Too True, Too Funny

From Grandpa John:  http://grandpajohn.blogspot.com/

ObamaCare Disaster: More Uninsured Than before ObamaCare

From the Denver Post: About 5 million people will be without health care next year that they would have gotten simply if they lived somewhere else in America.
They make up a coverage gap in President Barack Obama's signature health care law created by the domino effects of last year's Supreme Court ruling and states' subsequent policy decisions.
The court effectively left it up to states to decide whether to open Medicaid, the federal-state program for the poor and disabled, to more people, primarily poor working adults without children. Colorado opted to expand Medicaid.
Twenty-five states declined. That leaves 4.8 million people in those states without the health care coverage that their peers elsewhere are getting through the expansion of Medicaid, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation estimate. More than one-fifth of them live in Texas alone, Kaiser's analysis found.
Among those in the gap is Cheryl Jones, a 61-year-old part-time home-care worker from Erie, Pa., who makes do without health insurance by splitting in half pills for high blood pressure, which she gets from a friend, not a pharmacist. She'd also like to fix her broken partial dentures and get a new pair of glasses.
The Medicaid expansion was supposed to work hand-in-hand with tax credits subsidizing private insurance for people with slightly higher incomes, two keys to the law's broader aim of extending health insurance to 30 million more people. As an enticement for states to expand Medicaid, the federal government promises to pay nearly all of the cost.
Without the expansion, the law is unable to help people who are below the income threshold where tax credits start kicking in, about $11,500 for working adults.

Just another piece of the ObamaCare puzzle that has been a complete and total disaster.

And The Liberal's Nanny State In NYC Begins

From the New York Daily News: New York Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio made it clear Monday that outlawing horse-drawn carriages is at the top of his to-do list.
"We are going to get rid of the horse carriages. Period,” de Blasio said when asked about his plans for the tourist attraction.
There are some moving parts to work out. But we are going to quickly and aggressively move to make horse carriages no longer a part of the landscape ... They are not humane, they are not appropriate for the year 2014. It's over. So, just watch us do it.”
De Blasio said he would work with existing drivers to set them up with alternative vehicles — perhaps antique cars — to ferry tourists around Central Park. He called electric vehicles “a cleaner, safer, wiser, more humane alternative that will be very appealing to tourists.”

Many of the drivers, however, say they have little interest in driving the cars.

This liberal mayor will be a disaster for New York City, just as President Obama has been a disaster for the United States.
But the NYC morons voted for this idiot, so they get what they deserve.

Too Funny

From the Chicago Tribune: Fog and heavy snow mean passengers on a Russian ship stranded in Antarctica for over a week are likely to ring in the New Year trapped in the ice, as a rescue helicopter on a nearby Chinese ship waits for the weather to clear.
The helicopter on board the Snow Dragon will be used after an Australian icebreaker on Monday failed to reach the trapped Akademik Shokalskiy, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) said on Tuesday.
But continuing blizzard conditions mean the rescue attempt will have wait.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/sns-rt-us-antarctica-ship-20131226,0,1105053.story
And while the mainstream won't say it, these fools on this ship, that is stranded by ice and a blizzard are down there studying global warming and why the polar ice caps are melting.
I wonder if they understand the foolishness in their studying.

Sick Tick: Complete Nut Case

Sick Tick Segerblom as an extreme liberal who is considering a run for Nevada governor.
Based on some of his answers to questions, this fool won't even be elected class idiot.
From the Las Vegas Sun:
Living or dead, what person do you admire the most?
"President Jimmy Carter"
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/dec/29/sen-tick-segerblom-big-regret-2013-failing-pass-co/
Seriously, Jimmy Carter is the person he admires most?  Abe Lincoln, George Washington, Bill Clinton (if you want a Democrat) but Jimmy Carter?
What is the best quality you like about a person?
"Honesty"
This is coming from a moron who wants to kick people off of pain medication and who has constantly lied about the issue.
If you could make up the Nevada state motto, what would it be?
"California, here we come"
WTF????
What is your greatest accomplishment in 2013?
"Medical marijuana'
Looks like he has been smoking a little weed and other drugs when doing this interview.
Any regrets this past year?
"Failing to pass corporate income tax"
Typical liberal Democrat wanting more and more taxes.
And this idiot wants to be governor of Nevada?
Highly doubtful.

This Is Success?

From the LVRJ: A December surge propelled health care sign-ups through the government’s rehabilitated website past the 1 million mark, the Obama administration said Sunday, reflecting new vigor for the problem-plagued federal insurance market.
Combined with numbers for state-run markets due in January, that should put total enrollment in the new private insurance plans under President Barack Obama’s health law at about 2 million people through the end of the year, independent experts said.
That would be about two-thirds of the administration’s original goal of signing up 3.3 million by Dec. 31, a significant improvement given the technical problems that crippled the federal market during much of the fall. The overall goal remains to enroll 7 million people by March 31.
“It looks like current enrollment is around 2 million despite all the issues,” said Dan Mendelson, CEO of Avalere Health, a market analysis firm. “It was a very impressive showing for December.”  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/nation-and-world/federal-health-market-reaches-over-1-million-signups
so, a few things:
1.  The Obama administration claims 1,000,000 on the federal web site. Obama and his ilk have lied and lied and lied directly to the American people so why should we believe them about the 1 million number?
2.  How many people actually paid for their insurance?  I'm sure it's a whole lot less than 1,000,000.
3.  We were promised lower health insurance costs yet just about everyone has had their rates raised because of ObamaCare.  Just another lie from Obama and his ilk.
4.  At least 5,000,000 have lost their insurance because ObamaCare, what happened to them and a net loss of 3,000,000 is defined as success?
5.  How many healthy young people have signed up for ObamaCare to offset all the insurance policies of those with pre-existing conditions and that of older people?
ObamaCare has been an epic failure, but the only ones who don't realize this is the Obama administration and some of their supporters, some Democrats who voted for ObamaCare and the news media. Just about everyone else knows ObamaCare has been a huge disaster of epic proportions.

Strangest Packer Touchdown In A Long, Long Time

When I played football in middle school, the coaches told us to play until you hear the whistle.
Apparently, the Chicago Bears forgot this rule.

