Hey, I Predicted This

From Politico: A staffer for a congressional Democrat who came up short on Tuesday reports that a team of about five people stopped by their offices this morning to talk about payroll, benefits, writing a résumé, and so forth, with staffers who are now job hunting.
But one of the staffers was described as a "counselor" to help with the emotional aspect of the loss — and a section in the packet each staffer was given dealt with the stages of grief (for instance, Stage One being anger, and so on). "It was like it was about death," the staffer said. "It was bizarre." The staffer did say the portions about the benefits and résumé writing were instructive.
The teams weren't sent by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office. Two people have suggested it may have been the Clerk's Office or Human Resources.

I said this last week: http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2010/11/next-sob-story-unemployed-democratic.html

We are going to see many more articles about this subject. But grief counselors? Geeze, what a bunch of wimps.

Now That's Inflation + Garth Brooks Breaks Promise

Garth Brooks and the Wynn Hotel are going to raise his ticket prices by $110 a ticket. I guess when Brooks said he wanted tickets affordable, he was just pulling a fast one.
From the Las Vegas Sun: "Ticket prices for Garth Brooks' next 16 performances will increase by more than $100 due to an "overwhelming" demand, Wynn Las Vegas announced today.
Ticket prices will go from $143 to $253, including taxes and fees. Wynn Resorts Chairman and Chief Executive Steve Wynn said even with the price increase, he believe tickets for Brooks’ shows are still underpriced.
"My decision to raise the ticket price was a simple one. The demand for Garth was so overwhelming that it caught us by surprise. We could fill a theater many times the size of this, twice a night,” Wynn said in a statement. “When the greatest live performer of our time appears in such an intimate theater, the seats should be priced at least competitively with other great Las Vegas entertainers.”

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/nov/09/wynn-announces-100-increase-garth-brooks-ticket-pr/
But Wynn and Brooks are lying. When Books signed up, he wanted affordable ticket prices. $243 ticket prices are not affordable to the average person.
But that's the greed of Las Vegas.

I Really Tried To Like Conan O'Brien, I Really Did

Last night was Conan O'Brien's debut on TBS and I came in with an open mind. I never cared for him in the past, but I wanted to see what he would do.
I lasted through the monolouge and I had enough of him.
He just wasn't funny. But he did help me go to sleep.

Pawn Stars Review: November 8, 2010

Last week, we had some nice summer/fall weather. Today, it is like winter (for those in Las Vegas), it was about 60 with some fairly strong winds.

Tonight, it is a night of reruns.

Gov Chris Christie Schools David Gregory

Chris Christie is a no nonsense governor who doesn't pooh-pooh anything. If you ask him a question, he will answer it directly, which is very uncommon among politicians of all stripes.

Sometimes It's Not Good To Be A Food Judge

Tonight, I am watching Iron Chef America and the secret ingredients were tongue and cheek. Beef, lamb, pig and duck tongues. Halibut, beef and pork cheeks.
I wonder when they will have dog and cats as the secret ingredient.
For some reason, the regular judges are not on this show. Can't imagine why.

I Didn't Know This But...

I am watching Back To The Future III and I din't know this but ZZ Top plays in the wild west dance scene with Doc, Marty and the Bad Guys. Of course, they are the band.

Why Do The Cowboys Bothering Showing Up?

I've been watching the Packer-Cowboys game tonight and the Cowboys are getting blown out.
The Poor Sisters of Notre Dame could give the Cowboys a run for their money. Well, not really. The Poor Sisters probably have a better pass defense.

Review: Martini Time At The M Resort

The family went to the M Resort today to see the show: Martini Time with Chef Tina Martini and the show did not disappoint.
The show is a cooking show, but not like most cooking shows you see on prime time TV- no competitions and the show was educational.
Chef Tina is a very energetic Chef who also is extremely knowledgeable about food, what food is good for you and how to make good food.
Today, the topic was blueberries and dumplings. First, we had a Mojito blueberry drink followed by a blueberry compote with dumplings followed by butternut squash/baked potato dumplings. All was very good. She included the audience in the show and my son was lucky enough to go on stage with her.
After the show, you get to go the best Buffet restaurant in Las Vegas, at the M, and you don't have to stand in line, as you eat in the studio. The price of the buffet is included in the price of the buffet. The best time to go is on the weekend, when the buffet price is the highest.

