Should Mentally Disabled Be Forced To Have An Abortion?

From Life News: With obvious public outcries against forced abortions in China and forced sterilizations of mentally handicapped individuals in Nazi Germany, one might assume the United States knows better.
However, today, in Nevada, the life of an 11-week-old unborn baby and the future of his or her 32-year-old mother hang in the balance as a judge considers whether or not to order the woman to undergo an abortion and sterilization against her will.
Elisa Bauer, who suffers from severe mental and physical disabilities attributed to fetal alcohol syndrome, is currently in the final weeks of her first trimester. The second-oldest of six children adopted by William and Amy Bauer in 1992, Elisa has epilepsy and is said to have the mental and social capacity of a 6-year-old....
Since turning 18 in 1998, she has continued to remain under court-approved guardianship of her parents, who were given legal authority to make final decisions regarding her health and welfare, even as she lived in a group home.
While Elisa has maintained that she wants to carry out her pregnancy, she knows she will be unable to care for the child. The Bauers support her decision, are following all the prenatal protocol for high-risk pregnancies, and have already lined up six qualified couples who are eager to adopt Elisa’s child once he or she is born.
However, when Washoe County Social Services became aware of Elisa’s pregnancy, the department issued an informal report requesting that the Court set a status hearing to address the potential health effects Elisa’s pregnancy could have on her and her unborn child, and possibly override the mutual decision made between Elisa and her parents to have her baby.
Jason Guinsasso, the attorney for the Bauers, says that the court has no jurisdiction to intervene in any health-related decisions regarding Elisa — pregnancy included — because Elisa’s parents are the legal guardians. He adds that Washoe County Social Services Department must submit a formal petition based on substantial grounds to usurp guardianship before the County Court can get involved.
“There are no statutes that give this Court or Washoe County the authority to compel Elisa to have an abortion. Such decisions are left to the sound discretion of the duly appointed guardian(s)… To date, Washoe County has utterly failed to provide clear and convincing evidence that Mr. and Mrs. Bauer’s decision to support Elisa’s efforts to carry her child to term is unlawful or that they are not acting in a manner consistent with the best interests of Elisa’s health and welfare.”  http://www.lifenews.com/2012/10/31/court-may-force-mentally-disabled-nevada-woman-to-have-abortion/
I used to work in a nursing home in a Milwaukee, WI. area home and just before I got there, a severely mentally and physically disabled resident of the nursing home gave birth to a healthy baby boy.  The young lady was raped, even though she was in a wheelchair and had a functioning age of about 1 year old.  She was allowed to give birth to a baby and and a family was able to adopt a healthy baby.  the nursing home resident didn't appear to suffer from any long term effects from her giving birth and the family gave approval for the young lady to give birth.
Now, we have another young lady in the Reno area who is disabled but in this case, the government is trying to get the baby aborted, despite the young lady's and her guardian's request she give birth.
Unless the physical health of the mother is in danger, the government has no right or reason to intervene in this case.  The young lady and her guadians want the pregnancy to continue, so they should be given the right to choose.
Freedom of choice works both ways- if the woman wants to abort her baby, she has the right to do so and if a woman doesn't want to end the pregnancy, the government needs to butt out.

November Surprise: NJ Democrat Senator In Sex Scandal

From the Daily Caller: Two women from the Dominican Republic told The Daily Caller that Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez paid them for sex earlier this year.
In interviews, the two women said they met Menendez around Easter at Casa de Campo, an expensive 7,000 acre resort in the Dominican Republic. They claimed Menendez agreed to pay them $500 for sex acts, but in the end they each received only $100.
The women spoke through a translator in the company of their attorney, Melanio Figueroa. Both asked that their identities remain obscured for fear of reprisals in the Dominican Republic.
When shown a photograph of Sen. Menendez, the women said they recognized him as the man with whom they’d had sexual relations at Casa de Campo this spring. Both said they were brought to the resort with the understanding they would be paid for sex.
Neither knew the identity of the man at the time. Both claimed to recognize him later as Sen. Menendez.
“He called him[self] ‘Bob,’” said one.
One woman said Menendez wooed her with compliments like “beautiful” before they slept together. The other woman recounted, with apparent bitterness, receiving from an intermediary only $100 of the $500 she had been promised.
“He lies,” she said of Menendez. “He says one thing and does another.”
But hey, it's only sex and if he did it n Nevada, it would be legal in all of counties except Clark and Washoe counties.
What a freakin pervert.

You Stay Classy, Liberals

This is kind of funny, but also shows how sick liberals are when they put out crap like this.
Warning, foul language from old geezers.:

Why Does Obama Have A Penchant For Racist Ministers?

From the Washington Examiner: Pastor Joseph Lowery, a civil rights movement hero who delivered the benediction at President Obama’s inauguration, reportedly said that he is shocked that any black Americans would stay home with Obama on the ballot and suggested that all or most white people would go to hell.
The local outlet paraphrases Lowery’s comments. “Lowery said that when he was a young militant, he used to say all white folks were going to hell,” the Monroe County Reporter (Ga.) says in covering a rally in Forsyth, Georgia. “Then he mellowed and just said most of them were. Now, he said, he is back to where he was.”
The local mayor, who attended the rally, rejected that statement from Lowery. “The Bible doesn’t say anything about white or black to go to heaven,” Mayor John Howard said. “I have great number of black and white friends. I’ve been in the military. I make friends with everybody. I’m too old for enemies.”
The 91-year-old Lowery worked with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and played a key role in various important moments in the civil rights movement, such as the march from  Selma, Ala., to Montgomery, Ala. “Lowery was awarded the Medal of Freedom in 2009 by Obama and was elected earlier this year to lead the state’s delegation to the Democratic national convention,” the Georgia Tipsheet recalled.  http://washingtonexaminer.com/pastor-who-prayed-at-obamas-inauguration-says-all-white-people-will-go-to-hell/article/2512272#.UJIEPGc8VXs
Why does Obama have a penchant for ministers who are racist?  I've been going to Church for 50+ years and I haven't been to many services where the minister says racists things and if they do, I won't be returning.

