May 1st, The Communists March

The communists of the United States, like union leaders, leftist organizations, Occupy movements and Democrats plan on disrupting traffic, business, school etc all across the country.
In Las Vegas, they will have one march at 4:30 starting on Sahara and Commercial Center (by Maryland Ave) and march to the Federal Courthouse on Las Vegas Blvd.
The communists also are planning on having a general strike in Las Vegas:
http://www.occupylv.org/topics/occupym1-general-strike-may-1-2012
And after they are done doing their useless marches, then maybe they will crawl back into the holes, under the rocks and caves they came from.
And if these fools do strike, I hope they are fired from their jobs.
And I am sure their lackeys in the media will be on hand to inflate the numbers of people who are marching and attending any rally.
Finally, I hope that Mayor Carolyn Goodman will not allow these fools to disrupt traffic or disrupt any business and if they do, Metro will handle them in a fair but firm manner.

Hello To A New Sahara Hotel

From the LVRJ:  Goodbye Sahara, hello SLS Las Vegas.
Think of this as an implosion without the dynamite.
Sahara owners SBE Entertainment of Los Angeles and San Francisco-based private equity group Stockbridge Real Estate said Monday they had completed the process to acquire $300 million in financing that will return Sahara, which was shuttered almost a year ago, into an operational north-Strip hotel-casino sometime in 2014.
SBE Chef Executive Officer Sam Nazarian the three existing hotel towers would remain, but two will be "stripped down to their skeletons." A low-rise hotel structure will be torn down, but the 2,500-space parking garage will remain.
SLS Las Vegas will have roughly 1,600 rooms and operate as a "true boutique resort," although it will be the largest SLS hotel in the company. Gensler Architects and Penta Building Group have been hired to oversee the renovation. Nazarian said plans have been completed and construction work could begin by the end of summerhttp://www.lvrj.com/business/good-bye-sahara-hello-sls-las-vegas-149609415.html
The good thing is that between the Sahara and the Linq where O'Sheas will used to stand, there will about $800 million worth of work on the Strip on just these 2 projects and that should help our economy, at least a little bit.

Buh Bye O'Sheas

O'Sheas casino on the Strip in Las Vegas closed today after a 23 year run and tonight they are going to blow up the 7 story parking garage.
From the Las Vegas Sun: O’Sheas is going out with a bang. Literally.
The 23-year-old Strip staple, famous for its beer pong and low-bet tables, closed its doors at noon today. Tomorrow morning, its 7-story parking garage will be imploded.
Caesars Entertainment shuttered the Irish-themed casino and is demolishing its garage to make way for the Linq project, a $500-million outdoor restaurant and entertainment district with an observation wheel centerpiece.
The 325,000-square-foot promenade will replace an alley between O’Sheas and the Flamingo, directly across the street from the company’s flagship, Caesars Palace.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/apr/30/roads-being-closed-osheas-garage-implosion/
I've been to O'Sheas a couple of times and it was a nice little casino and bar and it will be missed.
BTW, the observation wheel is a 550 ft. Ferris wheel, and no,I am not going to go on it.

I Didn't Know This But....

Hewlett Packard makes computers and printers, we all know that.
But Hewlett Packard is also a Medicaid service provider for the State of Nevada?  Yep.
From Hewlett Packard: HP Enterprise Services today announced a five-year, $176 million services agreement with the Nevada Division of Health Care Financing and Policy to strengthen Medicaid operations and help position the state for healthcare reform.
The new agreement calls for HP to become Nevada’s Medicaid fiscal agent and to upgrade and manage the state’s Medicaid Management Information System. HP also will help the agency enhance service delivery to Medicaid clients and improve staff productivity.
The agency is responsible for Medicaid benefits for almost 300,000 Nevada residents and processes about 12 million Medicaid claims per year.
“We look to HP for a smooth transition to more effectively administer benefits to our residents and provide excellent policy guidance to help us prepare for and manage challenges such as healthcare reform,” said Charles Duarte, Medicaid Administrator, Nevada. “We selected HP based on its deep knowledge and experience to help us enhance our Medicaid program operations to benefit Nevada’s Medicaid clients, healthcare providers and other stakeholders.”
http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/newsroom/press/2011/110322a.html
The reason why I found out is that I have a friend who is on Medicaid and they are having problems claims.
Apparently, HP is also handling claims in 20 other states.
Who would have thought that?

Time To Stock Up

For those who drink Powerade, it is selling for 59 cents per 32 ounce bottle at Smiths grocery store.
Yep, we bought about 100 bottles today with more to come.  Hopefully, that will get us through most of the summer.
And by Fall, I will be sick of Powerade.

Pawn Stars Review: April 30, 2012

This weekend, i went to a small town (about 250 people) pawn store in Goldfield, NV.  The store was dusty, small but had a lot of items for sale, mostly knick knacks but also some useful stuff.  I also found out that I am not a good bargainer.  I accepted the price that was on the tag and if there was no tag, then I accepted what the owner said.  I would never do good in buying a car, going to an auction or going to a pawn shop.
How about you, could you bargain with the likes of the Pawns Stars?
Tonight's episodes beginning at 10:00 are both reruns.
The first episode was first aired on February 27, 2012:

The second episode was first aired on March 5, 2012:

As usual, thanks for stopping by and hopefully next week we will have 2 new episodes, if not, oh well.

SEAL's Slam Obama

From the U.K. Mail Online: Serving and former US Navy SEALs have slammed President Barack Obama for taking the credit for killing Osama bin Laden and accused him of using Special Forces operators as ‘ammunition’ for his re-election campaign.
The SEALs spoke out to MailOnline after the Obama campaign released an ad entitled ‘One Chance’.
In it President Bill Clinton is featured saying that Mr Obama took ‘the harder and the more honourable path’ in ordering that bin Laden be killed. The words ‘Which path would Mitt Romney have taken?’ are then displayed.
Besides the ad, the White House is marking the first anniversary of the SEAL Team Six raid that killed bin Laden inside his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan with a series of briefings and an NBC interview in the Situation Room designed to highlight the ‘gutsy call’ made by the President....
Ryan Zinke, a former Commander in the US Navy who spent 23 years as a SEAL and led a SEAL Team 6 assault unit, said: ‘The decision was a no brainer. I applaud him for making it but I would not overly pat myself on the back for making the right call.
‘I think every president would have done the same. He is justified in saying it was his decision but the preparation, the sacrifice - it was a broader team effort.’
Mr Zinke, who is now a Republican state senator in Montana, added that MR Obama was exploiting bin Laden’s death for his re-election bid. ‘The President and his administration are positioning him as a war president using the SEALs as ammunition. It was predictable.’
Mr Obama has faced criticism even from allies about his decision to make a campaign ad about the bin Laden raid. Arianna Huffington, an outspoken liberal who runs the left-leaning Huffington Post website, roundly condemned it.She told CBS: ‘We should celebrate the fact that they did such a great job. It's one thing to have an NBC special from the Situation Room... all that to me is perfectly legitimate, but to turn it into a campaign ad is one of the most despicable things you can do.’
Campaigning in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Mr Romney responded to a shouted question by a reporter by saying: ‘Even Jimmy Carter would have given that order.’
A serving SEAL Team member said: ‘Obama wasn’t in the field, at risk, carrying a gun. As president, at every turn he should be thanking the guys who put their lives on the line to do this. He does so in his official speeches because he speechwriters are smart.
‘But the more he tries to take the credit for it, the more the ground operators are saying, “Come on, man!” It really didn’t matter who was president. At the end of the day, they were going to go.’
Chris Kyle, a former SEAL sniper with 160 confirmed and another 95 unconfirmed kills to his credit, said: ‘The operation itself was great and the nation felt immense pride. It was great that we did it.
‘But bin Laden was just a figurehead. The war on terror continues. Taking him out didn’t really change anything as far as the war on terror is concerned and using it as a political attack is a cheap shot.
‘In years to come there is going to be information that will come out that Obama was not the man who made the call. He can say he did and the people who really know what happened are inside the Pentagon, are in the military and the military isn’t allowed to speak out against the commander- in-chief so his secret is safe.’

