Yep, I am trying to catch up on all these Pawn stars, slowly but surely.

The first guy brought in a 1965 Fender guitar that was supposedly played by Jimi Hendrix.  Rick said it was the "Holy Grail" of guitars. The guitar was not played in concerts but in the studio.  The guy wanted $750,000 and time for an expert, Jesse from Cowtown Records.  Jesse said the guitar was one of Hendrix's guitar.  Jesse played the guitar and it worked as well and Jesse thought the guitar was worth $750,000 to $1,000,000.  Rick offered $450,000and then $550,000 and the guy stuck at at $750,000 and there was no sale.  As the guy was leaving Rick offered $600,000 but still no sale.  I hope the guy has good security because every good thief out there knows he has a very expensive guitar.

These were not the true Vikings but imitators.
The gold bracelet was a legitimate piece and he said it was worth about $9400.  Rick offered $200 for the smaller pieces and then $250 and that was the sale price.  The guy wanted $8000 for the gold bracelet and Rick offered $7000 and that was the sale price, for a total $7250 for the seller.
The story lines of the day were several different segments, lasting about 10 seconds.  Hey maybe they are listening to me and my complaints.  One story line had Chumlee using a sword to cut up a pillow with Rick's face on it.

Laird came in with 2 Viking swords.  Both swords were quite rusted.  Rick wanted to buy 1 but Laird didn't want to sell.
That ends another episode of Pawn Stars.  This was actually one of the their better shows as their story lines very short and a little entertaining.

And Global Warming Keeps On Going

From the Chicago Tribune: The lake-effect snow that fell this morning will not be the last Chicagoans will see this week.
Another inch or two is expected during a storm system on track to arrive Monday afternoon or evening, said David Beachler, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Romeoville.
"We do expect more snow tomorrow," Beachler said. "It's not over yet."
Today's snowfall will only affect areas close to Lake Michigan, Beachler said. The snow began about midnight and tapered off later this morning, leaving up to two inches in affected areas.
Tomorrow's storm system will be "widespread," affecting most or all of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana, Beachler said. Current models project between an inch and two inches of accumulation tomorrow into Tuesday.
Chicago's snowfall total for this winter season is 80 inches, the third snowiest on record. The second snowiest season was 82.3 inches in 1977-78.

You know, there will be some global warming crazy person who will claim this actually was a warm winter and that global warming is continuing.
And even if there was global warming, why is it the U.S.'s fault, why are we being forced by Obama's EPA to make expensive changes to our homes and businesses?  And why are people going to lose their jobs because Obama moonbattery and incompetence?
And I am pretty sure Chicago is hoping for a little bit of global warming.

Brad Binder, a lifelong basketball player who is a Chicago Bulls and Fighting Illini fan, has a perfect NCAA bracket after 33 games, ABC News reports.
Now Binder, who filled out his picks on Yahoo! Sports but didn’t take the extra steps to enter Warren Buffett’s billion-dollar challenge, is trying to get in touch with the business magnate to get grandfathered in to the prize pool.
Binder, 23, who said it took him just 5 minutes to fill out the bracket, which Yahoo! has confirmed, told ABC News: “I wish I could give you a better reason why I didn’t enter other than I was rushed and heading to work.
“Obviously, I didn’t think I’d be where I am now.”
Binder, a part-time physical therapy assistant, had Dayton beating Ohio State, and picked No. 14 seed Mercer to beat No. 3 Duke.  Binder also knew Memphis would beat George Washington.

But when she realized her arthritis medication fell under a particularly costly tier of her plan, she was forced to switch to another brand.
Under the plan, her Celebrex would have cost $648 a month until she met her $1,500 prescription deductible, followed by an $85 monthly co-pay.
Mason is one of the many Americans with serious illnesses — including cancer, multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis — who are indeed finding relatively low monthly premiums under President Barack Obama's law. But some have been shocked at how much their prescriptions are costing as insurers are sorting drug prices into a complex tier system and in some cases charging co-insurance rates as high as 50 percent. That can leave patients on the hook for thousands.
"I was grateful for the Affordable Care Act because it didn't turn me down but ... it's like where's the affordable on this one," said Mason, a 61-year-old from West Lafayette, Indiana who currently pays an $800 monthly premium.

