From the Baltimore Sun: Anne Arundel County police are investigating a report that an employee in a coin shop in Glen Burnie shot and killed an intruder Tuesday morning.
Officers responded to a 6:28 a.m. call Christmas morning at Arundel County Coin Shop in the 7400 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and were met by an employee of the business, police said.
He told police that an intruder broke into the business while he was there, and during an altercation inside, the intruder was shot, police said. The intruder ran out of the building and collapsed, police said. Paramedics were called, and the man was pronounced dead, according to police.
Police identified the dead man as Byron Keith Phillips, 30, of Chester. The employee's name is not being released, and police indicated he is cooperating with police. It was not clear if the employee was an owner or manager.

The media has had a 1 way argument against guns since the Newtown tragedy but it cannot be argued that guns do save innocent people's lives.
I'm not a gun owner and never fired a gun except when I was in the Air Force, so I really don't have a dog in this fight. But I think we need to find a happy medium- which I think is impossible. I think there needs to be some training involved with every gun owner and I don't object to gun licensing. However, outlawing guns, rifles and other things that shoot bullets is also quite stupid because people will find a way to get around it. It is also true that criminals don't give a crap about gun laws and they will target areas that they know don't have guns to protect them.
But in the end, the two sides, the pro-gun and anti-gun sides will probably never get along and compromise will be difficult.

Terribles Terrible Buffet
Today, instead of cooking the Christmas goose, we decided to go don to the Strip and try the Terribles Casino buffet. We saw an advertisement of their menu and decided to try it out because the price was also right.
To say we were disappointed is a complete understatement. Several items on the menu were not available and when we asked the staff about the dessert having nuts (my daughter has a peanut/nut allergy) they couldn't because the first time we asked, the dessert person was on break and the second time we tried to ask, the dessert person had no idea what we were talking about because they didn't speak English.
We then asked for a manager but got the chef instead. When we asked if there were nuts in the desserts he said honestly, he didn't know because the desserts are shipped inform outside of Terribles and they didn't have the list of ingredients.
How can a restaurant not know what ingredients are in their food, especially where food allergies are involved.
Besides the poor food, the soda drinks tasted moldy and some of the food was cold when it was supposed to be hot.
Finally, the Buffet touts their root beer floats. However to make your root beer float, you had to use vanilla frozen yogurt. Whoever heard of using frozen yogurt to make a root beer float?
So, if you are close to the strip and in need of eating at a buffet. Don't go to the Terribles Casino buffet. It is a terrible buffet and possibly dangerous restaurant.

From the Detroit News: Taxpayers, especially businesses, will be hit with billions of dollars in new charges starting in January under provisions of the Affordable Care Act that will be ushered in with the new year.
Among the new provisions is a surtax on investment income for those earning $250,000 or more, a $2,500 cap on flexible spending accounts and a 2.3 percent excise tax on manufacturers of medical devices that has led Kalamazoo-based Stryker Corp. to slim its workforce.
The looming health taxes have taken a back seat to the expiration of the Bush-era tax cuts set to automatically increase Jan. 1 unless Congress takes action to avoid the recession-threatening "fiscal cliff." While the biggest provisions of the health care act — namely the individual mandate — won't take effect until 2014, notable tax provisions have taken hold, and some businesses say the coming wave will exacerbate an anemic business climate.
Stryker, which makes products ranging from EMS stretchers to knee replacements and surgical tools, is trimming about 1,000 employees from its global workforce of more than 20,000 in anticipation of the 2.3 percent tax on its sales of medical devices.
The company estimates it will owe $100 million in the first year, or about 20 percent of its global research and development investments.
"Stryker remains significantly concerned with the upcoming medical device excise tax and its negative impact on jobs and innovation, and will continue to work with Congress to try to repeal the tax," Stryker CEO Kevin A. Lobo said in a statement.

