Karma?

Fron the Detroit Free Press: Amanda Clayton, the Lincoln Park woman who caused a stir after continuing to take food stamps after winning the state lottery's $1-million "Make Me Rich!" game show, has died of a possible drug overdose, police said Saturday.
Clayton, 25, was found dead by police about 9 a.m. at a home on Sunnyside Road in Ecorse, said Ecorse Police Sgt. Cornelius Herring. No further details were released by police.
Clayton was propelled into the spotlight after a local news outlet learned she had won the game show in September 2011, but continued to take welfare benefits. At the time, she said she was entitled to the payments because she still needed help.
The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office did not provide information Saturday night about the cause of Clayton's death. Attempts to reach her family on Saturday were unsuccessful.
Attorney General Bill Schuette charged Clayton with felony welfare fraud, and she was sentenced to nine months of probation in late July. She was also ordered to repay the roughly $5,500 in food and medical assistance she received after winning the money.  http://www.freep.com/article/20120930/NEWS05/309300268/Lottery-winner-who-still-took-food-stamps-found-dead-of-possible-drug-overdose?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|FRONTPAGE|s
I'm sorry, but if you win $1,000,000 and get a sizable amount after taxes, you should not get any welfare benefits.
It sounds like she just lived a screwed up life and drugs finally did her in.  Sad for her family but not too much for her.

"From Cradle To Career": New Liberal Mantra

"From cradle to career" is the new liberal mantra in Obama's Chicago as the City of Chicago will give job preference to graduates from the Chicago Public Schools.
From the Chicago Tribune: Chicago Public Schools graduates could have an advantage landing interviews for jobs with the city, whether it be tree trimming or fighting fires.
Under a new iniatiative announced Saturday by Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s office, the Department of Human Resources will make sure CPS graduates are among at least 20 percent of job applicants they refer to city department managers.
But, the department managers must first specify that they want the CPS graduate preference applied to their pool of applicants, said city spokeswoman Caroline Weisser.
And, the program does not guarantee the grads will get the job, Weisser said.
“But it provides them a leg up in that process,” she said.
Emanuel’s office touted the program as a way to discourage CPS students from dropping out of school.
The CPS graduation rate has been on the rise in recent years, peaking last year at 60.6 percent.
“From cradle to career … we are committed to helping our students succeed every step of the way,” Emanuel said in a press release.
  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-city-offers-a-leg-up-in-job-interviews-to-cps-graduates-20120929,0,7753899.story
Of course, the best candidate out there is screwed if they did not graduate from Chicago Public Schools and and were nt in the military.
But the comment "From cradle to career" ought to make everybody sick and disgusted- that's not the role of the government.

Stupid Parents: Don't take You Kids To Race Car Events

Tonight, at the Camping World truck race in Las Vegas, there were numerous families bringing in their little, little kids.  The ones who were really little, came in strollers.  Strollers may work at a shopping mall, grocery stores and parks because they have a lot of space to maneuver.  But at race car tracks like the LVMS, the aisles are narrow and the stairs are steep and narrow.  If you push a stroller at the LVMS, it is dangerous, both for the kid and other people as you cannot help but to crash into other people.  And seriously people, does a baby want to go to a truck race?
Then the older kids, those who are between 2 and 5, they are a handful and if you cannot control them, don't come to the race track.
We sat directly in front of 1 family who at least 5 kids were between the ages of 1 and 5.  The parents had no control over the kids at all.  We were constantly being kicked, pushed, run into and picking up their sippy cups and bottles.
Then 2 of the carpet munchers, around 10:00, decided they were tired and they wanted everyone to know they were tired and began crying.  The idiot father didn't do anything to help and put the burden of shutting the kid up on the mother.  The kids cried and cried, for at least 20 minutes, though it felt like 100 minutes and finally, they went to sleep.  At one time, my wife pulled a dirty beer can from one of the kids mouth and the bitch mom didn't even bother to thank us.
While I didn't take a poll, I think about 100 of those in our section wanted the kid to shut up but we were too nice and tried to ignore all the crying.
With all the banging and crying by the kids behind us, it helped contribute to us leaving early, one of the first times I have ever left a sporting event early. (But there other problems as well)
But as we were leaving, I think I figured out why the adults were having problems.  The mom had her hair dyed bright red and purple and they had a monkey leash tied to another kid.  I don't think they ever had control of their kids in their life.  The adults were there for the race and no one else mattered- not the kids nor the people who had to put up with the kids crappy behavior (and I don't blame the kids).
So, if you are a parent of a tiny rug rat that needs a stroller or is a crier, please stay home.  The kids don't care if they go to the race or not and the people around you don't love the kids like you do, so right now, i hate you kids for helping to ruin a nice night.  And I hate you as well because mom and dad, are just a spoiled pair of a-holes who don't care about your kids and don't care about the people around you.  If I knew who you were, I'd be calling CPS right now about child abuse.
So, to responsible parents out there, a race track is not the appropriate place to bring a kid who is a newborn to 5 years old.  I'd tell the family behind me, but they are so damn stupid, selfish and child abusers that they don't care or learn.
Probably Obama voters as well.

Shout Out To Norm Benning

 Norm Benning Racing
Most people, inside and outside of NASCAR probably have never heard of Norm Benning and before tonight, I neve rhave either.
But Norm and his Camping World truck came away with more new fans than anyone rcing tonight and it wasn't because of his fast truck or superior driving skills.  He got his fan support for having the slowest truck on the track, not just a little slower but a great dealer slower.  On restarts, by the third lap of the restarts, Benning was almost 3/4 of a lap behind.  He probably was going about 25 MPH slower than anyone and for most of the night, he ran completely by himself.
There is no sponsorship for the truck, except Norm, himself.
Norm had the pit box right in front of our seats and when he pitted, the most crew members I ever saw out there was three, when they changed tires, which I think only happened two times during the entire race.  I think Norm is also the crew chief.  Most of the time, he only came into the pits for gas.  Benning doesn't have any fancy equipment like the other high financed teams have- gas can, jack, air wrenches and another wrench is all I saw being used.
But Norm persevered and continued running the entire race and ended up beating several good teams and drivers, like Johnny Sauter and Parker Klingerman.  In fact, he finished 18th out of 34 drivers and ended up winning around $10,700.  If he had been a start and parker, he would have won around $7500.
While Norm never was in competition to get a top ten finish and even though he drove slowly, he did not affect the race but he did make other drivers use their skills when they passed him.
But Norm isn't a start and parker and most fans appreciated it.  By the time the race was 27 laps into the race, 10 cars were already out of the race, with most being start and parkers.  And with about 100 laps complete, there were numerous fans in our section and others cheering him on by waving and cheering just about every lap.
Right now, Benning is 22nd in points and has won about $111,000 so far this year.
Here is his web site: http://www.normbenningracing.com/
Norm seems like he is one of those drivers who drives for fun and excitement and cares about the integrity of the sport, unlike the start and parkers.  It would be nice if other drivers and teams from Sprint and Nationwide would learn a thing or two from Norm and drive the entire race and then maybe they will pick up fans like Norm did on Saturday night.
Thanks Norm for the racing and good luck in the rest of the season.

NASCAR Truck Races: Part 1

Today, the family went to the NASCAR Camping World Smith 350 truck races at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and the truck races were fun to watch.(not the entire night, but more on that later)
It was an exciting race, as there a last lap pass for the lead, several yellows, including 1 hard crash in front of us.
The driver introductions were kind of cool as the drivers came down from the press box area, through the stands and onto the track, shaking hands and giving high 5's with the fans- which is kind of cool.  Of course they had the 2 Las Vegas show girls (come on, I'm tired of that stereotype) down on the track greeting the driver.
At the truck races, you can sit anywhere you want, except, of course, the suites.  We had some nice seats by the start-finish race and we could have moved (and should have- more on that later)
So, it was a fun night to watch the races.
Here is the write up of from the LVRJ:
Nelson Piquet Jr. raced to his second NASCAR Trucks Series victory of the year Saturday night, passing Matt Crafton on the final lap at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Piquet, the Brazilian whose father won three Formula One titles, also won at Road America in Wisconsin in June.
Crafton took the lead on a restart after the final caution, with Piquet close behind. Piquet went to the bottom of the track on the final lap, and passed Crafton in the second turn.
Pole-winner Joey Coulter was third, followed by Brendan Gaughan and Todd Bodine.
Ty Dillon was 10th and hold into the series lead, ahead of sixth-place finisher James Buescher.  http://www.lvrj.com/sports/nelson-piquet-jr-wins-trucks-race-at-las-vegas-gaughan-finishes-fourth-171963311.html
I just saw the last 16 laps on replay and the TV and the TV made the race look much more exciting than in person..
Look to the posts above for the downsides of the night.