All Obama did was give the ok for the mission and that is it.  He didn't do the training, he didn't draw up the plans, he didn't put himself in harms way and he certainly did not carry out the mission in Pakistan.
Further, the commercial the Obama/Clinton ran did not give one ounce of credit to the military and those in the intelligence communtiy for giving Obama the chance to make a decesion.
Obama/Clinton just showed their hatered of the military and Clinton just enabled Obama's mental illness, narcissm.
What a pathetic POS Obama and Clinton are.

Very Tragic Murder Case In Vegas

Most murders are tragic (criminals who murder criminals, not so tragic) and some are just horrendous and Las Vegas had a horrendous murder case on April 15, 2012.
From the LVRJ: The man, identified by police as 22-year-old Bryan Clay, chased the woman nearly half a mile. He finally caught her near the intersection of Vegas and Tonopah drives and dragged her into the tall weeds off a darkened desert lot.
It was a brief yet brutal encounter: Clay punched, choked and sexually assaulted the woman, according to a police report released Monday.
But the woman fought back, striking Clay in the face with the rock. When police sirens sounded about 2 a.m. that Sunday, Clay snatched the cellphone and fled, leaving behind only a bloodied Cleveland Indians baseball cap.
Sometime in the next hour, Las Vegas police said Clay traveled the half-mile to the Martinez family home at 1016 Robin St. and killed 38-year-old Ignacia "Yadira" Martinez and 10-year-old Karla Martinez with a claw hammer. Police said Karla Martinez was raped, and detectives were still investigating whether Yadira Martinez was also raped, the report said.
The family patriarch, Arturo Martinez, 39, was struck at least three times in the head and his skull was fractured in at least two places, the report said. He has been hospitalized and unable to communicate since the attacks.
The only thing left behind by the apparent attacker was a jacket wrapped in a black T-shirt, discarded in the street and found by a neighbor at 3 a.m. Sunday. The neighbor told police he assumed the jacket belonged to Arturo Martinez and tossed the clothing into the bed of Martinez's pickup truck.
Clay, who police said did not know any of the victims, was arrested early Friday morning after police raided his mother's house.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/arrest-report-slaying-suspect-says-police-should-have-killed-him-149513855.html
As I stated above, this is a horrible and gruesome crime and if this supposed person did this, they ought to let him loose in the general population of prison and let the prisoners have at him.  He would not last 1 hour in prison.
However, there are some questions that are troubling me about this case:
1. When the story first broke, the cops assured everyone that the community was not in danger from a killer and that it appeared the family knew the murderer. The next day or so later, they changed their mind.
2.  Arturo Martinez and his wife are martial art and boxing experts.  How did a man who was so drunk and high able to overpower both of them without a gun or even a knife?
3.  Apparently, the thug defendant just had a scratch on his face.  Wouldn't you think there would be more injuries after fighting these two adults?  And the defendant isn't that big.
4.  How did he get into the house?  Why did the Martinez's let him into the house to begin with?
5. Why the victim's house?
6.  How can he rape a girl and a woman without being hurt by any of the victims, unless he raped them after they were dead?
So, what I do I think happened?  One of three things:
1.  The thug did everything by himself.
2.  He had help from someone close to the family and we have an accomplice
3.  Someone set him up and we still have a murderer on the loose.
I am sure the cops are investigating all of these questions and I hope they are able to answer the questions, otherwise, the defense attorney will have a field day with the investigation.
As far as the Martinez family, yes they were illegal aliens, but they did not deserve any part of this horrific crime.  May the father heal, may the mom and daughter rest in peace and the two survivors young kids  receive all the help they can get.

Sadly, His DNA Is Still In The Pool

The guy lived to do another stupid stunt.

Obama Admits To Eating Dog

From Obama's book: With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chill peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy)http://hotair.com/archives/2012/04/17/bad-news-obama-used-to-eat-dog-meat/
I'm not sure why Obama would even include this in a book.  Maybe he thinks it would connect with the masses?
So, I guess we now have the first dog eating president in the White House.  Hardly the same as the first president born in a hospital or the first president to talk on a telephone.

Avoid Buying things In Indian Springs

Indian Springs is a very small community about 40 miles out of Las Vegas and is home to Creech Air Fore Base. (which is also home to the pilots who guide the drones in Afghanistan and other areas in the world) Indian Springs in on Hwy 95 and most,if not all the houses in town are trailer homes.
To start off, gas in Indian Springs was $4.14.  Gas in Las Vegas is about $3.85 and to the north, in Armagosa Valley, the gas prices are $3.89.  Clearly the two gas stations in Indian Springs are gouging it's customers.
Then, we needed to go to the rest room and there was a line at the gas station, so we decided to use the restroom in the casino next door, except all the rest rooms in the casino were out of order and they were directing their customers to the gas station next door.  WTF, if I am drinking beer and I need to go to the bathroom, I'll be very pissed to leave the casino and go to the gas station.
Finally, at the gas station, they sold the usual soda, beer, candies and other items you find at your typical convenience store, except the prices jacked up almost 100% for most of the items.
So, if you traveling on Hwy 95, avoid all businesses in Indian Springs, they are a rip off.

Esmeralda County Courthouse
Goldfield High School(Closed)

Sign on Esmeralda Telephone Company

Goldfield Jail:Open

Today, the family traveled to Goldfield, NV to visit a town that is supposed to be full of ghosts.   We stopped at the Goldfield Hotel which has been the subject of many TV shows that deal with ghosts.  Peering inside, you could see old time pianos, furniture, the main lobby and a few other things.  The building's owner bought the hotel for $350,000 and wants to sell it for $2,000,000.  He will never get that price because it is going to take millions to refurbish the hotel.
Another ghost hot spot is the old high school.  A lady at one of the stores we visited said there was a dinner/ghost hunting night a couple of weeks ago and she claims the ghosts came out in force that night.
The town seems to be having a small revival as several small businesses are opening up on main street.
Don't buy gas there, as gas prices at the one Goldfield gas station was $4.45.  In Beatty, 60 miles to the south, the gas prices were $3.89, cheaper than many Las Vegas gas stations.
Speaking of Beatty, it seems like this small city is the Mayberry of Southern Nevada.  It is quiet, good looking and has donkeys roaming around the town.  Of course, just outside Beatty, there are at least 3 brothels.
So, if you live or are visiting Las Vegas, take a trip out to Goldfield and see how Nevada looked during the silver/gold rush.

How Not To Treat Customers: The Subway Way

This evening at around 8:00 PM, we decided to get some Subway sandwiches from Subway, which in our area, and is on Horizon and Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson.
When we got there, at 8:00, they were all out of white/Italian bread and the person behind the counter said they had no plans in baking any more bread.  It was wheat bread or nothing.  We choose nothing.and left and went to another Subway a few miles away.
My guess the guy behind the counter will not be in the customer service business much longer.

update: Their new BBQ chicken sandwich sucks.  I would not recommend it. Ever.