The gas had been cut off — and as the temperature plunged below freezing, her four kids were keeping warm by the heat of dangerous electric space heaters and a hot plate.
But Tatiana Meakens was so desperate to party Friday night that she left her young family home alone, prosecutors say.
It proved to be a fatal decision.
Meakens, 23, and her sister Brittany, 22, both hung their heads in silence in court Christmas Eve as prosecutors described how a fire caused by the hot plate at the family’s unsupervised Englewood home claimed the lives of little Javaris Davis, 2, and Jariyah Meakens, 3, early Saturday.
Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Jamie Dickler alleged that the sisters — both charged with felony child endangerment and both ordered held on bond of $100,000 on Monday — knew the kids would be left unattended when they each decided to go to separate parties.
They had discussed who would look after Javaris, Jariyah, and their older siblings Darnell, 7, and Marquis, 4, earlier that evening, and agreed that Tatiana would stay at home, in the 6400 block of South Paulina, so that Brittany could go to a house party, Dickler said.
But while Brittany got ready, Tatiana got a call inviting her to a CD release party in Blue Island and decided to go, the prosecutor added.
“She ran out of the house even though Brittany told her not to go,” Dickler said.
Brittany then also left, leaving the children untended, it’s alleged.
Neither adult returned for hours — until they learned that the building had caught fire, Dickler said.
And when they finally arrived at the scene of the fire, they came up with a cover story, telling police and firefighters that a cousin named “Brandy” had been watching the kids, though no such relative exists, the prosecutor added.

Cesar Henriquez spent two years fighting his case until the longtime Melrose Park resident was ripped from bed by immigration officers two weeks ago and taken into custody, his wife said. Now, Henriquez is facing deportation to his native , El Salvador.
"We have two kids, and they want their father," Alejandra Henriquez, 33, said Monday as she protested outside the building housing U.S. Department of Homeland Security offices. "He's not a criminal. I'm sick and I need him here to help me. When I fall, he was there to pick me up."

The United States needs to deport illegals who are criminals, those who collect public assistance and those cannot pay for their medical care (care for them first until they are stable then airlift them to their home country and have them admitted to their hospitals)
Hopefully, Obama and his minions will keep deporting those in the United States who are a detriment to those of us who are living her legally.

Homeowner Shoots, Kills Home Invader
From the LVRJ: A man suspected in a possible home invasion Monday morning was shot and killed after a gunfight with a resident.
Las Vegas police said a man, woman and infant were at an apartment at the La Ventana complex at 2901 N. Rainbow Blvd., near Cheyenne Avenue, when several suspects knocked on the front door about 10:15 a.m.
The man exchanged gunshots with the four suspects in the apartment, and the gunfight then spilled into the parking lot.
One of the suspects was shot in the parking lot and died at University Medical Center, said Lt. Ray Steiber, who oversees the department's homicide section.
The three other suspects, two men and a woman, ran from the area and were being sought by police.

RIP Jack Klugman
From Fox News: Jack Klugman, the prolific, craggy-faced character actor and regular guy who was loved by millions as the messy one in TV's "The Odd Couple" and the crime-fighting coroner in "Quincy, M.E.," died Monday, a son said. He was 90.
Klugman, who lost his voice to throat cancer in the 1980s and trained himself to speak again, died with his wife at his side.
"He had a great life and he enjoyed every moment of it and he would encourage others to do the same," son Adam Klugman said.
Adam Klugman said he was spending Christmas with his brother, David, and their families. Their father had been convalescing for some time but had apparently died suddenly and they were not sure of the exact cause.
"His sons loved him very much," David Klugman said. "We'll carry on in his spirit."
Never anyone's idea of a matinee idol, Klugman remained a popular star for decades simply by playing the type of man you could imagine running into at a bar or riding on a subway with -- gruff, but down to earth, his tie stained and a little loose, a racing form under his arm, a cigar in hand during the days when smoking was permitted.

