President Obama, one half of Dumb and Dumber, said the Hispanic Cambridge police officer who arrested a supposedly famous Harvard professor of disorderly conduct and the brillant professor broke into his own house after losing keys, was "acting stupidly". http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,534687,00.html
Let's see. He was having a press conference about health care during prime time. Why was this question even asked? When was the last time a president was asked about an arrest of a private citizen who is not in government or not a very close personal friend during a prime time news conference? I suspect the question was a planted question.
Obama is losing the health care issue. He wanted the congress to vote on health care reform before congress went on vacation. The next day, Congress, in a rare instance where they got things right, at least for now, declined to do so. In addition, polls are showing that Obama is losing the issue on health care. Throw in the fact that Obama's economy still sucks and more military deaths are being reported in Afghanistan, Obama losing support.
So, he throws out the race card, a typical liberal distraction. He admits he didn't read the police officer's report and is just going on what he has heard, though the police report was available for all to see. http://www.amnation.com/vfr/Police%20report%20on%20Gates%20arrest.PDF
Was the arrest warranted? It is an arrest that could have gone either way. I have lost my keys to my house in years past and had to break in to my own home. Probably has happened to me 10 times. On one occasion, I broke in just as a Milwaukee cop was driving by, so they pulled me over and asked me for some identification. I would not expect anything less from the cops. I showed them my ID and they left.
Instead, the professor started yelling and accusing the officer of being a racist. After several moments of listening to this professor, the professor was arrested for disorderly conduct.
In addition, Fox News is reporting that the professor's house was previously broken into, so there was reason for the cops to look even more closely at the situation.
Obama then defends his comment on ABC news on Thursday and will not apologize for acting stupid. Fair enough because if Obama has to apologize for everything stupid Obama has said, we would have to have reality television series for the apologies. Maybe the "Deadliest Lies", "Ice Road Liar", "The Liar", Dancing with the Liar", "American Liar" etc. Maybe we can get a bunch of politicians together and have the worst liar voted off show.
Obama took a local issue, didn't know all the facts of the case and in this case, Obama was the one who "acted stupidly"