Good For Planet Fitness

From the New York Daily News: A New Mexico woman is claiming Planet Fitness isn’t always ‘judgment free.’
The national budget-friendly gym chain promises members an atmosphere free of “gymtimidation.” But Tarainia McDaniel, a Muslim woman, says a gym in Albuquerque booted her out because she was wearing a head scarf.
The woman reportedly told staff at the gym that the head scarf was an essential part of her Muslim faith. In return, she was told to go find a baseball cap.
McDaniel is actually a Muslim convert. Growing up, her parents were Roman Catholic and Jehovah’s Witness, the ABQ Journal reports. The woman began practicing Islam when she was a 16-year-old student at Sidwell Friends School in the Washington, D.C. area.
Islam is now a big part of her identity. In fact, she’s raising her two kids as Muslims.
The 37-year-old woman didn’t expect any problems when she joined the gym on a two-year contract. Cool: Animal Kisses Dying Boy

From the San Fran Chronicle: A giraffe gave a lick to a dying man who asked as a last wish to be taken to Blijdorp Zoo in Rotterdam, Netherlands, where he had done odd jobs for 25 years.

Mario Eijs, who is mentally disabled, had developed a brain tumor and had difficulty walking or speaking. He wanted to pay a final visit to the co-workers and animals he loved.

The Stichting Ambulance Wens offers free transport to terminally ill patients.

Several giraffes became curious when Eijs was brought to their inside enclosure on March 19.

Obama's Illinois: Huge Payout For Guy Who Quits

I thnk this is typical for Illinois.

The president of Illinois State University has resigned, the school announced Saturday, following a police investigation into claims that he assaulted a former ISU employee late last year.
Timothy Flanagan, who was appointed president by the school's board of trustees May 10, said in a statement: “I appreciate the experience of working with the students, faculty, staff and alumni of Illinois State, but, after discussion with the Board, I have decided it would be best that I pursue other opportunities.”
Flanagan is receiving a negotiated one-time payment of $480,418, said university spokesman Jay Groves. Flanagan, who was less than a year into a three-year contract, had an annual salary of $350,000, Groves said.

Wisconsin College's Doing State Proud

Not too many States can claim this:
The U.W. Madison (my alma mater) men's basketball team is in the Sweet 16 for the NCAA Men's Division 1 basketball tournament.
The U.W. Whitewater men's basketball team won the Division 3 men's basketball tournament.
And the Steven Point's men's hockey team came in 2nd in the Division 3, losing to St. Norbert's in the championship game.
And St. Norberts is a Green Bay, WI. team.
The U.W. Madison women's hockey made the NCAA semi finals.
Not too bad for my home state.
Update: The U.W. Madison men's hockey team just got a #1 seed for the NCAA tournament.

Time For The Supreme Court To Rule On Gay Marriage ASAP

From the Las Vegas Sun: A federal appeals court issued an order Saturday preventing more same-sex couples from getting married in Michigan for at least several more days.
The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati said it issued the stay because it needed more time to consider the state's appeal of a judge's ruling Friday overturning Michigan's constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. We have had so many different rulings, including the Federal Courts shooting down State's constitutional amendments that have been approved by the voters.
We need to have a ruling by the U.S. Supremes to once and for all, to see if States can out law it or not.
It is dealing with people's lives, State laws and State constitutions and the Supremes need to act ASAP and decide one way or another.

Is There Any Good TV News In Las Vegas?

Is there any good local news reporting in Las Vegas.
For the past few years, I have been watching Channel 13, ABC news, but they became opinionated and had fewer news stories and more fluff stories.  Plus, they don't have sports.
I've been watching Channel 5, a Fox affiliate, and they seem to be a couple days off on their news reporting.  For instance, they reported that the Michigan ban on gay marriages was just overturned.  But that was a couple of days ago and the gay marriage ruling was put on hold, pending appeal to the Supreme Court.
Well, now, it's down to Channel 3 and 8.

Strange Reporting

Two articles in one, from the LVRJ:
Police were looking for three men Saturday night in connection with the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man in a rundown neighborhood south of downtown Las Vegas....
And this:
Officer C. Pollock, a patrol cop who was on traffic control duty in the aftermath, said every once in a while something bad will happen in the neighborhood, which some people call Naked City, and police will ramp up their presence. But for the most part, it’s been pretty quiet on the crime front — until Saturday afternoon.

