President Obama and Harry Reid have been engaged (literally) and connected to each other's butts for the past two years. Harry Reid helped Obama win Nevada in 2010 and Obama has been sniffing Reid's ass for the past two years in hopes of getting Obama's bills passed. It's n wonder that both want Don't Ask Don't Tell to pass so bad. They probably had a rider on the bill allowing male Senators and Presidents to Marry without any consequences.
Well, as in marriage, even in gay marriage, sometimes there is a divorce and seems like today may be the divorce between Harry Reid and Obama.
From the Las Vegas Sun: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid had a message for his antagonists today. To Republicans: stop being such hypocrites. To the White House: stay out of my Congress.
“I do not want to give up more power to the White House, whether it's George Bush or Barack Obama, and I'm going to fight as hard as I can against President Obama on these earmarks, and my Republican colleagues who hate to vote for them but love to get them,” Reid said.
The latest break down between Reid and Obama – and Republican party leaders, with whom the administration has taken to striking deals with lately — is cropping up over a dispute about funding the government.

The media is missing the point on this. The media is focusing on the GOP-Donkey fight, but the more interesting fight is between Obama and the Democrats. Obama is not bargaining with the Donkeys, he is bargaining with the Elephants. And if a spending bill is not passed by midnight Saturday, the U.S. government will shut down. And that is a bad idea. I would think most Federal employees will be cheering for the shut down as will have a nice start to a Christmas vacation.
And the funny thing is is that it will be all on the Democrats. they are still in charge of Congress, but they are totally dysfunctional. You have a bunch of Democrats who lost their congressional seat and they are pissed and don't what happens. You have at least 23 Democrat Senators who are up for re-election in 2012 and they don't want to lose their power and will not play ball with the liberals. And then you have people like Harry Reid who has 6 more years to serve and loves the power and will act in his own self interest. It's quite a side show to watch.
Pfft. Obama and Reid are gay for each other? Puh-leeze. I don't know if DADT is actually going to end this weekend, but I sure hope it does. It's amazing to me that conservatives are all "support the troops" until one of those troops (boy I hate that a term for a group of soldiers has become a singular noun) happens to be gay.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the accomplishments of some of these people who've been (or ar being) ejected? Victor Fehrenbach for example? DADT is a cash-wasting, human resource wasting policy, and it needs to go, regardless of any political posturing.