Off To the Races

The family is off to go watch the NASCAR truck series at the Las Vegas MotorSpeed Way.
The race is being sponsored by Smith's grocery stores, so we thank them for their support of the race.
Also, Smiths and the LVMS gave teachers free tickets to the race and we, the family and teachers, appreciate their generosity.
So, it is off to the races for some good racing and family time.

More 47% Obama Supporters

I am a proud member of the 47% that Mitt Romney talks.  I'm proud of it and it is my choice because I work hard for my money and I am not being given a hand out.
However, there are parts of the 47% I embarrassed at and don't want to be associated with them.  here are some sound clips of these Obama supporters and I am sure Obama supporters are just so proud of these people: h/t Grandpa John's

Pervert Stars In Kid Show On Nickelodeon

Nickelodeon is a cable TV network and it it employs a pervert to star in one of it's shows.
From Michelle Malkin:
This weekend, the Viacom-owned children’s network will debut a reboot of the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” TV series. One of the lead characters (“Leonardo”) will be voiced by actor Jason Biggs. On August 29, Biggs published vile, lewd messages on his public Twitter account attacking the wives of the GOP presidential ticket during the Republican National Convention.
The Nickelodeon TV star joked about digitally sodomizing GOP Rep. Paul Ryan’s wife, Janna, and sexually degraded Mitt Romney’s wife, Ann, by referring to her body parts in a similar pornographic manner. He also mocked Christians and their faith. Wrote Biggs: “Clint Eastwood talking to a non-responsive stool sorta sums up Christianity in a nutshell, huh Republicans?”
Biggs then publicly re-tweeted (shared) his actress wife, Jenny Mollen’s, own misogynist jab at Mrs. Ryan: “People are cheering off screen because Janna Ryan is showing her t*ts.”
Biggs cravenly attempted to erase the evidence by deleting his X-rated tweets without apology or acknowledgment. But the Internet is forever. My editors at Twitchy.com, the conservative Twitter curation and aggregation site, preserved the twisted messages and pressed Nickelodeon for corporate accountability. http://michellemalkin.com/2012/09/28/meet-nickelodeons-trash-mouthed-misogynist-jason-biggs/
If yu read what this pervert has written, you would think the same as I: Not only should this guy never be around adults without a 3rd party, he should never be allowed to be around children- ever

The GOP's Version Of ACORN

From the Orlando Sentinel: Florida elections officials said Friday that at least 10 counties have identified suspicious and possibly fraudulent voter registration forms turned in by a firm working for the Republican Party of Florida, which has filed an election fraud complaint with the state Division of Elections against its one-time consultant.
The controversy in Florida -- which began with possibly fraudulent forms that first cropped up in Palm Beach County --  has engulfed the Republican National Committee, which admitted Thursday that it urged state parties in seven swing states to hire the firm, Strategic Allied Consulting. The RNC paid the company at least $3.1 million -- routed through the state parties of Florida, Nevada, Colorado, North Carolina and Virginia -- to register voters and run get-out-the-vote operations. Wisconsin and Ohio had not yet paid the firm for get-out-the-vote operations it was contracted to do.
The RNC severed its ties to the firm Thursday after questions arose about the work Strategic Allied did in Palm Beach County, where election officials have turned over to prosecutors 106 voter registration forms submitted by one worker, some of which contained apparent forgeries and other problems.
Now elections officials across Florida are scrutinizing voter registration forms turned in to their counties on behalf of the state Republican Party. The state elections division is also investigating.
Florida GOP officials – who said they hired Strategic Allied at the request of the RNC – alleged in their complaint Thursday that the firm turned in forms with fake signatures and false information, said Chris Cate, spokesman for the Division of Elections, which will turn over its findings to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.  http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/nationworld/la-pn-voter-registration-florida-republicans-20120928,0,7472042.story
I wonder if the GOP and this fraudulent company will be treated the same as the Democrats and the former ACORN group in the media?
The Democrats defended ACORN and the way it handled voter registration while the GOP fired this company.  But I am sure the media and liberals will accuse the the GOP of encouraging voter fraud and registration.

Obama Treats Illegal alien Gay Couples The Same As Married Couples

first-gay-president-time-mag-obama.jpg
From the Baltimore Sun: The Obama administration has directed immigration officials to recognize same-sex partners as family members in deportation cases, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said on Friday.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told Pelosi in a letter that she had ordered U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to notify its field offices "that the interpretation of the phrase ‘family relationships' includes long-term, same-sex partners."
Pelosi welcomed the federal recognition of gay and lesbian couples. At the same time, she called for more to be done to protect undocumented immigrants in long-term relationships with American citizens.
Napolitano's directive "will provide a measure of clarity and confidence to families dealing with separation in immigration cases," Pelosi said in a written statement. "Our nation is served when loving families are kept together."
But she added: "We need to ... relegate DOMA to the dustbin of history." The 1996 Defense of Marriage Act bars the federal government from extending federal benefits, such as Social Security, to married gay and lesbian couples.

The first gay president, indeed.

Obama Kills American Green Jobs In Oregon

From the Minneapolis Star Tribune: Citing national security risks, President Barack Obama on Friday blocked a Chinese company from owning four wind farm projects in northern Oregon near a Navy base where the U.S. military flies unmanned drones and electronic-warfare planes on training missions.
It was the first time in 22 years that a U.S. president has blocked such a foreign business deal.
Obama's decision was likely to be another irritant in the increasingly tense economic relationship between the U.S. and China. It also comes against an election-year backdrop of intense criticism from Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney, who accuses Obama of not being tough enough with China.
In his decision, Obama ordered Ralls Corp., a company owned by Chinese nationals, to divest its interest in the wind farms it purchased earlier this year near the Naval Weapons Systems Training Facility in Boardman, Ore.
The case reached the president's desk after the Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States, known as CFIUS, determined there was no way to address the national security risks posed by the Chinese company's purchases. Only the president has final authority to prohibit a transaction.
The administration would not say what risks the wind farm purchases presented. The Treasury Department said CFIUS made its recommendation to Obama after receiving an analysis of the potential threats from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
Morrow County planner, Carla McLane, said the projects had won county approval and construction was under way until CFIUS issued an order in July that halted construction. She said she does not know what the security concerns were.
Each of the four projects consists of five turbines, each with a two-megawatt capacity, for a total of 10 megawatts per project, or a total of 40 for the four. As the crow flies, McLane said, the projects are about 10 miles from the bombing range — as it's known locally.  http://www.startribune.com/business/171821981.html
So, Obama kills a bunch of construction jobs and killed a bunch of green energy jobs and gives no reason for it?
I thought Obama was for jobs and green energy.  I guess not.

Update: Michael Savage Leaves talk Radio

From Michael Savage.com: This is Michael Savage's response in regards to his win in court and him being off of talk radio:
AFTER A GRUELING LEGAL BATTLE THAT COST HIM AND HIS FAMILY DEARLY, MICHAEL SAVAGE CAN ANNOUNCE HE WON! HE IS FREE AT LAST. FREE TO WORK WITH WHOMEVER HE WISHES IN THE RADIO INDUSTRY FROM TODAY FORWARD.
MICHAEL WILL NOT BE HEARD ON THE RADIO FOR SOME TIME, BUT YOU CAN KEEP UP WITH HIM BY LOGGING ONTO MICHAELSAVAGE.COM EVERY DAY FOR UPDATES AND BY SUBSCRIBING TO HIS FREE NEWSLETTER AT THE TOP OF HIS WEBSITE.