Liberal Media Bias: False Polls

The newspapers in Wisconsin are trumpeting a new poll that shows that President Obama all of a sudden has a big lead over Mitt Romney and that int he senate race ultra liberal gay Democrat House Rep. Tammy Baldwin is way ahead of former Gov., Bush Cabinet member old white guy, Tommy Thompson.  P:olls a few weeks ago showed the race was very tight, actually, a tie.
from jsonline: As both sides flood the state with attention, a new poll by Marquette University Law School gives President Barack Obama an edge here over Republican candidate Mitt Romney in the closing days of a fiercely competitive 2012 election.
Obama leads Romney 51% to 43% in the survey of 1,243 likely voters in Wisconsin, taken last Thursday through Sunday.
In Marquette's last poll two weeks ago, the candidates were virtually tied, with Obama at 49% and Romney at 48%. Obama has led most independent polls this month, but often by slender margins, and the state is one of six or seven now commanding the candidates' overwhelming focus and effort.  http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/obama-leads-romney-in-wisconsin-in-new-marquette-poll-qv7ebn4-176632941.html
However, this is a bogus poll run by a liberal university, Marquette University.
Why is it a fake poll?
From Charlie Sykes:  Another day, another skewed poll that over-samples Democrats and under-weights Republicans.
The only thing consistent about Wednesday's MU Law poll is its penchant for wild, unexplained swings in voter sentiment.
In a year in which the numbers have moved only incrementally, MU would have us believe that Wisconsin voters have experienced massive-- and largely unexplained -- mood swings in the last few weeks.
That swing also turned a 3 point Obama lead (August) into a 14 point Obama lead (September).
On closer inspection,it turned out that the September MU poll had a +11  Dem sample. Jeff Wagner called that poll "embarrassingly inaccurate and it makes me wonder what's going on at Marquette."
Two weeks later, the whiplash continued:  MU discovered another seismic shift in the electorate, reporting that both races were essentially tied, with Romney down by 1; Thompson up by 1. That poll had a +1 Dem sample -- a 10 pt swing in just a month.
Today, it comes out with a poll  with another big shift: Obama 51; Romney 43. Baldwin 47 Thompson 43.
One GOP insider dismissed the result with a single word: "'absurd."
MU's new likely voter Party ID is 44 GOP, 49 DEM. That is a +5 Dem sample on election day. Other pollsters are predicting a  +1 Dem turnout based on the enthusiasm of GOP voters and leaners. Those polls also show Romney/Thompson also leading among independents. (Rasmussen has Wisconsin at Romney 49-Obama 49.)  http://www.620wtmj.com/blogs/charliesykes/176653801.html
There is no reason why the fraud pollsters should give a 5% advantage to the Democrats over Republicans when they call people up.
Last year, there was a recall election in which the Republican, Scott walker won by a significant margin.  earlier, in a Supreme Court race, the conservative judge defeated the liberal justice in a fairly close margin.  So, if there was going to be an advantage, it should tilt more towards the GOP or at the very least, a 50-50 split.
So, liberal bias can exist in may forms and conducting misleading and fraudulent polls and then the liberal media laps it up and reports it without stating that the poll was a complete phony.

Crybaby Reid Scandal: "What's A Billion any How?"

I realize that Crybaby/Coward Harry Reid cannot possibly embarrass Nevada any more than he does currently, but he certainly trying.
From the Washington Examiner: President Obama claims that political considerations did not influence the Energy Department’s green energy loan program, but newly-released internal emails show that his administration subsidized Nevada companies in order to help Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., win his 2010 reelection campaign.
“And these are decisions, by the way, that are made by the Department of Energy, they have nothing to do with politics,” Obama said last week when asked about the green companies that have gone bankrupt despite receiving taxpayer support.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee released DOE emails today that compromise Obama’s position on two counts: one, the emails show that Obama himself was involved in approving loans; two, DOE officials were keenly aware of the political interests at stake, as they regarded the loans as a way for the White House to help Reid by giving him a way to brag about bringing federal money into Nevada....
“Reid may be desperate,” McCrea wrote. “WH may want to help. Short term considerations may be more important than longer term considerations and what’s a billion anyhow?” That’s a troubling closing question given that the DOE lost over half-a-billion dollars on one company when Solyndra went bankrupt.
In that same message, McCrea also speculated that, in light of Reid’s campaign struggles, “there may be an opportunity to move several transactions simultaneously, allowing LGPO to finish with a trifecta!”
A May 2010 email shows that Reid requested a meeting with Jonathan Silver — the Obama bundler who resigned his post at DOE after the Solyndra bankruptcy — to discuss green energy projects in Nevada.

Silver interpreted Reid’s request in light of the campaign. “Reid is constantly hit at home for not bringing in the federal dollars,” he wrote. Silver’s task, according to the DOE memo prepared for his meeting, was to assure Reid that “we anticipate a good number of projects to be approved in the coming months.”
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee notes that “throughout 2010 LPO emails indicate that projects in Nevada were prioritized because they were ‘high profile,’ ‘tied to larger events,’ or because they had Senator Reid’s support.”
Nevada Geothermal received a $98.5 million loan guarantee.  Solar Reserve, another Nevada project included Solyndra investors among it’s board, received a $737 million loan guarantee (after Solyndra went bankrupt). LS Power Associations, which used to be known as SWIP, received a $343 million loan guarantee from DOE. (Silver specifically asked for information about the SWIP project as he prepared to meet with Reid.)   http://washingtonexaminer.com/emails-show-obama-admin-used-doe-loan-money-to-help-harry-reids-2010-campaign/article/2512249#.UJH65mc8VXt
I remember this time period and at the time, I thought it was strange that Reid was making all these announcements about all these green energy plants coming to Nevada and mainly Southern Nevada.
And how many of these plants were actually built?  Pretty much: none.  These were all lies.
What a shock about the lies and what a shock that Reid benefited from the White House and their generosity with taxpayer money during his re-election campaign.
No wonder Reid is acting all senile and stupidly with all these false accusations about Mitt Romney.  It's just payback to Obama for them helping Reid in 2010.

New Poll Questions

We have 4 new poll questions out today.
1.  Will Hurricane Sandy affect the presidential election?
2.  Is Harry Reid insane?
3.  Who will win the NBA championship this season?
4.  Will voter fraud affect local, state or federal elections?
Thanks for voting and if you have any suggestions for questions, please feel free to let me know.
Thanks

We Know Your Pain, Kid

Those of us in battle ground states, we know your pain about the election and wanting it to be over.
But to make a 4 year old listen to NPR should be considered child abuse:
NPR today apologized to four-year-old Abigael Evans, of Fort Collins, Colo., after learning that one of their reports on the 2012 election was the cause for her tears.
"On behalf of NPR and all other news outlets, we apologize to Abigael and all the many others who probably feel like her," NPR's Mark Memmott writes. "We must confess, the campaign's gone on long enough for us, too. Let's just keep telling ourselves: 'Only a few more days, only a few more days, only a few more days.'"  http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2012/10/npr-apologizes-to-abigael-evans-147847.html

Liberal Media Bias Strikes Again

http://media.hotair.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/ramirez-mediabias-lg.jpg
Today, NBC and CBS had special reports when President Obama and Gov. Chris Christie gave a news conference regarding the damage of Hurricane Sandy.
First, the people affected by the Hurricane are either out cleaning up or they have no electricity, so  they are not getting any new or important information.
Also, when there have been other natural disasters, like the tornado outbreaks in the south that caused far more damage and devastated far more lives, CBS and NBC did not break into their soap operas and other programming to give Obama his political speech.
After Obama's campaign speech  on NBC, their commentators then praised their president and god and told us what a great job their Führer  was doing.
ABC and Fox entertainment did not give Obama free campaign air time.  Good for them.
I also have no problem with the cable TV networks breaking in because the president's speech was news but not breaking news worthy of a special report.
We now have less that a week before the elections and the liberal bias is just going to get worse.

Woman Married 79 Years Dies

From the LVRJ: Just nine months after being honored with her husband, Wilbur, as the longest married couple in America, Theresa Faiss has died in Las Vegas.
She died Sunday at age 97. Wilbur and Theresa Faiss had been married for 79 years.
"She was an amazing woman who was adored by her three sons," Linda Faiss, Theresa Faiss' daughter-in-law, said Tuesday. "Fortunately the family got together a couple of days ago for Dad's 101st birthday."
In January, the Worldwide Marriage Encounter announced the Faisses were winners of its longest-married couple award for 2012. The award is given only once to a couple, so three other couples at the time might have had longer marriages.
Wilbur Faiss, a member of the state Senate from North Las Vegas between 1976 and 1984, is the oldest living former Nevada state legislator. The couple had lived in Summerlin since 1985.
He said in January that the key to success in politics or in marriage was "compromise."
"Every day ask her how she feels and 'Is there anything I can do for you?'" he said. "And say, 'Honey, I still love you.'"  http://www.lvrj.com/news/las-vegas-woman-of-longest-married-couple-fame-dies-176514681.html
ll, i can say is wow.
In our family, we have had some long marriages, at least 3 over 50 over 50 years.
And then we have had some that lasted a few months.
To be married for 79 years is just unfathomable but it shows true love and lot's of compromise and making sure the other half is happy.
RIP Mrs. Faiss and may your family and friends celebrate your life and they will share your secret of your happiness.

