Good For Illinois

From the Chicago Tribune: Furloughed federal workers in Illinois who received unemployment benefits during the government shutdown this month and have also received wages for the days they weren't working will not be able to keep both paychecks.
The 577 workers who collected unemployment insurance benefits from the Illinois Department of Employment Security will have to reimburse the state, that agency announced Monday.
Each furloughed federal employee who applied and was certified for unemployment benefits as a result of the recently ended 16-day partial shutdown received an average of about $400 last week, said a spokesman for the state employment office, Greg Rivara.
The state hopes to recoup the $231,174 total it paid out from its trust fund managed by the state and federal government...
It's unclear whether all states can require furloughed workers who received unemployment benefits to repay if they also received back pay for the days they were off, U.S. Department of Labor officials said. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-state-orders-furloughed-federal-workers-to-repay-unemployment-benefits-20131021,0,3597483.story
Good for the FIBs, now hopefully the rest of the states do the same.