FOR THOSE IN THE RADIO OR MEDIA WHO WISH FURTHER INFORMATION, PLEASE CONTACT HIS ATTORNEY, DAN HOROWITZ, (925) 283-1863.
http://www.michaelsavage.wnd.com/2012/09/michael-savage-free-at-last/
Here is Savage's Facebook page:  http://www.facebook.com/MichaelSavagePage
While Savage won his case, in the end, will he have won?  He will be off the air for an extended period of time each day he is gone is another day without income and losing his listeners.
With the competition of talk radio, his fans will go somewhere.  In Las Vegas, they may go to Neal Bortz on AM 670 for the time being, until Bortz retires in January.  They may also go to Mike Huckabee on 790.  Unless KDWN picks up another national talker quickly, they will be hurt because all of Savage's substitutes pretty much sucked.  If I were a liberal, I would be lobbying KDWN for a liberal talk show host.  Does Ed Schultz still have his radio show?
In the end, i think the real loser will be Michael Savage- if he gets back into talk radio, he will have to build up his audience again and he may not want to do that.  The other losers will be the local affiliates who lost a a talk show host who brought in ratings with no notice.
The winners in this case right now will be liberals who have hated him from Day 1

Huckabee: Libya Cover Up Worse Than Watergate

From Politico: Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee on Friday said the American people “have flat-out been lied to” by President Barack Obama and his administration about the violence in Libya — and this cover-up is worse than Richard Nixon’s scandal because “nobody died in Watergate.”
“Let’s just get blunt. No way to sugar coat this — We’ve been lied to. We have flat-out been lied to. They know they’ve lied,” Huckabee told Fox News’s “America’s Newsroom.” “It’s as if airplanes crashing into the World Trade Center and somebody says, ‘those were just accidents. The planes veered off course.’ Everybody with two eyes and IQ above plant life understands that what happened in Egypt and what happened in Libya was not some spontaneous reaction to a stupid 13-minute video on YouTube. It was a planned, coordinated, orchestrated attack led by terrorists.”
Huckabee, who hosts “Huckabee” on Fox and the radio program “The Mike Huckabee Show,” then likened the Libya situation to Watergate.
“Richard Nixon was forced out of office because he lied and because he covered some stuff up. I’m going to be blunt and tell you this — nobody died in Watergate,” Huckabee said. “We have some people who are dead because of this. There are some questions to be answered and Americans ought to demand to get answers and it doesn’t matter what the politics are.”
Co-host Bill Hemmer later followed-up, asking, “You’re comparing the events of today to Watergate?
“I sure am,” Huckabee said.
“This White House has been discredited and its credibility, certainly the promises of transparency have been completely decimated by their actions,” Huckabee added.
“It’s very strong language, but I know you’ve thought about this,” Hemmer replied.
Huckabee stood by his comments later Friday, telling listeners of his radio show that he gave a “very honest answer.” He also brought up Bill Clinton’s Monica Lewinsky scandal and his denial of the affair to Americans.  http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2012/09/huckabee-obamas-libya-coverup-worse-than-watergate-136929.html
Without a doubt, the Obama administration has lied about what really happened with the death of the Libyan ambassador and 2 security men and we still don't have the truth.
It was clear within a day that this was a terrorist attack that was planned but the Obama administration still stuck to the story that some stupid movie trailer on the Internet was the cause of Muslim violence in the Mideast and other places.  In fact, they still seem to think the movie trailer had something to do with the Libyan deaths and other acts of violence.
Is this cover up as as bad as Watergate?  Of course it is because an ambassador died.  Will anything be done about it?  Of course not because Obama is the Teflon god.  Nothing sticks to him, just like the death of a police officer in Fast and Furious has been overlooked by the media, this Libyan assassination of the Libyan and the cover up will be ignored by the Obama media lap dogs.

The Queen Has A Hand Washer And Obama Has A Food Taster

It's good to be the king.
From the Washington Examiner: Other fun facts: Presidents rarely enter a hotel through the lobby, opting instead for the loading dock. And when President Obama travels, his food is sampled by a Navy officer before he eats it for security reasons http://washingtonexaminer.com/how-the-president-gets-around/article/2509247#.UGaic648VXs
This is just stupid.  First, unless it is a fast acting poison like cyanide, even if you taste the food, you may not get immediately sick.  And if the Secret Service is so worried about the President's food, then have someone in the kitchen to watch the cook or if they are that paranoid about the poisoning the President's food, then bring food from the White House and throw it into the microwave or oven or give the guy a MRE.
As Mel Brooks says:

Fair Death Penalty Verdict?

From Firehouse.com: A jury recommended death on Friday for an arsonist convicted of murdering five men who died of heart attacks during a wildfire that ripped through Southern California nearly a decade ago.
The murder charges against Rickie Lee Fowler, 31, signaled a tough standard for arson cases in a region plagued by wildfires that sometimes claim the lives of firefighters and civilians.
The Old Fire scorched 91,000 acres and destroyed 1,000 buildings while burning for nine days. The men died after their homes burned or as they tried to evacuate.
Superior Court Judge Michael A. Smith ordered Fowler to return to court Nov. 16 for sentencing. The judge can either accept the jury's recommendation or sentence Fowler to life in prison without possibility of parole.
Fowler, who wore a pinstriped shirt, spoke briefly with his attorney after the recommendation was read. He was handcuffed and led down a hall by bailiffs.
Jurors declined to speak with reporters outside the courtroom.
Defense attorney Michael Belter said he spoke with one of them afterward and was told that during the panel's lengthy deliberations jurors went back and forth on whether to recommend a life sentence or death.
"We still take the position that if one is not involved with the intentional killing of somebody, the death penalty would not be warranted," Belter said of the defense's position.  http://www.firehouse.com/news/10796210/death-penalty-for-arsonist-blamed-for-five-heart-attack-deaths
I am a person who supports the death penalty and would like to see it happen more often and get rid of the lengthy appeals process.
In this case, I just don't see the justification of the death penalty.  The deaths were not per-mediated, the heart attacks could have contributing factors such as the age, health, life style habits, medical history and how good of shape the victims were in at the time of their deaths.
Of course, the guy needs to be punished and life in prison may be appropriate, but the death penalty?  I don't think so.

Bailey Throws 7th No-Hitter Of Season

From ESPN: Homer Bailey had a certain milestone on his mind when he walked to the mound Friday night. He wound up pulling off an even bigger feat.
Bailey pitched the seventh no-hitter in the majors this season, leading the Cincinnati Reds to a 1-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The right-hander began the night with 195 innings pitched this season and was eager to reach 200 for the first time in his six-year career.
"I looked up at the scoreboard (after the fifth inning) to see if I had hit 200 and saw a couple of zeros," Bailey said. "That's when I knew I had a chance at a no-hitter. It's not something you think about doing."It was the 15th no-hitter in Reds history and first since Tom Browning's perfect game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sept. 16, 1988.The seven major league no-hitters match the modern record for one season, tying 1990 and 1991. There were eight no-hitters in 1884.  http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=320928123
He is also the first pitcher with the first name "Homer" to throw a no-hitter.
With all the hitter friendly ball parks in the MLB and the supposed weakness of pitching we were supposed to have, it's quite a feat to have 8 no-hitters thrown in 1 season.  That's kind of a shame because it kind of cheapens the no-hitter to where it really isn't a big deal anymore when a no-hitter is thrown.

John Oceguera: Liar And Cheat

John Oceguera  is running for Congress as a Democrat in Nevada and is running against Dr. Joe Heck, and what a shock, he is a liar.
Oceguera is a former Assistant Fire Chief for the North Las Vegas.  The North Las Vegas Fire Department is a full time fire department with about 100 full time fire fighters.
In Oceguera's feel good commercial, he states he runs into burning buildings.  Umm, no he doesn't.  He is an assistant fire chief- he orders people into burning buildings.
He also states that that firefighting is a full time job, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Again, Oceguera is not a volunteer firefighter, where the volunteer is actually on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The only time Oceguera is called back is when there would be a large fie, and in North Las Vegas, that is very rare.
Yeah, these are little lies that Oceguera has told to make himself look like someone he is not.
But the biggest lie he is spreading is that he didn't rip off tax payers.
Well, Oceguera is a double dipper, collecting money as a state legislator while also collecting a paycheck at the fire department: http://nevadajournal.com/2011/06/30/nlv-fire-department-confirms-ocegueras-double-dipping/
What is even worse is that Oceguera promised to work other for other firefighters but he failed to hold up his end of the bargain, screwing over his fellow firefighters.  http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2011/07/double-dipper-who-steals-from.html
Is that the kind of person who belongs in Congress?  Well, there are plenty of cheats and liars there, I suppose, so we don't need to send another one to Congress.

