Nevada Going To Try For 2022 Olympics

From the RGH: Reno-Tahoe has approached the U.S. Olympic Committee about bidding for the 2022 Winter Games, USOC chief executive officer Scott Blackmun said Friday.
The USOC is open to a bid as long as it can resolve revenue-sharing issues with its international counterpart.
Denver has also indicated it wants to bid for the 2022 Games.
Squaw Valley USA hosted the 1960 Winter Games, the first Winter Olympics in the Western U.S....
I think 20 years is long enough,” Blackmun said. “I think it’s important that we host the Games in the United States as a way to keep Americans connected to the team.”
Whether the USOC will put forth a U.S. candidate for 2022 hinges on the USOC negotiating an agreement with the International Olympic Committee on how much of the overall Olympic television and sponsorship revenue goes to the USOC

This bickering about money has to stop. It is a complete embarrassment that the United States is not even trying to get an Olympics- Summer or Winter.
We have the some of the best athletes in the world and it would be nice to showcase them. In addition, it is stupid that when we watch the Olympics, there is a significant time difference, so many people cannot watch the Olympics live.
And if you want to talk about a huge stimulus, getting an Olympics would be huge to the state getting the Olympics and the Country.
Finally, if the Olympic committees cannot get an agreement with revenue sharing,m then maybe the U.S. can strike out on their own and start their own Olympics. If the U.S. threatened to do that, the IOC would capitulate quite quickly.
So, good luck to the folks in Reno-Tahoe area and hope they get a chance to bid on the Olympics.