Washington Examiner: Harry Reid Not Above The Law

From The Washington Examiner:
Most observers attributed the phenomenal success of Reid's last-ditch comeback to the Nevada Democratic Party's highly polished get-out-the-vote "ground game." But an internal e-mail from a Reid campaign operative to a Harrah's executive strongly suggests the Reid ground game depended at least in part on breaking the law.
As former Federal Election Commissioner Hans A. von Spakovsky explained Friday in The Examiner, federal law makes it illegal for officials with a Senate campaign to coordinate with corporate or union officials: "Both the Reid campaign and Harrah's may have violated federal campaign finance law that prohibits in-kind corporate and union contributions to, and coordination with, political campaigns. Corporations and unions may spend money to run ads in support of or opposing a candidate, but they are not allowed to make direct or in-kind contributions to federal candidates. Federal criminal law also prohibits intimidation and coercion of a person exercising his or her right to vote (or not to vote)."
According to the e-mail, which was first made public by National Review Online's Elizabeth Crum, the Reid staffer pleaded with Marybel Batjer, Harrah's vice president for government relations, to do everything possible to get the firm's thousands of employees and their families in Nevada's largest county to the polls to vote for the Senate majority leader, including putting a "headlock" on recalcitrant supervisors "to get them to follow through." In response, Batjer instructed her fellow Harrah's executives that they were to "do whatever we need to do to get the supervisors to know that there is NOTHING more important than to get employees out to vote. Waking up to a defeat of Harry Reid Nov 3rd will be devastating for our industry's future."
It is clear that the pro-Reid effort by Harrah's executive met with some level of resistance within the company, as one of the e-mails obtained by Crum referred to problems encountered by the Reid backers with midlevel supervisors in the company's culinary department. "They simply are not cooperating and listening with upper management" in the companywide get-out-the-Reid vote campaign, a Harrah's executive complained in one of the e-mails. Because intimidation and coercion were apparently involved, this matter requires the attention of the Department of Justice's Public Integrity Section. Attorney General Eric Holder can be sure that the House Judiciary Committee will be closely watching his actions on this matter.
Read more at the Washington Examiner: http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/Harry-Reid-should-not-be-above-the-law-1471102-106799933.html#ixzz14eE0acBx

I am not going to be a cry baby about the election- Reid won, but in the end, he lost. He is going to be nothing but a neutered dog looking to make babies- he is not going to be able to do anything in the Senate.
First, he needs the GOP House's help, which won't be easy. In addition to that, there will be about 21 Democratic Senators who are for re-election in 2012 and they are going to stay as far away as from Reid and Obama, unless they are in a really safe seat. So, he won't get much help in the Senate, especially with 6 new GOP Senators.
Further, the GOP has won many State houses and governorships, which will help in redistricting. And it won't help Harry Reid one bit.
So, yes, Harry Reid won, but the GOP took the big prize home and Reid will be useless to Nevada and to the U.S. And that is not a bad thing.

WWE Comes To NASCAR

About a 1/2 hour ago, just as a caution came out, Jeff Burton turned Jeff Gordon into the wall, killing both cars.
After the drivers got out of their car, Jeff Gordon attacked Jeff Burton and they got into a fight- it wasn't much of a fight, mind you, but for NASCAR, it will be one of the highlights of the year.
A couple of weeks, Gordon got a sponsorship from AARP. If Gordon keeps up the fighting, maybe he will get a sponsorship from the WWE.

Another interesting during the race, Jimmy Johnson's pit crew was benched and replaced by Jeff Gordon's crew, who had some faster pit times today.
Denny Hamlin wins and Matt Kenseth was second. Hamlin takes the points lead.
NASCAR- gotta love it.

Steve Martin: Banjo Player

Steve Martin apparently has been making a comeback in banjo playing. I saw him last night on David Letterman and tonight, he was on Austin City Limits. He was on both shows, not for his comedy but for his banjo playing. He's still funny and a very good banjo player, as seen in this video:

And yes, this the first time in about 3 years I have watched David Letterman and Austin City Limits.

About That Global Warming/Climate Change Crapoola:

If global warming/climate change is such an emergency and we all should take drastic steps to reduce our carbon use, why is President Obama and his entourage taking 9 jet planes to India?
In 10 days, President Obama will have more pollutants/CO2 than I would have used in my life time and probably my kids and my eventual grandkids will have ever used.
Even if the closure is for six minutes, one has to take into account the sheer number of aircraft in Obamas entourage, said an airport official. With nine aircraft, helicopters and planes, scheduled to land on Nov 6, air-space closure may last for at least 54 minutes. Read more: Air Force One to hit schedules for a six - The Times of India http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/Air-Force-One-to-hit-schedules-for-a-six/articleshow/6874304.cms#ixzz14YzP8trx

Tell you what, if President Obama reduces his carbon foot print by say 75% (which will still give him plenty of time to travel) I'll start to reduce mine.
Otherwise, President Obama, shut your damn mouth about global warming/climate change. You are just a fool and a hypocrite.

Terrible Headline Award Of The Day

From the LVRJ:
Link headline 1: Toddler dies after being run over by truck on Friday 6:29 p.m.
Link Headline 2: One dead, one critical after truck crash 1:42 p.m.

Sandwiched in between the to headlines: Rebels road-killed by BYU, 55-7 5:53 p.m.

Someone at the LVRJ is either very incompetent, uncaring or a very mean person.

However, in the Las Vegas Sun, they also have their terrible choice words in an article today. In a story about how student at a local high school passed away this week from leukemia, the Sun had this to say: David Overstreet met David “Huggy” Garcia when Overstreet was a freshman at football spring training. Garcia was a year older, but he instantly became a friend, Overstreet said.
What really struck Overstreet about Garcia, however, was how he always smiled and looked on the bright side of things — even during the most grueling drills.
“We did...really long, exhausting exercises,” Overstreet said. “He would always smile about it. I’m like, ‘How do you do that?’ And he’s like, ‘I don’t know.’”
It quickly became evident Friday night that Garcia — “Huggy” or “Huggy Bear” as he was known to virtually everyone —
was best known for that trait that kept him smiling: His undying optimism.
It was made loud and clear at a memorial for Garcia at Green Valley High School on Friday night.
Garcia, 18, died Monday after a yearlong battle with leukemia.