More ObamaCare Nonsense

From the Denver Post: Office workers in search of snacks will be counting calories along with their change under new labeling regulations for vending machines included in President Barack Obama's health care overhaul law.
Requiring calorie information to be displayed on roughly 5 million vending machines nationwide will help consumers make healthier choices, says the Food and Drug Administration, which is expected to release final rules early next year.
It estimates the cost to the vending machine industry at $25.8 million initially and $24 million per year after that, but says if just .02 percent of obese adults ate 100 fewer calories a week, the savings to the health care system would be at least that great.
The rules will apply to about 10,800 companies that operate 20 or more machines. Nearly three quarters of those companies have three or fewer employees, and their profit margin is extremely low, according to the National Automatic Merchandising Association. An initial investment of $2,400 plus $2,200 in annual costs is a lot of money for a small company that clears only a few thousand dollars a year, said Eric Dell, the group's vice president for government affairs.
http://www.denverpost.com/nationworld/ci_24809139/health-law-put-calorie-info-vending-machines
Just more of Obama being a nanny.
Michelle Obama and her fanatical health craze in schools has destroyed the school lunch program when more food is being thrown away in school cafeterias than being eaten.
Worst president ever.
Top ten worst world leader of all time.

Now The Liberals Will Try To Outlaw Ceramic Squirrels

From the New York Daily News: South Carolina authorities say a 44-year-old woman angry at a man for returning home without beer on Christmas beat and stabbed him with a ceramic squirrel.
The Charleston County Sheriff's office says in a report that deputies found a man covered with blood when they arrived at Helen Williams' North Charleston home early Wednesday. She told investigators the man fell and cut himself, but couldn't explain why her hands and clothes were also bloody.
Deputies say the man said Williams was so angry when he returned without beer because stores were closed on Christmas Eve that she grabbed a ceramic squirrel, beat him in the head, then stabbed him in the shoulder and chest.
Williams was in jail Friday and charged with criminal domestic violence. It wasn't known if she had a lawyer.

Here's a simple  solution if you want beer- get it yourself.
And watch the stupid liberals try to ban ceramic squirrels because after all, if it saves one life or prevent 1 injury, it is well worth it.

Update: Cop Killer Killed

I can't wait to see the picture or description of the thug.
From the Arizona Republic: Phoenix police hailed one of their detectives as a hero on Saturday after they said he sped to the scene of a bank robbery, saw a fellow officer under fire, exited his vehicle and shot the suspect dead.
The robbery and subsequent shootout occurred at about 10 a.m. at the Compass Bank near 34th Avenue and Thomas Road, police said.
A witness waiting in line at a drive-through fast-food restaurant across the street called police at 10 a.m. and said he spotted a masked man going into the Compass Bank, police said.
Officer James Holmes said the masked man pointed a weapon at the manager and ordered him to open the teller drawers while demanding everyone else get on the ground.
“At some point, he actually had the manger and one of the tellers open the vault,” Holmes said.
The man left with an undisclosed amount of money.
An officer in the area responded and saw the suspect leaving the bank with a bag and a gun, Holmes said.
The officer broadcast to the suspect over his radio and ordered the man to stop.
“He (the suspect) was heading toward a white car,” Holmes said. “The suspect at that time ... threw the bag into his car, he raised his weapon and he began firing at the officer.”
By coincidence, a Phoenix robbery detective in an unmarked vehicle was in the area for an unrelated investigation when he also responded to the 911 call.
As the detective entered the area and approached the suspect from the side, the detective saw him firing at the officer, Holmes said.
“The officer is trying to retreat and take cover at that point,” Holmes said.
The detective drew his gun and shot the suspect in the upper body, Holmes said.
The man then fell the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

http://www.azcentral.com/community/phoenix/articles/20131228phoenix-bank-robbery-officer-involved-shooting-brk.html?nclick_check=1
First the thug wasn't a very good bank robber as he tried to rob 3 banks and failed each time.
And it was a good job by the Phoenix Police Dept. for ridding the DNA gene pool of this thug.
Finally, the FBI refused to say what the race of the thug was, even though the local Tupelo, MS. newspaper stated the thug was black.  It will be interesting to see what race the thug was and if the FBI hindered the investigation by refusing to state what the race of the thug was for politically correct reasons.

Sometimes It Pays To Have A Hard Head

Too funny.
From the San Fran Chronicle: A teenage boy who was shot dead in San Francisco this month was slain not by an enemy but by an accomplice in a street robbery, after a bullet fired at the victim ricocheted off his face, police said Friday...
The incident happened Dec. 14 near the Alemany public housing complex in Bernal Heights. Police said a group of suspects accosted a man at about 11 p.m., and that as they dug through the victim's possessions and took his phone, one of them pulled out a handgun.
The victim did not resist and complied with all demands, police said, but the gunman still opened fire. The bullet, though, glanced off the victim's face and struck Chatman, who was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
http://www.sfgate.com/crime/article/SFPD-Teen-was-shot-dead-by-fellow-robber-5097201.php
It had to be divine intervention that the victim was shot in the face but it was Karma when the bullet bounced off him and killed the young thug.
Sometimes it pays to have a hard head.

Misleading Headline Of The Day

From The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Millions set to gain coverage as Obamacare deadlines loom

http://www.jsonline.com/business/millions-set-to-gain-coverage-as-obamacare-deadlines-loom-b99172311z1-237826961.html
Except millions have not signed up for ObamaCare, unlike what the headline implies.
In fact maybe only around 100,000 people have actually signed up and paid for health insurance through ObamaCare, and that maybe a generous number.  Certainly not the millions as described in the headline on jsonline.
The story goes on gives a one sided version about how wonderful ObamaCare is.
Media bias still is alive.

Gruesome UFC Injury

web1_MMA-UFC168GAMER_122813jb_06_3.jpg
Picture from LVRJ

From the LVRJ: UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman entered the cage Saturday night hoping to prove his victory over longtime champ Anderson Silva in July was no fluke.
Instead, he had to settle for retaining his title by way of perhaps the most bizarre ending to a title fight in UFC history in the main event of UFC 168 on Saturday night at MGM Grand.
Weidman was awarded a TKO victory early in the second round after Silva broke his left leg while attempting a low kick that Weidman checked with his shin.
Silva immediately dropped to the ground and referee Herb Dean called a stop to the fight as the 38-year-old Brazilian writhed around on the mat screaming in pain.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/mma-ufc/bad-break-mars-weidman-s-win
This was a gruesome, but no more gruesome than some bad injuries in the NFL, Hockey, NASCAR or even baseball.
Silva's career is over but let's hope he doesn't suffer any permanent disability.

All Sporting Events In National Parks To Be Cancelled?