Big news this week from Pawn Stars as Olivia was fired from the Gold and Silver shop for appearing in an R-rated web site, Suicide Girls. I wonder if they are going to mention this in the show, if this was a set up for something bigger or it was a legitimate firing.
From the first episode on December 17th: the first scene we is Olivia putting up Christmas decorations.
The customer brought in a Christmas menu from 1912 from Alcatraz prison. http://www.nps.gov/alca/index.htm
It was a restaurant style menu and had some pretty good food, including turkey, oyster dressing assorted vegetables etc.
The lady wanted $25,000 for the menu but Rick said he thought he could not sell it so no sale.
The story line of the show was the Christmas party. The Old Man didn't want to have the party but Chumlee offered to arrange the party.
The next guy brought in a fighter pilot leather jacket from World War 2. The pilot was a member of the Hell Hawks squadron but Rick was skeptical because it was from the United States Navy instead of the Army Air Corp.
The guy wanted $10,000 and time for an expert, Mark. Mark said the jacket was from World War 2 and the pilot was from the Hell Hawks but a different Hell Hawks from the Marines and they were a naval air group. Rick offered $1500 and the guy went down to $4000. Rick offered $2000 and that was the selling price.

A police officer from my hometown in Wisconsin, Wauwatosa, was shot and killed today.
From jsonline: A 30-year-old Wauwatosa police officer was killed by multiple gunshots while on duty early Monday, police Lt. Gerald Witkowski said at a noon news conference.
Witkowski said that a homicide investigation is under way and there "are no suspects at this time."
The murdered officer, Jennifer Lynn Sebena, entered the Milwaukee Area Technical College police academy and joined the force in January 2011. She began as a solo patrol officer with Wauwatosa police in July 2012 and completed probation with the department in November, Witkowski said.
Witkowski said Sebena was married. He did not know whether the couple has children.
"Sometime this morning, between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. one of our Wauwatosa police officers was shot numerous times in the village of Wauwatosa," Witkowski said. "That officer succumbed to those gunshot wounds and has passed away."

How Sad And Just Before Christmas: 2 Firefighters Murdered
From the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle: A 62-year-old Webster man suspected of setting a trap that killed two firefighters and injured two others was previously in prison for beating his grandmother to death, according to law enforcement sources.
The dead are Lt. Mike Chiapperini, 43, a volunteer firefighter and the Webster Police Department’s public information officer, and Tomasz Kaczowka. Chiapperini led the fire department’s explorer program for high schoolers. Both men died at the scene. Kaczowka, in his early 20s, is also a 911 dispatcher.
William H. Spengler Jr., the man identified as the shooter, was found dead outside the home where the shootings occurred, killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Chiapperini and Kaczowka were among the first responders to a fire at 191 Lake Road around 5:45 a.m. Monday. Shortly after they arrived, Spengler opened fire, authorities said.
Two other firefighters, Joseph Hofstetter and Theodore Scardino, are in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital after suffering severe injuries, according to doctors.
An off-duty Greece police officer who was driving near the scene was injured by shrapnel.
“These people get up in the middle of the night to fight fires. They don’t expect to be shot and killed,” Webster Police Chief Gerald Pickering said at a news conference just before noon.
Pickering said it appeared the shooter set a trap for first responders, setting the blaze and opening fire when they arrived to extinguish it. Gold and Silver Pawn Shop employee Olivia Black was reportedly fired from the store after nude photos of her surfaced online.
“Well s**t....I was just fired,” the 27-year-old posted on Facebook.
Black then posted a link to a Radar online article about her dismissal that states her firing came after photos were printed in the National Enquirer that revealed her racy past. Black reportedly worked for the soft-core porn website Suicide Girls back in 2008 before she started working at the pawn shop about a year ago.
But it seems she has no hard feelings toward her former coworkers.
“Nay, sadly this is not a joke....I no longer work for Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, it has been a whirlwind of a year, and now I must move on,” she wrote on Facebook. “Just as simple as downsizing. It is of no fault of the guys. I still adore my bosses fully!!!”
Wednesday it seemed as though she was moving on after she tweeted, “The tear[s] have dried and the smiles have returned, I'm fortunate to have worked for ‘Pawn Stars’ at all."
Now, it seems she is backtracking.
"I wanted to take the time to let everyone know, I posted the links about me being let go because I thought the stories were funny. I am in no way shape or form stating that is the reason I was let go," she posted on Facebook Thursday. "I hope you all have a glorious day!!!!! Thank you for all of the love and support!"