About Those Obama Phones

From Charlie Sykes, a conservative talker:
The free cell phones are a good example. Fifty two year old Leon Simmons and his wife make only about $1,600 a month after taxes. Out of that, they are able to pay $159 a month for a landline telephone, high speed internet access, and cable television.
But under a new program of “wireless welfare,” they get their cell phone for free, complete with caller ID, call waiting, and voicemail. In a story on the rapid growth of  the program, Simmons  told the New York Times that he thought people walking around talking on cellphones look “silly.” But, he says, he’ll use his new one, and why not?
“It’s free,” he explained.  As indeed it is, along with government-backed free text messaging.[i]
Low income residents in a number of states are eligible to get free phones with limited minutes as long as they qualified for programs like Medicaid, food stamps, housing assistance, or other welfare program and had an income below 135% of the poverty level.[1]
Few programs illustrate the “mission creep” of anti-poverty programs as clearly as the phone program, or how far many of those programs have drifted from a focus on providing basic needs to the destitute.  Medicaid for the sick, shelter for the homeless, food for the starving…. cell phones for the unconnected? How far we’ve come.  (A 2010 study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that 73 percent of adults listed as living in poverty nonetheless now own cell phones.)[ii]
Most of those phones are distributed through a Mexican-owned company called Tracphone. Since November, 2008, the number of customers receiving free or subsidized wireless service has  more than doubled to 1.4 million.[1]
Advocates have quickly turned the perk into an entitlement. The spokesman for the leading company offering the subsidized phone says, "Having a telephone service, just in general, is not a privilege, it should be a right of each one.” [iii][2] Presumably this means that they are also entitled to free text messages, call waiting, and caller ID as well.  http://www.620wtmj.com/blogs/charliesykes/171768861.html
Well, why didn't this loser member of the 47% and Obama voter give credit to Bush since he started the program?
So, this is the story about the Obama phones.  Did you even know about this program?  Neither did I.

This Is Kind Of Funny...

The Screen Actor's Guild have a nice on-line story telling program where they have movie and TV stars read children books and they throw in some animation.  Some of the stars include Betty White. Melissa Gilbert, Ernest Borgnine, a bunch of young stars I never heard of and... Al Gore..
Al Gore, bless is soul for doing the reading, is the main wacko talking about global warming.  He has thrown temper tantrums about global warming, all the while he drives around in air conditioned SUV's and living in mansions that suck electricity.
So, the SAG had him read a story, and I am sure he could read any story out there that is geared towards very young kids.
So, what book does Gore read?  "Brave Irene", written by William Steig.
What is "Brave Irene" about, you ask?  From Storyline Online: "Plucky Irene, a dressmaker's daughter, braves a fierce snowstorm to deliver a new gown to the duchess in time for the ball."

I wonder if Gore got pranked by having the face of global warming reading about a huge blizzard.
I realize that young kids won't get the connection, but I thought it was kind of funny that Gore is reading about a severe blizzard all the while he is complaining about global warming/climate change.

So, Obama Apolgizes For A Movie Trailer That Rips Islam, But...

Why hasn't Obama condemn or at least why has he spoken out about the piece of "art" where the cross is dipped in urine and was on display in a New York City gallery?
Madonna is right (even a blind squirrel gets a nut once in awhile) when she said Obama is a black Muslim president.

Bench Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods may be one of the best golfers ever but when it comes down to the Ryder Cup, he just down right sucks.
From the Mercury News:
In 29 career Ryder Cup matches, Woods has earned only 14 points for the Americans. Take away his 4-1-1 record in singles, and his work in paired matches is an even more dismal 9-13-1.
The only time he has been on a winning team came in 1999, when Ben Crenshaw's side pulled off the stunning "Miracle at Brookline." Woods missed the most recent U.S. success in 2008, when he was recovering from reconstructive knee surgeryhttp://www.mercurynews.com/golf/ci_21649359/ryder-cup-tiger-woods-accepts-blame-his-poor
Today, the Ryder Cup started and is being played in the Chicago area.  Woods and Steve stricker lost the morning match to Ian Poulter and Justin Rose, 2 & 1 (the winners were up 2 holes and they didn't play 1 hole because the winners already clinched the win, thus the 2&1)
This afternoon, Stricker and Woods are trailing Lee Westwood and Nick Colsaerts by 1 shot with 4 holes to play.
For some reason, Woods just stinks in the Ryder Cup, an international competition of the Europeans vs the United States that happens every 4 years.  Why?  Maybe he is tired after a full season of golf- oh wait, he plays in very few tournaments each season.
Or perhaps, he just doesn't take the Ryder Cup seriously.  Whatever the reason he needs to be benched.

Congratulations To My Wonderful Wife

Since Cathy and I have been married, almost 3 years now (October 26 is our wedding date- thank goodness I can remember that), she has lost over 75 pounds.
And she hasn't even dieted been sick nor did I put on any kind of pressure to have her lose weight.
And she looks damn good!
Congratulations, sweetheart.
On the other hand, I think I got some of her weight.

The $1.4 Billion President

From The Daily Caller: Taxpayers spent $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks.
In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million on the royal family.
Author Robert Keith Gray writes in “Presidential Perks Gone Royal” that Obama isn’t the only president to have taken advantage of the expensive trappings of his office. But the amount of money spent on the first family, he argues, has risen tremendously under the Obama administration and needs to be reined in.
Gray told The Daily Caller that the $1.4 billion spent on the Obama family last year is the “total cost of the presidency,” factoring the cost of the “biggest staff in history at the highest wages ever,” a 50 percent increase in the numbers of appointed czars and an Air Force One “running with the frequency of a scheduled air line.”
“The most concerning thing, I think, is the use of taxpayer funds to actually abet his re-election,” Gray, who worked in the Eisenhower administration and for other Republican presidents, said in an interview with TheDC on Wednesday....
In the book, Gray admits Americans want their president to be safe and comfortable but argues the system should be reformed to stop the amount of unquestioned perks given to the president.
“There is no mechanism for anyone’s objection if a president were to pay his chief of staff $5,000,000 a year,” he told TheDC. “And nothing but a president’s conscience can dissuade him from buying his own reelection with use of some public money.”
Aside from a salary, the president gets a $50,000 a year expense account, a $100,000 travel account, $19,000 entertainment budget and an additional million for “unanticipated needs,” he notes.
The president has a full-time movie projectionist in the White House theater: Projectionists sleep at the White House and are there 24 hours a day in case anyone needs to see a movie. “Compared to the 450 times President Carter used the movie theater in his four years in the White House, the average American citizen, according to industry statistics, goes out to see a movie slightly less than five times a year,” Gray writes....
The president’s family’s gets certain travel and security expenses paid while vacationing: “First Lady Michelle Obama drew flack from the media and irate citizens when it was disclosed that, not counting Saturdays and Sundays, she spent 42 days on vacation — within the span of one year.”
The president’s dog gets its own high-paid staffer: “Bo made the news when he and his handler were flown to join the president on vacation in Maine,” Gray wrote about the Obama family dog. “It has been reported that the first family’s dog handler was paid $102,000, last year.
There is no justification to be spending $1,400,000,000 on the Obama family and his aides.  Can you imagine if Mitt Romney or George Bush spent this much money and what the liberals would be saying?  They would be demanding Romney and Bush fly coach and donate the savings to the poor.
Yes, being president does bring perks and some are justified, even if abused.  For instance, George Bush would sometimes have Air Force 1 fly over a political rally on it's way to it's landing, to impress the faithful, so if Obama did, it's ok by me.
But to spend $102,000 on a dog handler, for 1 stinking dog?  Hell, make the Secret Service or Joe Biden pick up the poop Bo lays down- Biden doesn't do much any ways.  Heck, Biden can run the movie projector as well.  It doesn't take that many brain cells to run a movie projector.