Last week, the Fed's announced that the 135 mile Ultra Marathon was cancelled due to safety concerns: http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2013/12/obama-nanny-state-at-it-again.html
Now, it comes out that the nanny Fed's have cancelled all sporting events in Death Valley.
From the Pahrump Valley Times:  As it stands now the most grueling race in the world will be taking a vacation from the hottest place on Earth.
AdventureCORPS announced this week that Death Valley National Park will be undergoing a safety review for most of 2014. The safety review will eliminate all cycling, running and other events inside Death Valley National Park.
At this point, it’s not clear what prompted the safety review by the National Park Service.
According to AdventureCORPS, the organization which runs several running and cycling events in the park during the year, which includes the famous Badwater running race, said Death Valley only sent them this communication:
“Effective immediately Death Valley National Park will temporarily discontinue issuance of running and bicycling event permits. Future event permits will not be considered until a thorough safety evaluation of this type of activity has been completed.”
The company said they only received this notice and no direct notification. The organization announced the following in their press release of Dec. 23 :
“There will be no sporting events of any kind held within Death Valley National Park in 2014. That includes the five events we (AdventureCORPS) host there (CORPScamp Death Valley; Death Valley Century, Ultra Century, and Double Century - spring and fall editions; Furnace Creek 508; and Badwater 135 Ultramarathon), as well as other cycling and running events such as the Ride to Cure Diabetes and Titus Canyon Marathon.”
AdventureCORPs, who is headed by Chris Kostman, said he has hosted 89 events without ever being refused a permit. Kostman questioned the need for a safety review, at least for its events. They went on to add, “There have been no deaths, no car crashes, no citations issued, and only a few evacuations by ambulance after literally millions of miles covered on foot or by bike by event participants.”
They disagree with the safety review and said it is not being “undertaken as a result of any significant number of complaints.” ...
AdventureCORPS is worried about other events at other national parks and said this in their press release, “During a recent meeting with DVNP staff, they stated ‘other Parks are watching us’ and ‘we might be setting a national precedent.’ Even a one-year ban on events is not a precedent that anybody who enjoys cycling or running events within national parks would support. There are successful and popular cycling and running events held within national parks across America; they could all be in jeopardy now.”
Regional General Manager for Xantera Parks and Resorts in Death Valley Richard Jones said his company is a major provider of lodging for the cycling and running events in Death Valley.
“There is really not a lot to comment on,” he said. “It’s a loss of income to our property. More importantly it’s a piece of the fabric of Death Valley. It appears these events have been stalled and it does not look like they will be here next year and it affects a lot of people up the line and into Lone Pine and some of the other gateway communities and it affects little people. It is really regrettable.”
When asked about the economic impact of losing these events, he said, “It is kind of impossible to say because of the trickle effect. On an overall basis it’s kind of hard to say because of the people they come with, the crew, and where they stop along the way. There are also the airlines and the travel, everything it takes to get to Death Valley. It is bigger than just our piece of the pie.”.
“Nearly half of that money is spent in the region. The Inyo County Supervisors and Lone Pine Chamber of Commerce are extremely concerned about the economic impact of even a one-year ban on sporting events. Hotels, restaurants, gas stations, gift shops, and other businesses will be directly impacted. A wider view of the ban would indicate a negative impact on car rentals, airlines, and service providers to the events such as Liberty Ambulance in Ridgecrest, Subway in Pahrump, radio and satellite phone rental providers, t-shirt screeners, bicycle jersey manufacturers, buckle and medal manufacturers, and more. The ripple effect will be enormous and reverberate across the country.
http://pvtimes.com/sports/there-will-be-no-sporting-events-death-valley-2014.html
So, it is quite possible that all sporting events in the future maybe canceled by the Obama administration.
So, who is behind this?  Obviously, the environmentalists come to mind.  The greenies would love nothing more than to outlaw all sporting events in national parks.  The eco terrorists believe that sporting events/humans can only destroy the parks and that the parks should be off limits to everyone but them, so they can study nature and run naked with the butterflies.
The excuse that the Park employees will be exposed to harsh conditions is a lie as these workers choose to be at Death Valley and that there is this little invention called air conditioning and it is available in buildings and cars and trucks.  And if this an excuse, why don't they shut down Death Valley to everyone then, including the employees?
Of course, like sheep, the Nevada and California elected officials are silent on the issues and the PVT didn't bother to ask them.
The National Park service says they will have the survey done by the Summer of 2014, so why are they denying permits for the whole year then?
The NPS also gives these reasons for not allowing spotting events at Death valley:
Create an unacceptable impact on park resources or values, or
Are contrary to the purposes for which the park was established, or
Unreasonably disrupt the atmosphere of peace and tranquility of wilderness, natural, historic, or commemorative locations within the park...  http://www.nps.gov/deva/parkmgmt/upload/Public-Response-for-Sporting-Events-Dec-2013.pdf
Hell, that can be said about any National Park in the U.S., so it is understandable why people are afraid that is the beginning of the end of sporting and other events in National Parks.
So, beware, it seems that the Obama administration is hell bent on eliminating sporting and other events that take place on public lands.  Just like Obama is trying to destroy health care with ObamaCare, he is also trying to take away the National Parks from the people.

What's Missing?

From the FBI and it's report on the shooting of a police officer in Tupelo, Mississippi:  Law enforcement authorities are seeking public assistance with locating an unidentified male suspect who is wanted in connection with the shootings of two Tupelo (Mississippi) Police Department officers on December 23, 2013. The shootings resulted in the death of one officer and the critical wounding of the other officer.
The suspect is also wanted for the December 23 attempted robbery of a bank in Atlanta, Georgia, and the robbery of a Tupelo bank.
The suspect is described as approximately 5'8" to 6'0" tall with a slender build. The suspect was wearing a facemask, a shirt or jacket with an "Aztec" pattern, khaki pants, and tennis shoes similar to the Converse brand.
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individual responsible for these violent crimes.  http://www.fbi.gov/news/news_blog
And from the local newspaper:
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation, which is now focused on a male suspect said to be about 5-feet-9 to 6-feet tall, thin, with light complexion, possibly African-American. He also might be heavily armed.
The suspect might be in a charcoal color, medium-sized four-door sedan, possibly a Chrysler 200 or a Honda of some type. He also may be on foot, said FBI Special Agent in Charge Daniel McMullen during a Monday night press conference.  http://djournal.com/news/two-officers-shot-robbery-one-dies/
First, with the FBI's story, it doesn't give information abut the suspect's car.
And, probably more importantly, it doesn't say anything about the suspect's race and that it was a possible African American doing the shooting.
Why would the FBI leave this out, unless they are trying to be politically correct?

See Ya Jamie

From the Houston Chronicle:  A San Antonio pastor has a message to atheists and people who don't celebrate Christmas: “Leave the country” or “Take your Walkman and stuff it into your ears.”
Pastor John Hagee told members of his flock Sunday at Cornerstone Church that “Christmas is under attack in America” because workers who run government offices now greet people with “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas.”
He said that any non-Christians and atheists who didn't believe in Jesus Christ should just leave the country, as the United States was built upon a Christian foundation.
“Planes are leaving every hour on the hour. Get on one,” Hagee said. “It's time for the majority to rule this nation.”
Cornerstone Church in San Antonio is a nondenominational church that counts more than 20,000 active members.  http://www.chron.com/news/local/article/Pastor-John-Hagee-to-atheists-Get-out-of-U-S-5096331.php?cmpid=hpts
Now, I am not an atheist and I don't agree with their views.  But they are a type of religion and it's not like none of the signers of the U.S. Constitution were atheists.
And not all Christians agree with Hagee and I would start with the Pope.
And if all atheists were run out of the Country, this blog would not have a good friend, Jamie of  http://greenleegazette.blogspot.com/.  In fact, I think Jamie would make Hagee's head explode, which may not be a bad idea.

