Troubling Times At The Pahrump Valley Times

Pahrump is a somewhat small city about 60 miles from Las Vegas and is located in NYE County.  It has one newspaper, The Pahrump Valley Times and it appears there is some trouble brewing over there, especially involving the editor of the newspaper, Matt Ward.
Matt Ward pretends he is a muckraker, taking after the likes of Mike Royko, Upton Sinclair and maybe Edwin Murrow.  However, in reality, Ward is just a hotheaded person who hates it when someone criticize him or the Pahrump Valley Times.
The PVT has gone after personally, several conservatives in Nye County, often including their opinion in their supposed news articles.  http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2011/03/worst-newspaper-article-ever-written.html
Now, this week, Ward and other members of the PVT editorial board have gone after 2 different people personally in their editorial cartoons err, editorials.
From this editorial:  Sheriff’s Capt. Bill Becht’s letter to the editor is reprinted next to this editorial for good reason. Please refer to it as you read the following opinion piece.
Becht should be pleased with himself — like any good, freedom loving American, he was able to voice his opinion, make his position known and enlighten us all. He added to the debate. The First Amendment gives him the special status to do that without facing any serious consequences. Freedom.
His rank as a sheriff’s captain no doubt gives his words extra forcefulness. He probably even has a bit of what one would call, extra freedom. How American is that?
http://pvtimes.com/news/editorial-board-we-demand-open-records-ncso-transparency/
It should be noted that the PVT has basically banned me from commenting on different articles.  How American is that, Matt Ward?
Poor Bill. We knew he was upset with us, so we attempted to get him to agree to help us resolve this before we wrote this editorial. In Becht’s defense, he did just what we wanted; he sat down with a reporter just this week, went over the daily dispatch log, which gives a list of all the calls for service in the county in a given period, and generally seemed able to help us. We thought to ourselves, “finally, we can do our JOB.”Ahh, yes, such professionalism from the editorial board.
Your rights, the right to know, the right to government transparency, are being maligned here, not the NCSO.
We’re fed up with this. No more cajoling or playing footsies. If this situation isn’t resolved with utmost speed this debate is going to a new venue and very quickly. Already in the last few weeks we’ve heard disturbing news coming out of the NCSO, which makes the case for greater transparency all that much stronger — telephonic search warrants being done improperly, unwritten policies about subpoenaing police officers raising questions, use of stale evidence to investigate real criminals, with the results being perhaps a child sex offender getting off in the end, not to mention rumors of tons of union grievances, thefts at the jail as well as questions about the manner evidence in criminal cases is being stored. Perhaps it is this mountain of other troubles DeMeo’s lack of transparency is meant to hide. Who knows.
All we know is this, times up.
DeMeo, add poor open records policy to the list of messes you need to clean up. Or we are going to get it cleaned up for you.
What are you going to do, PVT, stomp your feet and hold your breath?
The problem with liberals is that they think words will make a difference.  When Nye County switched over to the new radio system and effectively shut down the use of police scanners, the PVT said nothing, even though I brought it up both in a blog article and comment on the article.   http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2011/04/nye-county-becomes-closer-to-having.html
Further, when I asked the PVT how they will cover the news, this was their response:
So, please PVT answer the question: How will the newspaper know about crimes in Nye County? Do you have a special scanner? Do you have a police radio that allows you to listen but not talk? Or are you going to rely on the sheriff’s department for the news?
  • Pahrump Valley Times says:
I’ll let the editor know you’re looking for him. This is a production day for the PVT. Right now, he’s extremely busy.
    PVT
Apparently, the PVT just did not care about the scanner problem when the issued was first raised because they were too busy.  What a bunch of lazy assed bull sh-t.
Has the PVT asked the Nye County Sheriff for a radio to listen to but not able to transmit, like other news agencies have done around the Country?  Nah, they were probably to busy.
And now this editorial:
My goodness, Harley. It’s not enough that you come into my office and interrupt me during my busiest work day. But you also have to accuse me of writing some bland political trivia — and please believe me when I tell you that I consider you losing to Laurayne Murray (who is she?) by 500 votes or Midge Carver (umm, who?) by 922 votes in who cares when to be nothing more than trivia — into one of my reporter’s stories.
I tell you I didn’t. You don’t believe me. The reporter tells you I didn’t, you don’t believe him.
And now you have the gall to write this egomaniacal, paranoid letter for all the world to read? You are unbelievable.
That’s sad. You’re sad. And I am sad for your constituents. They deserve better than this.
Didn’t it even cross your mind that if I really were out to tarnish your good name that I had much better material to choose from than your pathetic performance during your unsuccessful races for state assembly and county commission? You were arrested for choking a guy out during a town festival for crying out loud — while you were supposed to be helping the local Boy Scouts to boot. My goodness! And that tirade at the Democratic headquarters here, didn’t you have an octogenerian shaking like a leaf?
You might scare the elderly, but you don’t scare me — well, maybe a little bit.

Your past is fair game. You don’t like it, take your blanky and go home. You chose to be an elected official, enjoy the spotlight, and now you want to throw a tempy tantrum over this newspaper reporting the FACTS!
Why don’t you spend less time watering your ego and more time concentrating on being a better public servant. This letter is not what we consider meeting voter expectations.
My God man, get over yourself.
— Matt Ward

http://pvtimes.com/opinion/45843/
Wow.  Talk about throwing a temper tantrum by Matt Ward. Professional journalists, which Ward apparently is not one of, would ignore people like Harley.
I don't know Harley or who he is, but apparently, he is a reader of the paper, in other words a customer.  Same with any supporters Harley has.
Maybe Ward is trying to intimidate people who second guess the newspaper.  Maybe Ward is a second grader posing as a newspaper editor.  Perhaps Ward is just pissed off that a liberal like himself has to live and work in a conservative county.  That would be like me living in Madison, WI.  Oh wait, I did live In Madison and I never went off on a person like this.
Whatever it is, the wheels seem to be falling off the PVT.  Maybe their jobs are at stake.  Maybe they just don't like working in Pahrump.  Or maybe they feel threatened that people see through their incompetence and so they decide to retaliate against them in print.
Whatever it is, The PVT certainly has earned the right to be called one of the worst and unprofessional newspapers I have ever read.
Maybe that explains why they have no local advertising on their web site.

Time To Have Lottery In Nevada

From the Las Vegas Sun: The line started forming early Thursday, with hundreds of people showing up at sunrise at the Primm Valley Lotto Store for a chance — albeit a miniscule one — to turn $1 into half a billion dollars.
Over the next several hours, the line swelled to more than 1,000 people, each anxiously awaiting the chance to buy a ticket for the record $540 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot — which grew to $640 million as of Friday morning.
“Everybody’s out here for the same reason. It’s all about the money,” said Tina Webler, a North Las Vegas resident who arrived at 7:30 a.m., half an hour before the lottery store opened.
The lottery lunacy was in full effect by midday, with people eating lunch, reading books and fastidiously filling out lottery tickets as they waited in a line that snaked around the store and out around the parking lot of the adjacent outlet mall.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/mar/30/primm-hundreds-line-chance-win-incomprehensible-am/
Channel 13 said that the store in Primm is the busiest lottery store in the United States and my guess 99% of the players are from Nevada.  This money is leaving Nevada and going to California and  Arizona.
There is no evidence that the lottery harms the local casinos, who are the biggest opponents of the lottery in Nevada.
So, maybe it is time to add the lottery to the list of gaming games Nevada offers.

No Wonder Heller Doesn't Feel She's Qualified

Being nominated to be a Federal judge is a great honor and says you are highly qualified and extremely smart. A Senator, also has responsibility in making sure the person he nominates meets certain standards and should have a thorough vetting process.
From the Las Vegas Sun: With Sen. Dean Heller opposed to her nomination, Elissa Cadish’s nomination to the federal bench is in jeopardy.
But the Nevada judge is trying to correct the bad initial impression by clarifying to Sen. Harry Reid, who supports her nomination, that when she said in 2008 that she didn’t think there was an individual right to bear arms, she wasn’t expressing a personal opinion — just parsing what she believed to be the meaning of the Second Amendment.
“I want to assure you that I was not giving my personal opinion on this question,” Cadish said, referring to a May 8, 2008 questionnaire in which she answered the question: “Do you believe the individual citizen has a constitutional right to keep and bear arms?” with “I do not believe that there is this constitutional right.”(Sun columnist Jon Ralston obtained a copy of the questionnaireon Thursday.)
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/mar/29/lv-nominee-federal-bench-explains-gun-rights-posit/
When you go to the questionaire that Reid provided and Cadish answered, you would think that Reid was giving a 10th grade social studies quiz and the answers gives is abest, high school level and not an answer a law school graduate and judge would give.
http://media.lasvegassun.com/media/pdfs/blogs/documents/2012/03/29/cadish.pdf
And the handwriting Cadish has the penmanship of a middle schooler, with a cross of cursive writing and printing.
If this is what Heller had to go on, then I don't blame Heller for withholding her nomination.
And if this is the best Reid can do in vetting a Federal judge, then he needs a different job.  We are not giving a social studies quiz, we are giving nominating a Federal judge for a life time appointment. Once again, Crybaby/Coward Reid shows once again, he is not fit to be a U.S. Senator.