Speaker At Conference About Anti-Bullying Is A Bully Himself

From Fox News: As many as 100 high school students walked out of a national journalism conference after an anti-bullying speaker began cursing, attacked the Bible and reportedly called those who refused to listen to his rant “pansy asses.”
The speaker was Dan Savage, founder of the “It Gets Better” project, an anti-bullying campaign that has reached more than 40 million viewers with contributors ranging from President Obama to Hollywood stars. Savage also writes a sex advice column called “Savage Love.”
Savage, and his husband, were also guests at the White House for President Obama’s 2011 LGBT Pride Month reception. He was also invited to a White House anti-bullying conference.....
Rick Tuttle, the journalism advisor for Sutter Union High School in California, was among several thousand people in the audience. He said they thought the speech was one thing – but it turned into something else.
“I thought this would be about anti-bullying,” Tuttle told Fox news. “It turned into a pointed attack on Christian beliefs.”
Tuttle said a number of his students were offended by Savage’s remarks – and some decided to leave the auditorium.
“It became hostile,” he said. “It felt hostile as we were sitting in the audience – especially towards Christians who espouse beliefs that he was literally taking on.”
Tuttle said the speech was laced with vulgarities and “sexual innuendo not appropriate for this age group.” At one point, he said Savage told the teenagers about how good his partner looked in a speedo.
The conservative website CitizenLink was the first to report about the controversy. They interviewed a 17-year-old girl who was one of students who walked out of the auditorium.
“The first thing he told the audience was, ‘I hope you’re all using birth control,’” she told CitizenLink. “he said there are people using the Bible as an excuse for gay bullying, because it says in Leviticus and Romans that being gay is wrong. Right after that, he said we can ignore all the (expletive deleted) in the Bible.”
http://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarnes/top-stories/anti-bullying-speaker-curses-mocks-christian-teens.html
And of course, the sponsors of the conference never apologized:
The executive director of the National Scholastic Press Association provided Fox News with joint statement from the Journalism Education Association that was sent to members – after a number of people complained about Savage’s remarks. “We appreciate the level of thoughtfulness and deliberation regarding Dan Savage’s keynote address,” the NSPA wrote. “some audience members who felt hurt by his words and tone decided to leave in the middle of his speech, and to this, we want to make our point very clear: While as a journalist it’s important to be able to listen to sthe peech that offends you, these students and advisers had simply reached their tolerance level for what they were willing to hear.”
The NSPA said they did not have a prior transcript of Savage’s speech and that wish “he had stayed more on target for the audience of teen journalists.” They also said it provided a “teachable moment” for students.
First, most of the high school students are not journalists, therefore they should not be treated like journalists.
But,of course, thug Savage only targeted Christians.  Why didn't he go after Muslims?  Maybe he feels threatened if he criticized Muslims because he knows that his life would be in danger.  So, this moron decided to go after Christians because they are an easy target. Just like a bully, go after the weaker religion.
So, the National Scholastic Press Association shows that they really are like the real press.   They have a liberal agenda and they want to force their views on potential journalists. Just like the liberal press does to their readers in real life.

Happy 52nd Birthday To Henderson Resident, Sheena Easton

Does Michelle Obama Work For The GSA?

From The Daily Caller: It cost taxpayers nearly a half-million dollars for first lady Michelle Obama to travel to Spain in 2010, according to an analysis by Judicial Watch.
The right-leaning watchdog group estimated that the trip cost $467,585. It based its analysis on documents obtained from the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. Air Force.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said it took his group “two years and a lawsuit to get these documents out of the Obama administration.”
“It is hypocritical for President Obama to fire GSA officials for wasteful conference spending, while his family went on a luxury vacation in the Costa del Sol Spain that cost taxpayers nearly half a million dollars,” Fitton said.
Among the various travel costs, the group estimated — using the Defense Department’s 2010 published hourly rates — that it cost the government $199,323 to fly to Spain and back to the United States.
The New York Times reported that those on the trip included the first lady, one of her daughters and “two friends and four of their daughters, as well as a couple of aides and a couple of advance staff members.”
Fitton’s group has previously disclosed the cost of sending the first family on overseas trips. Its analysis indicated that it cost $424,142 to fly the first family to South Africa and Botswana in 2011.
White House press secretary Jay Carney declined to comment on the report during a press briefing Thursday.
And, how much has Michelle Obama reimbursed the U.S. for the Spain and South Africa trip?
Did Michelle's friends and their kids pay for their expenses?  If Michelle didn't reimburse the U.S. taxpayers, you could bet her friends didn't either.
If the GOP were smart, but they are not,  they should be jumping all over this.
I think Michelle Obama feels she is owed these trips.  After all, for a long time, she was not proud to be an American, so these trips are her payback for all of those years she suffered with low paying jobs, lack of education and living on welfare. (sarcasm,of course)

Candidate For Governor In Wisconsin Endorsed By Woman Hater

In Wisconsin, there is a recall going on in which the crazy left is trying to recall Gov. Scott Walker from office. While I think Walker will win in a cake walk, it still is interesting to see how the crazy left is still behaving.
Kathleen Falk is a big time lefty and lives in Madison, WI.  Madison is one of the strangest places on Earth where and it is where a lot of left wing haters live.
Well, Kathleen Falk is running for the governor in the recall election.  She has as much chance of winning as is my friend Capper inviting Scott Walker for tea and cookies. (Capper is a crazy left wing loon who has been attacking Walker for years, probably some kind of man love on Capper's part, but deep down, I think Capper, while crazy, is still a decent guy after you get through his layers of hate)
Anyways, on Kathleen Falks's campaign web site, it has the following thug endorser:
Bloggers and Media
‘Sly’ in the Morning, WTDY Radio
 http://www.kathleenfalk.com/media/press/2012-03-endorsements
Candidate
Well, let's see who the thug, Sly, is:
Lt. Gov. Kleefisch is a wife, mother of two, cancer survivor, journalist, and free-market advocate who is trying to persuade businesses to come to Wisconsin through cold phone calls.
This is what John “Sly” Slyvester said in an on-rant about Lt. Gov. Kleefisch’s personal and political life (transcript via Freedom Eden):
“SLY” SYLVESTER: How amateurish is it to have Rebecca Kleefisch, who, I don’t know, she has some like little panty business in her basement or something, I don’t know. She’s hardly a, she’s hardly an entrepreneur. You know what? You know how amateurish that is? Cold-calling?
(Mocking Kleefisch in high-pitched, slurred voice)
‘Would you like to move to Wisconsin? Would you like to move CouponCabin to Wisconsin? I’m Rebecca Kleefisch. I perform fellatio on all the talk show hosts in Milwaukee. And they endorse me and that’s how I became lieutenant governor. And then I got colon cancer and I ran around the state to help people. Even though I have government health care, screw everyone else.’
…I had heard at one point Rebecca Kleefisch pulled a train, but that must have been a different story I was reading about.
“Pulled a train” is vulgar slang for group gang rape.
The MSM coverage of this filth-monger dances around his exact sexual slurs — they refer to “explicit” slurs without explicitly informing you — which is why I spelled them out for you.
This is nothing new, of course.
I’ve written about the Left’s whore fixation with conservative women for years.
 http://michellemalkin.com/2011/01/20/lib-radio-talker-attacks-gop-lt-gov-of-wi-she-performed-fellatio-on-all-the-talk-show-hosts-in-milwaukee-and-pulled-a-train/
So, Kathleen Falk is proud to have a radio talk show thug as an endorser.  And the left wonder why we don't take them seriously?  When a candidate is so desperate for an endorsement, that they have to rely on thugs who has a talk show.
But I guess this shows how Kathleen Falk (Dumbass-WI) feels about conservative women: She hates them just like Sly the Thug does.

