Pawn Stars Review: October 31, 2013

Happy Halloween and hope everyone had a nice Halloween and got pretty of candy.

In the first episode, the first guy brought in a metal Coca-Cola school crossing sign from the 1950's and weighed about 100 pounds.  The guy wanted $5000.  There was rust on the back, so it wasn't it in the greatest shape and Rick offered $400.  The guy went to $3000 and there was no sale.
The story line is that the store brought in an efficiency expert.  They brought in a fast talker, Brad Sugars.  http://www.bradsugars.com/  /among other things they talked about cross training the different employees.  Chumlee wanted a bunch of free stuff like a ping pong tables, nap stations and free food.  Chumlee converted a desk into a ping pong table and a relaxation room.  The acting was really, really bad in this segment.
Colt Dragoon Mod 1848.JPG
The next guy brought in a Colt Dragon pistol.  The gubn had a name on it, J.P. Coles.  The guy wanted $13,000. Time for an expert, Craig.  He said the was the gun was legitimate and worth about $8500.  The seller went down to $12,400 and Corey offered $9000 and no sale.
The next guy had  a Muhammad Ali picture, a picture painted by Ali.  It was a picture of a ship going through a channel, on a river, with a lighthouse.  The guy wanted $5000,  It did have Ali's signature and it was time for an expert.  The expert said the painting/print was real and it was worth about $1000,  Rick offered $600 and the guy came down to $800.  Rick offered $700 and that was the sale price.
In the 2nd episode, they were talking about Halloween and what costumes to wear.  Turns out the old Man doesn't like going under ladders and Corey is afraid of trees.
Speaking of Corey, he is starting to grow a beard.
Corey and Chumlee were the Blue Brothers and Rick was some guy from Breaking bad.  Corey came as Beavis and Butthead.  Corey then went as Peter Griffin, the Old Man was spider Man and Rick went as Bruce Willis in Die Hard.
dek
The first lady brought in a 1977 Mattel football game.  I had this game when I was a kid.  The seller kind of looks like Ashley from Hard Core Pawn.  The lady wanted $90 and Rick offered $25.  The lady offered $75 and Rick went to $40.  The lady went to $45 and that was the sale price and the game was Ricks, for himself.
File:1933 Plymouth coupe.JPG
The next guy brought in a 1933 Plymouth.  all the parts were there and the guy wanted $30,000.  Time for an expert.  Steve came as the expert- no more Danny.  They took a drive in the car but the owner would not let anybody drive it.  Corey thought that was suspicious.  I saw a car like this on the highway this afternoon, though I don't think this was the car.  Steve said there was a hiccup in the engine.  Steve said the car was worth about $25,000.  The guy wanted $20,000 and the Old Man offered $16,000.  The guy went down to $18,500 and the Old Man offered $18,000 and that was the sale price.

The next guy brought in a 1800's Derringer pistol.  The guy wanted $5000 and Rick offered $600 because it was missing pieces.  The guy then went to $4000 and Rick offered $850 and there was no sale.
That ends another 2 new episodes.  I hope you have had a Happy Halloween and thanks for stopping by.

Oneida Complain About Washington Redskins But....

The Oneida Indians are a bunch of racists themselves.
The Oneida Indians have claimed that the Washington Redskins are a bad racist name.
From ESPN:
Representatives of the Oneida Indian Nation on Wednesday asked NFL executives to sanction Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder for conduct detrimental to the league for continuing to use a team nickname and mascot that "promote a dictionary-defined racial slur."
In the 90-minute meeting between Oneida Nation representatives and three senior league executives in New York City, the officials also asked for all team owners to meet with Oneida leaders the week of Super Bowl XLVIII. And they asked that Snyder and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who was traveling Wednesday and did not attend the meeting, visit Oneida Nation homelands in upstate New York.
But the Oneida representatives left disappointed, saying after the meeting with senior NFL executives Jeff Pash, Adolpho Birch and Paul Hicks that the league "defended the use of a racist name," Oneida spokesman Joel Barkin said.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9903563/oneida-nation-meets-nfl-leadership-seek-washington-redskins-name-mascot-change
And from the Oneida, WI. school web site: You need not be an Oneida member to enroll in our schools, however you do need to show one quarter Native American ancestry.   Funding for our schools come from the Bureau of Indian Education and the Oneida Nation Tribe of Wisconsin.  http://www.oneidanation.org/schools/
So, the Oneida's claim that the Redskin name is discriminatory all the while they are discriminating against non-Indians who may want to go to their school.
Can we say hypocrites and seriously, who cares what the Oneidas think about the Washington Redskins?

Trick Or Treating: Las Vegas Is Not Wimpy

File:Trick or treat in sweden.jpeg
Tomorrow is Halloween and in Las Vegas, the hours are about 5:30 to 9:30..at night.
So, our trick or treaters go out at night and in the dark and during the middle of the week.
None of this wimpy trick or treating during the weekends and during daylight hours.
Just be careful of these little goblins that will be running around.

Pro Football Picks: Week 9

Last week, I put out my picks for week 8 of the NFL season and I went 3 and 2, which isn't too bad considering when I listen to ESPN radio, some of their "experts" only went 1-4 or 2-3.
So, here are my picks and feel free to comment on them or make your own predictions:
Favorite         Point Spread       Opponent    My Choice       Results
Kansas City          3                     Buffalo       Kansas City    win
Tennessee             2.5                  St. Louis      St. Louis  loss
Seattle                   16                   Tampa Bay   Seattle  loss
New England        7                    Pittsburg      New England  win
Baltimore              2.5                 Cleveland    Baltimore  loss
Green Bay             12                   Chicago       Green Bay loss

So, here are my picks and of course, this is for entertainment purposes.
Update: I went 2 wins and 4 losses, so I am now 5 wins and 6 losses for the past 2 weeks.  Still not too bad compared to some "experts".

