From the LVRJ:
A Maserati driven by Las Vegas rapper Kenneth Cherry, known as Kenny Clutch, was the target of a drive-by shooting on the Strip Thursday morning that left Cherry and two innocent bystanders dead.
Las Vegas police said several occupants of a black Range Rover fired into the Maserati at about 4:30 a.m. at Las Vegas Boulevard South and Flamingo Road following a dispute in the valet parking area of the Aria.
The Maserati ran a red light at Flamingo and crashed into a taxi, which exploded. The cab's driver and a passenger were killed, their bodies burned beyond recognition.
Sgt. John Sheahan said the driver of the Maserati was fatally shot. A passenger in Clutch's car suffered an arm injury and was taken to University Medical Center. He was cooperating with police.
The suspects had evaded capture as of late Thursday afternoon.
Cherry's music videos on YouTube show the rapper driving around the Strip in his Maserati.
A friend said Cherry was a father of two children and wasn't a gang member. He only had speeding tickets on his record, said the friend, who asked not to be named. http://www.lvrj.com/news/three-dead-after-shooting-leads-to-mutli-vehicle-accident-on-strip-192273091.html
KXNT radio says that this dispute may have involved Suge Knight, though they did not offer much evidence of this.
It sucks that a guy just started his shift as a taxi driver and then he literally is blown up by a bunch of thugs. Same with his passenger who probably was a tourist enjoying Las Vegas.
As far as the rapper, I'm going to withhold judgment, one way or the other. He may have been totally innocent or he may have been involved in a more sinister way.
I know the cops are going all out to find the thugs that killed these three people because their creditability is at stake and the perception that the Las Vegas Strip is a dangerous place to be will go viral.
Most locals don't visit the Strip, unless they are new to the area or for a special occasion. The reason why locals don't visit the Strip is because it is too crowded and because the violence that happens there.
So, RIP to the taxi driver and his passenger.
