Mike Smith, the very liberal cartoonist from the Las Vegas Sun, a very liberal newspaper, just doesn't get it.
Conservatives and probably most people don't want an empathetic judge on a case. They want someone who is fair and impartial. If you are empathetic to one side or another, you cannot be impartial.
Now, there jobs where you can be empathetic- social worker, teacher, firefighter, cop(to a certain degree), but not a Supreme Court justice. If she wants to show empathy, show it in her private life, not on the bench.