Detroit Lenders Stealing From Pensioners
From Fox News: It was the politicians, and not longtime city workers like Olivia Gillon, who brought Detroit to the brink of insolvency, but now Gillon can only watch as lawyers negotiating the Motor City's bankruptcy bid place a new value on her hard-earned pension: 16 cents on the dollar.
The beleaguered city, facing debt of as much as $20 billion and led by a state-appointed manager, tried nearly a year ago to renegotiate with creditors. When those talks broke down, the city filed for bankruptcy last July, but the filing was ruled unconstitutional by a judge. A series of state and federal rulings followed, culminating in a trial that began last week in which the city must show it is eligible to enter bankruptcy. That's when the frightening magnitude of the "haircut" being sought for some 21,000 retirees emerged.
“It’s wrong on every possible level,” Gillon, 68, told FoxNews.com. “I earned my pension. I retired expecting it and I feel that I should have it.”...
But for a retiree counting on a modest annual pension of, say $30,000, the proposed cut would leave him or her with $4,800. Of all the once-proud city's creditors, including banks, vendors and bondholders, retired workers are the least able to take the hit, said Gillon.   http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/10/30/detroit-bankruptcy-proposal-would-leave-pensioners-with-16-cents-on-dollar/?intcmp=latestnews
This is just the tip of the ice berg.  There are going many more bankruptcies around the country, with the biggest probably being in California, where they cannot sustain their pension plan.  It's also true that Social Security cannot sustain itself over the long haul.
Try to live on $4800 a year whole the major creditors, like the banks, will get most of their money that is owed them.
But hey, the pensioners can go on ObamaCare, collect food stamps and become wards of the State.

Seriously?

Security Threat To United States?
Why would they want to spy on a bunch of old Cardinals?  Maybe someone gambling put money on who would be the new Pope?
From The Telegraph: The National Security Agency spied on the future Pope Francis before and during the Vatican conclave at which he was chosen to succeed Benedict XVI, it was claimed on Wednesday.
The American spy agency monitored telephone calls made to and from the residence in Rome where the then Archbishop Jorge Mario Bergoglio stayed during the conclave, the secret election at which cardinals chose him as pontiff on March 13.
The claims were made by Panorama, an Italian weekly news magazine, which said that the NSA monitored the telephone calls of many bishops and cardinals at the Vatican in the lead-up to the conclave, which was held amid tight security in the Sistine Chapel.
The information gleaned was then reportedly divided into four categories — “leadership intentions”, “threats to financial system”, “foreign policy objectives” and “human rights”.
At that time, Benedict XVI was Pope, suggesting that the Vatican may also have been monitored during the last few weeks of his papacy.  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/italy/10415228/US-spied-on-future-Pope-Francis-during-Vatican-conclave.html
Seriously, what threat do the Cardinals have against the United States?
Their Swiss Army pope guards?

Too Bad This Didn't Come Out Earlier

It's a shame that the liberal media is reporting the failure of Obama and ObamaCare and not before the 2012 election, even though the evidence was out there that ObamaCare would be a disaster.
From the Washington Post and their Fact Checker: That means that no matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise to the American people: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health-care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health-care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.”
– President Obama, speech to the American Medical Association, June 15, 2009 (as the health-care law was being written.)
“And if you like your insurance plan, you will keep it.  No one will be able to take that away from you.  It hasn’t happened yet.  It won’t happen in the future.”
– Obama, remarks in Portland, April 1, 2010, after the health-care law was signed into law.
“FACT: Nothing in #Obamacare forces people out of their health plans. No change is required unless insurance companies change existing plans.”
tweet by Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, Oct. 28, 2013, after NBC News airs a report that the Obama administration knew “millions” could not keep their health insurance.....
The law did allow “grandfathered” plans — for people who had obtained their insurance before the law was signed on March 23, 2010 — to escape this requirement and some other aspects of the law. But the regulations written by HHS while implementing the law set some tough guidelines, so that if an insurance company makes changes to a plan’s benefits or how much members pay through premiums, co-pays or deductibles, then a person’s plan likely loses that status.
If you dig into the regulations (go to page 34560), you will see that HHS wrote them extremely tight. One provision says that if co-payment increases by more than $5, plus medical cost of inflation, then the plan can no longer be grandfathered. (With last year’s inflation rate of 4 percent, that means the co-pay could not increase by more than $5.20.) Another provision says the co-insurance rate could not be increased at all above the level it was on March 23, 2010....
The administration is defending this pledge with a rather slim reed — that there is nothing in the law that makes insurance companies force people out of plans they were enrolled in before the law passed. That explanation conveniently ignores the regulations written by the administration to implement the law. Moreover, it also ignores the fact that the purpose of the law was to bolster coverage and mandate a robust set of benefits, whether someone wanted to pay for it or not.
The president’s statements were sweeping and unequivocal — and made both before and after the bill became law. The White House now cites technicalities to avoid admitting that he went too far in his repeated pledge, which, after all, is one of the most famous statements of his presidency.
The president’s promise apparently came with a very large caveat: “If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan — if we deem it to be adequate.”
Four Pinocchios  http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/wp/2013/10/30/obamas-pledge-that-no-one-will-take-away-your-health-plan/
Make no mistake, the Washington Post is a very liberal newspaper and they defend the president and liberals every chance they get.
If the liberal media keeps up their honest reporting and stop protection the president, Obama's presidency will be doomed and he may become another Richard Nixon.

Damn Clowns

From the Kenosha News: A woman called police after she saw a man in clown makeup dragging screaming children into the woods east of the 4800 block of 13th Court about 2 a.m. Sunday.
Police found three people behind a section of tall bushes. Antonio J. Brown, 33, of Kenosha, wearing the clown makeup, was one of them. With him were two children, age 13 and 8. The children were holding each other and crying uncontrollably, according to court records.
Police believed Brown to be highly intoxicated.
Ya think booze was involved?

It's Obama's Fault

From the Las Vegas Sun: A longtime scenic helicopter tour operator will continue to operate through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, an attorney representing the company said Tuesday.
Heli USA Airways, based at McCarran International Airport, filed its petition in the Nevada district of U.S. Bankruptcy Court on Monday. Initial court appearances are expected next week.
Court documents say there are up to 49 creditors with assets and liabilities listed at under $50,000.
Attorney Ambrish Sidhu said the company would continue to operate while its finances are reorganized.  http://www.vegasinc.com/news/2013/oct/29/helicopter-tour-operator-files-bankruptcy/?_ga=1.139943600.2052921053.1380857312
It's quite possible that when Obama was visiting Las Vegas in 2011-12, it cost this company hundred's of thousands of dollars when then they shut down the air space around Las Vegas and also shut down all the surrounding airports.
It is indisputable that Obama's visits have cost businesses in the Las Vegas millions of dollars and it may have factored into this company's bankruptcy.

