All This Worrying about A Rave Dance?

The worry warts of Clark County are getting their nanny aprons all tied up in knots worry about this weekend's Electric Daisy Carnival that is being held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Who are the nanny worriers- of course it is the media who keep remind their readers that people have died at previous events in Dallas and Los Angeles: http://www.lvrj.com/news/police-sticking-to-patrol-plan-for-rave-124227944.html
Well, as Mayor Oscar Goodman basically said: Las Vegas is not L.A. or Dallas. We know how to party safely.
First, the event is at the Speedway and the main party area is going to be in the infield of the main race track. If the crowd is going to riot or get out of control, who are they going to harm? A desert tortoise? A scorpion? Nellis AFB? They are not going to bother any one and it will be safer than any weekend on the Strip or News Years Eve on the Strip and Fremont St. and certainly safer than any NBA All-Star weekend.
And if the crowd does get out of control, they can always open the unused jail down the street from the LVMS.
The worry nannies in the press are also worried about any medical problems. The LVMS has the infield care center, which can be set up for any problem, including trauma or illness. LVMS also has it's own ambulances and when you combine it with the ambulances from aMR/Medic West and the CCFD, there will be plenty of medical staff at the LVMS.
Metro says they will have about 160 cops at the LVMS, along with private security and LVMS security. The biggest problem at the site will be traffic control. Trying to get 80,000 people out of the parking lots will probably be the biggest problems.
Finally, tickets start at $100. Who the hell is going to cause a lot of problems after paying that amount of money just to get through the doors.
So, the local media wants to be the nannies of Las Vegas this weekend and try and point out the negatives.
Just remember, that the local media in Las Vegas are the ones who brought us Woodstock and Disco.
Enuff said.