Strange

From the Las Vegas Sun:
One of Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn's Goodman's sons is recovering after he was assaulted and left unconscious inside a restroom at South Tower Park in early December, KLAS Channel 8 reported.
Goodman and her husband, former Mayor Oscar Goodman, released a statement via city officials late Friday saying their son is doing well at a rehabilitation center. The family asked for privacy.  http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/dec/27/mayor-goodmans-son-recovering-after-assault/
I have been to this park several times when I lived up in this area.  It is a park that is in the middle of houses worth several hundred's of thousands of dollars and it is a kids park.  It's not close to any bad housing or Section 8 housing.  It's not even close to any apartments.
So, for this kind of crime to happen at this neighborhood park really does raise questions, like what time of day did it happen, who found him, what was he doing in a kids park etc.

Oh Please, Stop The Lie

How can you tell when President Obama is lying?  When his lips move or as soon as he wakes up.
From Fox News: President Obama has offered his support to two senators proposing to extend expiring federal unemployment benefits.
Republican Sen. Dean Heller of Nevada and Democratic Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island have proposed extending for three months benefits that more than 1 million Americans will lose Saturday if they are not extended. Obama called the two senators separately on Friday, describing it as an urgent economic priority.
Obama says the abrupt cut-off in cash assistance during the holidays will hurt economic growth and jobs.
Please, unemployment benefits have nothing to do with the economy.  It's effect on the economy is very minimal, at best.
It's a benefit for people who have unemployed for a significant period of time.
It's an issue of whether people who have been unemployed for a 26 weeks and waiting to look for work at the last minute.
It's an issue of compassion or it's an issue of people not wanting to work, or an issue of people looking for the perfect job and not finding it.
The jobs are out there if people who want to work.  They be low level jobs but they are jobs.
But to say this an issue of economics is a big fat lie by Obama.

Duck Off!!

Yea, I'm pretty sure that headline was used a few hundred times today, but it is god news for conservatives that A&E backed down and put Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty back on the air with  no punishment.
From Fox News: The A&E Network announced Friday it would resume filming “Duck Dynasty” with Phil Robertson and the rest of his family next spring in a reversal of its decision last week to suspend him for comments he made about homosexuality.
In an exclusive statement to FoxNews.com, the family said it was "excited to keep making a quality TV show for our dedicated fans, who have showed us wonderful support. We will continue to represent our faith and values in the most positive way through 'Duck Dynasty' and our many projects that we are currently working on.
"The outpouring of support and prayer has encouraged and emboldened us greatly."
Robertson had been indefinitely suspended by the network on Dec. 18 for remarks he made in an interview with GQ Magazine.
The removal of the 67-year-old family patriarch triggered support from gay rights organizations but objections from many fans of the show, including political figures such as former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.
The fifth season of the family series originally had been scheduled to start Jan. 15 but until Friday’s announcement, its future had been uncertain, since the family had said it could not imagine going forward without Robertson.
In a statement released late Friday afternoon, A&E said, “While Phil's comments made in the (GQ) interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the ‘coarse language’ he used and the misinterpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would ‘never incite or encourage hate.’"
The network added that “Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man's views. It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family, a family that America has come to love. As you might have seen in many episodes, they come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness. These are three values that we at A&E Networks also feel strongly about.
“So after discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family.”  http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2013/12/27/duck-dynasty-to-resume-filming-with-phil-robertson-ae-announces/
In a nutshell, A&E thought they were doing the politically correct thing by suspending Roberston but it totally backfire when the conservative audience fought back and won.
A&E was put in a situation where either they would lose tens of millions of dollars or take a stand, and money won out.
So, to those who say that the Tea Party is dead, well, this issue showed that the conservative movement is alive and well.

Party Poopers

From the Minneapolis Tribune: The Minnesota Vikings want a peaceful, orderly send-off Sunday for the Metrodome, the stadium the team fought so hard to leave.
“We want to send it off in the right way,” Vikings spokesman Jeff Anderson said Thursday. “It’s a historic building, not just for Vikings fans, but for Minnesotans.”
To ensure that calm is kept, the hometown NFL team is bringing in extra security for Sunday’s noon finale against the Detroit Lions. The Vikings also hope to slake fans’ thirst for historical tokens by handing out commemorative items....
Security will tighten around the field as the game draws toward its end. Guards will closely monitor fans as they leave the building through the revolving doors.
“Basically, nothing is coming out of that building,” said Hathaway....
For the fans who want a hunk of history, the Vikings will provide each with a commemorative pennant honoring the first and final games at the Metrodome.
And those who absolutely must have a piece of the Dome will get a chance. The authority is in discussions with vendors to sell seats and could complete the arrangement by Friday or at the latest, by next week.  http://www.startribune.com/local/minneapolis/237425211.htmlSo, the taxpayers paid for the Metrodome (or Twinkie Dome) and they don't want people to take things from the stadium, even though the fans paid for it through taxes and their tickets.
The fans should be allowed to take seats from the stadium, especially season ticket holders- they bought them through their tickets and taxes.
But the Minnesota government wants to rape the taxpayers/ticket holders one more time by graciously allowing the seats and other equipment to be sold at a later date.
What a farce.

No Thanks To Obama

From the Houston Chronicle: The United States’ average daily oil production is on track to surge by 1 million barrels per day this year, the biggest one-year jump in the nation’s history, according to federal data.
The country has pumped an average of 7.5 million barrels of crude per day in 2013, up from 6.5 million barrels per day in 2012. That breaks last year’s record, when oil production jumped by 837,000 barrels per day between 2011 and 2012.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration projects that oil production will jump by another 1 million barrels per day in 2014, largely buoyed by drilling activity in Texas’ Eagle Ford Shale and Permian Basin regions, as well as North Dakota’s Bakken Shale.
The Gulf of Mexico also is seeing a boost, with oil production expected to grow to 1.4 million barrels per day in 2014, up by 100,000 barrels.
The data is evidence of the astonishingly rapid turnaround in the nation’s energy story. Oil production declined in 29 of the 40 years between 1971 and 2011. In total, oil production fell by about 40 percent during that time, from 9.5 million barrels per day in 1971 to 5.6 million barrels per day in 2011.
While the U.S. oil boom has sparked conversation of energy independence, Americans consume about 18 million barrels of liquid fuels per day, far more than is produced domestically.
Still, the production surge has caused oil imports to drop considerably. The nation shipped in an average of 7.9 million barrels per day of crude in September, the most recent period for which import data is available. That’s a significant drop from the peak in 2005, when the nation imported an average of 10.1 million barrels per day.  http://fuelfix.com/blog/2013/12/26/2013-oil-boom-is-biggest-ever-data-shows/?cmpid=hpts
Most of the oil drilling has been on private lands and done by private drillers.
Very little drilling has been done on Federal land, thanks to President Obama.
Thank you to the private sector for helping us depend less on oil imports, especially that of the Mideast and Venezuela.  We could do better but Obama would rather have us import oil from his buddies.