I'll Agree With That

From the LVRJ: Sen. Tom Coburn is no fan of Sen. Harry Reid, criticizing the Nevadan regularly and publicly for how he manages the Senate.
But civility took it on the chin Monday when the Oklahoman told a crowd at a New York gala for young Republicans that he thought the Democratic majority leader was an “absolute asshole.”
In answer to a question from the group, Coburn said it’s easier to work with some Democrats than others. For instance he said he has “great relationships” with Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York.
But, he said, “there’s no comity with Harry Reid. I think he’s an absolute asshole.”  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/gop-senator-uses-colorful-term-insult-reid
I think Coburn let Reid off a little easy.  Actually, Reid is a senile/coward/liar fu.king asshole, who looks exactly like what Coburn called him.

Holy Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, Look Who's Paying For Halloween

Guess who is paying for the following:
Pumpkins for carving scary pictures
Candy to give to the little beggars
Halloween cupcakes and frosting
Water and soda to quench the thirst of the trick or treaters
Little bags of potato chips, Cheetos and Fritos to give to the little goblins

Yep, you guessed it, the taxpayers are paying these items if a person is on food stamps.
Today, I had a person come in and pay for 7 pumpkins on food stamps at Wal-Mart.  I would bet a dollar to a donut that they are not going to eat the pumpkins like the pilgrims did in the early days of the United States.
This is just abuse of the system.
If we can limit food purchases on WIC, we can certainly do the same for foo stamps.
Besides Michelle Obama wants people to eat more healthy, so, make those on food stamps eat more healthy.
Do you think anybody of those on food stamps will thank a taxpayer for giving them their free food?
Yeah, I doubt it to.

Why Is Obama Even Considering It?

Talk about total incompetence.
From the Detroit Free Press: The Obama administration is considering ending spying on allied heads of state, a senior administration official said, as the White House grappled with the fallout from revelations that the U.S. has eavesdropped on German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The official said late Monday that a final decision had not been made and an internal review was still underway.
The revelations about National Security Agency monitoring of Merkel were the latest in a months-long spying scandal that has strained longstanding alliances with some of America’s closest partners. Earlier Monday, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, called for a “total review of all intelligence programs.”   http://www.freep.com/article/20131029/NEWS07/310290054/Report-White-House-weighs-an-end-spying-friendly-world-leaders
They are only CONSIDERING ending spying on national leaders who are friendly to the United States?
What a bunch of incompetent boobs, from the top on down in he Obama administration.
My guess is that they were arrogant enough to think could get away with it and so they spied on our friends.
This will cause a lot of damage with our allies who, at the end of the day, may not be our allies anymore because of this incompetent boob in the White House.

Are We Horrible Parents?

Let's see:
We have a 14 and 16 year old son and daughter.
Our kids are not Facebook.
Or kids are not Twitter.
Our kids don't participate in chat rooms.
Our kids do not have an e-mail account.
Our kids have a cell phone but we monitor their texts.
Our kids are monitored when they go on the Internet.

Are we horrible parents?

More Obama Lies

From the Las Vegas Sun: U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin on Monday removed a Facebook post that erroneously claimed a GOP leader had told the president, "I can't even stand to look at you," saying he's satisfied that people now know he's not to blame for the mistake.
Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, posted on his Facebook page on Oct. 20 that at a meeting with Obama during the government shutdown, a "GOP House Leader told the president: I can't even stand to look at you." Durbin was not at the meeting, but he says his source was a White House staffer who briefed him.
The post drew rebukes from Republicans, including House Speaker John Boehner, who said no such statement was made. Though the White House quickly said the information was wrong, Durbin had declined to remove the post until Monday.  http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/oct/28/us-durbin-facebook-flap/
Wow, the White House is certainly is imploding.  Lying at the drop of a hat, falsely demonizing people, coming up with policies that non one wants and are failures and being just mean and bitter people.

He Wouldn't But Democrats Would

So, a Republican was taken out of context about slavery and the democrats are trying to make something out of nothing.
From the Las Vegas Sun: A Nevada assemblyman said he would vote in favor of legislation allowing for slavery if it was something his constituents wanted him to do.
“If that’s what they wanted, I’d have to hold my nose, I’d have to bite my tongue and they’d probably have to hold a gun to my head, but yeah, if that’s what the citizens of the, if that’s what the constituency wants that elected me, that’s what they elected me for,” he said. “That’s what a republic is about. You elected a person for your district to do your wants and wishes, not the wants and wishes of a special interest, not his own wants and wishes, yours.”
Wheeler said today that he believes “liberal” operatives are trying to frame him as a bigot by spreading video of the statement on the Internet.
Reached by phone this afternoon, Wheeler now says he would not in actuality vote for anything that would legalize human slavery. Rather, he claimed, he was exaggerating in order to make a point that representing the will of his constituents is important to him. “That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard if anyone could even fathom believing it,” he said. “I don’t care if every constituent in (Assembly) District 39 wanted slavery, I wouldn’t vote for it. That’s ridiculous.”  http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/oct/28/state-senator-says-hed-vote-slavery-if-his-constit/
Of course it was Democrats who supported slavery and voted to deny voting rights to minorities.
And it is the Democrats who have enslaved millions right now to the government plantation by killing jobs and forcing (some willing, others not so willing) on government assistance.
And with over 90% of Blacks voting for Democrats, they are part of the liberal plantation.
And currently, with ObamaCare, millions of people are going to be kicked off their health insurance policies and forced to use more expensive, government endorsed health insurance policies.  That's just another form of slavery.
So, before the Democrats go off half cocked, they need to remember their own history when it comes slavery.

Headline Of The day

From the LVRJ:
Killers cap Life Is Beautiful with a bear hug for Las Vegas
http://www.reviewjournal.com/columns-blogs/jason-bracelin/killers-cap-life-beautiful-bear-hug-las-vegas
Killers at the Barney/Mister Rogers Life Is Beautiful festival?
Umm, ok.