Pilot Having A String Of Bad Luck

Earlier this week, a Qantas jumbo jet had it's engine explode in mid-air soon after taking off from Singapore.
Today, the same pilot was at the helm of a smaller jet, a 747, when minutes after taking off from Singapore, it developed engine problems again and had to return to the airport.
From AOL News: The hero pilot and cabin crew involved in a dramatic jet failure this week were forced to return to Singapore again yesterday after a second Qantas flight was hit by engine trouble.
Passengers screamed and air crew shouted for them to adopt the crash position after flames or sparks were seen coming from the engine of a Qantas flight leaving Singapore airport with 431 passengers and crew onboard.
After calmly landing an A380 superjet that experienced a dramatic mid-air explosion earlier this week, Captain Richard de Crespigny again failed to travel to Sydney yesterday, as he and his cabin crew witnessed a second Qantas explosion, this time as passengers.

The 747 jumbo ran into trouble 20 minutes after take-off on its way to Sydney when passengers heard a loud bang and saw flames or sparks coming from an engine.
QF6 immediately returned to Singapore airport and made a safe landing.
Captain de Crespigny and the cabin crew from the superjet involved in the first engine failure were travelling as passengers on the 747 aircraft, making their second attempt to fly to Sydney.
It is believed that some of the passengers from the superjet were also on the jumbo jet.
Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1327147/Passengers-scream-second-Qantas-jet-engine-trouble.html#ixzz14Yn8eh1c
I think if they took a ship back to Sydney, it would have been faster for the pilot, crew and some passengers.
I am sure the pilot and crew are highly skilled and this is just a bunch of bad luck, but I would kind of scared to be flying with him right about now.

One Positive Thing For Washington D.C.

Now that the GOP took over the House, there will be or at least should be, a push to reinstate the voucher program in Washington D.C. by Republicans.
On June 11, 1963, George Wallace stood in a school doorway to prevent black children from attending an all white school.
Similarly, Democrats stood in the Washington D.C. school doorways and threw out the voucher program for poor, mostly minority students in 2010, denying those children a chance to attend the school of their choice.
Now, the GOP has the chance to restart the program in Washington D.C.. While the Washington D.C. schools have made some improvements under the direction of Michelle Rhee, she is now gone and the teacher's union candidate is now in the Mayor's office, who will hire the new superintendent.
So, here is one of the first things the GOP can do when they get to Washington- reinstate the voucher program for the students in the Washington D.C. School District. Time to act like conservatives.

Next Sob Story: Unemployed Democratic Staffers

In a couple of months, there will be numerous stories about how many Democratic staffers are going to lose their jobs when the GOP takes over. I predict the Sun will run a story about how Dina Titus's staffers will be looking for a new job.
When the Dem's lost seats under Bill Clinton, every where you swung a dead cat, there was a story about how sad it was that Democrat staffers lost their jobs when the GOP came to power. But when the GOP lost power under Bush, there were hardly any stories about GOP staffers losing their jobs.
So, now that the GOP took over about 680 political seats and that means that there are 680 Democratic losers as well and many of them had office staff. And now they all will be out of work, unless they are lucky enough to get hired on by the GOP, which most won't.
So, in the next few weeks, watch for the sob stories of these staffers who will soon be out of work. Bad for them but great for the newly employed GOP staffers.

Hey Dirty Harry, Why Didn't You Think Of This?

From Fox News: ARLINGTON, Va. -- "FBI investigators have a simple message for the shooter who has hit the Pentagon, a Marine museum and two military recruiting stations in the Washington area: Call us.
Authorities want to talk to the person they believe may be an ex-Marine who has a gripe with the corps. The museum near the Marine Corps Base in Quantico was struck twice and one of the recruiting stations hit was a Marine outfit."

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/11/05/fbi-anti-military-shooter/?test=latestnews
Gee, if the shooter wanted to talk, I'd think they would have called already and told the FBI why they are doing this.
But I guess this is how the Obama administration wants to handle criminals.
Somehow, I think Dirty Harry Callahan would be disappointed.

Justice Department Reviewing Harry Reid Voter Intimidation Allegation

The Department of Justice is going to review a complaint of voter intimidation against Harry Reid. I have wrote about it previously and the complaint involves Harrahs properties.
From Fox News: "The complaint came after Reid prevailed Tuesday over Angle in their high-profile, bruising election, allowing Reid to remain as Senate majority leader.
Hans A. von Spakovsky, a senior legal fellow at
the Heritage Foundation and a former Federal Election Commission member and Justice Department official, told FoxNews.com that there is enough evidence in the e-mails to warrant opening an investigation because they suggest that both the Reid campaign and Harrah's may have violated federal campaign finance law that "prohibits in-kind corporate and union contributions to, and coordination with, political campaigns."
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/11/05/justice-dept-pressure-probe-allegations-voter-intimidation-reids-campaign/
Ywo things come to mind. Harrahs and their union thugs went all out for Harry but not for Rory. Makes you wonder how Thanksgiving Dinner will be at the Reid's Ritz-Carlton home.
Rory: Umm, dad, why couldn't send some of that union support my way.
Dad: Umm, Rory, you're weren't worthy.
Rory:@#@%$@^ you, Dad.
(Actually, I think Rory has more class than that, as I have said before)
And second, Harrah's lost a bunch of money last quarter: Harrah's Entertainment Inc. of Las Vegas today posted a third quarter loss as costs expanded and customers spent less on the Las Vegas Strip and around the country.
The company lost $164.8 million in the quarter, a turnaround from 2009's third quarter when Harrah's lost $1.7 billion.
Both quarters included charges against earnings for impairment of intangible assets. The charges were $44 million in the 2010 quarter and $1.328 billion in the 2009 quarter.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/nov/05/harrahs-loses-1648-million-third-quarter/
Awww, isn't that too bad.
Boycott the SEIU union thugs and management at all of Harrahs properties.
Bally's
Caeser's Palace
Harrahs Las Vegas
Harrahs Laughlin
Bills Gambling Hall
Flamingo
Imperial Palace
Planet Hollywood
O'Sheas
Paris
Rio