If It Were You, You Would Be In Jail, But The Government Employees, Nah

From Firehouse.com: Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper on Wednesday suspended the use of state prescribed burns like the one that may have caused a deadly wildfire that destroyed dozens of homes near Denver.
The Colorado State Forest Service said the 6-square-mile fire started from a controlled burn last week that was meant to reduce vegetation. Instead, high wind gusts Monday blew embers across a containment line and into unburned forest, sparking the blaze.
"This is heartbreaking, and we are sorry," Deputy State Forester Joe Duda said in a written statement.
Glenn Davis, who said his friends were forced from their homes by the fire, peppered Duda with questions at a news conference and said he wants changes in how prescribed burns are conducted.
"People up here want accountability," Davis said. "Telling me, 'I'm sorry,' doesn't really make a difference."...
As crews dug lines around the fire's perimeter, a search team was using dogs to look for a woman missing in the fire zone. Her home was among 27 destroyed or damaged in the blaze.
The bodies of Sam Lamar Lucas, 77, and Linda M. Lucas, 76, were found earlier this week at their destroyed home. Their cause of death was pending.
Neighbor Eddie Schneider said he's not sure the couple ever received an automated phone call telling them to leave. Schneider left his home after a firefighter knocked on his door.
Hickenlooper said he doesn't blame some of the 900 evacuated homeowners in the mountains southwest of Denver for being angry.
"Their houses have been destroyed. Their lives have been changed forever. It's not their fault," he told KOA radio.
http://www.firehouse.com/news/10684639/colorado-forest-service-apologizes-for-wildfireSo, some government workers start a fire that kills at least two people, destroys numerous homes and burned hundreds of acres of land and all the government workers do is apologize.
If this was a civilian, homeowner or kids playing, they would be under arrest and be facing thousands of dollars of fine and hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars in restitution and pay for the cost of the firefighting efforts.
The government employees get away with it, you and I would not.
What a shame.

RIP Earl Scruggs

From the New York Times:
Earl Scruggs, the bluegrass banjo player whose hard-driving picking style influenced generations of players and helped shape the sound of 20th-century country music with his guitar-playing partner, Lester Flatt, died on Wednesday in a Nashville hospital. He was 88.
His son Gary confirmed the death.
Mr. Scruggs and Mr. Flatt probably reached their widest audiences with a pair of signature songs: “Foggy Mountain Breakdown,” which they recorded in 1949 with their group the Foggy Mountain Boys, and which was used as the getaway music in the 1967 film “Bonnie and Clyde”; and “The Ballad of Jed Clampett,” the theme song of the 1960s television sitcom “The Beverly Hillbillies.” (Mr. Scruggs and Mr. Flatt also appeared on the show at times.)

A great performer and musician and the first time I saw him play was on the Beverely Hillbillies and from then on,I enjoyed his music.

CCEA Loses Round 1

From the LVRJ: About 134 teacher positions were pulled off the chopping block today after an arbitrator sided with the Clark County School District over who will pay $10 million in increased teacher retirement costs.
The money represents an increase in payments that public employees must make to the state's retirement plan. The district had asked its teachers union to allow teachers to pay half of the 2.25 percent increase, the same agreement it made with its other employee unions. But teachers union officials refused, despite the district claiming it needed the $10 million in question to help balance its budget for 2011-12.
District officials claimed that without that concession, the only way to make up the money would be teacher layoffs. With teachers earning $75,000 on average, including benefits, the district would have to cut about 134 positions without the retirement payment concession. Since that matter couldn't be settled in negotiations, it went to an objective third party, an arbitrator, to make the decision.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/arbitrator-s-decision-to-side-with-district-saves-about-134-teacher-jobs-144702775.html
This is going to be a bad summer for the teachers union.  I believe they will also lose the arbitration in which the the District wants to freeze pay, including step pay for education and longevity.
The District has been taking the money out of out our paychecks, so it won't the teachers and the amount really was not that much- a few dollars.
But the District has been on a hiring frenzy and we really have not seen any classroom budgets cut, so the District crying poverty is also a myth.

Welcome to 2012: Augusta National Admits First Female Member

From ESPN:  If the Augusta National Golf Club keeps with tradition, Ginni Rometty would be its first female member, according to a report Wednesday by Bloomberg News.
Since its founding in 1933, Augusta National has had only male members. Bloomberg reported that Augusta National has in the past invited the chief executive officer of IBM, which is a Masters Tournament sponsor, to be a member.
On Jan. 1, Rometty became the CEO of IBM, succeeding Sam Palmisano, who is a member of the club -- as were the three CEOs before him, according to Bloomberg.
Augusta National declined to comment, saying it does not discuss membership-related issues, Bloomberg reported. IBM also declined comment.
Tournament chairman Billy Payne, who has said in the past there is "no specific timetable" for ending the club's all-male membership policy, traditionally holds a news conference the day before Masters play begins. This year, it will be April 4. The former head of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic committee is certain to be asked about Rometty's membership chances.
http://espn.go.com/golf/story/_/id/7748200/ibm-ceo-ginni-rometty-first-female-member-augusta-national
First, it's nice to see Augusta accepting it's first female member without it being forced to and without protests.  Augusta National is a private club and they should allow anybody they see fit, within reason.
I also believe it is the right of a private club to accept whoever they want.  If they want to be racists, so be it and let the club be scorned.  If they want to only allow people who wear yellow pants, so be it.
But it also nice to see some old clubs become more exclusive.
So, welcome to 2012, Augusta National.

NFL To Review All Turnovers

First it was reviewing all touchdowns and now the NFL is goihng to review all turnovers.
From ESPN:  All turnovers will be reviewed from the booth with no coaches' challenges needed and overtime periods in the regular season will use the same scoring rules as the postseason after NFL owners voted to approve those proposals Wednesday. The replay official already reviews all scoring plays.
With all turnovers now subject to review, it could lead to even more effective coaching challenges. According to ESPN Stats & Information, last season (the first with all touchdowns being reviewed), plays were reversed on 52 percent of challenges, the best rate over the past 11 seasons and 10 percent higher than in 2010.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7747023/nfl-owners-ok-review-turnovers-ot-tweakWhile from the competition view, reviews make sense, it is also taking the fun out of the game.  It is going prolong the game everytime the referee goes over and looks under the hood at the replays.  It also takes the risk of the head coach calling for a challenge.
This takes the human element out of the game even more and makes the game just a little bit more boring.  Bad move for the NFL.

What A Shock: Limbaugh Beats Liberals Again

From The Washington Post: The dark clouds hanging over Rush Limbaugh appear to be lifting.
Exactly one month after the conservative radio host sparked outrage by calling Georgetown law-school student Sandra Fluke “a slut” and “a prostitute” in a three-day diatribe, stations are standing by him, advertisers are trickling back to his program and the news media have moved on....
Limbaugh’s recovering fortunes may be best exemplified by what hasn’t happened. At the peak of the controversy in early March, two small stations — in western Massachusetts and Hilo, Hawaii — said that they would drop his program. Since then, no other station has said it will take him off the air, dashing the hopes of MoveOn.org, a liberal group whose ongoing petition drive seeks Limbaugh’s removal from 180 stations.
Expectations that a weakened Limbaugh could be bumped by a new program hosted by former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee (R) have also not materialized. None of Limbaugh’s many affiliates have said they’ll move him from his midday time slot in favor of Huckabee.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/limbaugh-sees-heat-over-comments-turn-down-to-a-simmer/2012/03/28/gIQAspEKhS_story.html
Liberals have tried for 20+ years to get Limbaugh off the air and they have failed.  Every time they try, the liberals just fall flat on their faces.  Most liberals just cannot accept the fact that Limbaugh is very popular and liberals cannot even get a tiny fraction of Limbaugh's audience.
And meanwhile, Limbaugh is just laughing all the way to the bank.

Heidi Harris Update

I got an e-mail from Heidi Harris thismorning and she has a new e-mail address: heidiharrisshow@gmail.com if anybody wants to contact her.
She also says she is going to have big news as to where she is going next.  Hopefully, it will be bigger and better that at KDWN.