How Tragic

From the LVRJ: Julian Wilson was almost two years old when he died from ingesting a small battery Oct. 18.
According to the Clark County coroner’s office, Julian died of internal bleeding with lacerations in his esophagus, gastric irritation and a collapsed lung.
“Nobody knew, really, what it was,” Julian’s grandmother, Elena Derbyshire, said.
Paramedics were called when the child began vomiting blood.
Even the doctors had trouble figuring it out, Derbyshire said, and no one knows when the battery was swallowed.
“They didn’t know what it was in the X-ray. They didn’t figure out it was a battery until they did the autopsy,” she said....
While deaths from battery ingestion are rare, the complications can be incredibly dangerous.
A button battery, from household items like remote controls, watches and hearing aids reacts with saliva and creates an electrical charge that can seriously burn the esophagus in as little as two hours and treatment requires multiple surgeries, according to the National Capital Poison Center. Permanent damage is common.
“The longer (batteries) are in contact with the tissue, the worse it can be,” Nevada Poison Center spokesman Sarah Bruhn said.
“We see kids getting into them a lot. We probably get calls every day,” she said. “We always recommend they go see a physician and get an X-ray.”  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/las-vegas-toddler-dies-swallowing-small-battery
Sadly, I never realized how serious swallowing a battery could be.  I guess it just doesn't pass through.

Liar Liar Pants On Fire, Time To Impeach

The liberal media finally smell blood in the water- Obama's blood.
From NBC News: President Obama repeatedly assured Americans that after the Affordable Care Act became law, people who liked their health insurance would be able to keep it. But millions of Americans are getting or are about to get cancellation letters for their health insurance under Obamacare, say experts, and the Obama administration has known that for at least three years.
Four sources deeply involved in the Affordable Care Act tell NBC NEWS that 50 to 75 percent of the 14 million consumers who buy their insurance individually can expect to receive a “cancellation” letter or the equivalent over the next year because their existing policies don’t meet the standards mandated by the new health care law. One expert predicts that number could reach as high as 80 percent. And all say that many of those forced to b
None of this should come as a shock to the Obama administration. The law states that policies in effect as of March 23, 2010 will be “grandfathered,” meaning consumers can keep those policies even though they don’t meet requirements of the new health care law. But the Department of Health and Human Services then wrote regulations that narrowed that provision, by saying that if any part of a policy was significantly changed since that date -- the deductible, co-pay, or benefits, for example -- the policy would not be grandfathered.
Buried in Obamacare regulations from July 2010 is an estimate that because of normal turnover in the individual insurance market, “40 to 67 percent” of customers will not be able to keep their policy. And because many policies will have been changed since the key date, “the percentage of individual market policies losing grandfather status in a given year exceeds the 40 to 67 percent range.”
That means the administration knew that more than 40 to 67 percent of those in the individual market would not be able to keep their plans, even if they liked them.
Yet President Obama, who had promised in 2009, “if you like your health plan, you will be able to keep your health plan,” was still saying in 2012, “If [you] already have health insurance, you will keep your health insurance.”
“This says that when they made the promise, they knew half the people in this market outright couldn’t keep what they had and then they wrote the rules so that others couldn’t make it either,” said  Robert Laszewski, of Health Policy and Strategy Associates, a consultant who works for health industry firms. Laszewski estimates that 80 percent of those in the individual market will not be able to keep their current policies and will have to buy insurance that meets requirements of the new law, which generally requires a richer package of benefits than most policies today.
http://investigations.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/10/28/21213547-obama-admin-knew-millions-could-not-keep-their-health-insurance?lite
If Obama knew, then so did the Democrats, Democrats from Nevada like Coward/Liar/Senile Harry Reid, Felony Thief Dina Titus and Shelly Berkley.
So did Pelosi and the rest of the Democrat ilk that was in Congress.  Further, I am sure others like Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and the others also knew.
Without a doubt, ObamaCare is the biggest fraud in American history.  It makes Bernie Madoff look like St. Mother Theresa.
It's time to bring impeachment proceedings against Obama.  Yes, it may not pass the senate, but they to go on record supporting this failed and miserable POS, we call a president.

More ObamaCare Disaster

From the Chicago Tribune: A data center critical for allowing uninsured Americans to buy health coverage under President Barack Obama's healthcare law went down on Sunday, halting online enrollment for all 50 states in the latest problem to hit the program's troubled rollout.
The data center operated by Verizon's Terremark experienced a connectivity issue that caused it to shut down, affecting the federal government's already problem-plagued online marketplace Healthcare.gov and similar sites operated by 14 states and the District of Columbia, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Obama administration and company officials could not say how long it would take to fix the connectivity problem.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/sns-rt-us-usa-healthcare-20131021,0,3598820.story
And the hits just keep on coming.

Something Not To Say To A Liberal

The other day, we got some new pin pads at our Wal-Mart store.  The pin pads at the small device where people swipe their credit/debit cards.
So, a customer comes to me and noticed we had the new pin pads and said so.
I told them it's not always perfect but it runs better than the Obama web site.
Well, they apparently didn't like my response and they told me "That's not funny".
I guess some liberals just don't have a sense of humor or a sense of reality.

You Know What Is Really Amazing?

Working as a cashier at Wal-Mart, I find it totally amazing that with 2-3 seconds,  person can pay by debit or credit card, the information travels to the shopper's bank, through the credit card company, takes money out of their account, approves the purchase and prints out a receipt. In the same time, it will also tell us if the customer has no money in their account.
To me, that's pretty amazing, considering that 30 years ago, we didn't have the computers to do all this work.
And you would think, with all this technology, that the Obama administration could come up with a web site that actually works because I am sure the technology is there and other companies already do what the ObamaCare web site wants to do.
And it's just not Wal-Mart that has this technology.  I'm pretty sure all the casinos in  Las Vegas has had better technology than the ObamaCare web site, along with just about every business operating has a better operating web site than the ObamaCare web site.
Just another reason to dump ObamaCare completely.