If Harrah's wants to piss off conservatives by not only supporting Sen, Reid, but forcing employees, by intimidation by SEIU union thugs with the help of management, to vote for Reid, then conservatives need not come to their properties. There are many other casino properties in Las Vegas that did not resort to intimidation by union thugs and management in their support of Harry Reid.

LVRJ Norm: Just A Bit Outside!

From the LVRJ's Norm today: Correction: Danny Gans' home recently sold for $3.75 million, not the $9 million reported here. The latter number was the cost of construction and land.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/anderson-knew-how-to-tell-a-tale-106751573.html
Hey's what's a $5,250,000 mistake. As Harry Doyle says in "Major League" "Just a bit outside".

Obama Hood: Tax The Rich And The Poor

h/t Michelle Malkin

How Bad Was It For Democrats? Even Scandal Ridden Nixon Had More Success Than Obama

From Hot Air: Who could have suspected that Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi would spark a national rejection of their party that outdid Watergate? In the wake of the resignation of Richard Nixon three months earlier, Democrats won 628 seats in state legislatures while flipping 49 seats in the US House and three seats in the US Senate in those 1974 midterm elections. National Journal reports today that the GOP wreaked “devastation” on Democrats in this cycle by netting not just the 60+ seats in the US House and six US Senate, but also 680 seats in state legislatures across the country.
Obama has been called Nixonian before, but never in this context. When he charged to victory in 2008, Democrats thought they had unlocked the secret of marrying a progressive to the broad center of American politics. Instead, his radical agenda has alienated the center and leaves Democrats with a sharply reduced national base for their future.
Earlier today, I mentioned that a second “wave” election in 2012 would primarily affect the Senate (if it comes at all), as Democrats have lost most of the vulnerable seats in the House already. However, this data shows two more dangers to the Democrats, and not just in 2012. First, redistricting will change the nature of more than a few of the “safe” Democratic seats across the middle of the country, if not on the West Coast and northeastern Atlantic seaboard. Republicans will strengthen their own incumbents and look to weaken the others over the next year.

http://hotair.com/archives/2010/11/04/gop-wins-all-time-high-in-state-legislative-seats/
Couldn't even beat Nixon when he was at his worst. Heh.

Stupidist Suspension Of The Year Award

Keith Olbermann of MSNBC was suspended today without pay for donating his money to some Democrats. What, MSNBC honestly thought Olbermann was independent?
From AOL news: MSNBC liberal talk show host Keith Olbermann has been suspended indefinitely without pay from MSNBC after his boss learned he had violated newsroom policies by giving campaign contributions to three Democratic candidates for Congress...
In a terse statement today, MSNBC TV President Phil Griffin said, "I became aware of Keith's political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay."The news that the liberal flamethrower had thrown cash to three congressional candidates was first reported by Politico.
http://www.aolnews.com/politics/article/msnbc-suspends-keith-olbermann-for-giving-political-donations/19705123

Ahh, yes, Keith, you are an unhinged lefty:

But, MSNBC, you know Olbermann is a lefty, don't pretend that he is not, And MSNBC, please don't pretend you are holier than thou- you're not.
Just plain stupid, MSNBC.

Mark Levin's Great Point

From Mark Levin: As for compromise, the victor doesn't seek compromise, the loser does. To think otherwise is to switch places. Furthermore, compromise per se is irrational. You only compromise depending on what the issue is, and what the compromise means for the broader picture.

The Democrats have far more Senate seats up in two years. The Republicans control much more redistricting after tonight. And this will be spun as a lost.

Would you rather be us today or them?

http://www.facebook.com/notes/mark-levin/the-conservative-movement-is-back-growing/449665620945

Yeah, what he said.

BTW, I'm still pissed KXNT put Levin at 9:00 and had him replaced by Alan Stock. Levin is far more entertaining than the Sock puppet in a Hawaiian shirt..

I Love This Global Warming

Today, we got to about 83 degrees in Las Vegas, which is close to being a record high for Las Vegas on today's date.
I love Global Warming!!