Obama Is Saying "I Got to Get Me One Of Those"

From the Daily Telegraph:
It is one of the more unusual roles occupied by the Queen’s courtiers, but Washer of the Sovereign’s Hands is a post that must now be filled.
Mandrake learns that the holder of the title, Peter Houison Craufurd, died on Monday, at the age of 82. He always had a silver ewer, bowl and salver holding a linen towel on permanent standby.
“We used to have to write to Buckingham Palace to offer to wash the monarch’s hands every time they were in residence at the Palace of Holyroodhouse,” said Houison Craufurd.
“In his day, my father had to make that offer virtually every year, although it was very seldom accepted.
“More recently, we have been told by the Queen’s office that, as we have already washed her hands once, that is all she requires us to do. So now we have to wait until Prince Charles takes the throne before we do it again.”
Houison Craufurd, who was the 28th laird of Craufurdland Castle, in Ayrshire, held the title because one of his ancestors chased off a pair of murderous thugs attacking James V. In return, the king gave him a farm, on the condition that his family be ready with water and towels to wash the monarch’s hands.
“The ceremony, or the washing, requires three people. I washed George VI’s hands at Holyrood when I was eight.” He washed the Queen’s hands a year after her coronation.
It is understood that his eldest son, Alex Houison Craufurd, will inherit the title.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/theroyalfamily/9558652/The-Queen-loses-her-hand-washer.html
President Obama is just thinking that he loves some of these perks of being royalty.  Obama thinks he is royalty and expects royal treatment and he needs to get a presidential hand washer, especially after shaking hands with all of us unclean people so he will be equal to the Queen.

Obama, Reid, Berkley And Titus Jealous

From Reuters: President Francois Hollande's Socialist government unveiled sharp tax hikes on business and the rich on Friday in a 2013 budget aimed at showing France has the fiscal rigor to remain at the core of the euro zone.
The package will recoup 30 billion euros ($39 billion) for the public purse with a goal of narrowing the deficit to 3.0 percent of national output next year from 4.5 percent this year - France's toughest single belt-tightening in 30 years.
But with record unemployment and a barrage of data pointing to economic stagnation, there are fears the deficit target will slip as France falls short of the modest 0.8 percent economic growth rate on which it is banking for next year.
The budget disappointed pro-reform lobbyists by merely freezing France's high public spending rather than daring to attack ministerial budgets as Spain did this week as it battles to avoid the conditions of an international bailout.
T

o the dismay of business leaders who fear an exodus of top talent, the government confirmed a temporary 75 percent super-tax rate for earnings over one million euros and a new 45 percent band for revenues over 150,000 euros.
Together, those two measures are predicted to bring in around half a billion euros. Higher tax rates on dividends and other investments, plus cuts to existing tax breaks are seen bringing in several billion more.
Business will be hit with measures including a cut in the amount of loan interest which is tax-deductible and the cutting of an existing tax break on capital gains from certain share sales - moves worth around four billion and two billion euros each.
"The government is impeding investment and so will block innovation," Entrepreneurs Club head Guillaume Cairou said of the preference for raising taxes rather than cutting spending.
"France is sick because of the model it has ... but is choosing to preserve it."
Four months after he defeated Nicolas Sarkozy, Hollande's approval ratings are in free-fall as many French feel he has been slow to get to grips with the economic slow-down and unemployment at a 10-year high and rising.  http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/09/28/us-france-budget-idUSBRE88R0AK20120928
Many of France's rich are already fleeing France so, the French government will not get very much money from the rich.  There will also be a brain drain as these people go to high paying jobs elsewhere, leaving lesser qualified people to do the job.
Th liberals don't get it- it's not the revenue that is the problem to most financial problems, it's the spending.

Obama's Chicago: Judge Kisses Up To Occupy Thugs

From the Chicago Sun Times:
They were handcuffed, hauled out of Grant Park and stuck in jail for up to 24 hours — even though the maximum penalty for a curfew violation includes no jail time.
But now, a judge said the city infringed on the First Amendment rights of hundreds of Occupy Chicago protesters who were arrested last October when they refused to leave Grant Park at its 11 p.m. closing time.
Cook County Associate Judge Thomas More Donnelly threw out the charges against 92 of the
demonstrators, saying the curfew law used against them was unconstitutional and violated their right of free assembly.
In his 38-page ruling, Donnelly said the city treated the Occupy Chicago rally differently than the Obama 2008 presidential election victory celebration in Grant Park. The judge noted that the Obama rally also violated the curfew, but no one was arrested at that event.
Donnelly also alleged that police subjected Occupy Chicago demonstrators to “constantly changing rules and regulations” as the protests shuttled last year between downtown locations.
Officials with Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s administration immediately said they planned to appeal.
“We are disappointed with the decision,” city Law Department spokesman Roderick Drew said.
He later sent a written statement saying the ruling would not change closing times in the city’s 580 parks.  http://www.suntimes.com/15414194-761/judge-throws-out-charges-against-occupy-chicago-protesters.html
It's a very simple thing: the protesters chose to break the law and now they go crying to a liberal activist judge who says curfew laws are just for those who make out in cars or just want to hike int he woods.
but it also shows that the the Occupy thugs really are not thugs but in reality, are a just a bunch of cowards.  It seems like they cannot do the time for committing a crime.  Just pathetic.
Liberal activist judges in Obama's Chicago and they are coming to a town near you.

Christians File Lawsuit Saying Cops Did Not Protect Them Muslims

From the Detroit Free Press: A legal center filed a lawsuit this week against the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, claiming its officers failed to protect Christian activists who carried a pig's head while protesting Islam at the annual Arab International Festival in Dearborn.
Filed in Detroit, the lawsuit says that deputy chiefs in the department violated the constitutional rights of the Christian missionaries by not allowing them to "engage in Christian religious speech and expressive activities."...
On June 15, a group of Christian missionaries from California known as the Bible Believers arrived at the Arab festival with large signs denigrating Islam and its prophet. Some of the signs read: "Islam is a religion of blood and murder" and "Muhammad is a ... liar, false prophet, murderer, child molesting pervert." They also carried a pig's head mounted on a pole. Muslims consider pigs to be unclean.
Some youths in the crowd became upset at the signs and started hurling water bottles at the Bible Believers. The lawsuit claims that stones and debris also were hurled.
"We have an angry and violent mob of Muslims intent on suppressing free speech and law enforcement officials aiding and abetting the violence in violation of the Constitution," Muise said.
Paula Bridges, a spokeswoman for Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon, did not comment this week on the lawsuit. In June, she said of the Christian group:
"While Sheriff Napoleon respects everyone's right to freedom of speech, it's unfortunate that some have chosen to exploit and taint what was to be a peaceful, community event."  http://www.freep.com/article/20120928/NEWS05/309280130/Lawsuit-Wayne-County-Sheriff-s-Office-failed-to-protect-Christian-activists-at-Dearborn-festival?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|FRONTPAGE|p
It seems like this "Christian" group wanted to provoke the Muslims into a confrontation.
But if the reverse happened, would the cops protect Muslims from Christians, if the Muslims provoked Christians into fighting them by making fun of Jesus on the cross?  Probably.
If I were a judge and/or jury, I would give the Christian group $1 and tell them to go away.

Quote Of The Night

From the Denver Post:
Republican Joe Coors fired his toughest salvo yet at Democrat Ed Perlmutter, saying, "I don't think he could manage a lemonade stand without a federal grant or some subsidies."
The audience at the Arvada Center erupted in cheers at Coors' remark Thursday morning during the first debate between the two 7th Congressional District candidates.
"Forgive me for that dig," Coors said to Perlmutter, "but your claim about outsourcing jobs is clearly false."
That quote could also be said about Shelly Berkley, Dina Titus, President Obama and and Crybaby/Coward/Senile Harry Reid.

Sad: 5 People Shot To Death In Minneapolis

From the Star Tribune: A man who apparently had just lost his job at a small business in Minneapolis' Bryn Mawr neighborhood returned to the building Thursday afternoon and opened fire, killing the company's founder and three others before taking his own life. Four people were hurt, three critically.
Early Friday, police said that five people were killed; only the gunman and company founder Reuven Rahamim were known to be dead.
Two other company executives, director of operations John Souter and production manager Eric Rivers, were in critical condition at Hennepin County Medical Center. Hospital officials said one other victim was in critical condition and a fourth was in satisfactory condition. Those two victims have not been identified.
Police swarmed to the chaotic scene, which unfolded just after 4:30 p.m. inside Accent Signage Systems, 2322 Chestnut Av. W. One of the dead was Rahamim, a business associate of Rahamim said late Thursday.
As those from the neighborhood who heard the shots fled in fear or gathered nearby seeking information, officers from many law enforcement agencies, including SWAT team specialists, swarmed to the scene. About an hour into the incident, scanner reports came that the shooter was dead of a self-inflicted gunshot in the building's basement. Although his name was not released or confirmed by police or the company, sources identified him as Andrew J. Engeldinger, 36. Late Thursday, the south Minneapolis house Engeldinger owns and occupies was searched by rifle-toting law enforcement personnel wearing body armor.  http://www.startribune.com/local/minneapolis/171609251.html
This is another hazard of being a business owner.  If you hire and then fie a person, throwing that person's life in chaos, the owner can face serious threats from former employees.  I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.

