This Is Not Justice

From the Detroit News: A Sanilac County Circuit judge has granted parenting time and joint legal custody of an 8-year-old boy to a convicted sex offender who allegedly raped the child’s mother nine years ago.
Sanilac County Circuit judge has granted parenting time and joint legal custody of an 8-year-old boy to a convicted sex offender who allegedly raped the child’s mother nine years ago.
Christopher Mirasolo, 27, of Brown City was awarded joint legal custody by Judge Gregory S. Ross after DNA testing established paternity of the child, according to the victim’s attorney, Rebecca Kiessling, who is seeking protection under the federal Rape Survivor Child Custody Act. A hearing is scheduled for Oct. 25.
The case, initially reported on “The Steve Gruber Show,” a Lansing-based radio program, is believed the first of its kind in Michigan and possibly the nation. According to the victim and Kiessling, it was prompted after the county surveyed the victim regarding child support she had received this past year.

“This is insane,” said Kiessling, who filed objections Friday with Ross. “Nothing has been right about this since it was originally investigated. He was never properly charged and should still be sitting behind bars somewhere, but the system is victimizing my client, who was a child herself when this all happened.”
I realize the State is trying to get money from the thug to support the child but to give him half custody and visitation is just wrong and downright mean.

Terrorism In Vegas Part 2

According to several news accounts on TV, there will be many people killed, up 20 people dead and many more injured.
Some thoughts:
During the Obama administration, they tried to take away terrorism funding saying Vegas was not a high risk for terrorism but it was eventually replaced, though at not at all.
The shooters is dead and and they are looking for an Asian woman.
The shooters is a local thug.
The shooters was on the 32nd floor and killed by the cops.  That is pretty amazing considering the size of the hotel.
The sheriff's has said there are over 20 dead and hundred injured.  Some people were trampled.
Two on duty officers were shot and several off duty cops have been killed.
There were also terrorist attacks in Edmonton, Canada and in France this weekend.
Update: now they are saying over 50 have died and 200+ injured.  As stated in my previous post, my ex-wife works at a local tpuotupn room and they are swamped with patients.  My guess this is true all across the valley.
The suspect is Stephen Paddock of Mesquite, NV.,which is located about 90 miles north of Las Vegas, by the NV, AZ and Utah.  It is also near the standoff of a few years ago with right wing extremists.  Not sure if this connected.
Paddock has a clean court records in Nevada and Arizona.
Update: Now 58 dead and 500 injured.  It has to be in the top 5 terrorist attack in the U.S..

Terrorism in Las Vegas

From the LVRJ: Las Vegas police have confirmed at least two people have been killed and another 20 have been injured in a shooting Sunday night at Mandalay Bay, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Metro confirmed about midnight that one suspect is “down.”
The department is asking people to avoid the area.
Police scanner traffic reported multiple casualties from the incident and possibly two shooters with automatic weapons.
The attack came during the last performances on the final night of the three-day country music festival, which has been held for the past four years on an 15-acre lot across Las Vegas Boulevard from Mandalay Bay.
It appeared the shooters were firing down at people from upper-level rooms of Mandalay Bay.
Ivetta Saldana said Jason Aldean stopped in the middle of his performance and was rushed off the stage. She was there with a friend and said the shots sounded like fireworks.
FBI SWAT as well as SWAT units from Henderson, North Las Vegas and Las Vegas were called to the scene, according to police scanner report.
Multiple ambulances and police vehicles are on the scene, and victims have been have been sent to University Medical Center and Sunrise Hospital Medical Center. Multiple roads surrounding the area have been shut down.
This will be updated as more information  becomes available.
Update: my ex-wife is an RN at a local Las Vegas hospital emergency and she is telling me that they are swamped with patients, probably patients from UMC hospital.

Solar Energy...Not All That Green

From the Pahrump Valley Times: A Las Vegas law firm is launching an investigation into allegations of employees’ gas exposure at the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project.
Craig Drummond, attorney from Drummond Law Firm in Las Vegas, said he is in the early stages of the investigation into employees’ potential exposure to nitrogen dioxide gas from a hot salt tank at the solar plant near Tonopah.
Drummond was hired by Timothy Stiver, a former mechanical supervisor at Cobra, a Madrid, Spain-based contractor for Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project. Stiver alleged that he and a group of other workers were hospitalized after inhaling the gas emitted from the hot salt tank....
Stiver, 53, relocated to Tonopah from Florida four years ago, to work on the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project.
In late August, he said he had a respiratory failure after working in the unit next to the hot salt tank.
“I woke up at about one o’clock in the morning, had burn all the way down to the middle of my chest, I couldn’t stop coughing,” Stiver said in an interview.
An hour later, he started vomiting.
“I was in a fetal position until 5:30 in the morning,” Stiver said.
After missing a day of work due to his sickness, Stiver started coughing up blood the next morning. Stiver’s wife drove him to a hospital in Reno where he spent the next few days....
An employee for another contracting company at Crescent Dunes, who declined to identify herself, said that she had experienced throat burns accompanied by a strong headache while she was at work on Aug 23.
“My boss personally drove me to Hawthorne,” the woman said. “I got a breathing treatment, I got on steroids, which messed with my blood sugar because I’m diabetic. … That really tore me up. I couldn’t stay focused, it was miserable. I’ve never felt that way.”
Before she left the emergency room, she said another worker arrived with second-degree burns.
There is a myth that supposed clean energy is actually  clean as the wind driven snow.
Whether it is solar power or electric cars, it is all dirty to 1 extent to another.