(for the record, I still think global warming is a fraud, but if it was true, we can have 80 degree days all year long, as far as I am concerned)

It's Good To be The King

No that seeing India at $200,000,000 a day wasn't enough for President, now he has commandeered 34 Navy vessels, including an aircraft carrier: Communications set-up and nuclear button and majority of the White House staff will be in India accompanying the President on this three-day visit that will cover Mumbai and Delhi. He will also be protected by a fleet of 34 warships, including an aircraft carrier, which will patrol the sea lanes off the Mumbai coast during his two-day stay there beginning Saturday. The measure has been taken as Mumbai attack in 2008 took place from the sea. Read more at: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/34-warships-sent-from-us-for-obama-visit-64459?cp
Does Obama even care at the cost of this trip? Of course not, it's all about him. If it costs that much and take away from the Navy 34 ships, perhaps he should not be going to India. Hell, at $200,000,000 a day, it would be cheaper to bring the important people of India here. And do you think Obama will visit the famous India slums? Yeah, didn't think so.
Let's see, $200,000,000 a day can help a lot of people, especially the unemployed here in the U.S. and the poor in India. What a commercial this will be for the GOP in 2012.

Harry Reid Entourage: 8 Security Members

Harry Reid must think he is the president or something. Now, Harry Reid's security team is up to 8 people. From Norm of the LVRJ: "Under the watch of a nearby eight-member security team, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, dining at Vintner Grill on Wednesday night with wife Landra and another couple. Reid ordered gnocchi romano with spiced eggplant caponata"
http://www.lvrj.com/news/gop-s-young-gun-rubio-lived-in-lv-106674913.html
I'm sorry, but Harry Reid does not need a 8 member security team when he goes out to dinner. He is not the president, but Reid is acting like royalty.
But, hey, when you live at the Ritz-Carlton in D.C., you really have no clue about how the world works.
I don't begrudge Reid some security, but 8 security team members while he eats is just showing off.

R.I.P. Sparky Anderson

Sparky Anderson, one of the best managers ever in Major League Baseball, passed away from complications of dementia.
He won 3 World Series titles and was an all around good guy. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5764168

The funniest story I heard about Sparky Anderson was there was one umpire in the big leagues who always refused to argue with Anderson, saying he would not argue with a guy named "Sparky".
Dementia is such a horrid disease. You take a brilliant mind and it literally turns it into mush. I used to work in nursing homes, working with people with Alzheimer's and dementia. You would have educators, lawyers, doctors etc in the nursing home suffering from dementia and their minds were that of a 1 year old. What a terrible disease for the patient and the family of the patients. What was even sadder was when the family would abandon the patient.

So, rest in peace Sparky Anderson, you deserve the rest and I hope you manage in the biggest league of all.

Good Bye Bill Raggio: Don't Let The Door Hit You In The Butt On Your Way Out

One of the biggest RINO's, the one with the big horns, Bill Raggio was booted out of the Nevada state senate minority leader, after the RINO supported Harry Reid.
According to the Sun, Raggio said: Raggio said he withdrew his name from consideration because he didn’t want to create discord in the caucus.
“There are a lot of agitators like Chuck Muth in the world and Tea Partiers who think I committed a mortal sin because I didn’t support Angle,” he said. “I didn’t want that to be part of the process.” http://www.lasvegassun.com/blogs/damon-political-report/2010/nov/04/raggio-calls-his-ouster-pyrrhic-victory-gop-agitat/

Umm, Sen. RINO, it's one thing if you didn't support Sharron Angle- that could be understandable, but you choose to endorse Harry Reid as well.
Good bye, Sen. Raggio and you are one of the weakest links of the GOP.

What Will Happen In The Lame Duck Session?

So, now that there will about 70 soon to be unemployed Democrats in Congress when they come back for a few weeks in the lame duck session. What will happen?
Will the defeated Democrats show their vindictiveness and screw the U.S taxpayers and their constituents? For instance will they just say screw you and let the Bush tax cuts expire for everyone? My hunch says yes.
Will they pass a massive funding measure, including a ton of pork, maybe rewarding their supporters? Of course.
There are two ethics complaints that are supposed to go to trial, will they hold the trial? Probably, because their prospects in a GOP run House will make an acquittal unlikely. Look for a plea agreement for Charlie Rangle and Maxine Waters.
Will the Democrats pass several social agenda laws? If I were James, I would be hoping and praying that the Dem's will pass a gay marriage bill. The next few weeks will be their best chance, ever.
Will the Dem's pass cap and trade? Possible. How about an abortion bill?
Whatever happens, the Senate Republicans need to stay strong and united and wait for the new members to be sworn in before they tackle anything controversial.

GoP Takes The House But Took Over The State's As Well

From Red State: But consider that as you wake up this morning the Republican Party has picked up more seats in the House of Representatives than at any time since 1948 — that is more than sixty seats. Ike Skelton, Class of 1976, is gone. Many, many other Democrats are gone.
That, in and of itself, is significant. But that’s not the half of it. The real story is the underreported story of the night — the Republican pick ups at the state level.
There will be 18 states subject to reapportionment. The Republicans will control a majority of those — at least ten and maybe a dozen or more. More significantly, a minimum of seventeen state legislative houses have flipped to the Republican Party.
The North Carolina Legislature is Republican for the first time since 1870. Yes, that is Eighteen Seventy.
The Alabama Legislature is Republican for the first time since 1876.
For those saying this is nothing because it is the South, consider these:
The entire Wisconsin and New Hampshire legislatures have flipped to the GOP by wide margins.
The State Houses in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Montana, and Colorado flipped to the GOP.
The Maine and Minnesota Senates flipped to the GOP.
The Texas and Tennessee Houses went from virtually tied to massive Republican gains. The gains in Texas were so big that the Republicans no longer need the Democrats to get state constitutional amendments out of the state legislature.
These gains go all the way down to the municipal level across the nation. That did not happen even in 1994.

http://www.redstate.com/erick/2010/11/03/the-tsunami/

This is where the tsunami hit, it hit in the state and local elections. This is great news for redistricting, the GOP way. The effects of this election will last for at least a decade.
Now, all the GOP has to do is govern. That's the hard part.