From Fox News: A feminist studies professor at a California state university is facing criminal charges after a videotaped run-in with a teenage pro-life demonstrator in which she snatched an anti-abortion sign and appeared to get physical with the girl. 
University of California at Santa Barbara Associate Professor Mireille Miller-Young was charged with one misdemeanor count each of theft, battery and vandalism in the March 4 incident, Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley announced Friday. The charges came days after 16-year-old Thrin Short and her parents met with prosecutors.
Thrin told authorities what she told FoxNews.com earlier this month: She, her older sister Joan, 21, and some other pro-life activists were holding signs and demonstrating in a free speech zone on the bucolic campus March 4 when Miller-Young, who also teaches courses on pornography, went berserk.
The sisters say they distributed nearly 1,000 informational pamphlets during the event, which was organized by the Riverside-based nonprofit Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust. Things took an unexpected turn when, according to Short, Miller-Young approached the demonstrators and a group of students who had gathered.

I'd say that this professor should be fired, but in reality, she will be honored by her colleagues who think she perfectly normal.

This Could Be Interesting...Or Wishful Thinking

Washington Republicans say they are now competitive in more than a dozen states this year in their quest to take control of the Senate, as they and outside supporters continue to highlight problems with ObamaCare and the Democratic incumbents who backed the law.  
Kansas GOP Sen. Jerry Moran, chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, told reporters Friday his party has “strong credible candidates” in races in “10, 11, 12, 13 states."

"The map and opportunities have expanded dramatically in a year, in part because of the consequences of the Affordable Care Act," he said on a conference call that marked the fourth anniversary of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act.

Meanwhile, conservative groups such as Americans for Prosperity are reportedly pouring million into races in which Democratic incumbents have supported ObamaCare.
Republican must pick up six seats to win control of the upper chamber. But until recently, they have set their sights mostly on a handful of largely conservative or Southern states in which Democratic incumbents are backing the law, including Alaska, Arkansas, Michigan, North Carolina and Louisiana.
Now, several other solid opportunities -- including races in Colorado and New Hampshire -- have emerged to give Republicans an expanded map and a better chance of winning control of the Senate.
In Colorado, for example, the Republican National Committee is adding more than a dozen staffers as a new candidate and sagging poll numbers for Democrats raise GOP hopes of ending the party's decade-long drought on top-of-the-ticket wins in the state.

Wow, Cuba Raises The Pay Of Doctors, Nurses

From CNBC: Cuba is giving its hundreds of thousands of medical workers raises that in some cases exceed 100 percent, official media on the island announced Friday, though pay remains much lower than what medical professionals earn elsewhere.
The Communist Party daily newspaper Granma also reported that Cuba expects to take in $8.2 billion this year for the tens of thousands of medical worker it sends to care for the poor in countries such as Venezuela and Brazil.
Granma published a sample of what the pay hikes, which take effect June 1, will look like. At the high end, doctors with two specialties will see their salary go from the equivalent of $26 a month to $67, while an entry-level nurse will make $25, up from $13.
Salaries at government jobs in Cuba average about $20 a month, augmented by a range of free services and subsidies.
The raise will affect more than 440,000 medical sector employees, Granma said, and was made possible by the elimination of 109,000 redundant jobs in the last four years.
"This is very good news that makes me tremendously happy. ... With my first paycheck I'm going to buy a toy for my youngest grandson, who's 3," said Soraida Pina, a 62-year-old nurse. "This will open new doors for me." ...

But they don't realize how much poverty even the professionals face each day.

Hey, Lookee Here, Las Vegas Has A Liberal Talk Radio Show

This afternoon, I was kind of shocked that there was a liberal talk show infiltrating our airwaves on 720 KDWN.
I only listen for 15 minutes, from 3:30-3:45 on Saturday afternoon.
During this time, the guy did not give is name, so I don't know the name of the show.
KDWN does not have a listing or web site for the guy, so I can get any info that way.
So, I guess he is the unknown liberal or a liberal with a paer bag over his head to hide his shame.
But in the 15 minutes that I listened to him, the guy was fixated on Rush Limbugh.  The unknown liberal was very angry about Rush's ratings and wondered why people listen to him despite despite Rush's personal problems.  He also sounded petty and mean.
The unknown liberal obviously doesn't get it, like most most liberals.  Limbaugh is popular is because he is entertaining, plain and simple.  If you put a conservative who is always talking on the issues and nothing else, they won't survive in the radio business.
That is also why most liberal talk shows fail.  All they do is rip on conservatives and rarely have a sense of humor.  Ed Schultz, a liberal talk show host, when he first started, was a folksy kind of guy, cming from North Dakota.  He was easy to listen to, even I disagreed with him on most issues.  But then, Schultz turned hard left and now is an after thought in talk radio.
People don't want to listen to petty and meaness, like this unknown liberal talker is and unfortunately, this guy doesn't get it.
Finally, the unknown liberal says he never lies and right after, claims that Limbaugh lost his hearing because of Limbaugh's oxycontin use.