Heroes And Zero

Today, I saw two different things on my way home in which 1 group of people were heroes and the other, a first class idiot.
When I was near the intersection of Sahara and Boulder Highway, I saw the crew members of Clark County Fire Dept. Engine 27 help fix an older woman's flat tire.  They jacked up the car for her and changed the tire, so that was their good deed of the day for them.
But then, for every hero, there is also an idiot.
After I got off the freeway on Gibson at the 215, I noticed a train to the right of me and a back up of traffic all the way to the off ramp.  There is a traffic light there.  Just before the light turned red for the traffic on Gibson, a Star Nursery truck with 3 trailers attached.  The truck with trailers covered the entire intersection and then some.Well, of course the truck blocked the entire intersection for 2 cycle of lights and for what?  So he could gain about 10 feet in traffic?
We were planning on buying a fruit tree this weekend.  Guess where we are not going to buy it from?

Should Religions Organizations Be Forcesd To Pay Workman's Comp?

There is a case in the Montana Supreme Court in which the state of Montana is trying to force members of the Hutterite religion to pay a workman's compensation tax.
From the Havre Daily News: Religious colonies of Hutterites in rural Montana are fighting the state's attempts to impose a labor law backed by businesses that complain they can't outbid the low cost of the communal workers.
The Hutterites are Protestants similar to the Amish and Mennonites who live a life centered on their religion, but unlike the others, Hutterites live in German-speaking communes scattered across northern U.S. states and Canada.
They don't pay wages, don't vote and don't enlist in the military. They make their own clothes, produce their own food and construct their own buildings.
"Their core belief is that they have no property. All the property and labor they have, they contribute to the colony," Ron Nelson, an attorney for the Big Sky Colony, told the Montana Supreme Court.
The state's high court on Wednesday heard arguments by the colony and the state on whether Montana's requirement that employers carry workers' compensation insurance can be expanded to religious organizations. A state judge has already ruled the 2009 law expanding the workers' compensation law to force the Hutterites to pay for the insurance violated their right to freely exercise their religion.
The state is asking the high court to reverse that decision, arguing the new law deals only with commercial activities and stays out of the Hutterites religious affairs.
The Hutterites' argument that everything they do is tied to their religion cannot exempt them from regulation when they voluntarily enter into an outside commercial activity, assistant Attorney General Stuart Segrest said.
"They're not allowed to become a law unto themselves," Segrest said.
http://www.havredailynews.com/news/story-605188.html
The law in question is a Democrat and the person responsible for the law says this:
Those businesses backed the 2009 expansion of Montana's workers' compensation law. The bill's sponsor, state Rep. Chuck Hunter, acknowledged then that the change targeted the Hutterites in particular and the need to create "a fair playing field" for other businesses that must pay for insurance.
"It's just frustrating for a private business that has to pay various taxes and workers' comp insurance to find themselves undercut competitively by an entity that is not subject to those same requirements," said Cary Hegreberg, executive director of the Montana Contractors' Association.
And the Hutterites counter with this:
Hutterites don't need protection against lost wages because they don't get wages, the colony argues. Colonies don't need liability protection because they don't make claims — there has never been a workers' compensation claim asserted by a Hutterite.
But the Hutterites are an easy target for discrimination because they look, dress, talk and live differently than anyone else in Montana, the colony's attorneys argued.
When I lived in Montana, I got to know some Hutterites and went to their Colony to visit several times.  They are a lot like the Amish, with the one big difference is that they believe in modern technology.  They will buy the biggest tractors and combines with cash.  They drive around town in their red and white pick up trucks.  They also have big farms that raise crops and livestock and poultry.
However, I have a big problem with big government coming to a religious organization and single them out to pay a tax and the Hutterites do not get any benefits from the tax.
It would be right to impose a tax if there was a benefit to the Hutterites, but the Hutterites don't like government being in their lives, if it can be helped.  They don't pay Social Security taxes because they don't collect Social Security, so why should they pay Workman Compensation taxes when they don't use it?
While I have not lived in Montana for sometime, I don't recall them doing much contracrting work outside the Colony, but maybe things have changed.
What I believe this bill really is about is to force the Hutterites to pay for a service they don't want and to subsidize the businesses that already pay in.  Kind of like Obama Care and forcing people to purchase health insurance they don't want.
I hope the Hutterites win this case.

Calling All Hookers: Michelle Obama Coming To Town

Michelle and her Secret Service protectors re supposed to come to Las Vegas next Tuesday. I am sure the Secret Service will be propositioned by a few hookers while they are in jail.
From the LVRJ:  Michelle Obama will visit Las Vegas Tuesday to raise money and rally supporters for President Barack Obama as the first couple kick off the formal general election campaign next week.
Her Tuesday morning stop in Southern Nevada is part of a four-state tour by the first lady, who also will campaign in Colorado and Arizona on Monday then Nevada and New Mexico on Tuesday.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/michelle-obama-to-visit-las-vegas-for-political-fundraiser-148953345.html
And once again, the Obama's refuse to visit poor areas of town.  I guess when you are rich, you don't have to mingle with the downtrodden and the other low life's that are in the poor areas of town.
Why do the Obama's hate the poor so much?
And by the way, to the Secret Service, prositution is legal in Nye County, just an hour away and you don't have to bring the hookers back to your hotel room.

Jon Lovitz On Obama

From the Daily Caller(caution, strong but accurate language):
Jon Lovitz, an early “Saturday Night Live” cast member, had some harsh words for President Barack Obama over the weekend.
In an interview with “Clerks” director Kevin Smith, Lovitz, a registered Democrat who voted for Obama in 2008, bashed the president for his class warfare rhetoric and the notion that the wealthy don’t pay their fair share in taxes.
“This whole thing with Obama saying the rich don’t pay their taxes is fucking bullshit, and I voted for the guy and I’m a Democrat. What a fucking asshole,” Lovitz said.
“First they say … ‘You can do anything you want. Go for it.’ So then you go for it, and then you make it, and everyone’s like, ‘Fuck you,’” Lovitz said. “[Obama] is the perfect example. He’s amazing. He had nothing … and the guy ends up being at Harvard. He’s the president of the United States. And now he’s like,  ‘Fuck me and everybody who made it like me.’”
Lovitz nails it.  He realizes it is a class warfare game Obama is playing and I am sure more people will finally realize that Obama cannot run on his record so he has to run on class warfare, ala Hugo Chavez.
I like Lovitz and I love it when he plays cartoon characters, especially one of the funniest cartoon shows ever: "The Critic"

World Peace Gets Slap On the Wriist

Metta World Peace, aka Ron Artest, aka thug got a slap on the wrist punishment for his nasty and thuggish hit on Jame Harden's head by Stu Jackson of the NBA.
From ESPN: The NBA responded to Metta World Peace's latest act of aggression with a seven-game suspension that will lighten the Los Angeles Lakers troublemaker's wallet and playoff schedule.
World Peace was suspended on Tuesday for throwing a vicious elbow at Oklahoma City's James Harden, keeping the Lakers' starting small forward sidelined for most of the first postseason round.
World Peace was ejected from Sunday's game against the Thunder for striking Harden in the head with the back of his elbow, giving Oklahoma City's top reserve a concussion. The former Ron Artest claimed the blow was an accidental, overzealous celebration of a dunk, yet even Kobe Bryant and his Lakers teammates weren't defending his inexplicable actions.
http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/7851983/metta-world-peace-los-angeles-lakers-suspended-7-games-elbow

This is the video of the thuggish behavior. The main reason the punishment is a joke is that Peace is going to lose only 1 game paycheck and the rest is playoff money.  So, the financial penalty is nothing.  NBA players don't get their contract pay during the playoffs.  In the playoffs, they share a pool of money which is much less than most players contracted pay, and it is possible that World Peace will be able to share in this money.
Meanwhile Harden is day to day and may miss several games.
But World Peace, when he was Ron Artest, was suspended for 86 games for this incident:

World Peace/Artest is a thug but yet the NBA tolerates his thuggish behavior.  What is it going to take for the NBA to rid the NBA of thugs like Artest/World Peace, a death?  Probably not, that would only be a 15 game suspension.  Another reason why the NBA is a joke.