Oh, Just Get Over It

Too many whiners out there.
From the New York Daily News: UPS workers are scrambling to deliver Santa’s delayed packages on Thursday as customers took to social media to express their frustration.
Extra workers were brought in Christmas night to the company’s hub in Louisville, Ky., to sort through an embarrassing backlog in deliveries. Delayed packages were expected to reach recipients by Thursday or Friday.
"We're terribly sorry," spokeswoman Natalie Black told CNN.
FedEx and the United States Postal Service experienced a higher than normal volume this Christmas, but the organizations claimed service disruptions were minimal.
UPS blamed their delays on bad weather in the Midwest and in Dallas. Black also said that a spike in online purchases this year exceeded the capacity of the UPS transportation network. Plus, the holiday shopping season was shorter than usual this year, which means procrastinators had less time to order gifts....
The apology came too late for Robbie Escalon, a grandmother from Amarillo, Texas. Escalon says she ordered her newly adopted 3-year-old grandson’s Christmas presents on Dec. 11. She was hoping to give him his “first real Christmas” but her expected delivery date was changed to Dec. 27.
“If I ever have a choice for delivery, it will not be UPS,” Escalon said on UPS’s Facebook page. “This time of the year is already stressful and this just made things much worse.”
FedEx also experienced delays, although a company representative claimed service disruptions were “minimal.”

For those who didn't get their deliveries before Christmas, get over it, it's not the end of the world.
And if you want to get your presents on time, go to a box store or plan on buying the items earlier- don't but them just a few days before Christmas.
And stop your damn whining, you look like a bunch of losers.

Umm, McDonalds, Burger King, It's Almost 2014

burger king have-it-your-way online ad
(Except at Breakfast Time)

One would think that in the latter stages of 2013 that McDonalds, Burger King and other fast food restaurants would have figured out a way to make hamburgers and chicken nuggets before 10:30 AM.
I am not a breakfast person and I hate eggs, so if I am hungry in the morning, I want a good old cholesterol laden hamburger instead of a sandwich that has eggs on it or a bowl of oatmeal.
But McDonalds and Burger King don't see it that way.  They tell you when to have breakfast and those two companies have lost a lot of my business when I want to eat out in the morning.
However, not all fast food places do this: Jack in the Box serves both lunch and breakfast at the same time, so the technology is here.
So, why does Burger King and McDonalds have to tells us when to have breakfast and tell us when we can begin ordering lunch?
Burger King used to have a slogan, have it your way.
I guess not.

Pawn Stars Review: December 26, 2013

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas and that Santa Claus was good to everyone.
I'm sure everyone has heard what is going on with the Duck Dynasty fiasco.  I'm sure that the guys in the show have been told to keep their moths fairly quiet about controversial subjects and the closest anybody on Pawn Stars came to be controversial was when Rick Harrison went on the Mark Levin show, a conservative show and Rick ripped ObamaCare and other problems he had with the Federal government: http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2013/03/pawn-stars-rick-harrison-on-mark-levin.html
Tonight, there are two new episodes, the first segment was the guys talking about the best deal the Old Man got.  they joked about how old he is and he traded a couple of rocks for a dinosaur bone.

Chumlee went to a house, uninvited and wanted to check a Bowden Spacelander bike.  http://nbhaa.com/indexbowden.html  (be prepared to look at a bunch of legal stuff before you get to the article)
The guy got it for Christmas in 1960.  The guy wanted $20,000.  Chumlee offered $7,000.  The guy went to $12,000 and Chumlee went to $8700 and that was the deal.  Rick had no idea Chumlee bought it.  Rick backed up Chumlee on the deal.  Chumlee got a $1000 bonus but the Old Man was none too happy.  Chumlee said he might want to buy some gold teeth instead of investing it.  Instead he bought 4 bobbleheads including one large of him self.  Chumlee made a bet with the Old Man that he would sell one.  Chumlee sold one for $10 so, Chumlee won the bet and the Old Man lost the bet and won $1000.

The next guy brought in a CragStan Crapshooter game.  The video above shows how it is supposed to work.  It was from the 1950-60's.  The game was broken.  The game was in perfect shape but did not work so Rick offered $25 and then $50 and that was the selling price.

The next lady brought in a antique lap desk that was owned by Dr. Samuel Mudd, who helped John Wilkes Booth after he shot President Abraham Lincoln.  http://law2.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/lincolnconspiracy/mudd.html
Mudd went to prison and made the lap desk for Army officer's wife.  The lady had some paper work to go with it.  She wanted $100,000 and time for an expert, Mark.   He thought the lap desk was made Samuel Mudd, so Rick offered $2500 so there was no deal.
In the 2nd episode, Chumlee revealed that he had a nutritionist and the guys got into a bet to see who walked the most.  The loser had to drive the "company truck", which was like an advertisement on wheels.
Corey cheated by having his pet dog connected to the waking monitor, though the dog just sat mostly sat around.

The first guy brought in a wanted poster of John Dillinger.   http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/history/famous-cases/john-Dillinger
The poster was 1934, so it was almost 80 years.  Rick thought the poster was real.  The guy wanted $450 and Corey countered with $300 and that was the deal.  If the seller shaved his head just a little more, he would look like Rick.  Corey also put his monitor on a paint shaker at a hardware store.  He went to Meads Hardware (http://www.meadshardware.com/) which is a very long way from the shop.
The winner of the competition was Corey but he cheated.  The Old Man was last.  Because Corey cheated, he had to drive the truck.
Lambretta_150cc_LAM55_advertisement.jpg
The next guy brought in a 1967 Lambretta Scooter.  It was a 125 cc.  It's an Italian scooter.  http://www.lambrettausa.com/default.aspx
The scooter had 62,000 kilometers on it.  The guy wanted $6000.  Chumlee convinced Rick to take it for a spin and took it out for a long time- 45 minutes.  When he took it out the machine was really smoking.  He also took it to get lunch. Rick offered $3500.  The guy came down to $4000 and Rick went to $3600 and that was the sale price,
The next guy came in with dinosaur poop that was in a petrified rock.  The guy found it  in Wyoming.  Supposedly it is a pretty stone when cut and polished and the fossils weighed about 40 ponds.  The guy wanted $40 pound or about $3200.  Time for an expert, a gemologist from the store, Jeff.  He said it was fossilized poop and worth about $10-15  pound.  Rick offered $1000 for the rocks and then $1100 and that was the sale price.
At the end, Corey ended up driving the store's truck and Corey's dog, Skeeba, went for a fun ride.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a happy and safe New Years Eve and Day.
See you next week with hopefully 2 new more episodes.

