Goldfield Jail:Open

Today, the family traveled to Goldfield, NV to visit a town that is supposed to be full of ghosts.   We stopped at the Goldfield Hotel which has been the subject of many TV shows that deal with ghosts.  Peering inside, you could see old time pianos, furniture, the main lobby and a few other things.  The building's owner bought the hotel for $350,000 and wants to sell it for $2,000,000.  He will never get that price because it is going to take millions to refurbish the hotel.
Another ghost hot spot is the old high school.  A lady at one of the stores we visited said there was a dinner/ghost hunting night a couple of weeks ago and she claims the ghosts came out in force that night.
The town seems to be having a small revival as several small businesses are opening up on main street.
Don't buy gas there, as gas prices at the one Goldfield gas station was $4.45.  In Beatty, 60 miles to the south, the gas prices were $3.89, cheaper than many Las Vegas gas stations.
Speaking of Beatty, it seems like this small city is the Mayberry of Southern Nevada.  It is quiet, good looking and has donkeys roaming around the town.  Of course, just outside Beatty, there are at least 3 brothels.
So, if you live or are visiting Las Vegas, take a trip out to Goldfield and see how Nevada looked during the silver/gold rush.