I Might Go See My First Star Wars Film

Sounds like they are going to make Star Stars 100.
From the Orlando Sentinel: A decade after George Lucas said "Star Wars" was finished on the big screen, a new trilogy is destined for theaters as The Walt Disney Co. announced Tuesday that it was buying Lucasfilm Ltd. for $4.05 billion.
The seventh movie, with a working title of "Episode 7," is set for release in 2015. Episodes 8 and 9 will follow. The new trilogy will carry the story of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia beyond "Return of the Jedi," the third film released and the sixth in the saga. After that, Disney plans a new "Star Wars" movie every two or three years. Lucas will serve as creative consultant in the new movies.
"For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next," said Lucas, chairman and CEO of Lucasfilm Ltd. "It's now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I've always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime."
Disney CEO Bob Iger said Lucusfilm had already developed an extensive story line on the next trilogy, and Episode 7 was now in early-stage development.
The Walt Disney Co. announced the blockbuster agreement to buy Lucasfilm in cash and stock Tuesday. The deal includes Lucasfilm's prized high-tech production companies, Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound, as well as rights to the "Indiana Jones" franchise.

I'm probably the only one in the United States who has never seen a Star wars movie, so, I really don't know what the excitement of Star wars is.  (as an aside, I've never seen E.T. or Star Trek either- I'm not a sci fi fan)
But I am sure this will bring in a few more Star War fans and hopefully, it will bring in some money to the movie makers, actors and other film staff.

San Fran Tough On Giant Fans, Not On Occupiers

Another reason why San Francisco is just a sick city.
From the San Fran Chronicle:  San Francisco authorities unveiled a no-nonsense response Tuesday to a Giants victory celebration that spun out of control Sunday night, vowing to bring both criminal and civil charges against many of those arrested for stirring the chaos.
Those being targeted include Andrew Fitzsimons, accused of shooting a firearm out of a window; Aichieu Saefong, accused of throwing bottles at a Muni bus; and Luis Lomeli, accused of throwing bottles at police officers.
Those three are among more than 30 people who traded their San Francisco Giants orange for jail-issued orange jumpsuits when celebrations rejoicing the team's World Series win turned into a destructive riot, primarily in the Mission District.
City officials were shocked by the early morning outbreak of vandalism - including the torching of a $700,000 Muni bus, flipping cars, dancing on taxis and buses, and touching off about 70 trash fires that were fed with old mattresses, discarded furniture and plastic trash cans.....
The city attorney's office did not seek action against protesters who vandalized Mission District businesses earlier this year. Herrera cited the sheer amounts of evidence against the Giants rioters in comparison to the protesters, and also the need to send a message to any possible instigators.
In the Mission District, rioters set 70 garbage fires and threw bottles at police officers, wounding two who sustained minor lacerations from the broken glass. They tagged a San Francisco police van with anarchy signs and smashed windows. The windows to the GLBT History Museum in the Castro were also shattered. Police spokesman Officer Carlos Manfredi said officers were still investigating all reports of vandalism from the riot and more arrests are possible.
Occupy Thugs: Good.  Baseball Fans: Bad
What a bunch of crap.

Stupid Educator/Union News

From the LVRJ: The Clark County School District's $40-million Race to the Top ended before it began, pulled off the starting line by its teachers union.
The Clark County Education Association, which has been at odds with the district for two years over teacher salaries and benefits, has refused to sign off on the district's federal grant application. That stops the district dead in its tracks.
Union buy-in was required for the district to seek a $40 million slice of the competitive $400-million federal grant, which is intended to promote data-based and digital tools to meet individual student needs and evaluate school staff. The grant would have benefited 41,000 students at 63 Clark County schools, which would have received high-technology tools and literacy intervention. The district also could have hired 22 teachers plus 24 support staff dedicated to mostly helping students struggling with English.
Tuesday was the deadline for applications, but President Barack Obama extended the deadline indefinitely because of Hurricane Sandy. But that's not likely to help Clark County, America's fifth-largest school district.
Clark County Education Association officials, who did not return calls Tuesday, claim the union was left out of the district's application process.
Executive Director John Vellardita wrote Clark County Deputy Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky on Oct. 24, agreeing that "teachers and students need the resourcing opportunities that a Race to the Top holds."
"However, because the district has not engaged in any genuine attempts at collaboration, we will miss an opportunity to improve teaching and learning in Clark County," he wrote, informing the district that it wouldn't receive the union's support.
The district didn't include teachers or the union while drafting the reforms outlined in the application, Vellardita contended.
In actuality, the union was invited to participate at every turn from July through October but refused, wrote the district's Chief Student Services Officer Kim Wooden Tuesday. She went on to list seven attempts to include the union, including reaching out to union President Ruben Murillo, who said Vikki Courtney would be the union's representative. The district contacted Courtney, who said she'd attend meetings. But Courtney never showed, Wooden wrote in her reply.
Despite the union's absence from the process, 1,616 teachers attended the stakeholder meetings, Wooden said. Principals reported that 89.4 percent of stakeholders were in agreement with the application's proposals.
"CCEA chose not to participate in the formation of the grant," Wooden wrote Vellardita. "It is even more disappointing that association is effectively blocking the district … at a time when we all agree that we need more resources for education."  http://www.lvrj.com/news/teachers-union-blocks-clark-county-school-district-s-bid-for-40-million-federal-grant-176520461.html
When the CCEA says they are there for the children, don't buy it, it' a bunch of bull crap.
But then, why would a requirement for the money is to have the teacher's union be on board and they have veto power?  Just another stupid Obama administration requirement.

Funny...

From Bernie Goldberg and Arthur Lewis: THE SCENE: A rural farmhouse. It is daytime, and a light drizzle is falling. There is a knock at the door. The farmer opens the door.)
PRESIDENT OBAMA: I’m President Obama, and I’m here to help you. I have personally taken charge of all emergency activities as Hurricane Sandy approaches. It is important for me to seem presidential, which hasn’t been the case up till now, and I figure that anyone I help personally will certainly vote for me. How has the storm affected you, and what can I do for you? Do you need me for any repairs? Are there any power lines down on your property?
FARMER: Well, it’s not much of a storm yet. I’m not aware of any damage.
OBAMA:  I noticed considerable flooding as we were coming this way. There was a long stretch of deep water over that hill.
FARMER: Oh, you must mean the river. It’s always there, there’s no flooding involved.
OBAMA: A river? Now I feel kind of silly. I got out of the car and walked across the surface, just to keep in practice. I thought it was a flood.
FARMER: In that case you had better go back outside and wipe your shoes on the mat.

(SEVERAL MORE PEOPLE ENTER, INCLUDING THE PRESIDENT’S AIDES, MEMBERS OF THE SECRET SERVICE AND PEOPLE CARRYING TV CAMERAS AND SOUND EQUIPMENT.)
OBAMA: Let me introduce you to my associate, Mr. Axelrod. He is here to make sure I don’t say anything foolish. And by the way, do you mind if these network reporters set up in your living room?
FARMER: They can go ahead, but it’s not a very big room.
OBAMA: This is going to be a big, serious storm. Are you prepared to evacuate? If someone tells you to evacuate, you mustn’t argue, just evacuate.  Doesn’t that sound presidential?
FARMER: There has been no call for evacuation yet, but I will certainly keep in mind what you said.
OBAMA:  Let’s forget this stupid storm for a minute and talk politics. I was all set to fly to Vegas again and raise some money, but now…
AXELROD: …but now you welcome the opportunity to help the American people in a vital and fundamental way. You will show them that Benghazi was a fluke, and that you really do give a damn if Americans, or at least those who vote Democratic, live or die. Isn’t that so, Mr. President?  http://www.bernardgoldberg.com/obama-singlehandedly-saves-america-from-the-storm/
And it goes on.