Another Obama Embarrassment

Not only is Obama the most incompetent president ever in the United States, he probably is also the most embarrassing president ever.
From the Daily Telegraph: President Barack Obama was dragged into the trans-Atlantic spying row after it was claimed he personally authorised the monitoring of Angela Merkel’s phone three years ago.
The president allegedly allowed US intelligence to listen to calls from the German Chancellor’s mobile phone after he was briefed on the operation by Keith Alexander, director of the National Security Agency (NSA), in 2010.
The latest claim, reported in the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, followed reports in Der Spiegel that the surveillance of Mrs Merkel’s phone began as long ago as 2002, when she was still the opposition leader, three years before being elected Chancellor. That monitoring only ended in the weeks before Mr Obama visited Berlin in June this year, the magazine added.
Citing leaked US intelligence documents, it also reported that America conducted eavesdropping operations on the German government from a listening post at its embassy beside the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, one of more than 80 such centres worldwide.
Mr Obama’s European allies will now ask him to say what he personally knew about the NSA’s global eavesdropping operation and its targeting of world leaders, including those from friendly states. The White House declined to comment on the German media reports.   http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/germany/10407282/Barack-Obama-approved-tapping-Angela-Merkels-phone-3-years-ago.html
If Obama's goal was for our friends to distrust the United States for a long time to come, well, Obama has done one hell of a job.
I do have a prediction:  Within a year, it will be revealed that the U.S. has spied on the Queen of England.

More ObamaCare Disasters

I think I could devote an entire web site for all the failures of ObamaCare, but I guess I have to pick and chose which disaster to write about.
Now, here comes liberal CBS News and their report on ObamaCare: CBS News has uncovered a serious pricing problem with HealthCare.gov. It stems from the Obama administration's efforts to improve its health care website. A new online feature can dramatically underestimate the cost of insurance.
The administration announced it would provide a new "shop and browse" feature Sunday, but it's not giving consumers the real picture. In some cases, people could end up paying double of what they see on the website, CBS News' Jan Crawford reported Wednesday on "CBS This Morning."
As President Obama promises to fix HealthCare.gov, his administration is touting what it calls "improvements" in design, specifically a feature that allows you to "See Plans Now." White House press secretary Jay Carney has said, "Americans across the country can type in their zip code and shop and browse." ...
Industry analysts point to how the website lumps people only into two broad categories: "49 or under" and "50 or older."
Jonathan Wu is co-founder of Valuepenguin.com, a consumer finance website focusing on the impact of health care reform. His company has built a tool that provides quotes for plans on the federal exchange. He said it's "incredibly misleading for people that are trying to get a sense of what they're paying."
Prices for everyone in the 49-or-under group are based on what a 27-year-old would pay. In the 50-or-older group, prices are based on what a 50-year-old would pay....
CBS News ran the numbers for a 48-year-old in Charlotte, N.C., ineligible for subsidies. According to HealthCare.gov, she would pay $231 a month, but the actual plan on Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina's website costs $360, more than 50 percent higher. The difference: Blue Cross and Blue Shield requests your birthday before providing more accurate estimates.
The numbers for older Americans are even more striking. A 62-year-old in Charlotte looking for the same basic plan would get a price estimate on the government website of $394. The actual price is $634....
Industry executives CBS News spoke with could not believe the government is providing these estimates, which they said were useless and could easily mislead consumers. They also said that the website repeatedly states the actual prices could be lower, but it makes no mention that they could be higher.
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505269_162-57608843/healthcare.gov-pricing-feature-can-be-off-the-mark/
Now that the liberal media is getting involved, I think more people who don't follow politics, will also become disgusted with ObamaCare and hopefully doom it.
But then, does Obama even care if ObamaCare is complete and utter failure?
I doubt it since he doesn't think any of his other programs have been failures.

Gee, I Wonder Why?

From Fox News: Federal officials are trying to figure out why the Bureau of Land Management's first-ever auction of public land for solar-energy development failed to attract any bids.
According to the Denver Post, no bidders showed up for the first auction for three parcels of land in Colorado's San Luis Valley, even though five solar development companies had expressed interest in the land.
Three parcels covering 3,700 acres in so-called solar-energy zones were offered on Thursday. The bureau has created 19 zones for large solar projects in six Western states, encompassing nearly 300,000 acres, the newspaper reported.
"We are going to have to regroup and figure out what didn't work," Maryanne Kurtinaitis, the renewable-energy program manager for the BLM's Colorado division, told the Denver Post. "It is always tough to be the first out of the chute. This is a learning experience."
Industry officials attributed the auction's failure to uncertainties about the solar energy market and federal regulations.
Ken Johnson, a spokesman for the Solar Energy Industries, told the Post that financing large-scale solar projects remains a challenge for the industry.
"In this particular case, there's an added issue which may have prompted developers to take a pass on the Colorado lease sale," Johnson said. "The ground rules are still very much in question. To date, BLM has yet to finalize any regional mitigation plans. Frankly, it's not smart business to commit to something until you've read the fine print."  http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/10/26/colorado-solar-auction-draws-no-bids/
There's no way, if I had a solar company, would I trust the Federal government.  With all the regulations they put on businesses and the way the current government goes about changing the rules when ever they want to go, it is a highly risky proposition.
Further, solar energy is not energy efficient.  Look at the solar panel field bear Nellis and Boulder City.  These solar farms take up huge areas of land but give power to very few people.
The solar farm at Nellis is a couple of square miles large but it only provides power to the base- a couple of dorms, some hangers, some official buildings and lighting around the base.  It can't even power the Air Force hospital across the street from the base or the family housing just a few blocks down Craig Rd from the base.
So, no, it doesn't surprise me that this failed and this just adds to the long list of Obama failures.