And to those at KDWN, now, during the 6:00 AM hour, you have a point/counter point show with Alan Stock and some liberal attorney, (Michael Gotti?)  It's kind of like Hannity and Colmes, except with out the excitement or the intellect.  Kind of like this:

Another Former Rich Pro Athlete

Dennis Rodman is crazy.  Strange crazy, but after earning 10's of millions of dollars, he is now broke.
From ESPN: Dennis Rodman is "extremely sick" and "broke," which prevents him from being current on child and spousal support payments, court documents obtained by the Chicago Tribune say.
Rodman, 51, owes more than $800,000 in back child support for two children he had with his third wife, Michelle Rodman, her attorney said in court documents. He also owes more than $51,000 in spousal support, Jack Kayajanian claims.
Rodman must appear in court in Orange County, Calif., and faces 20 days in jail for not paying, according to the documents.
"Respondent Dennis Rodman is broke and cannot afford any additional fees," documents filed on his behalf by his attorney Linnea Willis say.
His lawyer claims Rodman has been able to pay support recently only by borrowing money from his finance manager, Peggy Williams, and his agent, Darren Prince.
"In all honesty, Dennis, although a very sweet person, is an alcoholic," Williams said, according to the Daily Pilot in Costa Mesa, Calif. "His sickness impacts his ability to get work. This case, especially his wife filing for divorce, has put him on a binge that I have never seen before. He is extremely hurt and extremely sick. He is often unable to obtain work because of this sickness. And his sickness is getting increasingly worse.
"Dennis cannot afford his own monthly expenses. If the court awards attorney fees, it is setting Dennis up to be in contempt because you cannot get blood from a turnip."
Michelle Rodman's attorney counters that Rodman flies all over the world hosting nightclub gigs and is not broke.
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7744475/lawyer-broke-ill-dennis-rodman-pay-support
$800,000 in child support?  In Rodman's defense, that seems excessive.
And I don't buy Rodman's excuse of being an alcoholic.  And if it's getting worse, than stop drinking.
But it really doesn't surprise me Rodman is broke. His life has been about excess and bizarre and that costs money.  But sadly, Rodman joins the growing ranks of professional athletes who made large amounts of money and are now broke.  How sad.

Don't Jump To Conclusions

Two stories are hitting the airwaves with a lot of people jumping to conclusions.
The Trayvon Martin case in Florida has people jumping to conclusions that the killer of Martin, George Zimmerman, who, by the way, is a Democrat, ought to be arrested, drawn and quartered all without a trial. The trouble is that the media, until today have only reporting one side of the story, Martin's side.  Seems like it is possible that Martin may have actually been the aggressor.  We just don't know, but people have jumped to their own conclusions and some will end up looking like fools.
The second story is the Obama Care trial at the U.S. Supreme Court.  The pundits today, both conservative and liberal are saying that the justices are going to over turn Obama Care, which I hope they do.
But don't let the justices say in court fool you.  The justices love to play games and let people think they will vote one way and then it when it comes for the vote, they vote the other way. The justice's job is to ferret out all the facts in a case and then make their decision.
But just because someone says it is true, it just may not be.  The Martin case and the Obama Care case may look one way but the reality maybe another.

Pawn Stars Review March 26, 2012

It's supposed to be Spring outside, according to the calender, but here in Las Vegas, we are still getting winter on the weekends.  Today, it was a 3 layer day.  Yes, since I moved here from Wisconsin, I've been quite a wimp when it comes to cold weather, but still, it was about 50 degrees this morning with 30 mph winds, making it cold for us wimps.  Those who are visiting Las Vegas have to be disappointed when they come expecting warm weather and get cold.  And those who stand in line at the Gold and Silver Shop in their shorts ands short sleeve shirts waiting to get inside, I feel sorry for you.
Two more episodes of reruns at the 10:00 hour of Pawn Stars::  The first episode was first shown on January 24, 2012:
http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2012/01/pawn-stars-review-january-24-2012.html
And the second episode was first aired on June 13, 2011: http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2011/06/pawn-stars-reveiw-june-13-2011.html

Have a nice week and thanks for stopping by.

They're Dropping Like Flies

From the LVRJ:  Las Vegas attorney David Amesbury, who pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate in the federal investigation into fraud and corruption at homeowners associations, has been found dead in Northern California.
"I can confirm that he has died," said Frank Cremen, the defense lawyer who had been representing Amesbury in the investigation.
Cremen said Amesbury's body was found hanging Sunday at his brother's property in Grass Valley, Calif., where he was recovering from injuries he sustained in a brutal assault in Henderson in November. Grass Valley is a small community northeast of Sacramento.
Amesbury, 57, who once ran a popular courthouse restaurant, is the second attorney and key player in the sweeping federal investigation to turn up dead in less than a week.
Last Tuesday, embattled construction defects attorney Nancy Quon, a major target of the probe, was found dead in the bathtub of her Henderson condominium at The District. Henderson police have not ruled out suicide.
A few days after FBI agents and Las Vegas police conducted a valleywide raid in the investigation in September 2008, former police officer Christopher Van Cleef shot himself to death. His name had surfaced in the investigation as a possible target.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/attorney-involved-in-homeowners-associations-probe-found-dead-144258055.html
I hope we are having some good investigations going on.  After all,two attorney's biting the dust in less than a week cannot be good.  After all, the sharks can only eat so much debris.

Maybe They Should Check The North Pole?

From the reno Gazette Herald: Search and rescue teams have been searching Pershing County for a Colorado man missing since March 17.
James “Jim” Klemovich, 76, of Denver was last heard from March 17 when he called his wife, Joann, to let her know he had arrvied at his destination near Winnemucca. He had departed Denver on March 16 to travel to Nevada to meet with business associate Lazlo Szaba.
He told his wife he would be home in a week, however, Klemovich failed to attend a meeting scheduled for March 18 and has not been heard of since. He is in ill health with diabetes and a heart condition.
He was last seen driving a silver/grey 1995 Lincoln Town car with Colorado license plate #468MTP.
http://www.rgj.com/article/20120326/NEWS07/303260033/Search-under-way-Pershing-County-missing-Colorado-man
Seriously, I hope they find Mr. Klemovich and he is doing well.

Update: Mr. Klemovich was found alive.  From the RGH:
One of the two men reported missing in Pershing County was found dead Wednesday evening in a remote area, while the other was found alive after 10 days in the desert.James Klemovich, 76, from Colorado, was found in good health near the vehicle, Pershing County Sheriff Richard Machado said.
Klemovich told deputies that the man he was with, Laszlo Szabo, 75, of Lovelock, had walked away from the vehicle several days earlier to find cellular telephone service, Machado said. Military personnel searched the area and found Szabo dead about a mile and a half from the vehicle.

Las Vegas Blacks For florida Victim, Not Las Vegas's Victims

From the Las Vegas Sun:  It’s been one month since a Neighborhood Watch captain fatally shot an unarmed, black teen wearing a hooded sweatshirt in Florida, sparking a cry for justice across the nation. Las Vegas followed suit Sunday afternoon, as 100 people, many donning hooded sweatshirts, gathered outside Raw Remedies, 203 E. Colorado Ave., seeking answers for what happened to 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Police in Sanford, Fla., have not arrested or charged the shooter, 28-year-old George Zimmerman, who claimed he was acting in self-defense.
“We wanted to show some solidarity here in Vegas and make sure this doesn’t happen here,” said Desirée Duncan, who helped organize the event. Similar gatherings occurred in cities nationwide this weekend.
Attendees in Las Vegas acknowledged that Martin easily could have been their brother, cousin, nephew or friend.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/mar/25/las-vegas-group-gathers-mark-one-month-shooting-fl/?aff=mynews3
Umm, there have been many victims in Las Vegas and these people are not marching for them.  Why not?  Remember the name Betty Pinkney?
And this comment:   Now, Banks frequently calls her sons, who attend college in Oklahoma, to check on their safety, and she has decided against attending law school in Florida.
Banks said her decision stems from Florida authorities’ handling of the investigation. Earlier this month, authorities released 911 recordings that revealed dispatchers told Zimmerman not to follow Martin.
What, you  are going to give up a law career because of some bozos down in Florida?  My guess is that Banks was not going to Florida in the first place, but she suckered a reporter who is probably pretty gullible.
So, hopefully, these people protesting in front of TV cameras will also decide to protest for the innocent murder victims in Las Vegas and they can start with protesting why the Betty Pinkney murder is not being solved because of the code of silence by the youth in the Valley.

Happy Birthday To Two Polar Opposites

March 25 has a lot of celebrity birthdays.  Danica Patrick, Arertha Franklin, James Lovell and Sarah jessica Parker.
March 25 is also the date of two singers who are total opposites: Anita Bryant and Elton John.
Anita Bryant is best known for her anti-gay speeches and Elton John who is known for his music and his flamboyant gay life style.
So, Happy Birthday to both:

After Watching The Wizard Of Oz 100 Times....