It Is Almost The 3 Year Anniversary Of The Fort Hood Shootings And...

There still has not been a trial for the shooter/terrorist in the terrorist attack on U.S. soil that killed 13 people and wounded 29 others..
Why is that?
Is Obama afraid to offend the Muslim world by holding a trial?  A few months ago, that may have been a silly thought, but the way Obama has treated Libya and other Muslim countries, it would not surprise me that the Obama administration is refusing to prosecute the Muslim terrorist/thug until he is almost out of office, if he is re-elected.

Good Advice From The LVRJ On Elections

From an editorial in the LVRJ: As we pointed out in our Sunday editorial, some choices on the general election ballot are not about ideological or policy differences between candidates. Some races feature candidates who are simply unfit for the office they're seeking.
North Las Vegas voters have an enormously important race down ticket: Justice Court, Department 1. The race is important because one of the candidates, Jonathan Mac-Arthur, has demonstrated time and again that he has no business being a judge. He was a substitute jurist in this court until 2007, when he posted on his MySpace web page his personal interest in "breaking my foot off in a prosecutor's ass," which cost him that job. More recently, he was found in contempt for refusing to defend a client, and he received a letter of reprimand from the State Bar after he was accused of trying to bribe a witness in order to change his testimony in a criminal case. His presence on the bench would be a threat to justice itself. Fortunately, voters have an excellent alternative. Kalani Hoo has worked for the court as a substitute judge and has performed admirably. He also serves as a truancy judge for the county, where he tries to keep kids on the right path. Mr. Hoo is not just the only choice in this race - he's a very good one.
In the race for Clark County District Court, Department 5, incumbent Carolyn Ellsworth is more than worthy of the bench based on her 32 years of experience as a prosecutor, corporate counsel, private-practice attorney and jurist. She was appointed by Gov. Sandoval last year and is seeking retention against Phung Jefferson, the wife of disgraced ex-Assemblyman Morse Arberry. He was caught depositing campaign contributions into a personal account and spending the proceeds. The investigator who uncovered the campaign finance violation? Ms. Ellsworth. Besides having obviously questionable motives for seeking this judgeship, Ms. Jefferson has far less experience. Vote for Carolyn Ellsworth.  http://www.lvrj.com/opinion/bad-candidates-and-the-very-good-alternatives-to-them-176385151.html
Yes, there are some bad candidates out there and just because a person has a R or D connected their names, doesn't make them a good candidate and some of the non-partisan elections also have some bad candidates.

Who Could Tell The Difference?

From Fox News: An unwelcome visitor at a North Texas jail has been freed by a reptile-friendly deputy.
Cpl. Mike McNicholas of the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office helped remove the 5-foot-long rat snake from some overhead pipe space.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Monday that an inmate at the county's Greenbay jail facility had spotted the snake above his cell.
McNicholas blamed the nonvenomous snake for the inside job, saying the creature probably got into the jail through exhaust fans or air conditioning ducts. He thinks the snake couldn't get back out and would have starved if not helped.
McNicholas carried the snake to a vacant lot near the jail and freed the critter near a creek.
How could they tell the difference between the snake, the inmates or the defense attorneys?
At least they freed the snake, who was the least harmful.

Metro Shoots Man Who Points Gun At Them, Liberals Go Nuts

From the Las Vegas Sun: A man was fatally shot by Metro Police behind a retail store in the central valley on Monday.
Police were called to the scene of a shooting in a parking lot outside the Ross Dress for Less store, 2420 E. Desert Inn Road, at about 3 p.m., according to Deputy Chief Kathleen O'Connor. There, officers found a homeless man who had been shot in his right hand. The assailant — whom the homeless man described to police as a white or Hispanic man — was in an alley behind the store, he said.
Officers went to the back of the store and located the suspect near the loading dock. Officers gave commands to the man, but instead of obeying them, he produced a handgun from his waistband, police said.
Three Metro officers then shot at the man "in order to stop his actions," police said. The man fell to the pavement and dropped the gun.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. A gun was located near his body, police said.
O'Connor said officers were on "heightened alert" because of the shooting in the front of the store. None of the officers was injured.  http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/oct/29/metro-investigating-officer-involved-shooting-two-/
So, a thug shoots and wounds an unarmed homeless guy and runs behind a large clothing store.  And then he confronts the cops, who tell him to drop his gun, he decides to go out in glory and points the gun at them.  At that time, the cops eliminate the thug from the DNA gene pool.
So, the liberal reactions to the story?  They go nuts.
From the comments section:
Our "brave" Metro officers executed a homeless man so they could go on paid administrative leave until our corrupt DA exonerates them of any wrongdoing whatsoever. In North Korea, if you look at a police officer wrong you get life in prison. We are heading that way ladies and gents. Now Sherriff Dizzy gets to go on his favorite talk shows and local TV to talk ad nauseum about how these oh so "brave" officers had no other choice but to open fire and kill the man, most likely planting a gun near the body after the fact to make it look better. Hurry up Metro! Better get your hands on that surveillance footage quickly, like the Costco shooting!
Don't tell me, he was "resisting arrest" right....

and
 i am shocked...
shocked i tell you...
so rare...
hardly ever happens...
NOT!!!
bottom line...
in vegas...
you are far far more likely to be killed by a cop...
than struck by lightening...
than hit by a bus...
than on and on and on...
FRICKIN JOKE!!!

and
Can't wait to here the "story" on this one. How it took three cops to take down a dangerous criminal.
And the rest of you are correct, our DA will find it justified.

and
I wonder if the "brave" officers gave the man any warning before they opened fire.
and
 i don't know what's worse...
the trigger happy police department...
or...
the pathetic civilians that seem to cheer them on...
seem to get off on the death of others...
seem to find all of these numerous killings to be justified...
FRICKIN JOKE!!!

and
My father was a police officer for a long time. So, when I hear about police brutality and police shooting citizens sometimes armed, sometimes not, I often try to hold my judgement until I hear the full story.
Then I think about my father, who never once shot anyone in over 10 years of service behind a badge...perhaps Metro needs more training on how to defuse a situation before pulling the trigger of a gun.
A life is worth more than a split seconds consideration. (They may not have had a split second)
And liberals wonder why they are not taken seriously.

Clark County Health District Stealing/Undercutting

We're from the government and we're here to steal and break rules because no one will do anything to us.
From the Las Vegas Sun:
The Southern Nevada Health District is abusing a federal vaccine program for the poor by unfairly selling the vaccines to the general public and undercutting private competitors, an antitrust complaint filed in federal court alleges.
The complaint was filed by The Vaccine Center, which offers competitive immunization programs in Las Vegas.
Jennifer Sizemore, a Health District spokeswoman, said SNHD has not yet been served with the complaint. Sizemore said she could not comment on active litigation.
Codefendants in the complaint are the drug manufacturer, GlaxoSmithKline, and Apexus Inc., the manager of the federal 340 Prime Vendor Program, which was set up by Congress to serve as a safety net for the poor and indigent.
Although SNHD’s mission is to be a “safety-net” provider to the poor and indigent, it operates a commercial business that generates millions of dollars in revenue annually by competing against private clinics and doctors for immunization services to the adult, non-Medicaid population, the complaint says.
The complaint says SNHD buys its vaccines at sharply reduced prices from GlaxoSmithKline under the 340B Program.
SNHD is skirting the regulations of the program by reselling those cheaper vaccines intended for the poor to the general population at lower costs than its competitors — a violation of the laws governing the program, the complaint says.
“SNHD has been able to crush private-sector competition, drive private medical clinics and doctors out of business and monopolize markets for fee-based immunization services,” the complaint said.
The complaint says SNHD has entered into lucrative immunization contracts with MGM Resorts Health Plan, Sands Expo and Convention Center, Silver Nugget Gaming LLC, Boulder City and the Las Vegas Hilton.   http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/oct/30/health-district-accused-undercutting-private-outfi/
If this is found to be true, then there needs to be a massive investigation and people fired.  Further, this abuses what the medication was supposed to go to- the poor.
But since this is a government agency, run by Democrats, what do you think the odds are that anything will happen.  I think you will have better odds betting that the New York Jets will win the Super Bowl this year than anything happening to anyone at the health district.