Winners And Loser In Nevada's Elections

Here is my list of winners and losers for Nevada's elections held yesterday.
Winners: Brian Sandoval- won the governorship easily. Now, it's time to govern.
Rory Reid: Even though Rory Reid lost, I grew some respect for the man. His concession speech was classy and he did not get into the dirt like his dad. He's a lot more likable than his dad and if he chooses to run for office again, I will remember this. He's certainly not his dad.
Joe Heck: Ran a great campaign and mixed the positive message while exposing Dina Titus as a fraud and being unqualified. He will make a great representative.
Kent Davenport: Kent Davenport, of Quality Hearing Aids in Las Vegas, almost defeated Harry Reid by himself. His folksy, but hard hitting commercials against Reid probably gave Angle 50,000 votes in Clark County. He made Sharron Angle normal and Reid the devil and did it in a folksy manner. To bad he did not advertise in Washoe County, but then he paid for the commercials himself. Sharron Angle, you should have hired Kent, and you would have won by a landslide. Probably will be audited by the IRS and the FEC and then be picketed by union thugs. I look forward to hearing more commercials from Kent Davenport.
Losers:
Harry Reid: Even though he won, Harry demeaned himself and is completed indebted to the unions, CEO's and everyone that saved his sorry hide this election season. Harry has been bought and paid for for the next 6 years and it is not for mainstream Nevadans. His campaign commercials were horrendous and full of lies. Now, Reid as Senate Majority leader, will be about as effective a neutered male dog hoping he will father puppies someday. He may regret the day he sought re-election.
Sharron Angle: Could she have run a worse campaign? I doubt it. She never got back to her supporters that e-mailed her, her early campaign was pathetic, she didn't go on the rubber chicken dinner circuit and she had a terrible web site. Sh ignored bloggers that supported her. She spent her time making money, but ignored her supporters. Her campaign was horrendous.
Local Talk Radio: They put their money on Angle and tried to support her but they failed to deliver. When Angle didn't come off well, they rotected her (Alan Stock, that means you) They tried to help, but their influence isn't that great.
Pollesters: The pollsters had Reid down by 4 and Heck up by 10 just before the election and Reid won by 5 and Heck won by 1. Not a very good thing to put on your resume.
Scott Ashijan: Harry Reid's Nevada pet. So, how did he pay for his mailer sent out just before the election? Come on, Scott, time to fess up.
Harrah's and MGM: The unions and management whored themselves to Harry Reid, but said the hell with Rory. They used union thuggery to get their employees to vote and it was with managements support. Boycott MGM and Harrah's properties for being whores.
Dina Titus: Just ran a despicable campaign against Joe Heck, fraught with lies, lies so bad that even the Las Vegas disowned her on several occasions.
President Obama: Spent a lot of political capitol helping Harry but it did not transfer to Rory and Titus. Cost local business about a $1 million for the three times he came to Las Vegas and was snubbed by Oscar Goodman. He's made a lot of people mad in Nevada and I doubt he will win Nevada in 2012, especially if the economy does not improve very much by November, 2012.
Jon Ralston: Kudo's for predicting the election but he whored himself to the Reids. Ralston showed his racism in his battle against Brian Sandoval. He lied about Scott Ashijan and cited false polls to prop up Reid when Reid was way behind in the polls. Though he claims he is unbiased. he is an uber liberal and a shill for the Reid's.
But the worst of the worst is the Las Vegas Sun: Just complete whores for liberals and they didn't hide it. The supposed "news" articles were just opinion pieces. Delen Goldberg, Annjeanette Damon and Jon Ralston were just pathetic when they wrote "news" articles. These three are just journalism school dropouts who could not get jobs in the regular press. Brian Greenspun sunk to a new low, calling for civility during the political season but then called people who voted against liberals and especially, Harry Reid, stupid. Yep, that's civility for you. Brian Greenspun, I think your mom and dad would be deeply ashamed of you, if they were still alive.

So, these are my picks for the winners and losers in the Nevada elections. Anyone have anybody else?

Breaking News: Joe Hecks Defeats Dina Titus!!

The Las Vegas Sun has called the House of Representatives, District 3 for Dr. Joe Heck!!
This is good news as I have always thought Heck was the best candidate and that Dina Titus was one of the most sleaziest politicians out there, especially since she didn't have the resume that Heck did.
Congratulations to Rep-elect Dr. Joe Heck.

Reid Wins, Heck Still Leads Pollsters Suck In Nevada

Harry Reid has been declared the winner, by defeating Sharron angle by around 40,000 votes. This surprises me about the large margin of victory. Harry will be pretty well neutered when goes back to Congress. He no longer will have a veto proof majority and in fact, the majority will be a coalition of blue dog Democrats and moderate to conservative Republicans. He may not even be majority leader.