ObamaCare Disaster: Only 10-15% Have Paid

From Breitbart: The left-leaning journalism organization ProPublica says the only Obamacare deadline that matters is the one few are talking about: the recently extended January 10 deadline by which so-called Obamacare “enrollees” must make their first premium payment to officially activate their insurance plan.
No payment, no health coverage, notes ProPublica writer Charles Ornstein.
“There’s a huge caveat that isn’t getting much public attention,” says Ornstein. “For coverage to take effect on Jan. 1, enrollees must pay their first month’s premium on time.” Ornstein says this overlooked fact raises “the prospect that actual enrollment will be far lower than the figures HHS [Health and Human Services] is releasing.”
Industry consultant Robert Laszewski told Ornstein that one of the insurers he works with said just 15% of people have paid and activated their plan so far. Another consultant, Kip Piper, put the figure even lower.
“So far I’m hearing from health plans that around 5% and 10% of consumers who have made it through the data transfer gauntlet have paid first month’s premium and therefore truly enrolled,” said Piper, who previously served at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. “I’m hearing it’s a small portion so far. And that, of course, is a fraction of an already comparatively small number of people who have made it through setting up an account.”  http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/12/23/Progressive-Group-Warns-Of-Huge-Caveat-To-Obamacare-Enrollment-Numbers
So, between 5-15% of the enrollees have actually paid for their insurance.  I guess, in raw numbers, that's only 10 people.
No, if a million people have signed up, only 5000 to about 15,000 have paid their first premiums.
And using the number o $500,000,000 that it cost to create the web site and staff it, that comes up to about $33,333 per enrollee.
And sadly, because of ObamaCare, millions upon millions have lost their health insurance, millions more have had their premiums increased, lost their doctor and/or hospital and face higher out of pocket expenses.
While it may not be a natural disaster, it is one of the biggest disaster/fraud in American history.
It's time to raise the question of impeaching Obama.  His lying and failure as a president is worse than what any other president has done and certainly worse than what Bill Clinton when he lied about his sexual escapades and cigars and Andrew Johnson who was impeached because he tried to fire the Secretary of War.  Richard Nixon was never impeached but should have been and Obama is far worse that Obama ever was in abusing his power.
So, now, Obama has completely screwed up health care and the insurance companies will probably need a bailout or they go broke.
As a condition of any bailout, the Republicans need to demand that Obama and Vice President Biden need to resign before any bailout is paid.
What a disaster Obama has been for this country.

Felony Thief Dina Titus: Don't Do As I Do And Don't Do What I Say

Since I was bored at 2:00 in the morning, I went to the official web site of Felony Thief, Dina Titus and found this:
Congresswoman Titus of Nevada’s First District today spoke on the House floor in defense of the nearly 40,000 unemployed Nevadans at risk of losing their unemployment benefits at the end of the year....
“I rise today on behalf of the nearly 40,000 unemployed Nevadans at risk of losing their unemployment benefits if Congress fails to act before the end of the year.
“While our economy has slowly begun to recover from the recession and housing crisis, there are still 1.3 million fewer jobs today than when the recession started six years ago.
“Nearly 4 million jobless Americans have been unemployed for more than 27 weeks. While a newly unemployed worker has a 20 to 30 percent chance of being hired, a long-term unemployed worker has only a 1 in 10 chance of finding a new job in any given month.
“Cutting off a critical lifeline to those already struggling to make ends meet would be irresponsible and reckless, causing significant damage to our economic growth and costing our economy nearly 310,000 jobs, including 3,000 in Nevada.   http://titus.house.gov/news/floor-statements/titus-fights-to-protect-lifeline-for-unemployed-nevadans
And after giving this boring speech, she turns around and votes for the House bill that reduces unemployment benefits.
So, Felony Thief Titus, if you really feel that strongly about the unemployed and them receiving extended unemployment benefits, then why did you vote "Yea" to strip these unemployed of their extended benefits?
What a buffoon and moron.

Cool

The Christmas Spirit lives on.
From the Chicago Sun Times: Someone left a 1-ounce gold bar worth an estimated $1,200 in a Salvation Army kettle outside a store in Michigan City, Ind.
Corinne Charleston, a Salvation Army ringer, says she was thrilled when she found a $50 bill in her kettle over the weekend.
And then Charleston got an even bigger thrill when she saw the gold bar wrapped inside a $1 bill.
It happened in South Dakota, too, where two gold bars valued at more than $1,200 each were dropped in kettles in Sioux Falls, one o them in a note that said “Bell Ringers are Special People.”  http://www.suntimes.com/news/24589798-418/gold-bar-left-in-salvation-army-kettle-in-michigan-city-ind.html
As someone who has benefitted from the Salvation and who has worked for them at a homeless shelter, I can honestly say that that money will not be wasted on frivolous expenses.

Send Her Back

From the Minneapolis Star Tribune: In a federal lawsuit filed on Christmas Day, an Ethiopian refugee who has lived in the Twin Cities nearly 10 years is suing her father, contending that he refuses to take a blood test that she needs in order to become a U.S. citizen.
Sara Jelde, who came to the United States in 2004 at age 17 with her five siblings and father, is also suing Immigration Services for requiring the test....
Jelde’s mother did not come to the United States, and the family settled in Eagan. Sara Jelde eventually moved in with her eldest sister, who helped Jelde get legal resident status.
The five children later moved apart, her father remarried and they had not communicated for several years, the suit says.
Jelde, now 26 and living in St. Paul, finds herself in a legal quagmire brought on by her decision last May to apply for citizenship.
The suit says Jelde’s father has refused to provide a blood test demanded by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services that will prove his paternity....
The blood test was ordered after an immigration official stated that Jelde did not correctly answer a question asking her to provide her father’s last name, the suit stated. “Jelde was not represented by counsel at the interview or at the time,” the suit says.
If the immigration agency needs a blood test, it could get one from her older sister, who petitioned for Jelde to enter the United States as a refugee, Nwaneri said. Her father did not file any petition for her or sponsor her in the United States, according to the suit....
He said he hopes Jelde will be granted citizenship. “She is working,” he said. “She has no criminal record. She’s been a good citizen.”  http://www.startribune.com/local/237258971.html
Actually, she is not a good citizen because she is not a citizen of the U.S. and she is a lawbreaker by being here illegally.
This case should be fairly easy to decide, she has family back in Ethiopia- her mom, she is here illegally and she was not a young child when she came to the United States.
She needs to go back to Ethiopia and start the citizen process there.
And then the Fed's ought to go after her employer for allowing an illegal alien to work for them.

