Pawn Stars Review: March 5, 2012

Well, Happy Birthday to the Old Man who turns 71 today.  This past weekend, Chumlee, Rick and Mark, from the Clark County Museum showed up at a cancer benefit show where people got their hair shaved for a donation.  Sadly, Mark and Chumlee didn't shave their heads and as far as Rick goes, does it even matter?
Among the celebrity headshavers at McMullan's Irish Pub on Saturday night for the St. Baldrick's benefit: retired baseball slugger Frank "The Big Hurt" Thomas, Rick Harrison and Chumlee of "Pawn Stars," Joey Fatone, Chippendales cast members Jace, Juan, John and current host Jake Pavelka and Ashley Ann Vickers of CMT's "Sweet Home Alabama."...

This is also NASCAR week week in Las Vegas as the NASCAR Sprint and Nationwide cars ar ein town for Saturday and Sunday's race.
In tonight's first episode, the first lady brings a dollar bill signed by Clark Gable.
http://www.clarkgable.com/
Clark Gable supposedly signed the dollar bill when he was in the Army Air Corp as a bomber pilot at the age of 40.
The lady wanted $5000 and time for the expert, Drew.  The dollar bill had Gable's signature along with other pilots at the air base he was assigned to.  Drew said the signature was real and worth about $500 in a frame and not the $5000 the lady thought it was worth.  Corey offered $100 for the dollar bill and so no sale.
The next guy brought in an antique hand crank generator.  It produced electricity when the handle was turned and was built in the early 1900's.  Chumlee was the guinea pig when Rick tried to see if it worked, and it did and Chumlee got quite a shock.  The guy wanted $1000 and Rick offered $75.  The guy came down to $200 and Rick stayed at $75 that was the sale price.
The next guy brought in a Wells Fargo double barrel shot gun.  The seller sold the shop the bowling ball cannon in one of the first seasons of the show.  It was a 12 gauge, black powder gun.  The guy wanted $15,000 for the shot gun.  Time for an expert- Rick.  Looking at the web pages, it is apparent that Wells Fargo shot guns are faked and Rick confirms this when he said that 99% of the Wells Fargos guns are fake.  He thought the shot gun was used at a bank instead of a stage coach.  Rick took apart the shot gun and found some corrosion and Rick asked the seller to shoot it. They headed to the shooting range, looks like the new Clark County shooting range.  The gun fired 2 times and it worked and the gun did not blow up.  The guy still wanted $15,000 and Rick offered $2500 and then $3000.  The guy went down to $10,000 and then $7500 and there was no sale.
The next guy brought in a Ulysses S.Grant funeral souvenir.  It was a small card with his biographical information on it.  The guy wanted $1000 and Rick offered $100.  Seems like Rick is low balling this episode.  Rick then went up to $125 and no sale.
In the 2nd episode, the first woman brought in a Harry Truman autographed book of his memoirs.

This is a book would like to buy, just for him to read the book.  The lady wanted $3000.  Time for an expert, Drew and a rare book saleswoman.
Drew came in and said the signatures were genuine.  Next up was the bookstore, Rebecca at the Bauman book store in Las Vegas.
http://www.baumanrarebooks.com/about-us/locations/las-vegas-nv.aspx
Rebecca said the books were worth about $11,000 for the two books because of what was written.  Rick offered $5500 for the books and the lady wanted $10,000.  Rick offered then $6500 and the lady went down to $9500 and there was no sale.  Just remember that she only $3000 in the beginning.  What a very greedy lady- she got a free appraisal and she was offered way more than he wanted at first.  Just pathetic.
The next guy brought in a can of Zoo Doo elephant poop (manure)  It came from the Portland Zoo.  The guy wanted $10,000 and Chumlee offered $20 and that was the selling price.  Chumlee gave the can to Rick for National Boss's Day and then the tricks were on.
The next guy brought in a Robbie the Robot toy.  It was about 18 inches tall.  The robot still worked:
Time for an expert.
Johnny of the Toy Shack came by and looked at it.  He said the toy was worth about $2200.  The guy wanted $1600 and Corey wanted $800 and then $1000 and then $1100 and that was the sale price.
The next guy came in with a 1950's German spy camera.  It looks like a cell phone of today, well actually, a few years ago.  Corey didn't believe the story about it being a spy camera.  the guy wanted $100 and Corey offered nothing because it had information on it making it look that it was stolen.
That wraps up another 2 brand new episodes of Pawn Stars.  Have a nice week and hope you check out the rest of the blog.