Wrong Way Trucker To Face Charges In Mexico

From the El Paso Times: Mexican federal prosecutors will press charges against the U.S. trucker who may have accidentally crossed into Juárez with 268,000 rounds of ammunition last week, a source familiar with the investigation said Monday.
Meanwhile, officials with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives reiterated on Monday that preliminary investigations suggest that the truck driver was transporting a legitimate cargo.
A Mexican official, who requested anonymity because he is not authorized to disclose the information, said Jabin Akeem Bogan, 27, will face charges for violation of provisions within Mexico's anti-gun laws.
The source said it was unclear under which provisions he would be charged, but it is possible he will be accused with possession of cartridges of exclusive use by the military.
Salvador Urbina, a criminal attorney in Juárez, said it is more likely that Bogan will be charged with introduction of cartridges of exclusive use by the military, which is a more serious offense.
Bogan could face between four and 15 years in prison if charged with possession, and between 10 and 25 years if charged with introduction, Urbina said. Ê
His case will be resolved by the fifth district court in Juárez, where a federal judge has 72 hours to determine if Bogan will remain in prison until his next court date and what will happen with the seized rounds of ammunition.
Bogan is currently being held in a federal prison in Veracruz, Mexico, said his mother Aletha Smith.

http://www.elpasotimes.com/news/ci_20464308/trucker-will-face-anti-gun-charges
Later in the article: Bogan was detained last Tuesday by Mexican federal customs officers at the Bridge of the Americas with the cargo. His employer and others have come out in his defense, saying the load was actually headed to a Phoenix ammo shop.
Bogan took a wrong turn toward the Bridge of the Americas and was told by a nearby officer that the only way to turn around was going into Mexico and returning, said Dennis Mekenye, owner of Arlington-based Demco Transportation Inc and Bogan's boss.
The transaction was legitimate and that his company is authorized to transport such cargo, Mekenye said.
"From the company's standpoint everything is legal," he said. Ê
ATF spokesman in Dallas, Tom Crowley said on Monday that so far investigations haven't revealed anything suspicious about the transportation of the ammunitions.
"We've done numerous interviews and all we can say is that it looks like it was going to be a legitimate delivery to that dealer in Phoenix," he said.
Somehow, this trucker apparently got lost.  How, I am not sure because the Bridge of the Americas is not like a freeway or freeway off ramp.  The trucker had to do some strange driving to get into that position.
But it also appears that the driver got no help from the American Customs or Border Patrol  Other reports state that there were other ways for the driver to turn around but no one helped out the driver.  It also seems like the U.S. State Department is not doing very much in trying to get the man out of Mexican jail.
So, hopefully, the trucker will get out of Mexican jail quickly and the matter is resolved quickly.  Being in a Mexican jail, especially in Juarez, is nothing short of being in hell.

If I Wanted America To Fail...

Very powerful video.  While it may have been an attack on Obama and the liberals, this video should also include RINO's and many people of all political parties.   This video points out what is wrong with politics and the unelected bureaucrats that really run Washington D.C.

Ted Nugent: Naughty Hunter

Ted Nugent is an avid hunter and is also a convicted hunter.  Two times convicted.
From the Reno Gazette Herald:
Rocker and gun rights advocate Ted Nugent pleaded guilty Tuesday to transporting a black bear he illegally killed in Alaska, saying he was sorry for unwittingly violating the law.
“I would never knowingly break any game laws,” Nugent told the court. “I’m afraid I was blindsided by this, and I sincerely apologize to everyone for this.”
With his plea, the singer and avid hunter followed through with a signed agreement he made with federal prosecutors earlier this month.
Magistrate Judge Michael Thompson accepted the deal at a U.S. District Court hearing in Ketchikan. Nugent and his attorney participated by telephone.
Asked by Thompson if the agreement was clear, Nugent responded: “It is with me, your honor.”
According to the document, Nugent illegally shot and killed the bear in May 2009 on Sukkwan Island in southeast Alaska after wounding another bear in a bow hunt. The bow incident counted toward a state seasonal limit of one bear. Nugent and his lawyer, Wayne Anthony Ross, said neither of them knew about that law....
As a hunter, Nugent has run afoul of the law before.
In August 2010, California revoked Nugent’s deer hunting license after he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of deer-baiting and not having a properly signed tag.
Nugent’s loss of that deer hunting license through June 2012 allows 34 other states to revoke the same privilege under the Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact. Each state, however, can interpret and enforce the agreement differently.
http://www.rgj.com/article/20120424/NEWS13/304240061/Ted-Nugent-guilty-illegal-Alaska-bear-kill-fined-put-probation?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE
I like Ted Nugent and some of his views but  I really don't care for his music.  And if you are going to have a hunting show, you probably should not violate the law, even if unintentional.  But you are also not much of a hunter if you have to bait deer.

Someone Took Their Role Too Seriously

From the LA Daily News: A Brazilian actor playing Judas who accidentally hanged himself during a scene in "The Passion of Christ" has died. A hospital in Brazil's Sao Paulo state confirms on its website the death of 27-year-old Tiago Klimeck. An autopsy is being performed Monday following his death the previous day. The actor had been in a coma since the accident on Good Friday earlier this month in the city of Itarare. Investigator Jose Victor Bacetti told the G1 news website Klimeck accidentally hanged himself during a scene in which his character Judas commits suicide. About four minutes passed before anyone noticed, believing he was playing his role. Police are examining the security apparatus that was meant to support Klimeck during the scene.
http://www.dailynews.com/ci_20460532/actor-playing-judas-passion-christ-accidentally-hanged?source=most_viewed
They say for actors to be good, they have to try and imitate the person they are portraying and I think Klimeck went to far.
But, on the other hand, this incident could also be something worthy of the script of  "Murder She Wrote" in which you have some strange murders solved in an hour.
But RIP Mr. Klimeck, you tried to play the part of Judas and you unfortunately, succeeded.