Joe Heck is leading by about 2000 votes, or by about 1%. I still think he is still going to win.
Pollsters. before the election had Reid losing by about 4% and Heck leading by 10%. Obviously, the pollsters need to refine their skills here in Nevada.
Another sign of good news, voters will still be electing judges, as Question 1 went down in flames.

update- The Sun just called the race for Heck.

Apparently, we will not be getting an appeals court.

Brian Sandoval defeated Rory Reid for governor. But I will give credit to Rory Reid as he had the nicest speech of the night as he asked the media and members of his party to leave the Sandoval family alone, especially the family. That was a very classy act by Reid.
The GOP picked up at least 60 seats in the House of Representatives and six seats in the Senate.
Stupidest comment of the night: “Voters sent a message that change has not happened fast enough,” said Tim Kaine, chairman of the Democratic National Committee"
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/03/us/politics/03elect.html?_r=1
Umm, yeah, that' s the message voters sent by sending the GOP to lead. Tim Kaine must have been drinking some very strong Kool Aide.

Back in my home state of Wisconsin, the GOP took over two seat that have been in Democrats hands forever (at least 25 years) "Snarlin" Marlin Schneider of Wisconsin Rapids lost to Scott Krug. Schneider was the longest serving Assemblyman in the history of Wisconsin and he went down in flames.

David Obey's seat went to GOP Scott Duffy, who beat the liberal candidate, Julie Lassa. Obey was in the House for about 25 or more years, but he saw the tidal wave coming and retired. Duffy was a former reality star who was the DA up in Ashland, I believe.
In Wisconsin, the State really went Red as they picked up 2 House seats from the Dem's and the governor. They also took back the Senate and the Assembly. Too bad that didn't happen in Nevada.

In Alaska, Lisa Murkowski is waging a successful write in campaign as she leads by about 7000 votes. In second place is the GOP candidate, so that seat will remain Republican, no matter who wins. However, we will not know who wins this race any time soon.
http://www.adn.com/2010/11/02/1532963/senate-drama-could-just-be-beginning.html

In California, the voters decided to commit political suicide and elected Jerry Brown as governor. My guess is that Nevada will be getting a lot of new businesses from California as many companies will decide to leave California because of upcoming huge tax increases and more regulation. The first thing Brian Sandoval ought to do is start sending letters and making commercials in an attempt to steal companies from California and bring them to Nevada. They can start with the trucking industry.
So, not a bad night for the GOP. A little disappointed that Harry Reid is still in office, but he will be like a neutered dog because he will not have the numbers on his side and he will have to work with a GOP majority in the House.

Still A Tight Race For Nevada Senate Race

Early returns are coming in from Clark County, which is heavily Democrat and Harry Reid leads Sharron Angle 213,962-182, 963. This is about a 31,000 vote lead. However, the northern part of the state has not reported and Angle has a huge advantage there.
Joe Heck has about a 400 vote lead.
Dean Heller and Shelly Berkley have been re-elected to their seats.
Rory Reid is losing in the governor race, 52-43%, so I think that race will be called soon for Sandoval.

GOP Takes The House

It has been called: Nancy is no longer Speaker of the House. Good bye and good riddance.
The senate is still too close to call, though there have been some upsets. Ron Johnson defeated supposed maverick, Russ Feingold. The unschooled Scott Walker won the governor's race in Wisconsin. In fact, right now, there is only one sure Democrat House of Rep. win in Wisconsin- Gwen Moore.
Hopefully, Nevada mirrors Wisconsin- Senate win and 2 House wins. However, statewide results are being delayed because long lines in Elko. Elko and long lines? There's only about 16,000 people in the city.

Randy Moss: Complete And Total A-Hole

Randy Moss can be a good football player at wide receiver, if he wants to. As a human being, he is complete trash.
From ESPN: Randy Moss, who was waived by the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday, may have alienated some teammates when he was roundly critical of a post-practice meal in front of the local restaurant owners who catered it, Yahoo! Sports reported.
Every Friday, the Vikings invite a local establishment to cater the team's post-practice meal. Last Friday, it was a St. Paul restaurant -- a favorite of former Vikings center
Matt Birk -- that served chicken, pasta, ribs and other dishes.
While his teammates lined up to dig in, Moss lashed out, according to the report.
Moss yelled "What the [expletive]? Who ordered this crap? I wouldn't feed this to my dog," a player who witnessed the incident said, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Gus Tinucci, co-owner of Tinucci's Restaurant and Catering, which provided the spread in question, confirmed the report to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
"If [Brett] Favre would have had a ball, he would have beaned him right in the head. Favre looked at him like, 'Are you kidding me?' " Tinucci told the newspaper.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5755561
As a football player, Moss is lazy 99% of the time. As a human being, he is no better than this weeks of garbage of ours, which includes dog poop, along with our rabbit and guinea pig bedding that is full of pee and poop. And that is probably insulting the pee and poop.