And it sucks she got fired just before Christmas- how classy, but I am sure she probably can get another job pretty easily.

Real Or Fake?
The family went out and bought our Christmas tree and after we took it inside, we found it too be to fat for our living room. Crap, but at least our house smells of a pine forest.
I have never bought a fake Christmas tree- never a fake tree- the ones that come from the factory.

Higher Milk Prices?
From the Las Vegas Sun: Forget the fiscal crisis and the automatic budget cuts. Come Jan. 1, there is a threat that milk prices could rise to $6 to $8 a gallon if Congress does not pass a new farm bill that amends farm policy dating to the Truman presidency.
Lost in the political standoff between the Obama administration and congressional Republicans over the budget is a virtually forgotten impasse over a farm bill that covers billions of dollars in agriculture programs. Without last-minute congressional action, the government would have to follow an antiquated 1949 farm law that would force Washington to buy milk at wildly inflated prices, creating higher prices in the dairy case. Milk now costs an average about $3.65 a gallon....
Under the current program, the government sets a minimum price to cover dairy farmers' production costs. If the market price drops below that, the government buys dairy products from farmers to buoy prices and increase demand. Since milk prices have remained steady, and even risen slightly in recent years, dairy farmers usually do better by selling their products commercially rather than to the government.
But if 1949 rules goes into effect, the government would be required to purchase dairy products at around $40 per hundredweight — roughly twice the current market price — to drive up the price of milk to cover dairy producers' cost.

This Is Good
From Fox News: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement reached its highest number yet of companies audited for illegal immigrants on their payrolls this past fiscal year.
Audits of employer I-9 forms increased from 250 in fiscal year 2007 to more than 3,000 in 2012. From fiscal years 2009 to 2012, the total amount of fines grew to nearly $13 million from $1 million. The number of company managers arrested has increased to 238, according to data provided by ICE.
The investigations of companies have been one of the pillars of President Obama's immigration policy.
When Obama recently spoke about addressing immigration reform in his second term, he said any measure should contain penalties for companies that purposely hire illegal immigrants. It's not a new stand, but one he will likely highlight as his administration launches efforts to revamp the nation's immigration system.
"Our goal is compliance and deterrence," said Brad Bench, special agent in charge at ICE's Seattle office. "The majority of the companies we do audits on end up with no fines at all, but again it's part of the deterrence method. If companies know we're out there, looking across the board, they're more likely to bring themselves into compliance."

This is one of the rare times I agree with the Obama administration, though I think 3000 is still a small number and very few of these raids have happened in Las Vegas, where we have over a 10% unemployment rate.
Audits of employer I-9 forms increased from 250 in fiscal year 2007 to more than 3,000 in 2012. From fiscal years 2009 to 2012, the total amount of fines grew to nearly $13 million from $1 million. The number of company managers arrested has increased to 238, according to data provided by ICE.
The investigations of companies have been one of the pillars of President Obama's immigration policy.
When Obama recently spoke about addressing immigration reform in his second term, he said any measure should contain penalties for companies that purposely hire illegal immigrants. It's not a new stand, but one he will likely highlight as his administration launches efforts to revamp the nation's immigration system.
"Our goal is compliance and deterrence," said Brad Bench, special agent in charge at ICE's Seattle office. "The majority of the companies we do audits on end up with no fines at all, but again it's part of the deterrence method. If companies know we're out there, looking across the board, they're more likely to bring themselves into compliance."

This is one of the rare times I agree with the Obama administration, though I think 3000 is still a small number and very few of these raids have happened in Las Vegas, where we have over a 10% unemployment rate.

