No, this is not a score of a basketball game between President Obama and President Bush.

It's the number of fund raisers Obama has held compared to Bush at the same time in his presidency.
Why does Obama need all those fund raisers? Probably because he can't sell himsef and his policies so he needs this money to trash his opponent.

Because the world has changed since GWB. Since the Citizens United SCOTUS decision, corporations are allowed to give unlimited campaign contributions, anonymously in some cases. And Corporate America--though it does give to Democrats--gives overwhelmingly more to Republicans.
ReplyDeleteKarl Rove's Crossroads GPS Pac (or whatever the heck it is) is raking in millions upon millions for WHOMEVER rises to the top in the GOP primaries. And that's just one group.
The 2012 election is going to be a mega-billions affair when all is said and done. Obama is smart to start early. I'd rather see ALL the money out of the equation, I think it sucks that politicians--particularly 2-year congressmen--spend so much time raising money instead of working.