I've probably watched the Wizard of Oz 100 time or more in my lifetime, and it just brings back a flood of memories and useless knowledge.
When I was about 5 years old and until I was about 7 years old, I could not watch the scenes with the Wicked Witch of the West because I was so scared of her and I ended up under my parents covers, hiding in fear.
When I was in about 7th grade, I acted in a play in Wauwatosa, WI., and I played the part of a flying monkey.  No lines, thank goodness other than squeals.  We would travel throughout the school district and put on plays for the kids in the elementary schools.  It was a lot of fun except for 1 thing:  When there were songs, like Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead, the people not on stage were encouraged to sing, which I did.  But then the director of our play told me to shut up because I sang badly and that was the end of my singing.. Ever.  Maybe I will mouth the words to a song in Church, but that's about it.

Anyways, did you know that the premire of the Wizard of Oz wasnot in Hoillywood or New York, but in Oconomowoc, WI.?  Yep, it's true:
A groundbreaking movie that some may consider the most popular and greatest in the history of the cinema didn't hit a theater in Hollywood or New York, but in the western Milwaukee suburb of Oconomowoc.
"It's a fact we take pride in," said Craig Pruscha, who founded Moonlit Movies - a group re-showing the movie Thursday night in Downtown Oconomowoc.
The amazing fact is, MGM didn't take much pride in a movie which they thought might be a bust, so they decided upon Oconomowoc instead of the big red carpet treatment in Tinseltown.
"Oconomowoc was one of three locations that was selected to be a soft marketing launch for the world premiere in 1939," explained Pruscha. Kenosha was another soft launch site chosen.
http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/53036472.html
And only just a few few years ago, I finally figured out what the witch's guardsmen were saying when they entered the castle: "Oh We Love The Old One".
Finally, I found a YouTube video of goofs in the movie you may find interesting:

The Wizard of Oz is a great film, that affected my life but it is still fun to watch.

Liberal Hate On Display

From the CBS web site in regards to Dick Cheney receiving a heart transplant, here are some of the comments from the peanut liberal gallery:
It must have taken 20 months to find another heart black enough for him.
No matter which side of the political fence you are on, LIFE IS PRECIOUS.
*************
Tell that to Cheney... the killer of more than 100,000 innocents
Organ donor, sure ... probably had someone killed and stole their heart
Shame on YOU!
Every minute this demon lives is a curse on the world. Have you no honor?? We are talking about the person who lied this country into wars that took the lives of more than 100,000 innocents simply so he could pass 'no bid' contracts to his company. This creature is just as evil as Hitler was, and you praise him...
SHAME ON YOU!

ou Baggers and Wingnuts can call me anything you want, but this SOB is the most vile and evil creature that has fouled the earth in all of my 65 years. He is a war profiteer. Thousands upon thousands of innocents have died simply so this demon could have more money. I sincerely hope that this miserable excuse for a human suffers a horrible and painful death... and very soon.
I can't stand this bastard and don't know anyone who can! Only an EVIL person can continue to live as long as he has with a faulty heart.
http://www.cbsnews.com/8601-503544_162-57403969-2.html?assetTypeId=41&blogId=503544&tag=contentBody;commentWrapper

And here I thought that the liberals were supposed kind and compassionate.  I guess not, just a bunch of hate filled jerks.

Well, At Least Liberals Now Know He Has One

For many years, liberals have attacked former Vice President Dick Cheney of being heartless, but today, Cheney underwent a heart transplant surgery and received a new heart.
From CBS News: Former Vice President Dick Cheney received a heart transplant on Saturday, his office announced.
A statement from the former vice president's office said the 71-year-old is now recovering in the intensive care unit of Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va., outside Washington.
The statement said Cheney had been on the transplant list for 20 months and did not know the identity of the donor.
"Although the former vice president and his family do not know the identity of the donor, they will be forever grateful for this lifesaving gift," the statement read.
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-57403969-503544/dick-cheney-receives-heart-transplant/
I thought a 71 year old may be too old for a heart transplant but times have changed and now older people do get heart transplants.  And for those who say Cheney got preferential treatment, well, he was on the waiting list for 20 months and that's a pretty long time.
I hope that Cheney, with his new heart, now will live a longer life and continue to be a thorn in liberal's butts.

And if you read some of the comments on the CBS web site, you will see how sick many liberals are.  What a pathetic bunch of creeps.

Obama's EPA Slapped Down

From The West Virginia Gazette:  A federal judge has overturned the Obama administration's veto of the largest mountaintop-removal mining permit in West Virginia history, saying the agency greatly oversteps its authority in blocking the controversial project.
U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson ruled that the federal Environmental Protection Agency is not authorized to withdraw a Clean Water Act permit that already was issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
"This is a stunning power for an agency to arrogate to itself when there is absolutely no mention of it in the statute," Jackson wrote in a 34-page opinion that's been highly anticipated by all sides in the mountaintop-removal debate.
Jackson called the language at issue in the law unclear and confusing, but said the EPA's reading was not a reasonable interpretation.
The decision is a major victory not only for mine operator Arch Coal Inc. but also for the coal industry and for Appalachian political leaders who have been waging a bitter campaign against the EPA's crackdown on mountaintop removal.
"We're pleased the district court has ruled in our favor -- confirming that our Spruce No. 1 permit remains valid," said Kim Link, a spokeswoman for St. Louis-based Arch Coal.
Hal Quinn, president of the National Mining Association, said the ruling "struck another blow for restoring the rule of law and regulatory certainty by rejecting the EPA view that it has unbounded authority to retroactively revoke permits issued by another federal agency."
http://www.wvgazette.com/News/201203230106 Once again, Obama and his minions have chosen to side with wacko environmentalists over people and jobs.  Thankfully, a judge in West Virgina saw through the BS of the Obama administration and ruled with common sense.

More Patrick Coolican Stupidity

Today, Patrick Coolican, resident Neanderthal of the Las Vegas Sun writes about the problems between the thug union, the Culinary Union and Station Casinos, which is basically non union.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/mar/23/culinary-union-appears-dug-long-fight-against-stat/First, Coolican puts a video from a local TV station saying there is a possible Culinary Union strike against Station Casinos.  Except there is 1 slight problem: The Culinary Union does not represent workers at Station Casinos, so how can there be a strike?  Maybe a protest, but not a strike.
Coolican does point out some pitfalls of the Culinary Union:  Since the judge’s ruling, though, the union, which represents more than 50,000 workers on the Strip, has seemed uncharacteristically off its game and off message. Sen. Steven Horsford, presumably a strong Democratic ally, ignored a union admonition that officeholders not take money linked to Station Casinos, as first reported by my colleague Jon Ralston.
Culinary workers at a downtown restaurant reportedly harangued Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh for putting up his business guests at Station-owned Green Valley Ranch, and the incident leaked into the media.
On Thursday, the Culinary again went sideways, scheduling a rally at Red Rock Resort the same night the property was hosting a big fundraiser for Bishop Gorman, the Catholic high school, at which the Engelstad Family Foundation was to be honored.
But Coolican has decided to side with the union, which is not a surprise since Coolican is an extremist liberal.
From the article: If the Fertitta brothers, who control Station Casinos, seem dug in, the workers are just as hunkered down, Taylor said.
“Those workers are not going anywhere, and they feel very strong and they’re extremely determined,” he said.
Yeah, Mr. Taylor, head of the Culinary thugs, the workers at Station Casinos are dug in: Against the union.

So, When Will Obama And Others Address Black On Black Crime?

There was a bad incident down in Florida in which a a teenage kid was killed by a neighborhood watch person.  There has been a lot of talk by the usual race baiters like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have weighed in with their usual shrill voices saying the world is going to end.
Even President Obama has weighed in, saying the victim would look his child.
That's all and good.
So,when will Obama, Sharpton, Jackson start talking about black on black crime, including murders?
In Las Vegas, a student at the school I teach at, was murdered.  Betty Pinkey was shot and killed at a party in the northeast side of Las Vegas about 2 months ago and the police still have not found her killer, mainly because of the code of silence in Las Vegas.
So, when will Obama, Jackson, Sharpton, and the black leaders of Las Vegas speak up about Betty's murder?  When will these clowns talk about black on black crime in inner city neighborhoods?  These clowns don't care about black on black on crime, much less care about the unemployment rates with minorities.  They are just race baiters who run to the closest TV camera to spew their venom.
If President Obama actually cared about the living conditions of the inner city, he would visit an inner city.  But Obama flees in the opposite direction.  Obama has been to Las Vegas at least 7 times and not once has he visited the poor areas of Las Vegas.
So, when Obama is done playing the race card in the Trayvon Martin case, then maybe he can get involved in the other crimes in the inner cities of America, including black on black crime.