Danny Tarkanian Taking Big Lead In Poll

From the LVRJ: One week from Election Day, a new poll shows Republican Danny Tarkanian leading Democrat Steven Horsford 47 percent to 42 percent in the race for Congressional District 4 despite voter registration statistics suggesting the seat should be a shoo-in for Democrats.
It's a slight shift in Tarkanian's favor since a similar survey in September showed Tarkanian edging Horsford 45 percent to 42 percent, close enough to fall within the margin of error.
The new survey, which included likely voters as well as some respondents who had already voted, shows Tarkanian clinging to the lead despite a Democratic registration advantage among active voters of more than 40,000 . The Review-Journal and KLAS-TV commissioned the poll by SurveyUSA.
Pollsters received responses from 648 people, some of whom had already voted and others deemed "likely voters" according to SurveyUSA. The partisan breakdown was 42 percent Democrats, 32 percent Republicans and 26 percent independent. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.9 percentage points in the poll, which was taken Oct. 26-28.  http://www.lvrj.com/news/tarkanian-adds-to-lead-against-democratic-foe-176383691.html
Funny that the liberal political reporter for the LVRJ is just shocked that Tarkanian has a bigger lead.
Ann Coulter pointed out last week that liberal white voters just don't vote for blacks, even if they are Democrats, if it comes down to a black and white candidate.  I guess we may be seeing this in this swing District.

Another False Gay Attack

From jsonline: After the alleged victim recanted Monday, police are dismissing an allegation that a volunteer for a GOP congressional campaign was beaten for being a gay Republican.
As a result, the campaign of Republican Chad Lee said it was dismissing the volunteer because he had misled them about the alleged incident.
Before that Monday, the conservative website Media Trackers posted and then retracted a story that alleged that days before the attack the recanting volunteer had received threatening text messages from the husband of openly gay Democratic candidate for Congress Mark Pocan of Madison. The conservative website never checked with the Pocan campaign before running with the story.
Tamara Packard, an attorney for Philip Frank, Pocan's husband, said Monday that her client had not sent any such text messages, didn't know the victim and was considering a libel lawsuit.
The victim was not identified by Madison police but conservative media such as Media Trackers, the Daily Caller, Wisconsin Reporter, and Christian Schneider, a conservative blogger for the opinion section of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel all identified him as Kyle Wood, a volunteer for the campaign of Chad Lee, Pocan's Republican challenger.
The Madison police late Monday updated an earlier report they had released last week describing Wood's original allegation.
"In an interview this afternoon with Madison Police detectives, the victim in this case recanted his earlier statements in regards to this crime. This crime, alleged to have occurred on High Street in the South Police District, will be cleared as 'Unfounded' for case reporting purposes," the police statement read. "Once follow up investigation is completed, MPD's case file will be reviewed with the Dane County district attorney's office."
The Lee campaign put out a statement Monday night saying that Wood had been dismissed.
"Today, our campaign unfortunately learned that a deeply troubled volunteer misled police, news outlets, and our own team in regards to an attack at his home that apparently never occured," the statement read. "Our campaign dismissed Mr. Wood immediately and we will fully cooperate with the authorities as they continue with their investigation. As the Madison Police Department is investigating this matter, we cannot comment further at this time."  http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/176338211.html
How many times have we heard about attacks to gays, blacks, women and minorities and then it turns out to be false?
It makes legitimate cases of bullying and harassment less believable.  The people making these false cases need to be prosecuted for filing false police reports and sued for slander and/or libel.

He's Certainly Not A Commander In Chief

Obama Libyan Scandal Biggest Scandal Since????

From Front Page Mag: Over the weekend, the newest, and by far the most disturbing, revelations surrounding the Benghazi attack were revealed. Several sources have pointed to the possibility that a major CIA gun-running operation aimed at arming anti-Assad Al-Qaeda-affiliated forces was in danger of being exposed. If true, the information casts an even more devastating pall over the Benghazi terrorist attack and the administration’s botched handling of the region.
The decision to stand down as the Benghazi terrorist attack was underway was met with extreme opposition from the inside. The Washington Times‘s James Robbins, citing a source inside the military, reveals that General Carter Ham, commander of U.S. Africa Command, who got the same emails requesting help received by the White House, put a rapid response team together and notified the Pentagon it was ready to go. He was ordered to stay put. “His response was to screw it, he was going to help anyhow,” writes Robbins. “Within 30 seconds to a minute after making the move to respond, his second in command apprehended General Ham and told him that he was now relieved of his command.”
If true, Ham has apparently decided he wants no part of the responsibility for the decision not to help those in harm’s way. He is not alone. As the Weekly Standard‘s Bill Kristol revealed late Friday, a spokesperson, “presumably at the direction of CIA director David Petraeus,” released the following statement: ”No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate.”
Obama himself is stonewalling. During a Friday interview in Denver, the president revealed he was determined to postpone any revelation about Benghazi until after the election. “The election has nothing to do with four brave Americans getting killed and us wanting to find out exactly what happened,” said Obama in answer to questions about possible denials of aid, and whether it’s fair that Americans will have to wait until after the election to find out the results of an investigation. On Saturday, Obama upped the ante, telling ”Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough that “if we find out there was a big breakdown and somebody didn’t do their job, they’ll be held accountable. Ultimately as Commander-in-Chief I am responsible and I don’t shy away from that responsibility.”
Several sources have come up with explosive answers accounting for the administration’s reticence.
According to WND’s Aaron Klein, “Egyptian security officials” revealed that Ambassador Christopher Stevens “played a central role in recruiting jihadists to fight Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria.” Stevens was reportedly a key contact for Saudi Arabian officials, who wanted to recruit fighters from North Africa and Libya, and send them to Syria by way of Turkey. The recruits were ostensibly screened by U.S. security organizations, and anyone thought to have engaged in fighting against Americans, including those who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, were not sent to engage Assad’s regime.  http://frontpagemag.com/2012/arnold-ahlert/arming-jihadists-backfires-in-benghazi/
If, by chance, Obama is re-elected, I can see an impeachment coming our way.

To Mr. Capper, Please Read

Last week, the CEO of Rite Hite, a Wisconsin company wrote an e-mail to his employees about some possible consequences if President Obama was re-elected:.http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2012/10/ceo-lets-employees-know-consequences-of.html
Mind you, the guy never told the employees how to vote, who to vote for, threatened them or any other sanctions.  He just wanted to let the employees what might happen if Obama is elected and his policies are enacted.
From a law professor at Marquette Law School in Milwaukee, WI, Rick Esenberg:
But I am going to weigh in on the notion that sending such an e-mail should be regarded as illegal. I would write the post had any other company been involved.

