From the Detroit Free Press: The Obama administration is considering ending spying on allied heads of state, a senior administration official said, as the White House grappled with the fallout from revelations that the U.S. has eavesdropped on German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The official said late Monday that a final decision had not been made and an internal review was still underway.
The revelations about National Security Agency monitoring of Merkel were the latest in a months-long spying scandal that has strained longstanding alliances with some of America’s closest partners. Earlier Monday, Sen. They are only CONSIDERING ending spying on national leaders who are friendly to the United States?
What a bunch of incompetent boobs, from the top on down in he Obama administration.
My guess is that they were arrogant enough to think could get away with it and so they spied on our friends.
This will cause a lot of damage with our allies who, at the end of the day, may not be our allies anymore because of this incompetent boob in the White House.

C'mon, Dan. It's already been reported that this dates at LEAST back to the GWB administration. It's Snowden that has brought it to light, and it would seem that the NSA is an organization that chugs along regardless of who is president. It's very troubling, but I really don't think this one is a partisan issue. The question is: who watches the watchers? I think Snowden is a villain rather than a hero. But he may have put into motion the motivation for we as a people to start reigning in some of our "shadow government." Won't happen if we remain divided though.