More ObamaCare Disasters

From the Baltimore Sun: As the federal health reform known as Obamacare takes hold, many community colleges in Maryland and across the country are capping the hours of adjunct faculty — who make up the bulk of their teaching force — to avoid paying for the instructors' health insurance.
The limits put the adjunct teachers on the leading edge of fallout from the Affordable Care Act, whose critics predict that a range of employers will increasingly rely on part-timers to sidestep insurance requirements that go into effect in 2015.
Cash-strapped community colleges in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Howard and Prince George's counties, among other places, have pre-emptively limited adjuncts' hours, starting this year. Expanding health coverage to such instructors would cost schools across the state $17 million, officials at the Maryland Association of Community Colleges estimated.
Though many schools already had hourly limits in place, their enforcement was frequently lax. The current efforts will keep all but a handful of instructors from qualifying for health benefits under the law.
Adjuncts' hours are also being limited at schools in some other states, including Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Obamacare has been the target of controversy since its passage, and Republican efforts to repeal the law were at the heart of a congressional stalemate that led to the recent 16-day shutdown of the federal government. The controversy over the law continues, with the focus turning last week to technical problems that consumers across the nation have encountered in trying to sign up online for insurance.
Critics such as Rep. Andy Harris say the adjunct teacher situation offers one more reason that the Affordable Care Act was a mistake. Harris, a physician and Maryland's only Republican in Congress, notes that some restaurants and retailers have announced similar plans to limit the hours of part-time workers as a result of the law.
"They're reading the writing on the wall," Harris said. He's co-sponsoring one bill that would redefine full time employment as 40 hours per week and another that would repeal the Affordable Care Act altogether. "Insurance is just getting too expensive" to provide, he said.

So, what excuse will liberals use now.  Before they blamed businesses, run mostly by conservatives, for cutting hours and playing games with the system.
Now, colleges, colleges that are hardly conservative, are doing the same thing: Cutting hours of their employees.
Once again it shows that those who support and run ObamaCare are book smart because they worked in education and journalism, but they are street dumb as rocks, and that is insulting rocks, when it comes to real world matters.
It's time to dump ObamaCare, Obama needs to resign and hang his head in shame and apologize to the American people for the disaster he gave us.
If Obama were a Japanese leader a couple of decades ago, he would have committed Hari-Kari because of the sins he committed against this Country.
Too bad Obama isn't Japanese with old Japanese values.

Being A Bit Petty, McDonalds?

From the New York Daily News: Heinzsight is always 20/20.
When Heinz hired former CEO of rival fast-food chain Burger King, McDonalds lost its taste for the condiment king.
Now, those who relish the famed ketchup will soon have to go somewhere besides McDonalds to find the celebrated condiment after Bernardo Hees, the former CEO of Burger King, was hired in June to lead Heinz.
"As a result of recent management changes at Heinz, we have decided to transition our business to other suppliers at this time," the Golden Arches said in a statement. "We have spoken to Heinz and plan to work together to ensure a smooth and orderly transition."...
While the news comes as a shock to condiment lovers across the country, it would seem as the transition doesn't put that big of a squeeze on Heinz lovers. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Heinz-branded ketchup is currently served only in two major U.S. markets - Pittsburgh and Minneapolis.
But many overseas McDonald's had served Heinz with its fare.
Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/eats/mcdonald-cuts-heinz-ketchup-ties-40-years-article-1.1497368#ixzz2iuoDNqp5
So what if Heinz hires a former CEO of Burger King, it's not like there are any trade secrets involved.
But this decision may have broader implications.  More than likely, this will hurt farmers who supply the tomatoes and workers in the Heinz ketchup plants.
So, it seems like McDonalds is being a wee bit petty over this hiring, unless there is more to the story.

Were The Red Sox Robbed?

The Boston Red Sox were defeated 5-4 when a Cardinal player was awarded home plate on an obstruction made by the third base umpire in the bottom of the 9th inning.
After looking at the video, clearly an obstruction occurred.  However, I can see where the Red Sox are mad because not only was the call ended the game, but the umpire just quietly made the call, perhaps hoping that no one noticed him call it.  Normally, when an umpire makes a close call, especially at the end of the game, they are taught to sell the call but this ump not only didn't sell the call, he seemed he was unsure of the call and had to convince himself he made the call correctly.
In the end, the call was correct, at least technically.  But should it have ended the game in Game 3 of the World Series?  That's a tough one and the umps are screwed no matter how they called it, but I think the call should have been a no call, mainly because there was no guarantee the runner would have scored on the play- it would have been close but...

Black NASCAR Driver Wins Truck Race

Darrell Wallace Jr.
NASCAR driver, Darrell Wallace Jr., a black driver in the Camping World truck series won the Kroger 200 race in Martinsville, W.V..
From ESPN:  Darrell Wallace Jr. became the second black driver to win on NASCAR's national level and first in a half-century, taking the Truck Series race Saturday at Martinsville Speedway.
Wendell Scott won in Jacksonville, Fla., in December 1963 in what is now known as the Sprint Cup Series, the highest of NASCAR's three national levels.
"This means everything," the 20-year-old Wallace said. "This is an emotional win for me, especially doing it in Wendell Scott's backyard. I love coming here to Martinsville; it's always good to me. It finally paid off. I think it's my third trip here. I love coming here. The fans are great here."
Wallace, driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports, beat Jeb Burton into Turn 1 off a restart with five laps to go.
"We congratulate Darrell Wallace Jr. on his first national series victory, one that will be remembered as a remarkable moment in our sport's history," Brian France, NASCAR's chairman and CEO, said in a statement. "Darrell's success, following fellow NASCAR Drive for Diversity graduate Kyle Larson's win earlier this season, is indicative of a youth and multicultural movement that bodes well for NASCAR's future growth."
Wallace was never below sixth place and led a race-high 96 laps but needed to survive a final restart. Wallace chose the inside line for the reset and quickly pulled away from Burton.  http://espn.go.com/racing/nascar/truck/story/_/id/9883258/darrell-wallace-jr-becomes-first-black-driver-win-nascar-race-1963
Not only is Wallace a very good driver, he is a really nice person.
After the truck race in Las Vegas earlier this month, Wallace was only 1 of two drivers who came and signed autographs for the fans- mostly kids- in the Neon Garage.
So, congratulations to Wallace and hope his career continues to shine.

Pro Football Predictions

I've been doing pretty good on my NFL predictions based the point spread put out by the Vegas bookies casinos.
Of course, there is no one to brag to after the fact because hardly anybody would believe me.

Update: I was 3 and 2 for the week.  Not too bad, and even the pro gamblers have worse days.