Let’s go to the law. Sec. 12.07(3) of the statutes provides:

No employer or agent of an employer may distribute to any employee printed matter containing any threat, notice or information that if a particular ticket of a political party or organization or candidate is elected or any referendum question is adopted or rejected, work in the employer's place or establishment will cease, in whole or in part, or the place or establishment will be closed, or the salaries or wages of the employees will be reduced, or other threats intended to influence the political opinions or actions of the employees. (Emphasis supplied)

By its own terms, the statute does not apply to the Rite Hite e-mail. The law is expressly limited to unqualified commitments (statements that something "will" happen) and comparable statements ("other threats"). The e-mail did not say that the anything "will" happen or make any other "threat." It outlined the ways in which potential Obama policies might affect the company and how those impacts could harm its employees. In fact, the e-mail made clear that no employee would be prejudiced by the way in which he or she voted.

I appreciate that some will argue that the statute should be read broadly to "implied" threats or statements of probability. That won't happen. Criminal statutes are to be narrowly construed and, as we have seen, the this law simply doesn't apply here.
But even the law could be stretched to cover the mere communication of political opinion, it would be unconstitutional.

In our country, we have a very strong presumption against punishing speech. We allow for very few - and quite limited - exceptions. Courts are especially protective of core political speech, i.e., statements about issues and candidates. They are rigorously suspicious of any restrictions based on the content of speech. Restrictions on the content of core political speech are almost never upheld and, if they are to survive, must be narrowly tailored to serve the most compelling of state interests.
A statement of opinion from an employer to an employee where the employer will have no way of knowing how any employee voted doesn’t even come close to the type of thing that would justify the suppression of political speech http://sharkandshepherd.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-first-amendment-applies-to-employees.html
But, hey, the Rite Hite CEO is a conservative so the the constitution really doesn't apply to him, does it?
So, to my friend capper, please read this and we will wait for your apology.

Romney Makes Obama Cry Like A Little Baby

From the Washington Examiner: The single biggest theme of President Obama’s reelection campaign has been a misleading attack-and-brag regarding the auto bailouts.
Obama and his partymates have attacked Romney a hundred times on the grounds that Romney wrote an op-ed with the headline “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt.” The implication of this attack is very clear:
(1) Obama didn’t let Detroit go bankrupt. and (2) Romney wanted to liquidate the failed automakers.
Both claims are false. And I’m not inferring too much here — Obama has made both of these false claims explicitly. “We didn’t let Detroit go bankrupt,” Obama said in a June fundraiser in Baltimore. “We refused to let Detroit go bankrupt,” Obama said in his radio address two weeks ago....
These days, it’s Romney who’s playing fast and loose on the auto industry. You see, after Obama gave Chrysler to an Italian company, Fiat, corporate management said they would start building some Jeeps in China. They never said they would move any jobs out of the Jeep plant in Toledo, but that seems like the implication Romney is trying to give off in the ad — and he has asserted as much explicitly as least once.
So now the Obama campaign, which has been blatantly and constantly misleading on auto industry stuff, has taken to full-time condemnation of this “outrageous lie.” The liberal media has joined in the chorus of righteous condemnation, and the mainstream has picked up the Obama campaign’s gripes.
Give Obama this — he’s good at working the refs.  http://washingtonexaminer.com/romney-employs-obama-tactics-on-autos.-obama-cries-foul./article/2512048#.UI9HKmc8VXs
And Obama is soooo hurt by the accusations: From the Weekly Standard: "I saw the reports of Governor Romney's latest ad saying that the president had allowed Jeep to move to China," said Clinton. "And so this morning, before he left Florida and went back to Washington, he said, 'You know, of all the things Governor Romney has said that probably hurts my feelings the most.'   http://weeklystandard.com/blogs/clinton-obamas-feeling-hurt-over-jeep-ad_658105.html
And then Obama, the classy person he is, lies about it:  He said, 'You know, I never had any money when I was a kid. and the first new car I ever owned I was 30 years old it was a Jeep.'"
As an aside, it's Interesting that, according an old USA Today report, Obama's first (used) car was a Ford Granada.
Like many men, President Obama has fond memories of his first car -- even if it was a Ford Granada."I have to confess; my first car was my grandfather's car," Obama told AAA in an interview. "Which was a Ford Granada."Then, it appears, Obama owned a red Fiat.  “Before returning to Hawaii, Stan bought his grandson a present: a beat-up old red Fiat that they found at a Los Angeles used car lot,” writes David Maraniss in Barack Obama: The Story.
Then, Maraniss details Obama had a Honda Civic.  “Before leaving New York, Obama spent two thousand dollars on a blue Honda Civic that he would drive into the heartland to start his new life.”
Do we have a president in office now or a girly man?

Las Vegas Metro Police Radio System Bombs

From the LVRJ: It was a multimillion-dollar mistake. And the timing couldn't be worse.
After two years of battling dropped calls and dead zones in the department's new radio system, Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie has opted to drop Desert Sky.
On Oct. 11, Gillespie informed the CEO of the Harris Corp. that his company's Desert Sky radio system cannot meet his department's needs. That's a sharp change from past statements and advice to officers to remain patient while system bugs are fixed.
"I believe we've given Harris every opportunity to make the system work," Gillespie said. "It's just not a reliable system."
Unveiled in the summer of 2010, the $42 million Desert Sky digital system - based on Harris' OpenSky system marketed to emergency service agencies nationwide - was touted as having expanded channel capacities, enabling advanced data communications for computers in patrol cars and other features unavailable with the agency's aging analog system.
Desert Sky's data capabilities have seen mixed results, but the voice communication between officers is the bigger problem. While improved in the past two years, the system still is not up to snuff for an agency whose officers talk on the radio 50,000 times every day, the sheriff said.  http://www.lvrj.com/news/police-dump-radio-system-176220091.html
This is mostly a federal government problem.  years ago, they demanded that police, fire and other government agencies go to another type of radio system and frequencies but they ordered it with out having the technology.
This is not unique in Clark County as Nye County is also having the same problem:
In his report to commissioners last week, Hatfield, who leaves the county to return to Ohio at the end of the year, disclosed these problems with the new truncated system:
* The VHF radio system has interference from Valley Electric Association power lines in Pahrump;
* Reception inside buildings is poor or non-existent;
* The trunked radio system has never been turned on in Amargosa Valley and frequencies obtained for Amargosa Valley interfere with frequencies in Pahrump;
* Nye County was loaned 800 megahertz radio for better reception, but they won’t work anywhere outside of Pahrump;
* The microwave link between Sawtooth Mountain and Beatty dispatch is lost on a regular basis;
* Antennas twice fell off telephone poles atop Mount Brock above Tonopah, where the radio frequencies there also interfere with other frequencies;
* Equipment atop Montezuma Peak between Goldfield and Tonopah need to be moved to a better location for better coverage;   http://pvtimes.com/news/demeo-under-fire-over-radio-contracts/
And if the sheriff's in Nye or Clark County only read up on the problems of Open Sky, they would have found out all the problems that are going on through out the country.
And where to read about some problems?
Well, I had information before they turned on the system in January 2011: http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2011/01/las-vegas-metro-going-to-open-sky.html
And: http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2011/04/nye-county-becomes-closer-to-having.html
When the Sheriff's run in their next election, I am sure this will be a campaign issue.