Brokered GOP Convention?

From the Washington Examiner:
Even if he wins half of the remaining Republican presidential delegates,
front-runner Mitt Romney will fall 345 delegates short of the 1,144
needed to win the nomination, possibly setting up a brokered
convention, according to a new analysis by the “super PAC” backing
challenger Rick Santorum.

In a white paper from the Red, White & Blue Fund, the
analysis shows that Romney would have only 799 “bound” delegates going
into the Tampa GOP convention. Romney’s team claims that their math has
them winning more than 1,144.
RW&B said: “So far, 697 delegates have been allocated by either state party rule or state law to particular candidates. If each candidate continues
to accumulate the 918 remaining delegates that will be bound at the
same rate, no candidate will reach 1,144 going into Tampa. Mitt Romney
currently has 344 delegates by our count. If he continues to accumulate
bound delegates at the same rate (49% of bound delegates) moving
forward, he will add approximately 450 of the 918 delegates still to be
bound. This would give Romney only 799 delegates going into Tampa.

The fund starts at a lower number of delegates for each candidate than most
media counts. The reason: They only count bound delegates, of which
there are fewer. For example, their delegate list has Romney with 344,
Santorum with 193, Newt Gingrich with 160 and Ron Paul with 33.

http://washingtonexaminer.com/politics/washington-secrets/2012/03/santo-group-romney-will-fall-345-delegates-short/397166
I think a brokered convention will be good for the GOP.  It will create a crazy atmosphere with lots of media attention and will create a lot of interest in the GOP party.  There will wall to wall coverage of a brokered convention and most of the publicity will be positive.  And since many GOP just don't like the current crop of GOP candidate, we actually may get a different candidate for president.  The more attention on a brokered means less attention on Obama and that will be a positive.

Another Reason Why Prevailing Wage Laws Suck

From Firehouse.com:  Nearly a month after being dealt a setback by state lawmakers, officials in the Sissonville Volunteer Fire Department said they are scratching their heads over labor rules they must follow in the rebuilding of their main fire station.
Late in the Legislature's recent session, House leadership pulled a bill from the agenda that would have exempted state volunteer fire departments from prevailing wage and labor rules that other public authorities must follow for expansion projects.
"It's the ultimate irony that a volunteer department is compelled to pay prevailing wage," said Tom Miller, a volunteer firefighter and secretary of the department's board of directors.
"I've worked for 27, almost 28 years for my community for free, and now I'm having to pay prevailing wage to build a building," he said.
"I'm not anti-union, but it just boggles me."
Miller said if the bill had passed, it likely would have saved the department about $645,000 in construction costs to rebuild the station, which burned to the ground in October 2010....
"A drywall hanger, which we would have gotten for free (from volunteers), we now have to pay $44.11 per hour," he said.
"We had what we felt was an extremely reasonable bid from a local company to lay cement, and now we're forced to pay 42.62 an hour for that work. That's about $15 or $16 more per hour than what that bid came in at."
Miller said the bill's demise affected 17 other volunteer fire departments with expansion projects.
"Keep in mind, every dollar this is increased is another hot dog I have to sell, another fundraiser we have to conduct," Miller said.
http://www.firehouse.com/news/10669333/labor-rules-complicate-wva-fire-station-rebuild
So,the volunteer fire department, which has many volunteers with many talents in construction, will have to pay over $40 an hour when they could have gotten the work done for free.
That's not right and it shows once again that liberals would rather stick it to volunteer organizations all in the name of unions.
Shame, shame, shame.

Stick A Fork In Santorum, He's Done

I was a Rick Santorum fan... until tonight.
From CBS: DC:  Presidential candidate Rick Santorum on Thursday said Republicans should give President Barack Obama another term if Santorum isn’t the GOP nominee and for a second day compared rival Mitt Romney to an Etch A Sketch toy.
Santorum reiterated an argument he has made before: The former Massachusetts governor is not conservative enough to offer voters a clear choice in the fall election and that only he can provide that contrast.
“You win by giving people a choice,” Santorum said during a campaign stop in Texas. “You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone who’s just going to be a little different than the person in there.”
Santorum added: “If they’re going to be a little different, we might as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk of what may be the Etch A Sketch candidate for the future.”
http://washington.cbslocal.com/2012/03/22/santorum-might-as-well-have-obama-over-romney/
Santorum sounds like a crybaby when he says that if cant have the nomination, then I am going to take my ball and go home and let the worst president in history continue to destroy the country.
I do understand Santorum's mistrust of Romney.  Romney/Obama Care and other bad laws that were passed when Romney was governor in Massachusetts.  However, Romney will be so much better than Obama as president.  Romney actually ran a business, unlike Obama, had to pay workers unlike Obama, knows how regulations hurts business unlike Obama and Romney seems to be more down to earth than Obama.
So, Rick,if you really think that the country is better off with Obama than Romney, it's time to get out of the race.  The presidential race is not all about the personal candidates, it's about what is right for the country.  As hard as it pains me to say this, Rick, it's time to get out of the race, with this small caveat- Santorum may have been misquoted by the media and if this true, then stay in the race.

But He's A Good Boy

From Las Vegas Channel 13 News:
Relatives of a 19 year old man found dead in a backyard in Summerlin, want to know why the man who shot him has not been charged.
17 year old Tavion Carter spoke out Thursday, on behalf of his devastated family. Carter said, "It's just crucial to find out that it's our brother. That he's gone."
Carter described his beloved brother, 19 year old Demarcus Carter as a good guy who liked to kid around. His older brother was found dead in the backyard of a home near Sahara and Hualapai on Tuesday. The resident shot and killed him claimed Carter was trying to break into the home. Tavion Carter told Action News, his brother did have a past.
"He got into some trouble."
http://www.ktnv.com/news/local/143910676.html
He got into some trouble:
From the LVRJ:  A teenager who was shot and killed by a Summerlin resident on Tuesday had a history of burglaries, according to police and court records.
Demarcus Carter, 19, was arrested in North Las Vegas in April and charged with 13 felony counts of burglary, grand larceny and possession of stolen property, court records show.
He was sentenced to three years probation in December but was arrested again in February after violating the terms of his probation, records show.
Las Vegas police sources said Thursday that Carter was associated with a gang, although details were not given.
Sources said Carter also had a lengthy juvenile record, but those crimes were not disclosed because he was a minor.
In the April burglary, Carter and another teenager were caught under North Las Vegas police surveillance breaking into a home and stealing valuables, including an $800 watch. Both men had been suspected in numerous break-ins in the area, according to an arrest report.
During the interview with police, Carter confessed to several other burglaries. In one instance, Carter told police he stole a class ring from a home and gave it to his mother.
When she asked where he got the ring, Carter told his mother, "I stole it from some little white boy," the report said. His mother, Vierla Johnson, pawned the ring for $800 and gave the cash to Carter and his friend, the report said. Carter traded his mother marijuana for the money.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/man-slain-in-summerlin-yard-had-burglary-record-gang-ties-143869966.html
Well, in a way I feel sorry for the dead thug.  When he has a mother who is involved in crime, the thug probably had no chance to lead a normal life.
But the family of the dead thug cannot see the forest for the trees.  The dead thug was only 19 years old and already had 13 felonies filed against him and more as juvenile.  In the community, he was not a good person, he was a thug and now, we don't have to worry about his DNA being in the gene pool.

I'm Sure Rush Is Enjoying The Attention

Liberals are doing their most to make themselves look like fools as they try to silence Rush Limbaugh because of Rush's comments about a liberal tool who was used for political gain by the Democrats.
From the Washington Times:  Rush Limbaugh’s opponents are starting a radio campaign against him Thursday, seizing upon the radio star’s attack of a Georgetown law student as a “slut” to make a long-term effort aimed at weakening his business.
The liberal Media Matters for America is using a past campaign against Glenn Beck as a template. In Limbaugh, however, they’re going after bigger game. He’s already fighting back and the group’s stance has provoked concerns that an effort to silence someone for objectionable talk is in itself objectionable.
Media Matters is spending at least $100,000 for two advertisements that will run in eight cities.
The ads use Limbaugh’s own words about student Sandra Fluke, who told congressional Democrats that contraception should be paid for in health plans. Limbaugh, on his radio programs, suggested Fluke wanted to be paid to have sex, which made her a “slut” and a “prostitute.” In return for the money, he said Fluke should post videos of herself having sex. Under sharp criticism, Limbaugh later apologized.
In one of the anti-Limbaugh ads, listeners are urged to call the local station that carries Limbaugh to say “we don’t talk to women like that” in our city.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/mar/22/radio-campaign-next-step-against-rush-limbaugh/
You know Limbaugh is just laughing at all of this attention.  Limbaugh is an attention seeking hound and he loves to stick to liberals at times like this and Limbaugh has tricked the liberals again into playing Limbaugh's game.
Do you honestly think these advertisements are actually going to work?  No, what it will probably do is increase Limbaugh's ratings at a time when they were probably stagnate.
Limbaugh is probably sitting back at his Palm Beach mansion laughing his butt off at the foolish behavior of the liberals.  All this has done is make liberals look foolish and petty by trying to deny free speech rights to Limbaugh.  And the number 1 fool in Nevada is Shelly Berkley, soon to be unemployed congress woman.

