The State of Nevada is going to pay $20,000 for an official portrait of Jim Gibbons.
Several questions come to mind: Why now? Why not when Gibbons was first elected?
$20,000 seems to be very expensive. I am sure there is an artist who can draw the portrait for $5000 or less.
Why not use a high class photograph? After all, we are in the 21st century. It's time we stop doing portraits on the taxpayer dime.

I don't mind having a picture of Jim Gibbons hanging where ever they hang the pictures. Gibbons ran on a platform of reducing spending and I have defended Gibbons many times but this is over the top. But, don't blame Gibbons alone, the other board of examiners are Democrats, so they are to blame as well.
So, we, the taxpayers are going to spend $20,000 for a portrait of the governor. Hey, it's only money.