Good For Hobby Lobby

From the Deseret News:
Craft store chain Hobby Lobby filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the Obama administration's requirement that most health insurance plans cover contraceptives for women, citing the owner's religious beliefs and opposition to covering abortion-inducing drugs.
The rule change took effect for businesses on Aug. 1, and requires coverage for sterilization, contraception and some abortion-causing drugs. Hobby Lobby is the largest and only non-Catholic-owned business to file a lawsuit against the mandate thus far, joining 26 other separate lawsuits. A variety of religious groups have pushed back against the rule, saying it is a violation of their fundamental right to religious freedom.
Critics of the mandate have pointed out that while there are exemptions for places of worship, the exemptions are so narrow that they would disqualify those who serve people outside of their faith, like Mother Teresa and Jesus Christ. Religiously affiliated organizations such as hospitals, school and charities are not exempted, and non-profits have until Aug. 1, 2013, to comply.
Hobby Lobby CEO and founder David Green credits God's grace and provision with Hobby Lobby's success, and said the company cannot abandon its religious standards in order to comply with the mandate.
"We seek to honor God by operating the company in a manner consistent with Biblical principles," Green said. "The conflict for me is that our family is being forced to choose between following the laws of the country that we love, or maintaining the religious beliefs that have made our business successful and have supported our family and thousands of our employees and their families."  http://www.chron.com/news/article/Pastors-protest-Hobby-Lobby-on-morning-after-pill-3899201.php
I hope Hobby Lobby wins their suit as ObamaCare is clearly unconstitutional when it comes to forcing people to fund insurance benefits that violate their personal beliefs.
I know there is a Hobby Lobby in Henderson, by Best Buy on sunset.  I've been there once, but it is not the kind of hobbies I engage in, but if you like doing arts and crafts, check them out and support them in their fight against the Federal government.

Who's That On The Right?

 MORAN28F_1_WEB

That's 51 year old Erin Moran from Happy Days.  She looks more like 65 or 70 and times are not that good for her as she has been kicked out of a trailer court, mostly for her loud parties and rowdy times.

Michael Savage Off The Air

The Pit Bull of Conservative talk radio, Michael Savage is off the air.
From the San Francisco Chronicle: Michael Savage's talk show left the airwaves Thursday after the conservative host won a legal battle with his longtime employer, although his attorney said discussions with new networks are already under way.
Savage posted a message on his website Thursday evening under the headline "Free at Last!" that said he was free to work with any station or network from now on. He said he "will not be heard on the radio for some time."
His attorney Daniel Horowitz said Savage left Talk Radio Network after obtaining a favorable ruling in arbitration Thursday afternoon.
More than 8 million people listen to Savage's show each week, placing him behind only Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity in ratings, according to the magazine Talkers. The immediate effect that his abrupt departure would have on companies that advertise on his show was unclear.
An email sent to Oregon-based Talk Radio Network was not immediately returned. Savage's bio and name already have been removed from the company's website.
Horowitz says Savage has been fighting the network for two years to get out a contract that was 10 years old and prevented the host from switching employers. Horowitz said the agreement lacked protections afforded to artists and entertainers under California law, and tied Savage to Talk Radio Network indefinitely.
Savage is heard locally on AM 720, KDWN.
KDWN is going to be hurt by this badly.  while they do have Jerry Doyle, he is not a huge talk radio show.  and after Savage, we have some local talkers who talk about sports but just are not that entertaining to me.
And the people who have been replacements for Savage just are not that good.
I'm not sure if Savage leaving the air waves will hurt or help the conservative movement.  Savage is to conservative talk radio as Ann Coulter is to writing.
This is Savage's web site but nothing is mentioned about him leaving radio, at least temporarily: http://www.michaelsavage.wnd.com/

WTF: Passenger Jet Plane Buzzing Henderson?

This evening, around 7:25 or so and when I was taking our dogs outside to do their thing, a fairly large passenger jet seemed like it was buzzing Henderson in a low alitude fly over.
Normally, the flight path leads over our apartment complex, but they are several thousand feet in the air.
Tonight, and it was too dark to see what airline it was, took the curve planes take and was probably only around 500 to 1000 feet in the air.  You could see all the windows, nooks and corners in the plane and the engines were very, very loud, which drew my attention to the plane.
So, was the pilot buzzing Henderson on purpose, or did they not know what they were doing or was there some mechanical problems with the plane?

R.I.P. Herbert Lom

Unless you are a fan of the Pink Panther movies, you probably have never heard of Herbert Lom who played the Chief Inspector Dryfus, has died at the age of 95.
From the LA Times:
Herbert Lom, the actor who played Chief Inspector Dreyfus in the Pink Panther movies and was memorably reduced to eye-twitching madness dealing with Peter Sellers' imbecilic Inspector Clouseau, has died. He was 95.
Lom died Thursday in his sleep at his London home, said the actor's son Alec
A Czech native who immigrated to England just before the start of World War II, Lom carved out a prolific career that included a starring role as the King of Siam in the original 1953 London production of "The King and I."
He also appeared in scores of films over more than 60 years, including playing a crime-gang member in "The Ladykillers" (1955), Napoleon in "War and Peace" (1956), a pirate chieftain in "Spartacus" (1960) and the title role in the Hammer Films production of "The Phantom of the Opera" (1962).
But he was "badly typecast in British films," Lom told Australia's Daily Telegraph in 1999, "and it needed an American, Blake Edwards, to take me away from endless villainous roles and into the comedy of the Pink Panther films."
Lom's first time out as the long-suffering Charles Dreyfus was in "A Shot in the Dark," the 1964 follow-up to "The Pink Panther," writer-director Edwards' 1963 hit that introduced Sellers as Jacques Clouseau.
"I was invited to have lunch at the Dorchester with Blake Edwards," Lom told the Edinburgh Evening News in 2002. "He told me he had seen me playing heavy villains and thought I was funny.
"At first I didn't take it as a compliment. But then he explained that he did not want a comic actor who would play Dreyfus for laughs."
Lom viewed his involvement in the Pink Panther films playing "a blithering idiot named Inspector Dreyfus," as a highlight of his career.  http://www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/la-me-herbert-lom-20120928,0,5871882.story
Another celebrity passing away this year.  I jsut wonder who is next.
From the Pink Panther Strikes Again:

So, What Will President Obama's 3 Day Trip To Las Vegas Cost Us?