Pahrump Valley Times Shows It's Stupidity Again

The writers at the Pahrump Valley Times are a strange breed.  They pretend they are muckrakers, but they really are not.  They have an agenda and if the PVT likes you, they will go to the mat for you, even if it makes them look stupid.  And if they do not like you (conservatives) they will go after you.
Well, the PVT is at it again, defending a judge, who at best, is not very bright and at the worst, biased to the point of having to be kicked off of cases and could be guilty of misconduct.
From the comment section of the PVT:
Comment removed.Stay on topic and the topic is Judge Wanker being human and making the same mistake in her comments about Robbins, that Robbins made in his comments to his wife about her… not Robbins innocence or guilt.
PVT
http://pvtimes.com/news/judge-recuses-self-from-murder-case-after-bias-claim/

So,in the small minds at the PVT, the comments by Judge Wanker and the defendant, Daniel Robbins are the moral equivalent.  So does the PVT think Wanker is as bad as Robbins?  Or does the PVT think Robbins is an upstanding citizen as the Judge is supposed to be?
Judge Wanker swore an oath to be impartial and be held to high standards.  The defendant, Robbins, has not sworn an oath to be impartial or held to high standards.  Further, Robbins was exercising his free speech, which he is entitled to.
Wanker, when she became a judge, lost some free speech rights.  She cannot make comments that will question her impartiality, for instance.
There is no moral equivalence between what Wanker said and what Robbins said, but the PVT just doesn't that.
Of course, when I tried to show the PVT the errors they made, they responded like they usually do- they refused to print my comment.  How they hate to be shown up by a little old blogger who has high readership than the PVT does.
I think the writers at the PVT think the citizens of Pahrump Nye County are just a bunch of uneducated hicks and that the writers at the PVT much smarter than they are.  In reality, most, if not all, of the writers at the PVT are just a bunch of elitist snobs.

Stupid Democrat Looking For Attention

Senate Durbin, approiately named Dick (h/t Jerry Doyle) is seeking attention for himself by wanting to hold Senate hearings on the bounties in the NFL and other sports.
From ESPN:
The Senate wants to grill the NFL about bounties. And the NBA, NHL, NCAA and Major League Baseball are invited, too.
Sen. Dick Durbin is setting up a Judiciary Committee hearing about bounties in professional football and other major sports in the wake of news that New Orleans Saints players received extra cash for hits that hurt particular opponents.
The assistant Senate majority leader, an Illinois Democrat, said Thursday he wants to examine whether federal law should make such bounty systems a crime.
"Let's be real basic about it here. If this activity were taking place off of a sporting field, away from a court, nobody would have a second thought [about whether it's wrong]. 'You mean, someone paid you to go out and hurt someone?' " Durbin said in a telephone interview before raising the issue on the floor of the Senate.
"It goes way beyond the rules of any sporting contest, at least team contest, to intentionally inflict harm on another person for a financial reward," he said.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7722853/new-orleans-saints-senator-dick-durbin-sets-hearing-bounties-nfl
What a dick.  The NFL has handled the bounty problem quite sufficiently with the use of fines and suspensions.  Why does the dick from Illinois want to make this against the law?  Why would he want to throw people in jail for a problem the NFL is handling?
What a dick, Durbin is.

NPRI: Obama Speaks At Solar Plant That Employs 5 People

From NPRI:  President Obama will tout investments in “renewable” energy Wednesday at the local Copper Mountain Solar 1 plant, although the plant has only five full-time employees.
The plant, owned by San Diego-based energy company Sempra, was built in late 2010 at a cost of $141 million. Funding included $42 million in federal-government tax credits and $12 million in tax-rebate commitments from the state of Nevada.

Construction of the plant involved over 300 part-time jobs, but currently only five full-time employees operate the plant, a Sempra spokeswoman confirmed. That comes out to $10.8 million in tax-dollar subsidies per employee.

Solar 1 is the largest solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in the country and is regarded as a “revenue generator” by Sempra. According to the Las Vegas Sun, Boulder City expects to receive over $60 million in lease revenue from the plant.
Boulder City Manager Vicki Mayes, however, told Nevada Journal the $60 million was "highly inaccurate" and that the total lease revenue will be "much less."
Increasing green-energy production has been one of President Obama’s main goals since he took office. Politicians such as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and officials including Secretary of Energy Steven Chu have zealously encouraged green-energy subsidies in Nevada.
http://www.writeonnevada.com/2012/03/obama-to-tout-green-energy-investments.html
Hmm, 5 full time jobs? And that is supposed to be a cure for our unemployment woes in Nevada.
Crybaby/Coward Harry Reid personally killed a couple of coal power plants in Northern Nevada that would have cost about $1 Billion to build and would have employed 200 workers full time at each plant.
So, which project helps the economy better, coal or solar?  Clearly, coal fired plants.  But Obama/Reid just do not care about employment, they only care about the Green agenda and the hell with workers, especially union workers.

Obama Comes To Las Vegas, Democrats Flee

So, who greeted President Obama when he came to Las Vegas today?
Was it Shelly Berkley, Democrat Congress woman from Las Vegas?  Nope.
Crybaby/Coward Harry Reid?  Nope.
Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman?  Nope.
Mayors Sherrie Buck and Andy Hafen, from North Las Vegas and Henderson?  Nope.
State Senator and Senate Leader Stephen (I can park wherever I want, including handicapped parking places) Nope
Any of the statewide elected Democrats, like our Attorney General, Treasurer or Ross Miller?  Nope.
Nope, the person who drew the short straw was a lowly Clark County commissioner, Susan Braeger.
Why are the Democrats abandoning Obama?
And why won't President Obama visit the poor areas of town?

Umm, Alan Stock, Why Don't You Tell The Truth?

This morning, Alan Stock on KDWN had on Wayne Allyn Root at 6:30 and they went to trash presidential candidate Rick Santourm's social issues.
Both Root and Stock ripped Santorum's social issues on pornography and abortion and saying that Santorum was hurting the Republican Party and the conservative movement.
Root was saying that he is conservative, except he's not.  Root is a Libertarian, and for president and vice president for the Libertarian Party.  So, of course he would be against a conservative's social views.  Libertarians believe that government should stay out people's business.  They believe in legalizing drugs, some believe in legalizing prostitution etc.
So, why didn't Stock and Root come out and say that Root was a Libertarian?  Why did Stock and Root pretend they are conservative when they are not?
Come on Alan Stock, why don't you reveal the truth about people?

Stating The Obvious: Nye County Judge Recuses Herself From Murder Case

This had to be the most obvious case of bias in a long time of a judge, anywhere.
From the Parhump Valley Times: Accusations of bias forced a District Court judge to recuse herself from hearing a high profile murder case.
Judge Kimberly Wanker signed an order on March 15 removing herself from the murder case of Daniel Robbins, a former state gaming control officer accused of shooting to death his teenage daughter’s 21-year-old boyfriend in August.
Robbins’ defense attorneys filed a motion on March 14 seeking Wanker’s removal from the case after the attorneys became aware of a recorded conversation between the judge and some court employees where it appeared the judge made several disparaging remarks about their client.
The recordings were of private conversations captured on Wanker’s courtroom taping system after a Feb. 6 bail hearing in which the judge blasted Robbins and denied him bail for the second time since his arrest.
Ironically, the judge had read into the record during that hearing several disparaging remarks that Robbins had made about her to his wife during conversations the couple had while Robbins was in police custody. Police routinely record such conversations, monitoring them for evidence that can be used in court.
In the transcript of the Feb. 6 courtroom recording attached to Robbins’ defense motion, Wanker is allegedly heard calling the defendant an “a**hole,” and saying that his reasons for shooting his pistol the night in question sounded like “bulls***.”
She also refers to several of Robbins’ supporters as “church people,” and makes clear that she read into the record during the hearing Robbins’ remarks about her as well as comments he made on Facebook to his daughter’s boyfriend before the shooting so that his supporters realized that he was “no saint.”

http://pvtimes.com/news/judge-recuses-self-from-murder-case-after-bias-claim/
If it is true, that she called the defendant a ass hole and his supporters church people, then not only should she be off the case, but a complaint with the Nevada Judicial Discipline Commission.
But I guess Wanker has her supporters: Numerous sources at the Pahrump courthouse, who did not wish to speak on the record for this story, suggest that Wanker made a “rookie mistake” in the Robbins case.
They all said that judges are human, too, and that judges often give their opinions about cases despite a tradition of impartiality. All agreed that Wanker has been a strong judge and an asset to Nye County.
And if Wanker were a conservative judge, the PVT would try and lynch her like they have done to other conservatives in Nye County.  But Matt Ward, the supposed muckraker at the PVT, has decided to give Wanker a pass.  What a hypocrite, Ward is.

