Jon Ralston, in the Reno Gazette-Journal seriously want to compare John Ensign and Anthony Weiner.
From the RGJ: So when a creepy congressman who has a sexting disorder becomes a distraction and liability, fretting Democrats line up to defenestrate him. But when an even creepier senator has an affair with a staffer, reveals himself to be a world-class hypocrite and importunes supplicants to hire the cuckold, Republicans say nothing.
Because proportionality is so often lost in politics, the differences between Anthony Weiner, who has resigned, and John Ensign, who has fled the capital ahead of an expulsion, are lost.
It is nothing short of remarkable to see members of both parties, actually, calling for Weiner's head -- Republicans feeling obvious schadenfreude and Democrats fearing electoral carnage. Contrast this with the reaction, especially by GOP leaders to Ensign, who lasted almost two years after he confessed to an affair with a staffer who was the wife of one of his top aides.

Seriously, Jon, you can't see the differences?
Weiner: Comes from New York City, which is the media capitol of world. To be even more specific, Weiner is from Manhattan.
Ensign: Comes from Northern Nevada, population of around 0 compared to New York City. In some areas of the State, you can drive 100 or miles on County or State roads and not meet anybody. There is no major media in Nevada, unless you count the reality shows like Pawn stars and shows about Nevada's brothels.
Weiner: Jewish guy marries Muslim wife who works for Hillary Clinton and is pregnant. That's a soap story in it's self.
Ensign: Christian who has an affair with family friend's wife. Boring.
Weiner: On TV constantly, yelling and screaming. Acting like a liberal buffoon was his trademark.
Ensign: Nice hair, but not on TV a lot and rarely raised his voice.
Weiner: Put his junk on the Internet
Ensign: Put his junk, well, you know where, but not out in public.
Weiner: Blamed Brietbart and hackers
Ensign: Blamed himself, the media and the family friends.
Weiner: Went to rehab. Probably Rehab at the Hard Rock.
Ensign: Went to Christian rehab. Boring, especially when dealing with Mitch McConnell.
Weiner: His name just screams out for this kind of coverage
Ensign: His name is famous in the Navy, but that's it.
Weiner: Has a song that could describe his activities: (Oh I wish I was an Oscar Mayer Weiner)
Ensign: I think Don Rickles in a move played an Ensign in the Navy.
Let's face it. Ralston is jealous that the scandal with Ensign didn't reeally matter to most of the people in the U.S., while Weiner's scandal went viral. Ralston is a liberal and liberals, for the most part, are jealous beings by their nature.
But seriously, Jon, are your really that stupid that the Ensign scandal only played big here in Nevada and not nationwide? Grow up, Ralston.

Have you read the details of the Ensign investigation? It may not have played out like the Weiner story in the media (who, as you pointed out, like salaciousness, and pictures). But there's the makings of a good movie in the Ensign story. Ensign's story is much, much worse, much more sordid, and way more potentially illegal. And it should be pointed out that Ensign only resigned years later, and only because the pitchforks and torches were behind him.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, I read it and commented on it. The case case was certainly worse than I thought it was very disgusting and glad he is gone. Ensign is a disgusting pig with fancy hair.