Time To Boycott Harrahs And Their Properties

Harrah Casino and their properties has decided to to anything they can to help Harry Reid. Including coercion.
From National Review: The Reid campaign staffer, whose name was removed in the email Batjer sent to Harrah’s executives, said “ANYTHING” would be done to help with the company’s get out the vote effort. The staffer cited the fact that 1,100 MGM employees had already voted and indicated dissatisfaction with the turnout from Harrah’s.
The staffer told Jones, senior vice president of communications and government relations, that the Reid campaign had “connected with Culinary” and that the problem was with mid-level supervisors. “They simply are not cooperating with and listening to upper management,” wrote the staffer.
(emphasis mine)
The Reid staffer then indicated that the culinary union had money available for more busses to take Harrah’s employees to the polls. The Reid staffer suggests that Harrah’s execs “put a headlock on your supervisors to get them to follow through.”
The staffer also offered Senator Reid’s personal involvement, writing, “PLEASE… PLEASE tell me how I can help. Would it help to have the Senator call Gary and help give you the backing you need?”

http://www.nationalreview.com/battle10/251906/harrahs-bosses-put-squeeze-employees-vote-pro-reid-effort-elizabeth-crum
The Harrah's properties have decided to do anything, including harassment and coercing employees to vote for Harry Reid.
The following are Harrah's properties:
Harrahs
Rio
Flamingo
Paris
Rio
Plantet Hollywood
Ballys
Caesers

If you are a conservative, please consider visiting another property when you visit Las Vegas. There are so many places to vacation in Las Vegas, that you don't need to go to a Harrah's property.
If you value conservatism, boycott Harrah's properties.

It's Good To Be The King

From ndtv.com: Mumbai: The US would be spending a whopping $200 million (Rs. 900 crore approx) per day on President Barack Obama's visit to the city."The huge amount of around $200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit," a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said.About 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President. Several officials from the White House and US security agencies are already here for the past one week with helicopters, a ship and high-end security instruments. Read more at: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/us-to-spend-200-mn-a-day-on-obama-s-mumbai-visit-64106?cp

Call me crazy, but if it costs $200,000,000 per day, perhaps it's not worth going to that city. But then maybe after today's election, maybe Mumbai is one of the few places on earth where President Obama is welcomed with open with open arms.

Michelle Obama Stumps For Reid But Talks About Mr. Obama

From the Washington Examiner: So on election eve, Reid welcomed one of the biggest guns in the Democratic world, First Lady Michelle Obama, to give his campaign a much-needed, last-minute shot in the arm. And Mrs. Obama delivered a rousing political speech in an appearance here at Canyon Springs High School. The only problem was, it was on behalf of Barack Obama, and not the man on the ballot Tuesday.
They remembered. Every time Mrs. Obama mentioned the 2008 presidential race -- and she did it many, many times -- the audience roared with approval. Aided by a presidential-style teleprompter, she recounted the joys of election night 2008, and then the joys of inauguration day 2009, and then her husband's accomplishments, one by one.
Barack cut taxes for middle-class families, she said. Barack also cut taxes for small businesses. Barack stopped credit card companies from jacking up rates. Barack made historic investments in education. Barack increased funding for veterans' affairs. Barack invested in clean energy. Barack appointed two wonderful Supreme Court justices. And finally, Barack brought national health care to America.
It was all Barack, all the time. Reid was forced to stand by, a wan smile on his face, as Mrs. Obama sold her husband's achievements. The most Reid got was an occasional "with Harry's help," Mrs. Obama's way of reminding everyone that Reid played only a supporting role in the Barack Obama show.

It's all about Obama, no matter who he throws under the bus. Harry must know that the Obama's will throw anybody under the bus, including Harry Reid.
Today, Michelle Obama threw Harry Reid under the bus.

Funniest Commercial Today

The Democratic Party are running an advertisement today, 11/1/2010, in the LVRJ, for everyone to get vote out today, Monday. It's the banner advertisement on top of the home page of the LVRJ.
Umm, ok. Democrats, you vote on Monday and the rest of the country will vote on Tuesday, Oookkkk.
No wonder Democrats are losing.

KXNT Cuts Off Sharron Angle Interview

I was listening to the Mark Levin Show today and he was interviewing Sharron Angle just after 10:30PM on Monday and Levin was interviewing Sharron Angle. (Levin comes on at 9:00 PST here in Vegas) And a few minutes into the interview, the airwaves went dead. and they stayed dead for some time. No more Sharron Angle interview.
Being a conspiracy theorist, I would think that KXNT did it on purpose. Or that Harry Reid and his supporters bombed the transmitter location. however, I also know that KXNT also has problems with dead air at night.
So, did KXNT do it on purpose or just coincidence?

Sharron Angle Out Raises Harry Reid By $4Million

From The Federal Election reports: Sharron Angle has raised $21,470,516 for this election.
Harry Reid has raised $17,213,358 for this election. Both reports are current as of 10/13/2010.
And has our wonderful media reported this. Umm, no.
Harry has a little over a $1 million in cash on hand while Angle has over $2.6 million in cash on hand.
Sounds like Angle has the money to bring it on home.

Scott Ashijan Mailer Hits Las Vegas: How Did He Pay For It?

Scott "I Am Harry Reid's Nevada Pet" Ashijan's mailer hit the Las Vegas area in the past couple of days. It is the same mailer as Dullard Mush got last week.
So, Scott Ashijan, the indebted supposed Tea Party candidate sends out a mailer to the people of the Reno and Las Vegas area.
But what this interesting is that Ashijan has not received enough or spent enough money to have to file with the Federal Election Commission. So, where is he getting the money to pay for this thousands of dollars of campaign literature?
So, when will Scott or Harry fess up and admit Ashijan is Harry Reid's Nevada pet?