Disgusting Channel 13 Behavior

Channel 13, KTNV, is almost praying every day that there is a car-pedestrian accidents.  That way they can promote their bumper stickers and other Channel 13 advertising material.
Channel 13 has an on going campaign to make people aware of drivers speeding past pedestrians and people who jaywalk.  That's fine, but all their material has Channel 13 logos and and other advertising on it.  And when there is news about a car-ped accident, they go all out to advertise their bumper stickers and other worthless crap.
If Channel 13 and the area police departments want to do something about car-ped accidents, show the body of the victim right after the accident.  See the split skull and the brain matter coming out the ears and broken skull.  Show the broken limbs and the broken face after it bounced off the windshield of the car.  As a former EMT, I have seen all this crap.  One time, in North Dakota, I went on a call of a car-ped accident and when we started CPR, I was going to give oxygen and put my hand in the back of the victims head and my hand went into the skull and into the guy's brain.  Talk about learning a lesson on crossing the street in the dark while drunk.
So, to Channel 13, you are disgusting for having orgasms every time there is a car-ped accident in the Valley.  Next time,if you want to really change people's behavior, show what really happens instead of advertising.
Like this very graphic video: (warning, very graphic)

Pawn Stars Review: April 23, 2012

Summer was finally here this past weekend as the temps got very close to 100.  The bad news is that it was hot but the good news is that hottest temperatures will only be another 10-12 degrees hotter.  If you do plan on coming to Las Vegas and visit the Gold and Silver Shop, be prepared for the heat.  Bring water (they sell their own brand of water for $1 a bottle) wear lots of sun screen, wear a hat and dress for 100+ degree days.  Since there is no shrubbery or trees by the shop, there is no shade, so it will be hotter than the actual temperature.
In the first episode, the first guy brought in the Republic of Texas money notes. there were 9 notes and they had Sam Houston notes.  He also had a government of Texas note.  The guy wanted a total of $675,000.  Time for an expert.  For more information prices:  http://www.crutchwilliams.com/RepublicOfTexas.htm
The bills were already authenticated and graded.   Jay was the expert and was impressed with the collection.  Jay said the Texas Government bill was worth about $5 to $10,000.  The other notes were worth about a thousand each.  The customer thought Jay was wrong.  There was no deal.  The customer was pissed, to say the least.
The next guy had a 1886 Winchester Repeating rifle.  The guy wanted $5400 and Rick pointed out there were a lot of flaws and offered $1600 and then $1800 and settled on $1850.
The next guy brought "The Outlaw" printing plates for printing the posters/lobby cards of the movie.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0036241/
Rick suggested the plates were for a newspaper.  The guy wanted $3000 and Rick offered $300.  The guy went down to $500 for only 1 plate and there was no sale.
The fun story of the episode was a shooting contest between Rick, Corey, Chumlee and the Old Man.
The next guy brought in a DZ Robot.  The robots come Discovery Zone.  The guy wanted $2500 and there was no counter offer, which was kind of surprising.  No sale.
In the shooting contest, Rick used the Winchester and the others used more modern weapons.  The Old Man looked like a gangster.  In the end,  the Old Man had the closest to the center.
In the second episode, the first guy brought in a 35 mm Bell and Howell movie camera from the military.
The guy wanted $2000 and Rick offered $800 and then $1000 and that was the deal.
The next gy brought in a 3 trigger Stevens double barrel shotgun.  The shotgun was in good shape.  The guy wanted $100,000.  Time for an expert. The age was 150 ears old.  Jemison was the expert.  He had only seen 3 or 4 of these shotguns.  He said the shotgun was for hunting and was used quite a bit.  He said the shotgun was worth $700 to $1000.  Corey offered $500 and there was no sale.  Another customer pissed at the expert.
The next guy brought in a 1961 Mercedes-Benz 191.  It was tricked out with the skinny wheels and it bounced via airbags.  Time for Danny as the expert.  The guy wanted $36,000.  Danny came down and was impressed but the engine needed some work.  They took the drive down the Las Vegas Strip.  Danny was stumped as to the worth.  Rick liked the car and offered $20,000.  The guy went down to $28,000 and there was no sale.
The next segment had Oliva on the night shift and was working with a guy named Rocco..  A guy brought in a Abraham Lincoln campaign token from 1864.  The guy wanted $1500 and so she called in Rick in, supposedly in the middle of the night.  Rick came in and offered $300.  No sale.
And that ends another 2 new episodes of Pawn Stars.  They did not advertise any new episodes next week.
Thanks for stopping by and have a nice week.

Thousands May be Without Internet Service Starting July 9, 2012

From the El Paso Times: For computer users, a few mouse clicks could mean the difference between staying online and losing Internet connections this summer. Unknown to most of them, their problem began when international hackers ran an online advertising scam to take control of infected computers around the world. In a highly unusual response, the FBI set up a safety net months ago using government computers to prevent Internet disruptions for those infected users. But that system is to be shut down.
The FBI is encouraging users to visit a website run by its security partner, http://www.dcwg.org, that will inform them whether they're infected and explain how to fix the problem. After July 9, infected users won't be able to connect to the Internet.
Most victims don't even know their computers have been infected, although the malicious software probably has slowed their web surfing and disabled their antivirus software, making their machines more vulnerable to other problems.
Last November, the FBI and other authorities were preparing to take down a hacker ring that had been running an Internet ad scam on a massive network of infected computers....
When the FBI and others arrested six Estonians last November, the agency replaced the rogue servers with Vixie's clean ones. Installing and running the two substitute servers for eight months is costing the federal government about $87,000.
The number of victims is hard to pinpoint, but the FBI believes that on the day of the arrests, at least 568,000 unique Internet addresses were using the rogue servers. Five months later, FBI estimates that the number is down to at least 360,000. The U.S. has the most, about 85,000, federal authorities said. Other countries with more than 20,000 each include Italy, India, England and Germany. Smaller numbers are online in Spain, France, Canada, China and Mexico.

I ran the program and it took literally a second to do.  I just hope they accurate.

Your Opinion Matters

I am interested in how my blog looks to the people who are kind enough and reads my blog.  But I am no artist, fashion designer or in any way creative.  When it comes to drawing, I cannot even draw stick figures.  When it comes to wearing clothes, I will wear stripes with polka dots. (Nah, I dress closer to the Amish)
So, how does my blog look? Is it ok to look at it or does it give you headaches when you look at it? (not counting my opinions, typos etc)
So, please answer the poll at the left.  Thank you.
And as always, thanks for stopping by.

Not Living Up To His Name

From ESPN: Lakers forward Metta World Peace has been ejected for elbowing Oklahoma City's James Harden in the head.
World Peace was ejected for a flagrant foul late in the second quarter Sunday.
World Peace had just dunked on a fast break and was celebrating his basket while running upcourt when he ran into Harden. While World Peace pounded his chest with his right arm, he threw his left elbow right over Harden's shoulder and into the back of his head.
Harden dropped to the court and stayed down for about a minute. Oklahoma City's Serge Ibaka and teammates challenged World Peace, but they were kept apart.
http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/7843190/los-angeles-lakers-metta-world-peace-ejected-elbowing-oklahoma-city-thunder-james-harden-head
Just another reason not to like basketball.  A guy makes a shot and thumps his chest like he is the best basketball player around or made a game winning in the 7th game of  of  NBA finals.  At the time of the stupidity, the Lakers were trailing or close to it.
Update:  I watched the video and this is a thug move by World Peace and he will be suspended.  He's lucky he didn't hurt James Harden.
Maybe it is time for Metta World Peace to change his name to Metta Big Stupid Idiot.
You may to watch an advertisement on the video.

What Mail Delivery May Look Like In A Few Years In The U.S.