Questions have risen about the autoimmune inner ear disease that caused Limbaugh profound deafness between October of 2001 and January of 2002. The radio host subsequently regained hearing through the use of cochlear implants.

That’s a dramatic increase from approximately 30 percent last year — which was already well above the national average of just 5 percent. Smith and the fire chief are comparing apples to oranges.
Smith says that there are 44% of heart attack victims are saved.  Most of those had a pulse when the medics got to them.
The 5% Smith quotes the chief is for those in cardiac arrest- no pulse and the patient is not breathing.
Smith, either is duped by the fire chief or Smith is a dishonest reporter.
Whatever the case, Smith is a complete idiot.
That also may be true for the fire chief of the City of Las Vegas.

The Bracket Busters Win Out

A second day of upsets ended any chance of someone having a perfect NCAA tournament bracket in Warren Buffett’s $1 billion challenge. It was a favorite that provided the first blemish on the final three people’s brackets in the Quicken Loans contest on the Yahoo Sports website.
All three had ninth-seeded George Washington beating Memphis. The Tigers won 71-66.
“If Warren Buffett wants to donate the (billion) to our university, we will take it and use it in good company,” Memphis coach Josh Pastner said. “We’ll find a way.”
It only took 25 games for everyone to be eliminated. Then again most of brackets were knocked out on the tournament’s first full day. Well, I amfelling miserable since yesterday.  Last night I slept for 16 hours and today, I am sneezing, stuffy nose, fevers etc.

In February 1999, Clinton made an official statement on the Byrd killing after a jury returned a guilty verdict for John William King, who is still on Texas death row for his part in Byrd's slaying. Lawrence Russell Brewer was put to death in 2011, and Shawn Allen Berry is spending the rest of his life in Texas prison.

From the Ukiah News: A crime spree that began in Eugene, Ore. ended north of Fort Bragg Wednesday when Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Deputy Ricky Del Fiorentino, 48, came face-to-face with an armed suspect who shot and killed him, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office.
"I wish you weren't here, and I wish I wasn't here," a tearful Sheriff Tom Allman said at a 5 p.m. press conference in Fort Bragg.Suspect Richard Antonio Cheney, 32, stole a vehicle in Eugene, Ore., in the early morning hours of March 19, forcing the two owners into the trunk and driving south, Allman said. A be-on-the-lookout alert was issued throughout California for Cheney, who was reportedly driving a 2006 black four-door BMW 330.At 10:34 a.m., the MCSO received a 9-1-1 call from a business owner at Confusion Hill in northern Mendocino County who had confronted Cheney when he saw him urinating outside his store. The men argued, Cheney reportedly got a rifle from his car, fired twice at the business owner and likely was not hit when the business owner fired back twice with his handgun, Allman said. Another BOLO was issued for Cheney, who was suspected of armed robbery and attempted kidnapping."The two people in the trunk did manage to get away, and I do not know the details of how they got away," Allman said....
At 11:51 a.m., MCSO Deputy Del Fiorentino turned onto Park Drive about 3.5 miles north of Fort Bragg, and came face to face with the BMW and Cheney.
When authorities arrived, "Deputy Del Fiorentino's car was riddled with rifle (fire), and Deputy Del Fiorentino was deceased in the driver's seat of the patrol car," Allman said.The hood had been sprayed with bullets, and the front and back windows of the patrol car were broken, according to Allman. It is unknown how many times the deputy was shot.Lt. John Naulty of the FBPD heard gunfire and came around the corner to find Cheney rifling through the deputy's car and taking Del Fiorentino's sidearm from his holster, Allman said.Cheney reportedly fired six or seven rounds at Naulty, who returned fire, according to Allman. I Hope They Are Potty Trained

From the San Fran Chronicle: A Chinese dog breeder said Thursday that a property developer paid him 18 million yuan ($3 million) for Tibetan mastiff twins, highlighting how the breed has become a status symbol for China's rich.

The large, slobbery dog with massive amounts of hair used to be best known for herding sheep in Tibet, but has now become a luxury for the ultra-rich who want to spread their wealth beyond stocks and real estate.