My Stupid Dog: He Wants To Commit Suicide?

I have a Border Collie/ Akita mix and looks very similar to the black and white dog in the video:

Well, we went out to eat this evening at the Fiesta buffet (good prices, so-so food) and we lock up our dog Brody in my kid's bedroom because he has a habit of stealing food off the counters or garbage.
A little history of Brody- he was found in an abandoned house in the middle of the summer, up in Overton, NV- about 50 miles north of Las Vegas.  Some people found him and took him home but they were unable to keep him because of a small house and too many dogs.
So, we got him about 3 years ago and he is a very friendly dog but his bark is loud and rough, which makes anybody trying to break into our house think twice.
But he has a habit of eating out of garbage cans an eating off of counters.  When it comes to food, he has no self control... kind of like me when I was younger.
So, this evening, we put him in our son's room and closed the door and put the radio on.

When we got back, we found out that he ripped open my son's Nestlé's Crunch small sized candy bars and it turns out he ate both the chocolate and the wrappers of 8 candy bars.
We thought my son had the candy bars out of reach of the dog, but obviously not.
When we got home, the bag was ripped open, 8 mini candy bars were gone and Brody the dog, was on a sugar high.
So, will the dog live over night?  The next day or week?
Right now, he is still hungry, is happy and is not in any pain.
He's done this before and survived, so let's hope he makes it again.  If he were a cat, he would have used up at least 8 of 9 lives.
I'll keep you updated.

Remember About The Whiners Complaining About Working on Thanksgiving?.

So many whiners were out complaining about working on Thanksgiving and most whiners were focused on Wal-Mart and Best Buy being open on Turkey Day.
Well, there were several businesses open and no one was fussing about it.
McDonalds was open and the liberal's favorite coffee shop, Starbucks was open as well.
Why were there no protests about Starbucks or any other store being open?
Maybe because that greedy company, Starbucks, is a liberal hangout and you know liberals, they can't complain about other liberals.  It's not in their DNA or drug altered minds to criticize other liberals.  Just look at President Obama- liberals just cannot bring themselves to criticize him, no matter how foolish they look defending him.
Since the liberals refuse to say it, then I will: I think it is wrong for most people working on Christmas Day.  The exceptions are health care workers, public safety workers, convenience store workers and hospitality workers, especially those who work at casinos, motels/motels and maybe movie theaters.
Baristas?  Nope.  Fast food workers. Nope.  Wal-Mart workers: nope.
See, liberals, that wasn't so hard to do.

If You Are In Vegas And You Need A Tuxedo, May I Recommend ....

Visit us at
Jerry's Tuxedo, located near Tropicana and Durango.
My son had a concert and he was forced to rent or buy a tuxedo and most tuxedo places were either really expensive or you needed to give them a 2 week advanced notice.
The concert was on a Thursday and we went to Jerry's the evening before.  He was fitted and less than 12 hours later, the tuxedo was ready to go.  Because Jerry's gives out discounts to CCSD band members, the total cost of the 1 day rental was $37.
Their manager, Armando, was a great help and all the staff were friendly.
Here is Jerry's web site: http://www.jerrystuxshop.com/
While I don't give out recommendations very often, Jerry's deserves one for the great service they provide and the reasonable cost.
So, if you have a last second shotgun wedding in Las Vegas, I highly recommend them.

It's Late December And I miss NASCAR Already

ObamaCare Disaster: Charles Krauthammer Nails It

Obama wearing lei and grass skirt
From Real Clear Politics: This is at least the 15th unilateral change in Obamacare that the administration has made without changing the actual law. That's unconstitutional; that's lawless. That's banana republic stuff. As George indicated, the last change was made by a letter from the HHS secretary. That is the what you do it in a banana republic. If you want to know what the law is on a Wednesday, you check the correspondence of El Presidente instead of looking at law. There is no law.
It's as if the whole 2,000 pages of Obamacare -- which nobody has read anyway -- are completely irrelevant. it's simply an authorization for the president and the HHS secretary to do anything required. And today, it wasn't even announced. It wasn't even -- it was leaked. And the people in the administration who leaked it refused to give a name. It was anonymous. I was like Watergate; it was like Woodward and Bernstein.
And the insurers, the people who have to sign up the people who sign up tomorrow, were not even informed, it was a simple change in the software. The insurers are upset because they only have eight days to register anybody who signed up today, and now it is seven days. They have no time. But again, this is the administration's running the insurance companies like errand boys. They are extensions, they are instruments, they are essentially an arm of the government and we're seeing it every day.
In the end, if this fails, this arm of the government, the insurers, are going to have only one recourse and that is going to be a bailout. A huge government bailout with your tax money and with mine.
   http://www.realclearpolitics.com
It really is time to call Obama what he truly is: a small time wanna be dictator who is incompetent and uneducated in the real world.  As a professor, he may be book smart but that doesn't make him educated in the real world and how it operates.
Right now, he is partying it up in Hawaii while the nation's health care system is crumbling- because of him.
He is partying it up in Hawaii while there are more people on government welfare, on disability and out of work than when he became president and he sticks his finger in the eye of those are hurting.
He is partying it up in Hawaii while troops are dying in Afghanistan, the Air Force is using drones in who knows how many countries we have not declared war in.
He is partying it up in Hawaii while this foreign policy has been a complete disaster, where we have political prisoners in Iran and North Korea but he has no problem with Dennis Rodman and 11 NBA former players going to North Korea to party with murderous drunken little thug dictator.

