From the LVRJ: Defense lawyers for Harvey Whittemore filed court papers Friday seeking to suppress evidence in the high-profile federal case charging the one-time power broker in a scheme to unlawfully funnel $138,000 in campaign contributions to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

The lawyers argued the evidence - including a note from the Nevada Democrat thanking Whittemore - was unlawfully obtained without a warrant....
Whittemore, 59, who once wielded influence within the state's political hierarchy, faces four felony charges, including making excessive campaign contributions, making contributions in the name of another and making a false statement to a federal agency. His trial is set for Feb. 26 before U.S. District Judge Larry Hicks in Reno....
The boxes contained documents identifying the surrogate contributors Whittemore is alleged to have used in the scheme and his reimbursements to the contributors, a book about campaign finance law, a note to Reid and a note from Reid.
An FBI agent told the grand jury Reid authenticated his note to Whittemore that read, "Harvey, you're a man of your word" and "You are a true friend now and for all days."
According to the indictment, Whittemore duped Reid's campaign committee into believing the contributions came legally from family members and associates....
The indictment alleges Whittemore met with Reid in February 2007 in Las Vegas and agreed to raise $150,000 by the March 31, 2007, campaign finance deadline.
Whittemore unlawfully used family members and associates as conduits for contributions to the senator's campaign and then reimbursed them, the indictment alleges.
Allegations had surfaced that employees of Wingfield Nevada and its subsidiaries were used to donate to political campaigns and were later reimbursed by Whittemore with company money.
In recent years, Whittemore turned his attention away from lobbying to land development.
At the time of his big push to contribute money to Reid's campaign, Whittemore was orchestrating the development of Coyote Springs, a master-planned community in Southern Nevada.
With the help of Reid and other members of the Nevada congressional delegation, Whittemore sought to overcome several government hurdles because of county water and federal land issues.

Of course, Crybaby/Coward/Senile Harry Reid denies he knew anything illegal happened but then just about every person who knows about Harry in Nevada says he is a micro manger of everything that happens in Nevada politics, especially when it comes to money: where it comes from, how it is raised and who the money goes to.  He is the ultimate kingmaker.
Now, his personal money machine, Harvey Whittmore is trying his best to get the charges against him dropped, as which he should, but once the heat was on Whittmore, Harry dropped him like lead balloon.
I just cannot wait until this crying, sniveling thing called Harry Reid is out of office and Nevada can get  rid of this thug and let him live out his remaining pathetic years in Washington D.C..

That is, I can account for that much -- I assume the RJ simply was spoon-fed a new number after I posted this originally. The RJ also has yet to show how obvious it must have been to Harry Reid's campaign folks -- the $147,200 is just under 70 percent of the total reported that one day -- 64 out of 104 contributions. I have left the rest of the blog post below intact, except for updating the list, explaining who I added and amending the orginal numbers.

So they obviously came to an agreement: Whittemore poured money into Reid’s campaigns and Reid cleared the obstacles, allowing Whittemore to develop land for housing that was previously thought impossible to develop.
Reid inserted language in a land management bill that reallocated the power line corridor. Regarding the tortoise issue, he persuaded the Bureau of Land Management to swap that part of the property for land adjacent to the property. And how about this: All four of Reid’s sons have worked for Lionel Sawyer & Collins, a firm that also employs John Dawson, an expert in transferring assets offshore.....

None other than Harvey Whittmore:
F. Harvey Whittemore was born in Carson City, Nevada, in 1952, and was raised in Nevada and Arizona. He graduated from Sparks High School in 1970.^[13] Harvey and his wife, Annette Whittemore, met in college and married in 1973.^[13] Whittemore attended the University of Nevada, Reno and earned a law degree from Arizona State University.^[1]
Whittemore's first experience with politics was the 1978 Nevada gubernatorial race, during which he established contacts in the Nevada political scene. Whittemore hired Reid's 4 sons, donated money to Reid's sons.  Whittemore and Reid are about as close as Siamese twins.

Reid Investigated By FBI

From the LVRJ: Federal prosecutors have disclosed a 2008 FBI investigation of indicted Nevada power broker Harvey Whittemore and his longtime friend, Senate Majority leader Harry Reid.
The investigation, conducted by the FBI’s Washington field office, was sparked by media reports about Reid’s role in helping Whittemore’s Coyote Springs master planned community north of Las Vegas clear of government hurdles. It did not result in criminal charges against either man.
Whittemore’s defense lawyers want a federal judge to allow testimony about the investigation at his federal trial next month on charges of unlawfully funneling $138,000 in campaign contributions to Reid in 2007. Prosecutors have said the Nevada Democrat was unaware of the alleged scheme.
Defense lawyers, led by Dominic Gentile and Vincent Savarese, argued in court papers filed this week that the 2008 investigation shows Whittemore had no criminal intent to make illegal campaign contributions.
Whittemore, 59, was once a top Nevada legislative lobbyist. He was indicted last June on four felony charges, including making excessive contributions and lying to the FBI and the Federal Election Commission. His trial is set for May 14 before Senior U.S. District Judge Larry Hicks in Reno.

Crybaby Harry Reid: Corrupt As Hell

I don't know when this was written, but the folks at Western Journalism wrote a piece about how corrupt Crybaby Reid is.  Even if half the stuff is true, Reid will go down as the most corrupt politician in Nevada and one of the most corrupt in the United States.
While the article was written several years ago, some of the information is pertinent today:
One project Reid obtained $54 million for was for a “Magnetic Levitation Train.” The train would go from Disney Land to Las Vegas, but the project was opposed by the Department of Transportation. Nonetheless, numerous companies and individuals tied to this project gave Reid a total of $28,749.
One taxpayer group denounced the project as:
“[A] train to nowhere….We’re wasting tens of millions of dollars on a project nobody believes will be built except Harry Reid.” (20)

Of course, now, Reid is for the Desert Express high speed train that goes from Las Vegas to Victorville and is pushing for a $6,500,000,000 loan for them.
Also:The Coyote Springs Land Deal Reid accepted donations from a key Chinagate fundraiser: John Huang.Huang was responsible for arranging illegal contributions for the Clintons; in return their administration signed off on hi-tech exports that helped China upgrade its weapons systems.
Indeed, part of it was originally intended for target practice for a defense contractor, part of it was a habitat for the endangered desert tortoise, part of it was for a power line right of way, and much of the property contained a fragile system of streams important to the local ecosystem.

This issue is playing out right now as there are lawsuits and investigations going on with Whittemore and others concerning political donations and other money problems.
The article is a good read as it really shows how corrupt Crybaby Harry Reid is and how stupid the GOP and voters are for not throwing this bum out of office in 2010.  But my guess, once he loses control in the Senate, he will resign "to take time to care of his wife".who is ill and still recovering from a terrible accident a few years ago.  Of course, the Senate is now more important than his wife now because he has the power, but once he loses it, he will leave the Senate.
And one more thing, why is Crybaby Reid and his staff so afraid of me and not respond to my questions on his views on different subjects?