Breeder Zhang Gengyun said he sold the 1-year-old twin male dogs to a single buyer at a luxury dog fair Tuesday in wealthy Zhejiang province, located on China's east coast. The sales were reported by the local Qianjiang Evening News.

A Nevada Appeal photographer caught the moment when a deer leaped over a short fence Wednesday morning just feet in front of the governor.

In what has become an annual March Madness tradition at the White House, Obama filled out a bracket in a segment broadcast on ESPN Wednesday.
Florida and Arizona rounded out Obama's Final Four picks. But he said the talents of Michigan State coach Tom Izzo made him pick the Spartans to go all the way.
Obama said he knows his picks aren't imaginative but expressed hope they'd help him win his pool this year. From the LVRJ: District Judge Ken Cory has had enough of the legal squabble over who has the right to adopt out the 27 dogs nearly burned in a pet store arson case.
The veteran judge Wednesday rebuked the parties in the case for wasting tax dollars, questioned their motivation and told the lawyers for the Prince and Princess Pet Boutique, The Animal Foundation and Clark County they have until mid-May to settle the petty dispute.
“We are here seated chewing up taxpayer resources… simply to resolve who gets to place the dogs,” said a dismayed Cory....
“May I suggest to all the parties in all earnestness this is not a good expenditure of taxpayer resources in a city where we have thousands of people, people who are homeless. In a city where we have all kinds of human needs, perhaps we would be better off to expend resources there rather than trying to save, not save dogs, no… just trying to decide who gets to place them.”

First, there is no extra tax money being used to hear the case and the court fees were paid, so, no extra tax resources are being used.
Further, it is the job of the judge to judge disputes, whether it involves animals, cars, people or zebras.
Finally, what do the dogs and the homeless have in common?  Nothing, unless the stupid judge wants to serve the dogs to the homeless at the local homeless shelter.

Stupid Criminal News Don't Mess With Thunder Down Under

A gun was no match for “Thunder From Down Under.”
Police say a man dressed like a member of the beefy male dance crew snuck backstage at Excalibur on the Strip and pulled a handgun on the real dancers. He left in handcuffs — with a shiner — after a rumble with “The Blokes” and a few of their mates.
The fight happened about 9 p.m. Tuesday after police say several of the entertainers confronted the man, whom Las Vegas police are still trying to identify.
Police say the man, described as looking 25 to 30, was spotted wearing a SWAT hat and shoes, plus a fireman’s shirt — much like the Australian-themed show’s costumes. He blended in, according to an arrest report, because witnesses thought he was a new addition to the troupe.
As the strippers began putting on their stage clothes, police said, a few of them noticed they were missing items they’d seen the man wearing, plus some makeup.
Dancer Ryan Paki saw a suitcase and show props near a locker room door, police said, and when he and show director Karen D’ihm were inspecting, a man wearing a fireman shirt walked up and said he bought the items for his girlfriend.
Enter several other “Blokes,” the show’s name for its dancers, and some supporting crew. The six men started fighting with the intruder, police said, trying to take back their stuff.
But the man had another plan, police said: “I got a gun, I’m gonna shoot,” he said.
He pulled a .44 Magnum, pointed it toward “Thunder” employee Scott Berchtold’s head and pulled the trigger, police said, but someone pushed the gun as it fired. The bullet hit the wall.

If This Were A Man...

From the Las Vegas Sun: A former high school English teacher was sentenced Tuesday in Las Vegas to five years of probation for an inappropriate relationship with a teenage student almost a year ago.

Amanda Nicole Brennan, 25, has a chance to reduce her felony conviction to a misdemeanor if she stays out of trouble. But she also faces one to four years in prison if she slips and violates the sentence imposed after her Oct. 31 guilty plea to felony charge of luring a child with intent to engage in sexual conduct.

She also has to register as a sex offender.
"I'm sorry for the incident," Brennan said softly as she stood with her defense lawyer, William Terry, before Senior Clark County District Court Judge James Brennan. The judge and the defendant are not related.
Terry called his client "naive" and said she knew she could never teach again.
Terry said Brennan has found another job but wouldn't specify outside court what it was....
The boy's parents reported that Brennan picked up the teen against their wishes and returned him home past curfew. The teen’s mother learned Brennan’s name and age from the security guard at their gated Henderson community, where Brennan had come to pick up the boy.
The teen told police that he and Brennan loved each other and had kissed twice, but only cuddled in the back of her car the night he went out without his parents' permission.