In a speech that will likely enrage many legal gun owners, Cuomo suggested Friday afternoon that the state should consider all gun control options including “confiscation” of “assault” weapons or “mandatory sales to the state” and “permitting.”
Cuomo told Albany’s WGDJ-AM that while gun control hasn’t been on his mind for a while, the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut has made the issue more relevant than ever. He explicitly stated that he would like to look at an assault weapons and high-capacity magazines ban. Thus far, Cuomo said, New York’s laws regarding guns have “more holes than Swiss cheese.”
Echoing other gun control advocates in recent days, Cuomo said: “I don’t think legitimate sportsmen are going to say, ‘I need an assault weapon to go hunting.’ ”
“I understand the rights of gun owners; I understand the rights of hunters,” Cuomo added.
Still, the governor seems willing to pursue what some may consider drastic courses of action to keep assault weapons out of the hands of New Yorkers. “Confiscation could be an option. Pawn Stars Review: December 10, 2012
Sorry for the belated post on Pawn Stars shows, but with my computer blown up, I couldn't do much of anything.
I did get to meet Mark, from the Clark County Museum during Christmas show at the Clark County Museum. He is a very nice man in person, just like on the TV show.
On the first episode, the first guy brought in a Kentucky long rifle. Daniel Boone (http://library.thinkquest.org/4034/daniel_boone.html) The rifle had been worked on but the rifle did fire. The guy wanted $750 and Rick offered $500 and then $600 and that was the deal.
The story line of the show was that Chumlee could shoot better than any body else.
Corey is still complaining about his job situation and threatened to leave the shop/show.
Corey wants to become a partner in the shop.

The machine was cranked to produce the electric shock. The machine was used for a wide variety of illnesses. The guy wanted $250 and Corey offered $100 and then $125 and that was the selling price.

The guy wanted $500 and Rick wanted an expert. Jeremy was the expert and he said the poster was worth abut $300. The guy then came down to $300 and Rick offered $200 and went to $225 and that was the deal.
The next guy brought in a map of the United States that was made in the1700's. The guy won the map in a poker map. The guy wanted $4000. Time for an expert. Mark from the Clark County Museum came in said the map was real. Rick offered $1500 and the guy went to $2500. Rick offered $2000 and that was the sale price.
but Chumlee hit the target at 100 yards and Rick had to wear a coon skin hat for a day.
At the end of the day, Rick gave Corey a raise and 5% of the company and Corey accepted the offer.
In the second episode, Chumlee went to a guys house to look at a video game that you see at the arcade and the game was Dark Silhouette Silent Scope 2. The game is a sniper game- 1 shot, 1 kill. Chumlee tried the game and the game worked quite well. The guy wanted $1000 and Chumlee offered $400 and Chumlee then went to $600 and finally $700 and that was the selling price.
Later, the guys ripped Chumlee about the purchase and taught Chumlee to Skype from his cell phone.
The next guy brought in a 1874 Chopmarked Trade dollar. The coin had a large amount of silver in it. Corey offered $400 and they guy wanted $1000 and $800. Corey offered $500 and that was the selling point.
The next guy brought in a Salvador Dali painting and it was a really weird painting that had some glitter on it. Time for an expert to make sure it was not a forgery. Brett was the expert and said the painting was not real and not sure if the signature was real. There was no sale.
Another story line was Chumlee going to the deli and buying lunch and using Skype to help with the order.

Please Remember The First Responders At Sandy Hook
Hundreds, if not thousands of people have been affected by the tragedy at Sandy Hook. Obviously, the victims, teachers, students and the families of those involved need all the support they can get.
But there is another group of people who also need help and those are those who were first responders to the school.
From Firehouse.com: While the people of Newtown do their best to cope with loss and preserve the memories of their loved ones, another class of residents is also finding it difficult to move on: the emergency responders who saw firsthand the terrible aftermath of last week's school shooting.
Firefighter Peter Barresi was driving through Newtown on Friday when police cars with lights flashing and sirens blaring raced toward his oldest son's elementary school. After he was sent to Sandy Hook school himself, he saw things that will stay with him forever.
With anguished parents searching for their children, he prepared to receive the wounded, but a paramedic came back empty-handed, underscoring the totality of the massacre. Barresi, whose own son escaped unharmed, later discovered that among the 26 dead were children who played baseball with his son and had come to his house for birthday parties.