Obama's Motorcade: Not Exactly Green Energy

Today,as I was coming home from work,I got to see the President Obama motorcade, right after Obama gave a speech on the benefits of green energy in Boulder City.
The motorcade consisted of at least 30 vehicles, many which were motorcycles, but you had at least 1 presidential SUV, 3 press vans, bomb squad truck, 2 ambulances, numerous police cars and more.
Then Obama gets into the Air Foirce 1 747 and blows off more carbon fuel.
All to give a speech about green energy?
Obama: Don't do as I do,do as I say.

New Orleans Saints Hit Big Time With Suspensions

The New Orleans Saints were handed the most severe penalities in NFL history today.
From ESPN:  Meting out unprecedented punishment for a crush-for-cash bounty system that targeted key opposing players, the NFL suspended New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton without pay for next season and indefinitely banned the team's former defensive coordinator, Gregg Williams.
Payton is the first head coach suspended by the league for any reason, accused of trying to cover up a system of extra cash payouts that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday called "particularly unusual and egregious" and "totally unacceptable."
Sending a message by taking a harsh stand, Goodell also banned Saints general manager Mickey Loomis for the first eight regular-season games next season -- believed to be the first time a GM was suspended by the NFL -- and assistant coach Joe Vitt for the first six games.
In addition, Goodell fined the Saints $500,000 and took away their second-round draft picks this year and next.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7718136/sean-payton-new-orleans-saints-banned-one-year-bountiesBut this wasn't  the biggest NFL story.  The biggest story of the day was the Tim Tebow trade to the New York Jets.
The punishments seem a bit tough for the Saints because it pretty much will ruin their season, which is unfair to the Saints and their fans.  In addition, the NFL didn't cite any plays where a player was paid.
But if money was given to the players, the NFL is the least of their problems, I am sure the IRS is chomping at the bit to see if taxes were paid on the money given to the players.

Reason #12564 Why Obama Is A 1 Term President

If President Obama wants to win re-election, he has to be perceived that he actually cares about the middle class.  Right now, all Obama is trying to do is shove his values down the throats of the American people.
Obama is coming to Vegas and Boulder City and is going to show off the solar panels of Boulder City.  Well, What Obama and the media are leaving out is the failure of a solar panel plant, leaving Boulder City with a $3,000,000 budget deficit.
Sol Bio is a green energy in Boulder City, NV. Well, it is name only and maybe a web site. Well, they have about 2,200 acres in Boulder City and they owe about $3 million in lease payments to the City of Boulder City. Well, that's a huge chunk out of their $22.7 million budget.
From the Las Vegas Sun: Boulder City is still waiting for a $3 million lease payment, more than six months late, from a renewable energy firm that planned to build a solar panel plant in the Eldorado Valley.
City Manager Vicki Mayes had added an item to the agenda for Tuesday’s city council meeting to discuss a guarantee by Advanced Energy Innovations, Inc., to take over the lease from SolBio Energy for the 2,200-acre piece of land and pay the balance. But she withdrew it at the meeting’s outset.
The unpaid bill has left a $3 million hole in Boulder City’s $22.7 million budget for the 2011 fiscal year, which began in July. The $2 billion project was approved in December 2009, and SolBio planned to break ground in early 2010.
Mayes announced three phases of freezes and cuts at the city council’s Aug. 24 meeting to address the gap if the revenue doesn’t come. She confirmed Tuesday that the city had implemented the first phase on Sept. 1: a freeze on capital spending and a freeze on hiring vacant positions, such as an empty police sergeant slot.

http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2010/09/more-green-energy-bs.html
Obama doesn't want lower gas prices because that is against his policies of green energy, support of public transportation and trains, and the use of alternative energy sources.  He wants to force his policies on us, even though the majority of Americans are against his policies.
Now, presidents can do little to lower or raise gas prices, but the public believes they do.  Certainly, liberals believed George Bush could influence gas prices, but they are quiet when it comes to Obama.
But now that gas is at $4 a gallon and rising, which causes other food and non food items prices to rise, people are going to be voting with their wallets and this will make Obama a 1 term president.
It's the economy, stupid, as Bill Clinton loved to say and it is true.

Very Strange

A lawyer who is under investigation regarding corrupt HOAs, was found dead in her bathtub today.
From the LVRJ Nancy Quon, the embattled construction defects attorney who was a key target of a federal investigation into fraud and corruption at Las Vegas Valley homeowners associations, was found dead Tuesday.
Keith Paul, a spokesman for the Henderson Police Department, said a family member had discovered Quon's body in the bathtub of her condominium at The District in Henderson.
Police were called to the scene about 1:40 p.m., he said.
Paul said no foul play is suspected but police are conducting a death investigation. He would not provide details of the death scene and would not discuss whether a suicide note was found.
Sources said alcohol may have played a role in Quon's death. One source said she had been drinking in the bathtub and may have passed out.
Assistant Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg said the office won't have a cause of death for six to eight weeks, until a toxicology report is done.
The coroner took the body away about 6 p.m.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/nancy-quon-found-dead-in-bathtub-143575356.html
This has been a weird case involving attorneys, contractors, rigged HOA (Home Owner Associations) elections, fraud etc.  Earlier, a lawyer involved in the HOA investigations was severely injured when somebody broke his knee caps and more.
I might be wrong, but not too many people die in their bathtubs without foul play, even if they had been drinking.  I hope the Henderson police really look into this case to see what really happened.

Obama Visit To Disrupt 10's Of Thousands Of People

President Obama is coming to Las Vegas tomorrow and will disrupt well over 10,000 people in the Valley.
From the LVRJ:  President Barack Obama will be touching down in Las Vegas shortly before noon Wednesday and heading to Boulder City to visit Sempra Energy's Copper Mountain Solar Energy Plant as part of a four-state election year swing.
Motorists are advised to stay away from Boulder City during his visit, scheduled at the plant between 12:30 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. The public is not invited to attend.....
Government entities and law enforcement officials are prohibited from providing the exact route of the president's motorcade, which will cause traffic interruptions throughout the day. It is likely that the motorcade will travel from McCarran to Boulder City on Interstate 215 and U.S. Highway 95.
The Secret Service is expected to close down both sides of the freeways as the motorcade passes through.
Boulder City commuters will feel the brunt of Obama's visit.
Lakeshore Drive will be the only route out of Boulder City during Obama's visit to the plant.
Around 11:55 a.m., Boulder City Police will shut down northbound U.S. Highway 93 at the Veterans Memorial Drive intersection for about 40 minutes. U.S. Highway 95 south from Railroad Pass to Russell Road also will be shut down for 40 minutes.
About 1:40 p.m., the northbound lanes on U.S. Highway 93 at Veterans Memorial Drive will be closed again for 40 minutes as the president passes through Railroad Pass.
Motorists traveling north on U.S. Highway 93 from Arizona will be diverted to Lakeshore Drive to get to Boulder City or Henderson.
Those who do not have business in Boulder City between noon and 3 p.m. are asked to avoid the town, to leave Nevada Highway to truckers and business owners and residents.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/obama-s-swing-into-boulder-city-will-shut-some-roads-143580586.html
Once again, Obama's ego, err visit will shut down the tourist helicopters, who will lose thousands of dollars.  In addition, Boulder City sounds like that is going to be shut down for several hours, hurting their businesses.
In addition, the traffic from .McCarren Airport and Boulder City will be severely disrupted and those roads, the 215 and 95 carry a large amount of traffic.
And once again, Obama shows once again he does not want to be seen in a poor area of town, completely ignoring the poorsectio0ns of town.  Why does Obama hate the poor so much?
On the plus side, Obama will be passing by my house, so I will be able to show Obama my true feelings of him.