So, President Obama is having his big Tiger Woods moment on Sunday and will stay until Tuesday and the cost of the trip to the Valley will cost us plenty of money.
From Fox 5 News: President Barack Obama is coming to town on Sunday for a three-day trip, but it comes with a price to pay for people who need to fly or drive.
The Secret Service by way of the FAA issued a no-fly zone of 30 miles around Las Vegas. Major airlines won't be affected except for when the president is taking off or landing. Helicopter companies, however, aren't so lucky. They've been told to stay on the ground all three days.
"As a company alone we're talking $180,000 to $220,000 minimum," said Nigel Turner, president of Heli USA Airways, which operates out of McCarran International Airport.
That's how much Turner says he'll lose when the president comes to town this weekend. The restriction applies to everything from flight training to banner planes and most of all, sightseeing aircraft.
If the blades aren't spinning at Heli USA, Turner says it's bad news.
"A lot of these [customers] book months in advance, and every time the president comes here, it closes our whole industry," he said.
Heli USA is just one of several sightseeing companies that fly to places like the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. This company flies 400 to 500 people every day.
"It's the height of the tourist season," Turner noted. "We have all these people booked. What are we going to do with them for three days?"
Another person who works for a helicopter tour company sent a "Rant" to FOX5, and said: "We are completely shut down while he's here. I get paid by the flight and not the hour.http://www.fox5vegas.com/story/19661967/flight-restrictions-to-ground-local-companies-for-days
The rally is going to be held on a Sunday afternoon at Desert Pines High School.  Because of this, the District will have to fork over a boatload of cash in overtime to pay for the cops, custodians and other workers who will have to work that day.  I don't know how much it will be exactly, but with a very tight budget, this will cost the district at least 1 or 2 teaching positions and the Obama campaign will not reimburse the District, other than rent for the school.
I am sure he same is true with Metro and the Highway patrol- they will have to call people in on a Sunday afternoon and pay them overtime.
Then, who is going to pick up the tab for 2 nights at Lake Las Vegas for the President and his staff, along with Secret Service and everyone else associated with Obama?  I am sure the Obama campaign will find a way to make sure the taxpayers pick up the tab.
What are the economic benefits of Obama being here?  Obviously, the shops at Lake Las Vegas will be flourishing.  However, Lake Las Vegas is not close to the Strip or any other part of the Valley, so no other part of the Strip or Valley will benefit financially from Obama's visit.
Yes, I am happy that Obama is visiting our school but the rest of the time, I wish another city would babysit him.  his visiting Las Vegas is no longer a novelty, it's becoming a pain in the butt.  Let another city pick up the costs of having Obama and his ilk by hosting his Tiger Woods moment. (Seems like he never comes to Vegas with Michelle-hmmmm)

Respect The Office....

Respect the office I said as I put up this outside sign at our school.
Some more information about the President's visit to our school.
The rally is going to be on the soccer field at our school, even though the football field and gym were available.
The reason why the soccer field?  So they don't show any empty seats.  We don't have any stands for the soccer field.
I know that we will not be allowed to bring chairs, so, do they expect us to stand the entire time?
While the doors are scheduled to open around 4:00, it was suggested that people arrive around 1:00 if they want to get close to the stage and maybe get camera time.
But you know, most campaigns have the beautiful people or minorities in the pictures.  People like myself, older, fat, gray haired, hit with an ugly stick and a face made for radio would not be allowed close to Obama or Romney.
They are expecting a crowd of about 3000 people while there over 2 million people in the Las Vegas Valley.  Maybe people are tired of political rallies?
There will hundreds of cops helping out, with the CCSD police having about 65 cops out there, most on overtime and the district, which has a huge budget deficit, will be forced to eat the costs.  I wonder how many teachers will be laid off just because of this one visit?
Parking will be at a premium- most people will have to park on the streets in the surrounding neighborhoods.
I am taking the family to the rally and will report the accurate facts of the rally- not the ones given by the media.  That is, if I am allowed to attend, since I am no friend of Obama and the coat tailing Democrats.
But unlike some liberals, i am not going to disrupt or heckle the participants, but treat the opposition with respect.

Aren't Obama Voters Proud Of This Obama Supporter

Typical inner city Obama voter?

So, my liberal friends, are you proud that this person is on your side? And to my conservative friends, this person is cancelling out a conservative voter, if she gets off her fat butt to vote. This is why you need to get other conservative voters out to vote so we cancel this person's vote.

If This Happens, Fremont Street Will Be Dead

From the Las Vegas Sun:

The owner of Flightlinez took a risk two years ago when he brought zip lines to Fremont Street.
Downtown had not yet undergone its renaissance, the nearby Neonopolis was virtually empty of tenants, and casinos dominated the Fremont Street Experience.
Today, the attraction is a soaring success. In fact, it lures so many riders and is so profitable that the Fremont Street Experience itself is reportedly considering taking it over.
Ian Green, founder of Greenheart LLC, which runs Flightlinez, recently told VEGAS INC he is concerned that the Fremont Street Experience’s board of directors is developing plans that would eliminate his company as the operator of the attraction.
Tom Bruny, a spokesman for the Fremont Street Experience’s board, said it is in negotiations with Flightlinez. He would not elaborate further on plans....
Now, Green said, he is hearing that the Fremont Street Experience board wants to build an $11 million structure and run the attraction itself.
“We are feeling somewhat at risk,” Green said. “We want to continue to grow in Vegas, just like we have in Boulder City.”
Bruny wouldn’t disclose plans, saying only that the Fremont Street Experience will make an announcement when details are finalized.
Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, who in June signed a proclamation for Flightlinez Day to honor the company’s contributions to local nonprofit groups, said she’s supportive of Flightlinez’s efforts but added that the Fremont Street Experience board should be the decision-maker in the process.
“They’ve done a great job,” Goodman said of Green’s team. “They’ve made some great contributions to our local charities, and they’ve brought a lot of young people into downtown. But the Fremont Street board, which is representative of the downtown properties, is ultimately responsible for what happens there.”  http://www.vegasinc.com/news/2012/sep/27/downtown-zip-line-operator-fears-fremont-street-ex/
If Fremont St. brings in another Zip Line operator or Fremont Street takes over the Zip Line, you will no one else coming to Fremont Street to do business.  No one is going to take the risk of putting money out and then have robbed by the people that run fremont Street.
Further, Mayor Carolyn Goodman ought to be very forceful in this matter because the City of Las Vegas has spent a lot of money to support Fremont Street in infrastructure and trying to lure businesses there.
So, I hope the people who run Fremont Street come to their senses, get over their greed and let Flightlinez operate as they have in the past 2 years.

Thugs Get $30,000 For Being Peppered Spray

Sign me up- I'll take $30,000 to be peppered sprayed 1 time.
From the L.A. Times: The University of California will pay damages of $30,000 to each of the 21 UC Davis students and alumni who were pepper-sprayed by campus police during an otherwise peaceful protest 10 months ago, the university system announced Wednesday.
The agreement, which must still be approved in federal court, also calls for UC to pay a total of $250,000 to the plaintiffs' attorneys. It also sets aside a maximum of $100,000 to pay up to $20,000 to any other individuals who join the class-action lawsuit by proving they were either arrested or directly pepper-sprayed, a university statement said.
A video released online, showing an officer spraying seated students directly in their faces at close range during a Nov. 18 Occupy rally, triggered national outrage.
The preliminary settlement, which was approved by the UC regents in a closed-door meeting this month, will be paid through the UC's self-insurance program, which officials said has about $600 million in reserves.
The settlement also calls for UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi to write a formal apology to each of the students and alumni who were pepper-sprayed or arrested.
The plaintiffs were represented by the American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California.  http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-uc-davis-settle-20120927,0,2552484.story
Just another reason why California is going down the tubes in a hand basket.  These thugs had the cop trapped in a circle and they refused to let him to leave.  The cop did nothing wrong, but the idiots at U.C. Berkley (is there a sane person in Berkley?) did an Obama and bowed down and begged for forgiveness.
Just another reason why California should be wiped off the face of the Earth.

More Voter Fraud

From Orlando Sentinel:
Fifteen voters in Central Florida were among the names of 198 noncitizens illegally registered to vote, according to a new list released by the Florida Department of State.
The state's final list – initially said to total 207 -- culminates a tumultuous five-month process. The state started with 2,600 suspected noncitizen-voter names and went through months of lawsuits and charges that the process was politically motivated and rife with errors.
According to the state's voter-registration database, only 38 of the 198 people on the new list ever voted. Of those, records show, 16 voted only once.
Most of the people on the list live in South Florida, including 82 in Miami-Dade County, 23 in Broward County and 14 in Palm Beach County. There are 12 named in Orange County – though only 11 showed up in a state database of registered voters -- plus three in Osceola and one in Lake.  http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2012-09-26/news/os-voter-purge-list-released-20120926_1_voter-rolls-voter-registration-chris-cate
Almost 200 legal voters in Florida were or could be disenfranchised by these illegal illegal voters.  What liberals don't understand that people have fought and died to give us, the legal voters the right to vote but they really don't care about that.

Another Jimmy Hoffa Burial Ground?