The first responders- the cops, EMT's. paramedics, firefighters etc. all saw gruesome scenes and possibly knew some of the kids and adults who were gunned down. These men and women are going to suffer also by the things they had seen. What A Bunch Of Scaredy Cats
Here in Clark County, the schools increased patrols by the C
CSD police and local police departments, but yet, thousands of students stayed away from school. The school my daughter goes to, Foothill H.S., about 1300 students skipped class and the middle school where my son goes, hundreds of kids skipped school.
The parents who did not send their kids to school are idiots. First, what terrorist would announce beforehand when and where they are going to strike? Second, if some thug did try and do something, do you think they would attack just a week after the shooting at Sandy Hook, when all the attention is focused on school safety? School safety is probably the best it ever has been- ever.
So, to the wimpy parents who refused to send their kids to school- you are idiots and your kids lost a day of education because of you.

After about a week without the home computer, I finally was able to purchase a new home computer from Frys, here in Las Vegas.
I would sincerely thank Jamie Greenlee who took over the blog for the week and I know it was very difficult for him to post some different posts.
Other than Jamie and me are white males, we probably have very little in common, but I felt comfortable enough to ask Jamie to post some articles for me.
Jamie is a very liberal guy and I am fairly conservative but we were able to trust each other and work things out while I was out of service.
Now, if only politicians in Washington and Carson City could do the same things- trust each other, maybe things would work out better than things are going now.
So, thank you Jamie for your help and thank you all the readers for your patience while dealing with several issues, including my wife being in the hospital, a blown up computer and my car being out of service for several days.

Three Down, One to Go
From Fox News: Three State Department officials, including a security chief, have resigned following the release of scathing report about safety lapses at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi in the run-up to the terror attack that killed four Americans.
An administration official told the Associated Press on Tuesday that Eric Boswell, the assistant secretary of state for diplomatic security, and Charlene Lamb, the deputy assistant secretary responsible for embassy security, stepped down under pressure after the release of the report Tuesday night.
The third official purportedly worked for the Bureau of Near East Affairs, but was not immediately identified, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss personnel matters publicly.
The State Department-ordered investigation of the Sept. 11 attack on the consulate in Benghazi, Libya, concluded that "systemic failures" left the facility inadequately protected.
The independent review board's report also confirmed that no protest preceded the deadly attack, as the Obama administration first told the public.
The report identified "leadership and management deficiencies at senior levels within two bureaus." It suggested 29 ways the department can improve its operations, but recommended no disciplinary action.

Well, at least 3 senior staffers at the State Department had the guts to quit after it was found out that the State department pretty much blew it before, during after the Benghazi attack.
At least these 3 decided to quit in honor unlike the head of the state Department, Hillary Clinton, who has decided that not only will she not quit, she will hide like a coward from appearing before a congressional committee.

Thoughts About the Sandy Hook Murders

My first thought was that we had several hero teachers, administrators and other staff at the school,, who died trying to protect the kids at the school. They put the kids ahead of their family, their dreams, their upcoming school vacation, when they put themselves between the shooter and the little kids. If I ever was put into that position, I would hope I would do the heroic thing by trying to take out the gunman before he kills innocent people.
Father Mychal Judge was a chaplain of the FDNY (New York City Fire Department) and was the first person on the ground killed when planes attacked the Twin Towers on 9/11. Many people have speculated that Father Judge died so that he can help the souls of the of the victims of 9/11 as they go into the after life. Well, the principal of Sandy Hook Elementary, Dawn Hochsprung, reminds me of Father Judge- sacrificing herself so the children killed will be comforted as they go onto Heaven.
From ABC News: Sandy Hook Elementary School principal Dawn Hochsprung devoted her life to helping students as an educator.
In her final moments, Hochsprung, 47, reportedly gave her life Friday to save the lives of countless students and teachers when she sprung from a conference room at the sound of gunshots and confronted head-on the armed shooter who had barged into the school.
“When I learned that she actually tried to take the gunman down, it was no surprise to me at all,” Hochsprung’s cousin, Melanie Buhrmaster-Bunch, said today on “Good Morning America.”