UNLV Football Has Nevada Bragging Rights

I always said give John Hauck time and he will turn around the UNLV football and this season he is showing why is going to be a great coach in the NCAA.
From the Las Vegas Sun:
The chants started before kickoff and got more unprintable as hundreds of UNR fans pushed tighter and tighter into a fence holding them back from UNLV’s victory parade.
After it was over, after the Rebels snapped an eight-game series losing streak and took back the Fremont Cannon with a 27-22 victory in Reno tonight, those clad in blue wanted nothing more than to get out of Mackay Stadium. Holding them up in the east corner of the stadium were steel gates and guards holding the line for UNLV to stream off the field and into the visitor’s locker room.
Wolf Pack fans lobbed every known obscenity and a few made-up insults at the players and coaches wearing red. Each one made the Rebels bounce a little higher and scream a little louder as they marched in to celebrate with the heaviest trophy in college football, which is in for a new paint job.
“Coming off when you know you’ve got the win, you did what you came here to do, (the insults) made the smile much bigger,” said quarterback Caleb Herring. “No matter what was said we got the win. We got the cannon and we’re going back to Vegas as winners.”  http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/oct/26/we-got-cannon-rebels-take-back-rivalry-trophy-unr/
This is a great win for UNLV and they are only 1 win way from being bowl eligible.  Of course, UNLV will have to have several more wins because it won't be easy to go to a bowl game.  UNLV doesn't draw many fans at home and far fewer travel to away games.
So, congratulations to UNLV and their very good season so far.

RIP Marcia Wallace/Mrs Krabappel

From the LVRJ: Marcia Wallace, the voice of Edna Krabappel on “The Simpsons,” has died.
“Simpsons” executive producer Al Jean said in a statement Saturday that her death is a terrible loss. He says Wallace’s “irreplaceable character,” the fourth-grade teacher who has to deal with Bart Simpson’s constant antics, would be retired from the show.
The longtime TV actress’ credits ranged from playing a wise-cracking receptionist on “The Bob Newhart Show” to appearances on Candice Bergen’s “Murphy Brown.”  http://www.reviewjournal.com/entertainment/tv/marcia-wallace-dies-voice-simpsons-krabappel
I remember her most for her role on the Bob Newhart show as the wise cracking floor secretary, Carol.
RIP to Marcia and prayers to her family and friend.

Better Than The Death Penalty

From the LVRJ:  Another inmate died in the Northern Nevada Correctional Center this week, the fourth inmate death in October at that state prison in Carson City.
Joseph Oxford-McArthur, who was serving a one- to three-year sentence for domestic battery charges, was found in his cell unresponsive on Monday, according to officials with the Nevada Department of Corrections.
He was transported to Carson Tahoe Hospital, where he died late Friday evening.
Another inmate died Monday, according the prison officials. That man’s identity has not yet been released.
Also, inmate Larry Peck died Oct. 4, and inmate Richard Ferst was found dead the next day.
No foul play was suspected in the three previous October deaths, said prison officials. Oxford-McArthur’s death was still under investigation so details weren’t released as of Saturday afternoon.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/inmate-dies-nevada-prison-fourth-death-October
While I am sure the families are upset, but I am not crying if an inmate dies in prison.  It saves the taxpayer money and removes their DNA from the gene pool.
But it is strange that there have 4 deaths in such a short time in 1 location.

Why Does Nevada Have So Many Crazies?

Senile/Coward/Liar Harry Reid, Heidi Fleiss, Floyd Mayweather, John Ensign, Chumlee and Now Sheldon are some of the bozo's that liv in Nevada.
From the JPost:  During a panel at Yeshiva University on Tuesday evening, Sheldon Adelson, noted businessman and owner of the newspaper Israel Hayom, suggested that the US should use nuclear weapons on Iran to impose its demands from a position of strength.
Asked by moderator Rabbi Shmuley Boteach whether the US should negotiate with Iran if it were to cease its uranium enrichment program, Adelson retorted, “What are we going to negotiate about?”
Adelson then imagined what might happen if an American official were to call up an Iranian official, say “watch this,” and subsequently drop a nuclear bomb in the middle of the Iranian desert.
"Then you say, ‘See! The next one is in the middle of Tehran. So, we mean business. You want to be wiped out? Go ahead and take a tough position and continue with your nuclear development. You want to be peaceful? Just reverse it all, and we will guarantee you that you can have a nuclear power plant for electricity purposes, energy purposes’," Adelson said.  http://www.jpost.com/Diplomacy-and-Politics/Adelson-US-should-drop-atomic-bomb-on-Iran-329641
Without a doubt, the Obama administration with Obama Hillary Clinton and John Kerry running things, the U.S. foreign policy, especially it's policy on the Middle East, whatever that policy is, has been a disaster.
But dropping a nuke in the middle of the desert probably is not the answer.  The answer is is to let Israel handle it and back them up and not stop them in anyway.  That will solve the problem.
Not nuking them.

The Religion Of Peace????

From the Sacramento Bee: Activists have posted a video of a woman in Saudi Arabia driving a car, as their campaign urging women in the ultraconservative kingdom to defy a ban on getting behind the wheel kicks off.
A video posted Saturday on the official Arabic YouTube account of the driving campaign shows a woman identified as May Al Sawyan driving in Riyadh. She wears sunglasses and her hair is covered by the traditional black headscarf worn by Saudi women, but her face is otherwise visible.
In the run-up to the campaign, police warned that anyone disturbing public order would be dealt with forcefully. Ultraconservative clerics and have also warned against defying the country's driving ban on women.
The campaign for women to drive is a rare show of defiance in the kingdom.  http://www.sacbee.com/2013/10/26/5853937/saudi-womens-driving-protest-kicks.htmlYou just gotta love those muslim countries that don't think women ought to drive.Reminds me of democrats in the 1960's, that did not want to give Blacks any civil rights.

So, How Much Will They Fine Obama?