Coptic Pope Dies

From ahramonline: Don’t say the pope died ... The pope is in heaven!" chanted thousands of Coptic Christians who had gathered at Cairo's Abbassiya Cathedral to pay their final respects to Pope Shenouda III who died on Saturday. His body was placed on St Mark's seat at dawn on Sunday and will be embalmed to preserve the body until the funeral on Tuesday.
It is said that the pope wished to be buried at Anba Bishoy Monastery in Wadi Al-Natroun.
http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/1/0/37017/Egypt/0/Ancient-traditions-to-guide-selection-of-new-Copti.aspx
And how do they elect a new Pope?:
Following Shenouda's death, the eldest member of the Holy Synod's archbishops will become acting pope until a new patriarch is seated. If the eldest archbishop, Anba Mikhail of Assiut, who was consecrated in 1946, declines to undertake the role, Archbishop Anba Pachomeus of Beheira, who was consecrated in 1971 and is the second eldest member of the Holy Synod, will become acting patriarch for two months until a new pope is elected.
According to Coptic Orthodox tradition, the pope is elected by a number of processes. Candidates, chosen among monks and archbishops, must be at least 40 years old and have been monks for at least 15 years. Following an election, the names of the three candidates with the most votes are written on pieces of paper and placed in a box to be picked by a child — not more than nine years old — whose eyes are closed.
The candidates are nominated through the Holy Synod (the highest authority in the church, comprising 120 archbishops), the Monks Synod, Melli Council members, dioceses, and members of the Coptic Councils in the People's Assembly and Shura Council.
Once His Holiness was asked in his weekly lecture whether it was possible to skip over these processes in choosing the pope. His Holiness answered "No." A white dove is said to have descended onto Shenouda's desk. The people then understood the great value of tradition.
It's a tough time in Egypt now and with Pope Shenouda dying, this is not going to help. He was a steady force within Egypt and probably has prevented a mass slaughter of Christian Egyptians since the revolution took place a couple of years ago.
It will be interesting to see the process play out with selecting a new pope and how they will pick the child to pull a name out of a box to name the new pope.

Las Vegas Sun's Editorial On Yucca Mountain

Today, the Las Vegas Sun ran a pathetic editorial on why Nevada does not need Yucca Mountain to store used nuclear fue here in Nevadal.  The Sun has 5 reasons why Yucca should not continue as a waste site and I offer my rebuttals.
1.  Nye County Supports it:
The president’s blue-ribbon panel on nuclear waste recently recommended the government find places that want nuclear waste instead of forcing it on a state, thus prompting Nye County’s solicitation.
However, Gov. Brian Sandoval last week wrote to the Energy Department reaffirming Nevada’s opposition, noting that “Nye County cannot and does not speak for the state of Nevada.”
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/mar/18/reasons-why-those-who-support-yucca-mountain-are-w/?hpop
Nye County and the Counties surrounding Yucca also want Yucca to start up again. They realize the potential benefits and the hazards. While Sandoval says Nye County doesn't speak for Nevada, they know more about Yucca.  I would suggest a state wide referendum to see what the support is.
2.  People Are For It:
So what about this new poll that purportedly shows support for Yucca Mountain? People who responded to the poll were told that Yucca Mountain “is no longer being actively developed to store the waste.” Odd that there’s no mention of the nuclear energy industry’s continued push, isn’t it? Then, people asked if they were in favor of keeping Yucca Mountain open “for the study and potential reprocessing of nuclear waste into usable energy because of the jobs and money such a would bring into the state or close Yucca Mountain altogether to help protect Nevada’s environment.”
Again, lets hold a referendum. I am sure the vote would be close, but the opponents don't a referendum because they will find out that that they are wrong.  Let's hold the advisory referendum in November, where we will have a great deal of voters voting in the presidential and Senate race elections.
3.  Nevada Energy Park: The nuclear energy industry supporters say the nation shouldn’t let all the money spent on Yucca Mountain go to waste, thus the effort to create an “energy park” for research and development of nuclear waste reprocessing.
However, reprocessing is already being studied in laboratories elsewhere, and there is no reason to think that scientists would move their labs to a site 100 miles from Las Vegas where the draw would be ... a huge hole in the ground.
The Sun is worried about the slippery slop that would happen if we open a laboratory at Yucca Mountain.  Here's a note to the Sun.  We already have nuclear waste dumping in Nevada.   Yep,we store low grade nuclear was here in Nevada.  That slippery slope has already begun and you know what?  Nevada is still here and people have not died nor have they stopped coming to Las Vegas to party.
4.  ‘We could negotiate for benefits’
Some of the dump’s supporters say that Nevada should negotiate with the federal government for benefits in return for taking the waste dump. But who’s going to write the check? The members of Congress pushing this?
In 2002, Rep. John Shimkus, R-Ill., one of the biggest dump supporters in Congress, called on Nevada to “fulfill (its) nuclear legacy and continue to aid this nation and our citizens” by taking the waste.
On the floor of the House, Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., recently said his state should have the “right” to “be rid of this waste.”
“Nevada must either rebate the billions of dollars already spent on Yucca Mountain or stand out of the way and allow the facility to open for business,” Duncan said.
We actually had a chance to get benefits from having Yucca Mountain many years ago, before they even put a hole in the ground.  And I would think that the Federal government can give us something in return, like money and jobs.
When Yucca was shuttered by Crybaby/Coward Harry Reid and others, they laid off about 10,000 workers who either worked directly or indirectly for Yucca.  That's a hell of a benefit.
And yes,I think Nevada owes the taxpayers of the U.S. some money for closing it down, thanks to our beloved but truly senile Senate leader, Crybaby/Coward Harry Reid.
5/. The Bottom Line:
There has been discussion that there are jobs to be had with Yucca Mountain. There will be jobs during construction, but after that, how many people does it take to baby-sit nuclear waste? And if this is such a good deal for Nevada, wouldn’t the other states — especially those with waste in them — be lining up for these jobs?
They’re not, and they don’t want to make a deal, either. They want Nevada to take the waste. Period.
Nevada’s leaders shouldn’t be fooled by any of these disingenuous and manipulative attempts to rally support for Yucca Mountain. The fact remains that Yucca Mountain is bad policy and Nevadans don’t want it. It’s past time for the nation to move on.
There are other cities and states who want a facility like Yucca Mountain, but they have not come forward yet because Yucca is not dead yet.
But once again, the Las Vegas Sun has their heads up the butt of Brian "The Coward" Greenspun butt, by pooh pooing jobs and job creation.  According to the Sun,these are just the wrong kind of jobs. This is a very elitist point of view and it screws your everyday worker.
Just like President Obama killing the Keystone pipeline, killing tens of thousands of jobs, the liberals in Nevada are killing about 10,000 jobs as well.  Why are they so against job creation and union jobs at that?

A Very Sad Story

On Friday, a 11 year old student died when she was run over by a school bus on the Northwest side of Las Vegas.
From the LVRJ: On Friday afternoon, a school bus struck and killed an 11-year-old girl at the corner of Pebble Rock and Fall Cliff Road, the street where Fillmore and her family live.
She said Saturday that she didn't know the girl or her family, but she feels sick every time she thinks about it.
Fillmore said she could hear the bus driver sobbing from down the street when she got home from work several hours after the accident.
She said she gave the man a hug and her daughter gave him a stuffed animal to try to comfort him.
"He's definitely just beside himself," Fillmore said of the driver, who Las Vegas police identified as Leslie Rice. "He hugged me so hard he cracked my back."
Police said the bus had just dropped off a group of elementary school children on Ann Road at Pebble Rock Drive when it struck the girl while she was crossing the road.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/site-of-fatal-school-bus-accident-attracted-safety-concerns-143076896.html
Because of my job of working with severely disabled, I have gotten to know many bus drivers that drop off students at my school.  While there have been some reckless drivers employed by the school district, they are few and far between, and if I see them being reckless I will report them..  Most of the drivers are safe and caring drivers.  At school, kids walk right in front of the bus and they have to hope the bus stops in time. The kids are so dense to what is going on around them that they don't even know or care that a bus is 3 feet in front of them
Further, I have seen what some of these drivers go through. Cars who cut them off in traffic, students who step right in front of the school bus and rowdy kids on the school bus.  It seems to me,this driver was very heart broken about the death of a student that occurred when somehow she fell or walked into the path of his bus.
I also cannot even come close to speak about what the parents are of the dead girl are going through. They probably kissed  the girl good bye in the morning and in the afternoon, their daughter is dead and they have to plan for a funeral.  What a heartbreak that has to be.
I don't know what happened, but it is a tragedy all the way around, especially for the family of the student who died and I hope they are in our prayers. The sadness they are going through has to be so terrible right now, that it cannot be measured. But the bus driver also should be remembered as well, it is clear that this was a terrible accident and he will never forget what happened on Friday afternoon.
Let's just hope this is the last of school bus accidents in Las Vegas In a very long time.
