A judge declared part of the Obama Care unconstitutional. The part that says you are forced to buy insurance was unconstitutional and it didn't take a brain surgeon to figure that one out.
What this ruling does, is it ensures that the case will end up in the Supreme Court. Liberals are saying it's not big deal, conservatives says it's the end of Obama Care.
Well, it's not the end of Obama Care but the ruling hurts it very much. Obama Care depended on forcing everyone to have insurance was a big way to pay for their plan. If this is unconstitutional, then Obama Care will be hurting big time.
It's also not the end of Obama Care. All Obama and the liberals have to do in place of the forced insurance is to raise taxes. Problem solved.
Second big news is Brett Favre has his streak ended at 297 consecutive starts. His streak started in 1992. Think about it, 18 years without a sick day. That is great for a quarterback. Aaron Rodgers can't go a season without getting hurt.
It would have been nice to get to 300 but it wasn't to be.
Now, the question is, will he finish the season? My guess is no. He will go on injured reserve because there is really no reason for him to continue. The Vikings are out of the playoff picture and they need to get a new quarterback no matter who it is, some experience.
So, thanks for the memories, Brett and enjoy your retirement.

The mandate was originally proposed by Republican Orin Hatch when Bob Dole had a health care plan to counter Hillary Clinton's. In fact "ObamaCare" is very similar to "DoleCare." It's funny how Republican ideas are suddenly unconstitutional after a Democrat agrees to them.
ReplyDeleteSo far, this is the first of MANY challenges to actually succeed. A bunch have failed. I wouldn't be surprised to see SCOTUS disagree with this ruling, though. The mandate can be seen as a tax, and taxes are constitutional.
