From the New York Daily News: It may not completely resemble a scene from Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds," but a large flock of "creepy" vultures are making some North Carolina residents nervous.Dozens of the scavenging birds have been spotted flying over homes in a Shelby, N.C., neighborhood, WSOC-TV in North Carolina reported.
Vultures don't attack children or small animals, but they are scaring pets and making the local human population anxious. Residents are worried about the damage the vultures (and their droppings) can do to their property.
"Just circling in like big, big packs and they are like big, big birds," resident Jordan Walker told WSOC-TV.
"It makes me feel kind of creepy," Ann McEntire said. "I just wish there were some way to tell them to leave."
The turkey vultures normally pass through Shelby while migrating south for the winter, but apparently have been lured by the unusually warm temperatures.
State agriculture agents told WSOC-TV that the birds were attracted to dead trees in a certain neighborhood of the city. Removing the trees may discourage the vultures from staying.

Well, if you are in your 80's or thinking of committing suicide, seeing the vultures may not be a good sign for you.