From the New York Daily News:
The never-ending search for former Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa continues — in a Michigan driveway.
Police have decided to take soil samples from the property of a Roseville home after they received a tip from an individual who says he saw a bodied buried there about 35 years ago, the Detroit Free Press reported.
"We received information from an individual who saw something," Berlin said. "The information seemed credible, so we decided to follow up on it."
Authorities found "an anomaly" while searching the driveway with a ground scanning radar on Sept. 21, Berlin said. Authorities will return to the site Friday to take a soil sample.
Forensic anthropologists at the University of Michigan will analyze the sample to see if it contains human remains.
Hoffa, the presumed victim of a mob hit, was last seen in a restaurant parking lot in Bloomfield Township, Mich., on the afternoon of July 30, 1975. He was pronounced dead seven years later.  http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/police-dig-michigan-driveway-search-jimmy-hoffa-remains-article-1.1168983
I kind of hope they don't find Hoffa because it would take away from the mystique of Hoffa.  If Hoffa was found right after he was murdered, if he was, we would have forgotten about him a long time ago.

Obama's Chicago: Public Employee Pensions Going Belly Up

This is President Obama's Chicago: One of Mayor Rahm Emanuel's top aides privately briefed aldermen on the city's pension woes Wednesday as the mayor's closest City Council ally prepared for hearings that will put city retirement fund officials in the hot seat.
Chief Financial Officer Lois Scott reminded council members that absent significant changes to pension plans, the city will be forced to drastically cut services, raise taxes or do both to close a funding gap that could reach $700 million in just a few years, aldermen said.
It wasn't the first time the council had been told about the city's looming financial cliff, but the latest warning comes as the Workforce Development and Audit Committee led by Ald. Patrick O'Connor, 40th, is preparing for a Monday hearing on pensions.
O'Connor has set aside six hours for aldermen to question top officials from five city pension funds about the depth of the problem. The pension leaders also will be asked to offer potential solutions.
The goal of the briefings is to bring aldermen up to speed before the hearing and in advance of the Illinois General Assembly's fall session in late November, said Emanuel spokeswoman Sarah Hamilton. Lawmakers are looking to fix the state's woefully underfunded pension system, but the city also needs changes from Springfield to repair its retirement funds. Monday's hearing serves to publicly highlight the issue.
"Unfortunately, we have seen very little progress in Springfield on adopting pension reform," said Laurence Msall, president of the nonpartisan Civic Federation budget watchdog group that has long advocated for pension changeshttp://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/ct-met-chicago-emanuel-pensions-0927-20120927,0,6433883.story
Chicago is a union town and the public employees are paid very, very well and their pensions are extremely generous, both in amount and the lax rules governing public employee pensions where people who only work a few years and get hundreds of thousands of dollars a year from the pension fund.
These are a sign of things to come across the country- pensions that are totally underfunded, and so they either have to change, lay off current employees or tax the taxpayers to death.
Obama's Chicago: coming to a government agency near you.

Argument For Yucca Mountain

From the Pahrump Valley Times: As of July 2012, Nevada has the highest unemployment rate in the nation. At 12 percent, it is more than a percentage point above the next highest, Rhode Island, at 10.8 percent. Coming in at 3 percent, North Dakota has the lowest rate, due in part to its energy boom. Sadly, Nevada also has among the lowest-rated schools in the nation — dead last by some measures, behind even Mississippi, the perennial contender for that dubious honor.
How did this happen? How did Nevada get itself into an economic and educational hole that will not be easy to climb out of?
In some significant measure, I believe it is due to poor leadership; notably, that of former Gov. Richard Bryan and current U.S. Sen. Harry Reid.
If these two gentlemen, among others, had played their cards wisely over the last 30 years, Nevada, at a bare minimum, would be the home of a world-class, multi-billion-dollar nuclear/medical research facility employing, according to former U.S. Energy Department Secretary Paul Herrington (under President Ronald Reagan), more Nobel Prize winners than any institution on earth. The Reagan Administration made this offer to Nevada in the mid-1980s if the state would accept the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Repository.
Moreover, if Nevada’s leaders had played it smart, the state might now also be the home of the multi-billion-dollar superconductor/supercollider, along with a super train between Las Vegas and Los Angeles (not Victorville), that were offered in exchange for acceptance of Yucca Mountain.
As it turned out, a less-energetic version of the big supercollider ended up being built in Europe and the Swiss and French are getting all the wealth and scientific prestige Nevada could have had. Pitifully, the super train is now a pipe dream.
These high-tech enterprises, especially the medical research facility and superconductor/supercollider, would have catapulted Nevada almost overnight to world-class status in high technology research and development. Moreover, they would have attracted other leading-edge technology endeavors to Nevada. Yucca Mountain would have seeded advanced research and development into nuclear power, such as transmutation of nuclear waste and new types of reactors. (See Llewellyn King’s column in the Las Vegas Sun, September 15, 2012, for more on new reactors.)
Up to now, Harry Reid and Richard Bryan have been like the Roman Horatio (Horatius) at the Tiber River bridge in the year 510, holding back the horde — in this case, the horde of twenty-first century technology.
They seem to have been saying, in effect, “Somebody’s going to prosper with spent nuclear fuel, but it ain’t gonna be Nevada.” These “No Can Do” twins are but pale reflections of our “can-do” Nye County forbearers such as Joseph and Margaret Yount, Elmer Bowman and his family in Pahrump, Jim and Belle Butler of Tonopah, and James and Martha Gally of Tybo/Hot Creek.
But that’s history. Where are we now? It could be the No-Can-Do’ers have about played out their hand. To hear Yucca Mountain opponents talk, you’d think Yucca Mountain is dead or nearly so. But there is good evidence to suggest otherwise.
  http://pvtimes.com/news/yucca-mountain-another-chance/
When Yucca was first proposed, the U.S. government promised the moon and stars to Nevada for us to take the nuclear fuel but Nevada said no and so it was forced on us.
Then, when Yucca was opened, it employed thousands upon thousands of highly paid professionals and Harry Reid and President Obama threw them out to the street to please the environmentalists and the sky is falling crowd.
Hopefully, when Reid (The Bad Mormon) leaves office in January or so and Obama is defeated, common sense will prevail and Yucca will be reopened, thousands of people employed and the technology increases and we can start safely collecting nuclear waste from different nuclear power plants.

Kurt Busch To Drive #78 Car Next Year In Sprint

Sucks to be Regan Smith
From NASCAR.com:  Kurt Busch has agreed to drive the No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet in the Sprint Cup Series in 2013, replacing Regan Smith, the 2004 Cup Series champion confirmed Monday during an appearance on SPEED's Race Hub.
Busch signed a one-year deal with the Denver, Colo.-based organization owned by Barney Visser, co-founder of the furniture company that also serves as the No. 78's primary sponsor.
"Furniture Row Racing has the commitment, talent and resources to compete at a high level in the Sprint Cup Series," Busch said. "I have watched with admiration on how this team has grown over the years, and that is why I am excited about the opportunity as I eagerly look forward to a new chapter in my racing career."
Busch has spent the 2012 Cup campaign driving for Phoenix Racing, with a best result of third coming in the road-course race in June at Sonoma. He also has posted two victories in the Nationwide Series this year, one for Phoenix in the July race at Daytona and one for his brother Kyle in April at Richmond.
Kurt and Kyle Busch have split the Nationwide schedule, sharing the No. 54 Toyota, which Kyle owns.
Kurt Busch has 24 Cup victories and a 10-year streak of at least one victory per year on the line with eight races left in the current season. He has top-10 finishes in 171 of his 427 career starts.
The move marks the second step in a comeback for Busch, who parted with Penske Racing at the end of the 2011 season after several incidents -- including an angry confrontation with an ESPN camera crew at the season finale at Homestead -- made his position there untenable.
Smith claimed his lone victory in 159 Cup starts last year at Darlington. To date, that is the only victory in 191 starts for Furniture Row Racing, which made its Cup debut in 2005http://www.nascar.com/news/120924/kubusch-to-furniture-row-in-2013/index.html
I hope Front Row has a lot of sheet metals and many engines available as they will need them for Busch as he has wrecked or blown engines in many of the races this year, that is except when he was driving for his brother.
It also appears that Phoenix racing wasn't too eager to have Busch back as there have no reports of Phoenix Racing trying to get Busch to stay.  This also will allow Phoenix racing to get a sponsor for next year, something they desperately need.
But the odd man out is Regan Smith, a good driver and nice person.  Maybe he will go to Phoenix Racing or to another team that will hire him.  He will be an excellent spokesman for any sponsor that want to get into the sport.
