From the Chicago Tribune: One of two men being robbed was shot and seriously wounded on the Far South Side this afternoon during an incident that a motorist tried to thwart by running into one of the two assailants, police said.
No one was arrested as of late Wednesday.
The shooting happened about 2:30 p.m. in the 9500 block of South Clyde Avenue, said police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss.
The man was shot in the buttocks and taken Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious-to-critical condition, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.
A 22-year-old man told police he and the man shot, who police said is 24, were walking north at the intersection of 96th and Clyde when two males confronted them, according to a police report.
The fire department said the man shot is 25.
One told the younger man: “Don’t run or I’ll just start shooting. Gimme what you got,’’ the report said.
As the robber took the younger victim’s white iPhone, his companion was also being robbed and was fighting with the second assailant who shot the older man in the right buttock, the report said.
When the 22-year-old heard a shot, he started running north on Clyde, passing a witness who told police she knew one of the victims and had gotten behind the wheel of her station wagon, jumped the curb and hit one of the robbers with the vehicle to try and stop him, the report said. After hitting him, she jumped out and started hitting him with her fists.
When police got to the scene, they saw the man shot lying in a pool of blood on a sidewalk and the station wagon was parked on a front lawn, the report said. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-police-report-jeffery-manor-shooting-20130213,0,1918725.story
Thank goodness the lady did what she did because she may have saved other people from this thug she hit.
But President Obama heard about this, he waddled up and down the hallway, trying to think of a way to outlaw cars so they would hurt a key part of Obama's constituency- the criminal element.