From the Las Vegas Sun: Time is running out to save the U.S. Postal Service from insolvency. Unless Congress can come up with a plan in the next three weeks, the postmaster general will likely begin shutting rural stations and slashing delivery, jeopardizing the future of carriers and the letters they deliver.
In an effort to avoid that scenario, the Senate is considering a bill this week to reform the agency’s finances and change the way the country receives its mail. If all goes according to plan, it would push the nation toward a model that’s been used in Southern Nevada for years — the community mailbox.
“Nevada has a very high efficiency,” postal service spokesman David Rupert said. “The way we deliver mail in Las Vegas — the rest of the country could look much like that.”...
“In the older suburban communities, you find more old-fashioned mailboxes,” said Michael Green, historian and professor at the College of Southern Nevada. “But it’s more efficient to have one mailbox in the newer developments.”
The postal service officially calls them Neighborhood Delivery Collection Box Units, the freestanding groups of aluminum lockboxes found on most suburban streets.
That common feature in Southern Nevada neighborhoods is an anomaly nationwide, however, where mail carriers walk their routes making door-to-door deliveries....
The bill being debated in the Senate would make more cities like Las Vegas. By the end of fiscal 2015, the bill gives the postmaster general the authority to convert almost all door deliveries to either curbside boxes or centralized neighborhood units — changes they believe will save money by allowing mail carriers to make more deliveries without having to exit their vehicles.
In Las Vegas, there are 886 mail routes. In Milwaukee, there are almost 1,200, because carriers can’t deliver to as many addresses. (Milwaukee is smaller in area than Las Vegas.)
Fewer routes means fewer mail carriers, and fewer mail carriers means less cost to the postal service: According to a 2011 Inspector General’s report, the changeover could save $4.5 billion to $9.6 billion a year.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/apr/22/postal-services-money-troubles-spread-las-vegas-st/
The day of door to door delivery will be almost history and instead there will be one large set of mailboxes on a corner or in the middle of the block.
There are upsides and down sides of having a one stop mailbox. On the plus side, it will save money to the post office by eliminating routes and saving money on the vehicles they drive.  It will also reduce accidents postal service employees will have by walking their routes. No more biting dogs, slipping on the ice or walking in the heat of the summer.  It will also get the postal employees out of walking in terrible neighborhoods.  Instead, if there is trouble, all they have to do is drive away in their trucks if they feel threatened.  Finally, you may also get to meet your neighbors.
On the other hand, it will make customers walk a couple hundred yards to get their mail and it will also increase the chance of mail theft.  Instead of going door to door to steal mail, now thieves just have to stop at one place and steal the mail.
All, in all, it sounds like a good plan.  It will save a lot of money and make the post office more efficient.  The post office has to compete with Fed Ex, UPS and e-mail, which is very difficult to do.  Hopefully, this change will help the Postal Service survive.

Cool: Meteor Hits Northern Nevada

From the RGH: Reports of a meteor streaking across the western sky Sunday morning were followed by a large explosion that rattled windows from Reno and Lake Tahoe to Tuolumne County in California.
Dan Ruby of the Fleischmann Planetarium at the University of Nevada, Reno, told The Associated Press the reports indicate the meteor broke up above Earth somewhere over the Sierra southwest of Reno.
The explosion set off alarms at the Wal-Mart in Carson City and rattled nerves of residents and authorities who initially wondered if it was caused by an earthquake or a plane crash.
"I was outside my apartment and saw a huge bright thing in the corner of my eye," said Jenae Neu, a Sparks resident. "I looked up and saw a huge bright ball with some sort of tail. It looked like it was about 100 yards away and it only lasted about two seconds before it went behind a hill that's close to my place. It was like nothing I've ever seen. It was crazy."
Layne Mantha said he was outside in Sparks when the explosion happened.
"It was about that time that a large meteor went across the sky," he said. "It might have been the meteor. Something to check because it wasn't very high in the sky when I saw it when I was sitting in my yard in Sparks."

This meteor shook up a lot of people over a wide area of land.  The power of mother nature strikes again.

Obama's Economy Making Me More Healthy?

Well, there is a benefit, I suppose, to the horrible economy President Obama and the Democrats have given the United States.
Because of the economy, the price for beef has skyrocketed so much that I cannot purchase steak, roasts or any other beef product except cheap hamburger.  I am eating more chicken, fish and pork.
Supposedly, red meat can cause health problems like high cholesterol and blood pressure.
So, one upside to the horrible Obama economy, I don't eat very much red meat and so I should be getting healthier.
I blame Obama for not allowing me to eat my steak.

Perfect Game Thrown By Phillip Humber

From ESPN: Philip Humber had Tommy John surgery before his career even started. He bounced around a bit as he tried to make it in the major leagues.
Now, well, Humber is just perfect.
Humber threw the first perfect game in the majors in almost two years, leading the Chicago White Sox to a 4-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday.
"What just took place was just awesome," Humber said.It was baseball's 21st perfect game and first since Philadelphia's Roy Halladay threw one against the Florida Marlins on May 29, 2010. It was the third in White Sox's history, joining Mark Buehrle against Tampa Bay on July 23, 2009, and Charles Robertson against Detroit on April 30, 1922.
http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=320421112
It is so rare to have a pitcher throw a perfect game.  You need luck and skill just to win a baseball game in the Big Leagues.  And to throw a perfect game, you need skill and luck times 100.
And to the fans that got to witness the game, hold onto your ticket stubs, it is part of Major League Baseball history.

Metro Shhots, Kills Another

From Channel 13 News: Metro has confirmed reports of an officer involved shooting here in the valley.
Police responded to a call for a stolen vehicle early this morning on Jones near Smoke Ranch.
Officers stopped the vehicle with a female driver inside.
After a standoff with police the woman stepped out of the car and pointed a gun at police.
Responding officers fired on the woman.
She was reported dead on scene.  http://www.ktnv.com/news/local/148377175.html
When the newspaper decide to put this story on their web site, all the cop haters will come out of the woodwork saying the cops should have not shot a woman, that they should have aimed at her hands and shoot the gun out of her hands etc.
From the preliminary information, it looks like suicide by cop.  Glad the cops went safely home tonight.

Nuns Getting Political In Wisconsin

From Brietbart.com:
The nuns who have circulated and signed petitions include sisters from convents and other Catholic institutions across the state.
Over 100 signatures, for example, all of female voters, as verified through iverifytherecall.com, list the same address as a Dominican institution in Sinsinawa, WI, in the southwestern portion of the state. Representatives of that organization could not be reached for comment.
One Catholic official at a school with a large number of signatories stressed that Catholic organizations advocate for the poor and downtrodden, but do not take political positions, and that what their individual members do is up to them alone.
Though many Catholic voters support Walker, and roughly 40% of Wisconsin Republican primary voters are Catholic, there is some Catholic opposition to Walker's collective bargaining reforms among those partial to the "social justice" movement within the Catholic Church. Democrats are hoping to tap into that opposition.
Walker's most likely Democratic challenger, former congressman and former Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett, is a practicing Catholic but has been criticized for opposing the ban on federal funding for abortion. Other Democratic candidates--Kathleen Falk, Doug LaFollette, and Kathleen Vinehout--appear to be pro-choice.
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/04/19/Left-Wing-Nuns-Signed-Circulated-Petitions-for-Walker-Recall
I am a Catholic and I really get tired of priests who preach politics in the pulpit.  And nuns who think they are than anybody else because they took a vow of poverty but yet are anti-Catholic.  It is clear that the political priests and nuns just don't like the Catholic Church and lack the common sense that God gave a goose.
Do the nuns have the legal right to sign the recall petitions? sure.  Do they have the moral right to do so?   I don't think so.

