Pawn Stars Review January 2, 2012

Welcome to 2012 and I hope everyone had a nice New Years Eve and Day. I've been enjoying the weather here- upper 60's during the day and 30's at night. You gotta love it.
If you go on the Gold and Silver web site, you may see Chumlee may be coming to your town for a meet and greet. http://www.gspawn.com/
In the first episode, the first guy brought in a Strongbox, Handcuffs and a ball and chain. The ball and chains came from Arizona and the handcuffs came from Folsom Prison. The chains turned out to be arc welded and the balls and chain and the handcuffs had the name of the prison on it, which the prisons did not do, so they were fake. the box was real and Rick offered $400 and the guy wanted $1000 and after some bargaining, the box went for $450. Mark came in after the sale and looked the box over and proclaimed the box was a fake. Not a good deal for the shop, good deal for the guy.
The next guy brought in 1924 Dodge Brother business sedan. The car looks like the old Model T cars. The car needed some work to be done. Time for an expert, Danny from Counts Kustom. http://www.countskustoms.com/ They took the car for a drive and it ran well. Danny thought it was worth $8-10,000 without work on the car. The seller wanted $15,500 and the Old Man offered $7000 and then $7500 and that was the sale price.
The next guy brought in a Terminator (from the movie) slot machine. It's more of a Japanese slot machine. The guy wanted $500 and Corey said $300. The then went to $450 and Corey went to $325 and the selling price was $326.
The next guy brought in a pair 24 inch binoculars that were from about the 1940's. They were made by the Japanese and used on the Island of Guam. The guy wanted $5000 and Rick called for an expert. Bob came in and said the binoculars were worth about $3-4,000. The guy wanted $3000 and Rick offered $2000 and then $2,300 and that was the sale price.
In the second episode, the first guy brought in a 1891 Drilling Combination gun. It was a shot gun and rifle combination. The guy wanted $1000 but Rick was concerned about the condition of the rifle. Time ofr an expert, Bob, again. Bob said the gun was made in German. bob said the gun wasn't in great shape and not able to shoot. Bob also said it was from 1891 and was worth $400. The guy then said he wanted $500 and Rick offered $250. No sale because the seller had a sentimental attachment to the gun.
The story line of the day is that they wanted to hire another night shift worker. They said the posted an ad on line. Huh? Is that how employers hire nowadays? Even on their web site, http://www.gspawn.com/, they don't take applications on-line.
Chumlee had the duty to look for a new employee and he failed miserably as no one applied for the job. The ad said there was no address for the shop but most people of Las Vegas knows where the shop is, or they can find out.
The next guy brought in a Police peddle car for kids. It was older as it was made out of metal. The guy wanted
$1000 but Rick said the car is from the year 2000 and not worth much. The car went for $65.
The next guy brought in some antique cast iron kids toy coin banks. The banks have movable parts which shoot the coins into the banks- really cool. Rick was concerned if they were fakes. Time for an expert. Johnny from the Toy Shack came in. http://lasvegastoyshack.com/ and he said they were reproductions because of the quality. Rick offered $100 and there was no sale- the guy wanted to hang on to them.
The next brought in a Vintage Dunhill cigarette lighter which as sold in Switzerland. The lighter had a clock built inside and it worked. The lighter was beat up with a small dent. The guy wanted $2000 and Rick offered $1000 and then $1100 and that was the sale price. The teaser question asked how many lighters are sold in the U.S. The answer said 1 billion, which I find very hard to believe. That's about 3-4 for each man, woman and child and with smoking going down, I find it hard to believe.
That wraps up another week of Pawn Stars. Hope you have a great week and hope to see you back next week.
And if you want to check on an episode, I have reviewed all the episodes, some better than others, so feel free to look around. Thanks.