And of course, President Obama, right off the bat, before the first funeral, decided to make the murders a political issue by trying to get gun reform passed. The bozo has no shame. There is a time and place for the debate but the moron Obama decided not to wait before the funerals ended to make his political statements. And you wonder why sales of guns and ammunition have skyrocketed since Obama was elected.
Finally, it will not be a surprise to me if they find out that the killer had bad experiences at school, to the point that he had to be homeschooled. A student who has disabilities can stay in school until the age of 22, so it makes me wonder what happened at school to make him home schooled and target Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Curse Of Wal-Mart Or Just Bad Luck?
Since I started my second job at Wal-Mart, my home computer blew up, my wife was in the hospital with diabetes and foot problems and I lost the keys to my car and didn’t have a replacement set for them.
I haven’t had a spell of bad luck for many, many years.
So, is it the curse of Wal-Mart, bad luck or we are living the saying: Things happen in 3s?

New Legal Foreclosure Scam?
A friend of mine who
is in the real estate business in Las Vegas told me about this new way of
scamming people who had just bought a house that had been in foreclosure and it
just simply blew my mind at first and then wondered if it was legal.
This is how the new
“scam” works: You are in the market for
a new house to buy and you find your dream house in an area that is in area
where a Homeowners association is in operation and your dream house is in
foreclosure.
The previous owner ran
afoul of the Homeowners Association and got some fines for not cutting your
lawn enough or parked your car in a way that pissed off the HOA. Because you hate the HOA, you refused to pay
the fines, so the HOA slaps a lien on your house.
So, you buy your house
and the banks that holds the first lien on the house gets paid off the money
they are owed.
But then you find out
that the HOA has sold the lien they ha on your house to a 3rd party
and they hold the lien over the buyers head, basically hold the buyer hostage.
Say the new 3rd
party lien holder bought the lien from the HOA for $4000, they then turn around
and demand $6000 or more to have the lien removed. And if you don’t pay the 3rd
party’s lien, guess what, you don’t buy the house.
Most people are
rolling the lien into the buyer’s mortgage, to lessen the shock.
But, how can it be
legal for a 3rd party come in, buy a lien, jack up the price and
basically hold the new buyer hostage where they say- pay the jacked up price of
the lien or you don’t get the house?
Al Capone could not
have come up with a better plan.

children were massacred in a bloodbath at Sandy Hook
Elementary School
Friday morning by a lone gunman.
The gunman is also dead,
bringing the total dead at the school to 27, state police have confirmed. A
second crime scene has been established at a Newtown home, where a body was
found after the shooting.
There
are conflicting reports on who the shooter was.
The
Associated Press
has identified the shooter as 20-year-old Adam Lanza.
CNN
originally identified the shooter as Adam Lanza's brother, Ryan Lanza, 24, a
Hoboken, N.J. resident. The AP said Ryan Lanza is being questioned by police in
the investigation.
A
Facebook page belonging to Ryan Lanza, a former Newtown resident who lived in
Hoboken, N.J. who studied at Quinnipiac
University
in Hamden, has been taken down. Before it was deleted, Ryan Lanza posted on the
page and said he wasn't the shooter.
State
police haven't released the shooter's name.
Police
in Sandy Hook are at a house on Yogananda Street and have surrounded it with
yellow tape. The house is owned by Lanza's mother, Nancy, according to public
records. Sources said Nancy
Lanza,
was a teacher at Sandy Hook School.
This
story, as it is unfolding is going to be strange and there will be a lot of
finger pointing in a lot of different directions. The finger pointing can come another day.
Right now, many
families are in shock and are grieving.
They sent their children off to school and 22 of those kids will never
be coming home… ever.
And another 7 adults
left their families and went to work or to the school on business, never to go
home again.
Finally, you have
dozens of children who witnessed, saw the aftermath or knew somebody who was
killed and their lives will never be the same.
These are the stories
we should concentrate on, not if an assault weapon was used, if there should be
tighter gun laws or if teachers should be armed or if the shooter was a liberal
or a conservative and listened to Rush Limbaugh or Rachel Maddow or listened to
rap or heavy metal music. Those stories
will come out later. Please, just offer
up some prayers or thoughts for the little ones and the adults.
