We went to the Tropicana Casino today to see Dirk Arthur's Extreme Magic. Arthur's claim to fame is the use of tigers and panthers in his act of illusions.
Dirk had a very rough audience today. There were about 700-800 members in the audience and probably 60-70% did not speak English. Most of the audience members were of Asian descent, mostly Chinese. In our section, it was almost 100% non-English people.
The music was very loud, so it really was tough to judge the audience's reaction to the illusions and it seemed Arthur had a rough time connecting to the audience.
In the animal's first illusion, Arthur switched two tigers in a cage. One small problem. We sat in farthest left hand seats from the stage and I saw 6 tiger legs. That is quite a feat, unless something went wrong.
The other illusions went off without a hitch. He had some girls in the show who both performed the illusions and danced. The dancing was just filler time, though. The room was hot and about halfway through the show, it kind of got boring, seeing the same version of the same trick.
The last illusion of the night was the most spectacular and well worth seeing.
After the show, Arthur made himself available for autographs, especially those who bought his posters. He really didn't talk to the audience, unlike Nathan Burton.
The other down point is the bar and snack area is cash only. So, if you want to buy something, bring cash. We didn't, so we didn't contribute any money to the bars, which was OK.
Cost of the show starts at $42.50 and the show lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes.
