Yeah, Harry Knew

Harvey Whittemore And Harry Reid
From me, via Jon Ralston:  ....found I had missed a couple of spouses, but I also decided to research some other names and found out the total is not $142,600," including the Harvey and Annette contributions,as the RJ just reported, but at least $147,200. That is, I can account for that much -- I assume the RJ simply was spoon-fed a new number after I posted this originally. The RJ also has yet to show how obvious it must have been to Harry Reid's campaign folks -- the $147,200 is just under 70 percent of the total reported that one day -- 64 out of 104 contributions. I have left the rest of the blog post below intact, except for updating the list, explaining who I added and amending the orginal numbers.
So how obvious is it that Harvey Whittemore bundled six figures to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on one March day in 2007?

Very....
“On that day, Reid's campaign received at least $115,000 from about two dozen Whittemore employees and their family members, most of whom each contributed the maximum allowed $4,600, according to federal campaign reports. The employees also included Whittemore family members.”

And this:But Whittemore was also a large donor to Reid. Whittemore and his family gave over $50,000 to Reid and his leadership fund over the last decade. Reid’s sons also received contributions for their campaigns. (13)
So they obviously came to an agreement: Whittemore poured money into Reid’s campaigns and Reid cleared the obstacles, allowing Whittemore to develop land for housing that was previously thought impossible to develop.
Reid inserted language in a land management bill that reallocated the power line corridor. Regarding the tortoise issue, he persuaded the Bureau of Land Management to swap that part of the property for land adjacent to the property. Then he persuaded the EPA to lesson their opposition to the project on grounds that it impacted the ecosystem of the area.   http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/search?q=coyote+springs
And how about this: All four of Reid’s sons have worked for Lionel Sawyer & Collins, a firm that also employs John Dawson, an expert in transferring assets offshore.....
The Reno managing partner of Lionel Sawyer & Collins is Frederick Whittemore, whose clients have included casino mogul Steve Wynn, identified in a Scotland Yard report as a front man for the Genovese Mob family and connected to some high profile drug dealers. And who is Frederick Whittemore?
None other than Harvey Whittmore:
F. Harvey Whittemore was born in Carson City, Nevada, in 1952, and was raised in Nevada and Arizona. He graduated from Sparks High School in 1970.[13] Harvey and his wife, Annette Whittemore, met in college and married in 1973.[13] Whittemore attended the University of Nevada, Reno and earned a law degree from Arizona State University.[1]
Whittemore's first experience with politics was the 1978 Nevada gubernatorial race, during which he established contacts in the Nevada political scene. He was hired by the law firm Lionel Sawyer & Collins as a lobbyist, where he advanced to senior partnership.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvey_Whittemore
Whittemore hired Reid's 4 sons, donated money to Reid's sons.  Whittemore and Reid are about as close as Siamese twins.