While The Media Goes Nuts, Sandy Goes Flop

Other than some flooding, some electricity lines and pole being blown down, some trees being blown over, Sandy has been pretty much a flop.
I listen to the police scanner from Long Island (Suffolk and Nassaua Counties) and they were responding to to mostly electric wires down, trees down and an occasional auto accident.  There was some flooding along the coast.
Apparently, one person died in Maryland car crash.  I bet that on a normal day, there are plenty more fatal accidents in the area.
To most of us, this is nothing more than a severe thunderstorm or high pressure systems with strong wind.
Yeah, it sucks to be in it, but there are people out in the storm:
From ABC:

An inspirational picture making the rounds on the Internet today is reminding people of the service of the elite soldiers who guard Arlington Cemetery’s Tomb of the Unknowns in any kind of weather, even during Hurricane Sandy.   That the picture was actually taken in September is another matter, because even as Hurricane Sandy makes its way along the Eastern seaboard, soldiers are there, guarding the tomb in the fierce wind and rain.
Tomb Sentinels from the Army’s 3rd Infantry Regiment’s “The Old Guard” have guarded the Tomb for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year regardless of the weather, since 1948.
A photo of three Tomb Sentinels standing at attention before the Tomb of the Unknowns in a driving rain in what is supposed to be Hurricane Sandy took the Internet by storm today, but it turns out the photo was actually  taken on Sept. 18.   It is one in a series taken that day by photographer Karin Markert and posted on a photo sharing site.

Tonight, there are two rerun episodes of Pawn Stars.
The first episode first aired on January 2, 2012: http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2012/01/pawn-stars-review-january-2-2012.html
The second episode was first aired a couple weeks later on January 16, 2012: http://lasvegasbadger.blogspot.com/2012/01/pawn-stars-review-january-16-2012.html
Thanks for stopping by and have a safe and fairly dry week.

San Francisco Giants Win World Series

From the San Francisco Chronicle: They say the best team does not always win the World Series. Sometimes the hottest team swoops in and flies away with the trophy.
Baseball lovers across the world can spend the months between now and spring training arguing whether the Giants were the best in 2012, or whether they merely had the hottest hand when all of the chips were in the middle of the table.
The Giants can be forgiven for not joining the debate, at least not now. They are too busy celebrating San Francisco's second championship in three seasons, which they went overtime to clinch on a frigid Sunday night at Comerica Park.
They won 4-3 when Marco Scutaro, the little Giant whom teammates call "Blockbuster," hit a two-out RBI single against Phil Coke. Sergio Romo struck out the side - finishing with a called third strike on Miguel Cabrera - to set off a celebration in San Francisco the likes of which the city has not seen in oh, about two years.
They also completed a four-game sweep that sounds as implausible as the three-win comebacks against the Reds and Cardinals that kept their now-historic season alive.
No question the Giants were not. They won their final seven games, longer than any winning streak they enjoyed in a 94-win regular season.
The Giants' achievement is rare in an era of improved parity and expanded playoffs. The joined the Yankees, Marlins, Cardinals and Red Sox as the only teams to win multiple World Series since the playoff field was doubled from four to eight teams in 1995.
The Giants had a heck of a run and got hot at the right time of the season and now they are the champions.

Armageddon Soon On East Coast

Excuse me if I yawn about Sandy.  If you read what the media is saying and the weather people, you will think the world will end in the next few days.
Here is why I think that the storm will be bad but not that bad.
First, I've followed hurricanes in the past and it seems that every time there is a cold front approaching a storm in the Atlantic, the Atlantic storm is usually blown further out to sea and the storm is not so bad.
Second, while the people who live beach side and maybe a few blocks in from the Ocean, the flooding and winds will be bad, those inland shouldn't have a lotof damage.
Third, the media will focus on a few dead trees that were uprooted, a few streets by rivers that are flooded and a few houses that are damaged but the vast majority of people will not have damage to their homes, apartments, streets or businesses.
Yes, there will be electrical outages in some areas.  Maybe it's time to put the electric lines under the ground?
And finally, after the storm ends, the media will praise the federal government and what a wonderful job they did to keep people safe.
Yeah, I'm a cynic.
Meanwhile, in Las Vegas, it's going to be 80 degrees, sunny, no humidity and no wind tomorrow.
.

Hey, Obama, You Ever Hear Of Reno?

Like a reoccurring nightmare, President Obama is coming back to Las Vegas on Thursday to have another Tiger Woods moment.  He was just here on Wednesday.
From the Las Vegas Sun:
President Barack Obama will visit Las Vegas on Thursday as part of a swing through three battleground states, the Obama campaign said.
Obama also will visit Boulder, Colo., and Springfield, Ohio, for grassroots events before campaigning throughout Ohio on Friday.
The Obama campaign hasn't released details about the president's Las Vegas visit, which was announced Sunday.  http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/oct/28/obama-will-visit-las-vegas-10th-time-year/
10 times just this year and several times more in years past.  Reminds me of this guy:

Big Earthquake, Tsunami Warnings

From the Honolulu Advertiser:

Tsunami warning sirens have sounded across Hawaii and people in inundation zones should  evacuate immediately, officials said. The tsunami warning was issued for Hawaii in the wake of a 7.7-magnitude earthquake off British Columbia tonight.
State Civil Defense is urging residents to move to higher ground if they are in a tsunami evacuation zone. The first waves could arrive as soon as 10:28 p.m., said the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Ewa Beach.
Officials warn that there could be several waves and waves could still impact the islands hours after the initial wave.
The center is predicting wave heights of 3 to 6 feet in some locations. The biggest waves are expected in Hilo, Kahului, Haleiwa and Hanalei. Kahului could get 6-foot waves or surges, officials said.
"It now looks like we'll be up over danger levels," said Chip McCreary, the director of the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. Danger level is considered about 3 feet about sea level.
McCreary said the waves will be smaller than the waves that hit Hawaii from last year's Japan earthquake.
The  entire north shore of all islands and windward side of Oahu could see some tsunami impact. McCreery said Kahului is their biggest worry....
John Cummings, spokesman for the city Department of Emergency Management, said residents along coastlines can also vertically evacuate if they are in a concrete- or steel-reinforced structure of six or more stories.
Cummings said residents should evacuate to the third floor or higher. He also said it's unclear how severe the tsunami may be. "We could have a big wave or we could have six-inch wave. We just don't know yet," he said. "This is an unusual area for us to have a tsunami come from."
He warned that all shorelines are expected to be affected by waves because of a "wraparound effect." Meanwhile, police have begun to close roads, blocking entry to coastal areas.
Cummings said there are reports of "really bad" traffic in some areas, apparently as residents evacuate from shorelines. He said it appears people who need not evacuate are also getting on roadways.  http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/breaking/176136301.html?id=176136301
I'm watching CNN and Fox News and we are seeing a huge traffic jam in Honolulu and baby waves are hitting the coast.
They are predicting 3-6 foot waves, but right now, the waves are smaller than a baby doing a cannon ball dive from a diving board, in a swimming pool.
My guess is that nothing is going to happen.

Obama October/November Surprise?