Pahrump Valley Times Left Wing Hate Continues

The editors at the Parhump Valley Times, a failing Pahrump NV. newspaper, really must hate Pahrump, Nye County and their customers.  Why else do they write editorials that are so hateful, lack facts and just lack intelligence and common sense that most people on the planet have?
The PVT has been on a crusade to get Nye County Assessor, Shirley Matson,  kicked out of office and once again, the PVT is on the losing end of this battle.
Matson had the gall to ask the sheriff of  Nye County to see if there any illegal immigrants working on the new Nye County courthouse.  Not a bad request since the courthouse is being built with taxpayer money.  Matson also has a problem with illegal immigrants and maybe legal immigrants as well.  But that is her right as a U.S. citizen.
So, first, the PVT tried to shame Matson into quitting.  Well, that failed because Matson refused to be intimidated by the quack and hate filled staff at the PVT.
Then some liberals of Nye County tried to get Matson recalled, but their effort failed miserably as they could not come close to getting enough signatures to force a recall.  Now, steam was coming out of the pin heads over at the PVT because they realized that the PVT message of hate was going no where in Nye County.
Then, ethics charges were filed against Matson and she was found guilty of 2 out of the 4 charges and is required to pay a $5000 fine.
Now the PVT haters are livid, how dare the State Ethics Commission not boot Matson from office?  Those bastards at the State refused to bow down to us college educated and smartest people in Parhump and Nye County.  We at the PVT know what is best for Nye County and if you don't believe it, just ask Matt Ward, leader of the hate filled herd over at the PVT.
From their latest editorial:
5,000.
If you wanted to know the price of making a complete jackass out of yourself in front of the entire Nye County officialdom, now you have it. That and attorney’s fees.
This is how much the state ethics commission decided to fine county Assessor Shirley Matson, who was found guilty yesterday of two out of four ethics charges filed against her.
She faced much harsher punishment had commissioners agreed on all the charges she faced. They could have asked a judge to sweep her from office.
That was probably too optimistic even if she were found guilty on all charges — after all, voters of Nye County elected Matson, and when given the chance to remove her after she bumbled into controversy, most just yawned.
Why should these five ethics commissioners do what voters refused to do?....
Whatever the case may be, our feelings all along are that Ms. Matson is an unstable individual with extreme right-wing prejudices and is likely over her head at the assessor’s office. When given the chance to remove a crazy person from office, our feeling is that it should be done post haste.
That’s our opinion.
Another viewpoint might be that more than half the voters in Nye County happen to not disagree with Ms. Matson’s virulent right-wing prejudices and don’t mind a bit of “wacky” representation in their life, no matter how important the office, no matter the real impact should the job be done improperly....

One looks around at some of the other elected officials in this county, past and present — we won’t name names — and really, is Matson all that bad? Ummm. Yes.
Example: When our teary-eyed elected official described going to Carson City by way of California because local wingnut “attorney” Nancy Lord told her someone might run her off the road, it made our collective temples throb, our cheeks blush with embarrassment. We already have big heaping bowls of incompetence stew around here. Is crazy an ingredient we really need?
We’ll pass on the “cracked” pepper, thanks....
The true fall guys for Matson, if there are any, are the people you passed on the road to work. The people in the grocery store shopping alongside you. Your neighbors. The people sitting with you at church and in the bleachers at the ball game. It’s both the residents over age 18 who can vote but don’t and the people who do vote, but who enjoy the taste of crazy.
Fortunately for us, and for Matson, there are other newsworthy items sure to keep us occupied for the time being. So long as Matson pays her fine on time, keeps her opinions out of her office and does the best job she is capable of doing, our best hope is that this sordid chapter in Nye County history fades into the ether.
Until, of course, voters get a chance to elect a new assessor, in which case we will dredge all this back up again and urge you to vote for the least crazy person at the polls.

So, according to haters at the PVT, the voters are the stupid ones, not the liberals at the PVT.  And there goes that term again, "wingnut".  If you don't think like the herd mentality over a the PVT and Nye County  liberals, you are a wingnut.  Hater, Matt Ward has called me a "wingnut", so I wear that badge with honor.
However, the PVT also said that over half of the voters of Nye County are right wing bigots.  That's a nice thing to say to your customers.
Once again, the PVT show's it's hate toward conservatives.  That is not a surprise.  The PVT employees haters, newspaper people who cannot find a real newspaper job.  They can only find pat time work at a newspaper that only publishes 1 or two times a week on the web.
No wonder the PVT has very few advertisements and probably for good reason.   My only question is this: Why would Albertsons Grocery store advertise on the hate filled PVT editorial page?  Why would Albertsons support hate?  Maybe we should ask them.

The Girl Who Brought Down The Secret Service

The power of a beautiful woman.
From the New York Daily News:   The stunning snapshots of the sultry Dania Suarez show her cozying up to the camera — and flaunting her considerable assets.
The Daily News was the first to publish photos of the sexy high-priced call girl, a week after she touched off a media maelstrom when one cheapskate agent paid her $28 — instead of the $800 tab they agreed upon for their “date.”
In one picture, the 5-foot-4 brunette beauty is in a bikini at the beach striking a model pose, with her left hand on her hip and her head tilted in a tantalizing fashion.

The agent should be fired just for stupidity for trying to pay her just $28 instead of $800. Hell, if he worked for the GSA, he could have had the taxpayers pay for her pleasure.

And Spirit Airlines is getting into the act:

Dedicated To Ryan Leaf

Ryan Leaf is a former college football standout.  But when he got to the pro, he was a complete failure, due in part to a huge ego.
He also developed a drug problem, was arrested in Texas and sentenced to 10 years of  probation.
He is now sitting in jail in Great Falls MT. for stealing pain killers from some of his friend's medicine cabinets.
I am pretty sure he had this "Want to get away" moment.

Want To Get Away?

From ESPN:  There but for the grace of God go I. And you. And everyone but Carleton Tinker.
Yes, this is breaking news. Tinker is the Alabama Crimson Tide football parent, that guy, the one. He is the unfortunate soul who on Saturday last touched the crystal football the Crimson Tide won for the 2011 BCS Championship before the trophy fell off its pedestal and shattered....
arleton and his son, Carson, the Tide's senior long-snapper, stood along with several other people in the second-floor lobby of the Mal Moore Athletic Facility on Saturday admiring the new trophy, the eight-pound Waterford crystal football valued at upwards of $30,000. Alabama played its A-Day Game on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium, a half-mile or so down Paul W. Bryant Drive. Carleton Tinker watched several Alabama recruits pick up the trophy to see what it felt like. How could you not? How many people have that opportunity? When the American Football Coaches Association, which awards the trophy, sends it on tour during the season, the trophy has two minders: They allow fans to ogle it, and to have their picture taken with it. But touching is not allowed.
"I didn't walk away with it," Tinker said. "I set it back down on the stand and turned to walk away, and had my back away from the trophy when I heard it tumble. So I looked back at it."
What happened next is a script for one of those old "Wanna get away?" ads that Southwest Airlines ran.
"In my mind, it was slow motion," Tinker said, "as it rolled off the top of the trophy case onto the table onto the floor. I'm not sure if I bumped the table when I turned around, or if my foot caught on the large tablecloth they had draped and puddled on the floor. That's exactly what happened."

I have embarrassed myself many times in my life, especially when I suffer foot in mouth disease. (Shocking admission, I know)
But to knock over a national championship trophy and then have everyone looking at you right after it happened and then the press puts you into the national spotlight.
The kid must be one hell of a long snapper that Saban didn't get too pissed, at least not in public.  But I am sure the kid will have to a few extra sprints and laps to atone for his father.

Wisconsin State Journal Allows Death Threat To Be Published

Talk about the left wing in Wisconsin being totally unhiged:
Yes let's stick up some more ugly buildings by all means that is essential because our brains and bodies are so deafened to real nature that we gave to take time to appreciate ugly architecture and check our iPod and then keep our heads up our as.... Like the traumatized Republicans that got hypnotized by fundamentalist frauds who use their illness for profit. Remember the 21st century? Hey you backwards retards without the land and water resources we can't exist. Get some serious therapy besides getting into Republican Moonies to save your sad butts!
Remember nature? Yes that's where babies come from. Oh but that's right you Republicans think if we pray enough the money will come from heaven for the poor unborn children from the ghetto. You are the ghetto retards. You racist, anti-nature thugs need to die.
Once again, Wisconsin liberals just show how classy they are.