Some people think there is no war on Christmas but when you read about things like this, it does make you think that there is a war on Christmas, at least when it comes to the Obama Administration.
From Todd Starnes and Fox News: Boys and girls at Grace Academy in Prosper, Tex., spent most of last Friday making homemade Christmas cards for bedridden veterans at the VA hospital in Dallas.
Fourth-grader Gracie Brown was especially proud of her card, hoping it would “make their day because their family might live far away, and they might not have somebody to celebrate Christmas with.”
“I’d like them to know they’ve not been forgotten and somebody wanted to say thank you,” Gracie told MyFoxDFW.com.
Gracie’s card read, “Merry Christmas. Thank you for your service.” It also included an American flag.
But the bedridden veterans at the VA hospital will never get to see Gracie’s card. Nor will they see the cards made by 51 other students. That’s because the Christmas cards violated VA policy.
"It really didn't occur to me there would be a problem with distributing Christmas cards," said Susan Chapman, a math teacher at the academy. She's married to a veteran and volunteers with the American Legion and other veterans' organizations.
On Monday morning the boys and girls were planning on hand delivering the cards to the wounded veterans. Chapman called the hospital to make final arrangements and that’s when she learned there was a problem.
"I told him my students made cards, we'd like to bring them down for the veterans," Chapman told the television station. "And he said, 'That's great. We're thrilled to have them, except the only thing is, we can't accept anything that says ‘Merry Christmas' or ‘God bless you' or any scriptural references because of all the red tape.'"
A VA official quoted the policy which is in the Veterans Health Administration handbook:
"In order to be respectful of our veterans' religious beliefs, all donated holiday cards are reviewed by a multi-disciplinary team of staff led by chaplaincy services and determined if they are appropriate (non-religious) to freely distribute to patients. We regret this process was not fully explained to this group and apologize for any misunderstanding."
Hiram Sasser, director of litigation for Liberty Institute, said it was a new low “even for the Scrooges and Grinches at the VA.”
“Targeting the benevolent work of little children for censorship is disgusting,” Sasser told me. “Do the Grinches in the administration of the VA really believe our bravest warriors need protection from the heartfelt well wishes of small children saying Merry Christmas?” http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2013/12/25/va-hospital-refuses-to-accept-merry-christmas-cards/

Jesse Jackson, Looking For Attention, Speaks Like an Uneducated Bigot

From the Chicago Tribune: Jesse Jackson Sr. has jumped into the controversy surrounding comments by Phil Robertson, star of A&E’s backwoods reality TV show, “Duck Dynasty.”
In an announcement sent out Tuesday, Jackson Sr. compared Robertson’s recent comments about African-Americans, gay people and women to comments made by the driver of Rosa Parks’ bus.
"At least the bus driver, who ordered Rosa Parks to surrender her seat to a white person, was following state law,” he said in the release. “Robertson's statements were uttered freely and openly without cover of the law, within a context of what he seemed to believe was ‘white privilege.’”
Jackson’s human rights group, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, has demanded meetings with A&E and with Cracker Barrel regarding the two companies’ treatment of Robertson, who stars in the show as the head of a Louisiana family that makes duck calls.  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-jesse-jackson-duck-dynasty-20131224,0,1323390.story
"White Privilege"?  Seriously?
And this: “It is unacceptable that a personality who has been given such a large platform would benefit from racist and anti-gay comments,” the group leaders state in the release.
Jackson and his ilk speak this out of jealousy because they want that platform and no one wants to listen to them.
And why would anybody want to meet with an uneducated adulterer who fathered a kid out of wedlock and is a slanderer/extortionist/racist and cheater on his wife?
Phil Robertson has more class and ethics in his pinkie finger than Old Boy Jesse has in his entire body and combined with his entire family.

Obama Nanny State At It Again

Uplift on the salt flats
From the LVRJ: It’s the hottest, hardest, most grueling foot race in the world, says Shannon Farar-Griefer, who has run the Badwater 135 ultramarathon through Death Valley five times.
That’s exactly why she keeps coming back, she says, and why every ultrarunner has it on their bucket list.
The race takes the bravest of runners 135 miles through the hottest place on Earth in the middle of the summer.
Next year, for the first time in 27 years, runners won’t be able to tackle the Badwater 135. Death Valley National Park recently put a moratorium on foot and cycling races through the desert hot spot 120 miles west of Las Vegas while they study ways to make the events safer.
“We’re devastated,” said Farar-Griefer, who is the first woman to conquer the race route back to back. That entails running 135 miles from Badwater Basin in Death Valley to near the top of Mount Whitney, then turning around and running back to the starting line.
“It’s like taking Wimbledon away from a tennis player,” she said Monday night as word spread among the running community that the race would have to make a detour through a less challenging environment next year.
The safety study should be done by the spring, and running and cycling events could resume as early as next October, Death Valley spokeswoman Cheryl Chipman said Monday. But sponsors could be faced with enforcing stricter safety rules when events resume.
Chris Kostman, whose AdventureCorps sponsors the Badwater 135 and several other endurance competitions in the sprawling desert park, questioned the need for such a review. He said his organization has held 89 such events there since 1990 without a serious incident.
“There have been no deaths, no car crashes, no citations issued, and only a few evacuations by ambulance after literally millions of miles covered on foot or by bike by event participants,” he said in an email to supporters.
Chipman said park officials aren’t so concerned about runners and cyclers, who they know arrive prepared to survive the area’s heat and rugged terrain.
But as such events have grown in popularity, she said, participants, their support crews and spectators have begun to jam the park’s narrow two-lane roads, creating a dangerous traffic hazard.

To say the problem is the traffic is a croc.
They have events and traffic year round.
So, why not just close down Death Valley all year round because after all, they may save some lives.
It's just another instance where the nannies, who rule by emotion instead of logic and common sense, are running the show instead of professionals.

The Obama Administration Has A Chance To Do Something Right

The question is, will the Obama administration do the right thing.
From Fox News: North Korea’s Kim Jong Un was reportedly “very drunk” when he ordered the recent execution of two aides close to his uncle Jang Song-thaek.
The pair, according to a report in The Independent citing Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun, questioned an order from the North Korean leader to transfer control of a business to the military. Kim was reportedly angered when they said they needed to check with “Director Jang” first before finalizing the switch.
Kim’s once-powerful uncle, who was executed last week, was the former head of the ruling Workers’ Party administrative department. His close aides – first deputy Ri Ryong-ha and deputy Jang Su-gil – were among the first prominent figures to be executed late last month. Kim was “very drunk” when he ordered they be killed, Yomiuri Shimbun reports....
Meanwhile, former basketball star Dennis Rodman left North Korea on Monday after finalizing plans to bring 11 other former NBA players to Pyongyang for a Jan. 8 exhibition game marking Kim Jon Un’s birthday. The two struck up a friendship when Rodman first traveled to the secretive state earlier this year, but Rodman did not answer questions from the media on whether he had met with Kim this time. Rodman is the highest profile American to meet Kim since the leader inherited power from his father in late 2011.  http://www.foxnews.com/world/2013/12/24/north-korea-kim-jong-un-reportedly-very-drunk-when-ordering-executions/?intcmp=latestnews
All this trip is about is the ego of Dennis Rodman and the ego of thug dictator: the tiny drunk Kim Jong Un, who happens to have a girl's name..
The Obama Administration should not allow the former NBA players to go to North Korea and play ball and if the Obama administration refuses their request to go to North Korea I'll be one of the first people to congratulate Obama.
So, let's see if Obama does the right thing.