From the San Diego Times Union: Amid mounting concern over Iran’s nuclear program and violence elsewhere in the region, U.S. Central Command quietly dispatched a Marine fighter jet squadron from San Diego to an undisclosed country in the Middle East, U-T San Diego has learned.
The deployment follows threats by the U.S. and Israel of military strikes if needed to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.
At the same time, the conflict in Syria is threatening to drag Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan into war, Iraq is beset by renewed violence, and terrorist groups hoping to capitalize on political upheaval in the region covet Syria’s chemical weapons and Libyan arms.
Against this tense geopolitical backdrop, aviation spotters tracked a dozen jets from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 314, an F/A-18 Hornet squadron based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, en route in late September through Europe.
The heavily armed jets — capable of firing 2,000-pound laser-guided bombs, cluster munitions, air-to-air missiles and a six-barrel 20 mm gun — are used for a variety of missions, including ground attack, escort, enemy air defense suppression, reconnaissance and close air support of ground forces.
U.S. Central Command and the Marine command in the region declined to say which country the squadron deployed to or to comment in detail on its mission, citing political and security sensitivities of the host nation and its neighbors.....
Meanwhile, the U.S. is also maintaining two aircraft carrier strike groups in the region longer than planned and deploying additional units such as the Miramar fighter squadron as both deterrent and potential response if Iran comes close to developing nuclear weapons or threatens oil supplies, analysts said.
Stratfor, an intelligence and geopolitics news service, noted the deployment of VMFA-314 and reported that an Air Force F-22 Raptor squadron had deployed earlier this year to the Persian Gulf. Given “the fluid conflicts in North Africa, Syria and Afghanistan, as well as the current tensions with Iran,” Stratfor concluded that “the United States ... could simply be positioning military assets in a region that is rife with conflict and that may eventually require rapid military intervention or action.”
Can we say "Wag The Dog"?  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wag_the_Dog

Is Notre Dame For Real?

Now that my beloved Wisconsin Badgers football team is going down the crapper this season, I have to pick another favorite college football team and this year it is Notre Dame.
they are undefeated at 8-0 and today traveled to Oklahoma and laid down a smackdown to the Sooners, 30-13.
From the Chicago Sun Times: It all changes now for Notre Dame. Saturday night’s defining 30-13 victory over Oklahoma — no, at Oklahoma — speeds everything up. It’s no longer about wondering if Everett Golson is ready to handle being the quarterback at Notre Dame; it’s about wondering just how good he can be. It’s no longer about avoiding the noise; it’s about making a lot of it. And it’s no longer about going to a BCS bowl game; it’s about going to the BCS bowl game — the national championship game.
Golson, Notre Dame’s beleaguered redshirt freshman quarterback, coming off a concussion that forced him to sit out last week, took command of the huddle with nine minutes to go in the fourth quarter. The record crowd of 86,031 at Memorial Stadium was shaking down its own thunder after the Sooners’ dormant offense woke up and tied the game 13-13 on Blake Bell’s one-yard touchdown run — the first rushing touchdown surrendered by Notre Dame all season. But Golson, who admitted to succumbing to the pressure at home against Michigan, a game in which he was yanked in the second quarter, came into his own on the next drive.
His beautiful 50-yard pass to Chris Brown over the top set the Irish up at the Oklahoma 15. And after stalling out in the red zone all day — heck, all season — Golson hit Theo Riddick and Tyler Eifert to set up third-and-goal from the 1, then shoved his way into the end zone, shoving Notre Dame into the national championship conversation.
It’s a shocking development. Shocking because the Irish (8-0) entered the season facing an unbeatable schedule with a presumably beatable secondary and a rookie quarterback. Shocking because the Irish entered this game as 11-point underdogs, nothing more than high-profile fodder for Oklahoma’s offensive threshing machine. And shocking because, well, the Irish looked absolutely overmatched early on.  http://www.suntimes.com/16004334-761/notre-dame-beats-oklahoma-30-13-to-improve-to-8-0.html
They have a pretty good chance in having a perfect season as their next opponents are Pittsburgh, Boston College, Wake Forest and USC.
It's nice to see the Fighting Irish have a very good season so far,

There are A Lot Of Names I Can Call Obama But....

I would never call Obama, or anyone else a retard, as Ann Coulter the other day.
From the New York Daily News:
Ann Coulter is unfazed by the onslaught of criticism she received for calling President Obama a "retard."
The conservative pundit told Alan Colmes of Fox News Radio that the people who denounced her glib usage of the R word were "liberal bullies."
"Look, no one would refer to a Down's syndrome child, someone with an actual mental handicap, by saying 'retard,'" Coulter said.
"Where do you think the words imbecile, idiot, moron, cretin come from?" she asked. "These were all technical terms at one time. Retard has been used colloquially to just mean 'loser' for 30 years."
Liberal commentator Colmes countered that many Americans consider the R word deeply offensive, reported The Washington Times.
But Coulter would not budge.
"Screw them!" she said, "You just cannot go around saying this and that word is offensive. I'm sick of this."
STEPHENS SHAMES COULTER
The controversy arose when Coulter tweeted, "I highly approve of Romney's decision to be kind and gentle to the retard," after the most recent presidential debate.
In one sense, Coulter is right in the sense that the word "retard" is a term that has been around for many years and it has changed meaning from describing people with mental disabilities.
And Coulter is a fire breather who doesn't back down and she loves controversy.
However, to me, the word is offensive because I work with kids with intellectual disabilities.  When I hear kids say the word "retard", I try and correct them into using a different word.
And the liberals are all hot and bothered by Coulter's comment.  Were they all hot and bothered when all the hate was directed at George Bush.  When they used the "R" word against Bush, how many liberals protested? 1? 2? Or maybe 0? Yeah, I go with choice C.
Like I said, I could recite a few names I would like to call Obama, but I wouldn't use the "R" word.

I Thought Obama Was The Great Healer

From the San Francisco Chronicle: Racial attitudes have not improved in the four years since the United States elected its first black president, an Associated Press poll finds, as a slight majority of Americans now express prejudice toward blacks whether they recognize those feelings or not.
Those views could cost President Barack Obama votes as he tries for re-election, the survey found, though the effects are mitigated by some people's more favorable views of blacks.
Racial prejudice has increased slightly since 2008 whether those feelings were measured using questions that explicitly asked respondents about racist attitudes, or through an experimental test that measured implicit views toward race without asking questions about that topic directly.
In all, 51 percent of Americans now express explicit anti-black attitudes, compared with 48 percent in a similar 2008 survey. When measured by an implicit racial attitudes test, the number of Americans with anti-black sentiments jumped to 56 percent, up from 49 percent during the last presidential election. In both tests, the share of Americans expressing pro-black attitudes fell.
Personally, I think the poll is full of crap and I wonder why they didn't do a poll about Black's and Hispanic's feelings toward other racial groups and I would think that you will find the same results.
Do I think there are racists out there?  Sure.  Do I think the majority of people have blatant racial views?  No, I don't.
But even if the poll numbers are true, wasn't Obama supposed to the healer instead of being the great divider?

Another Difference Between Democrats And Republicans

Yesterday, Crybaby/Coward Harry reid was involved in a car accident when his entourage crashed into one another on the I-15 in Las Vegas.
Reid's wife was in town and was about to give a speech introducing Michelle Obama at a local middle school.  When Reid's wife was notified of the accident, she did what all good Democratic wife's would do- she continued to give the speech, accident be damned.
Sen. Marco Rubio was campaigning with Mitt Romney when he learned his daughter was in a car accident.
From the Chicago Tribune: U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, who was campaigning in his home state of Florida with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, left the campaign on Saturday to be with his 12-year-old daughter after she was injured in a car accident in Miami.
Rubio, a rising star in theRepublican Party, had just finished taking part in a campaign rally with Romney in Kissimmee when he was told about the accident involving his daughter, Amanda.
"Senator Rubio's daughter was involved in a motor vehicle accident earlier today in Miami," said Rubio spokesman Alex Conant. "She was airlifted to Miami Children's hospital. She is in stable condition."
Romney's motorcade, which was en route to Land O'Lakes from Kissimmee, pulled over on the highway in Lakewood Crest and Rubio got out. He left in a state trooper patrol car and went to Miami to be with his daughter.

One believes in family values and the other family couldn't care less about family.
The Reid family couldn't care less about Coward/Crbaby Reid.
The Rubio family believes in family.
Another difference between Democrats and Republicans.
