Guess What Happens In January?

In January, it is in the middle of winter and guess what?
It gets cold, sometimes, very cold, especially in Northern United States..
It snows, sometimes a lot.
When I lived in Dunseith, North Dakota, the worst storm I ever was in was when it snowed 27 inches of snow, was -30F with 60 mph winds.  The snow drifts were over 10 feet tall, up to the telephone wires.
I was stuck at work for 3 days and when I got to my car, there was over a foot of snow inside it, the snow being blown through the small cracks in the door.
When I lived in Havre, MT., the low got to be -45F and wind chills in the -65F.
So, I know what the cold is like.  You dress for it- layers, hat mittens, scarfs and a heavy coat.
So, yeah, it's going to be cold outside in the Midwest and Eastern United States.
Get used to it, it's January and it's supposed to be cold and snowy outside.
In the meantime, I am living in Las Vegas, with highs around 60 degrees.
From CBS Minneapolis: Even for Minnesota, it’s going to get cold the next several day.
“Yep, we’re talking about overnight lows [in the Twin Cities] around 19 below, 17 below,” said WCCO-TV chief meteorologist Chris Shaffer.
He predicts that up north kids can pretty much guarantee school cancellations, and here in the metro there’ll at least be delays. Classes in Rochester, Minn., have already been canceled for Monday.
The last time we saw these kind of lows was in mid-January of 2009, when it got down to 22 below zero.
On Feb. 2 of that year, temperatures only reached a high of minus 17 in the Twin Cities.
Shaffer says there is a chance some parts of the state could be forced to bring back old memories of ’96 – memories of frozen eyelashes, cars being towed and broken pipes.  http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2014/01/02/a-freeze-is-coming-minn-hasnt-seen-in-nearly-20-years/