From the Chicago Sun Times:
United Airlines Inc. was fined a record $1.1 million Friday for stranding 939 passengers for more than three hours on the tarmac at O’Hare International Airport during a bout of severe storms.
Fifty-one of the trapped passengers were unable to access bathroom facilities during the last 1 1/2 hours of the “untenable gridlock” United passengers experienced on July 13, 2012, federal regulators found.
Thirteen flights — 11 inbound and 2 outbound — were stranded on the tarmac at O’Hare that day for an average of 3 1/2 hours, according to a consent order issued Friday by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Stalled the longest was a Shuttle America flight which held 61 passengers for almost 4 1/3 hours during severe thunder and lightning storms. United called the storms “unforeseen,’’ as the weather forecast called for only a 30 percent chance of rain that day.
The $1.1 million fine assessed by the U.S. Department of Transportation is the largest penalty since rules went into effect in 2010 limiting tarmac delays. Airlines are supposed to give passengers a chance to exit an aircraft if they are stuck on the tarmac for more than three hours.  http://www.suntimes.com/23345082-761/united-airlines-fined-11-million-for-ohare-tarmac-delays-largest-ever.html
So, when Obama is on his campaign trips, informational speeches, he causes flight delays, cancelled flights and closes businesses.
When will President POS be fined?

Big News In NASCAR Today

No, it wasn't Danica Patrick crashing again.  That's old nes.
From the Denver Post:
Martin Truex Jr. has been hired to drive the No. 78 Chevrolet for Denver-based Furniture Row Racing, team owner Barney Visser told The Denver Post on Friday night.
"The deal was finally done (Friday)," Visser said. "There were some reports that it was already a done deal but it wasn't. We signed off on it (Friday)."

In terms of NASCAR's silly season where new drivers are signed up, this, by far, is the biggest deal in a while.

A Reason Not To Shop At Target

From the Minneapolis Star Tribune:
Target Corp. will roll out a national program early next year that will eliminate the box on employment applications that asks job seekers whether they have a criminal record.
The initiative, part of a budding “Ban the Box” movement across the country, calls for employers to wait until a prospective employee is being interviewed or has a provisional job offer before inquiring whether he or she has a criminal past. The idea is that ex-offenders will have a better chance at getting a job if they’re not eliminated at the very beginning of their job search.
“It’s a big deal in the sense that people with criminal records are going to be given a better chance at employment,” said Dan Oberdorfer, an employment lawyer with the Minneapolis law firm Leonard Street and Deinard. “So earlier in the process employers will have a completely open mind.”
This year, Minnesota became the third state in the nation to pass a law requiring private employers to eliminate the potentially incriminating checkoff box. The new law takes effect on Jan. 1. In 2009, state legislators passed a comparable mandate for public employees provision is in effect in both Minneapolis and St. Paul. http://www.startribune.com/business/229310141.htm
So, now you have to trust these employees as they wait on you.  Will you be able to trust them with your credit card, your change back from a $100 bill, stealing your information and other criminal acts?
Thank you but no, I will not be shopping at Target.

This Is Really Scary

From the New York Daily News:
Long hailed for his status as the NFL's iron man, Brett Favre, the former quarterback and holder of the league's record for starting in 321 consecutive games (including playoffs), acknowledges encountering memory losses related to concussions as a player. He expressed uncertainty regarding what ailments he may face related to the hard hits he absorbed over his 20 seasons in the league.
“God only knows the toll,” Favre said on Sports Talk 570 in Washington.
Favre, who reportedly was offered a chance to sign with the St. Louis Rams earlier in the week, discussed the experience of not being able to remember his daughter playing youth soccer games one summer. The inability to remember unsettled Favre, now a 44-year-old grandfather serving as an assistant high school football coach. He is nearly three years removed from his final game as a player.
“For the first time in 44 years, that put a little fear in me,” he said.
Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/favre-calls-memory-loss-scary-article-1.1496554#ixzz2ioq22KBb
Just think, the St. Louis Rams contacted Favre this week to play football for them but they were not able to reach an agreement.
Best wishes to Favre, the all time best quarterback ever, and hope he gets therapy to help him in this situation.

Typical Obama Voter?

From the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune:
Jonathon Humbert is looking forward to Obamacare. He just isn’t sure what it is.
The 44-year-old taxi driver from Appleton had no inkling the Affordable Care Act could be the answer to his lack of health insurance until his ex-girlfriend’s social worker mentioned it Oct. 9.
“I don’t quite understand exactly what Obamacare is, but it’s nice to have it (as an option),” said Humbert, who has been uninsured for six months. “It’s better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.”
In Wisconsin, President Barack Obama’s signature legislative effort makes health insurance available to the more than 500,000 people who don’t have it. But many who could benefit remain unaware of the Affordable Care Act, and others believe they simply don’t need or can’t afford insurance.
Experts point to a lack of money and coordination in educating the public.  http://www.wisconsinrapidstribune.com/article/20131026/WRT0197/310260042/Wisconsin-struggles-reach-uninsured-health-care-signup
Of course, just spend more money.
And this guy has no clue about ObamaCare, even though it has been in the news for the past 4-5 years, especially the last few weeks?
Typical blind follower of "The Leader" and who is not terribly bright.
Sounds like an Obama voter and supporter.

More ObamaCare Disaster

From the San Fran Chronicle:
This Kaiser Health News story has been reverberating across the Internet because it starts to put together the numbers of private health-plan insureds who are receiving cancellations. (This is a small group of Californians; a majority get their health care through employer plans, Medicare or MediCal.) I’ve written about the issue here and here. From the story:
Florida Blue, for example, is terminating about 300,000 policies, about 80 percent of its individual policies in the state. Kaiser Permanente in California has sent notices to 160,000 people – about half of its individual business in the state. Insurer Highmark in Pittsburgh is dropping about 20 percent of its individual market customers, while Independence Blue Cross, the major insurer in Philadelphia, is dropping about 45 percent.
On Forbes’ Avik Roy’s blog, Josh Archambault crunched the numbers and concluded, “More Americans in 3 States Have Had Their Insurance Canceled Under Obamacare than have filed an exchange account in all 50.”
According to this link  as of December 2012, there were 491,977 covered lives in individual health care plans regulated by the state Department Insurance that are not grandfathered under the Affordable Care Act. (If they bought a plan after March 2010, their coverage is not grandfathered.) This is a 2012 number, but if the number of people with private coverage hasn’t changed much in the last ten months, that’s half a million Californians who will lose their coverage.  According to this link (hit the Enrollment Summary Report) from the state office that regulates managed care providers, there were about 50,000 individual and 60,000 PPO policies that were not grandfathered at the end of the year, which would add another 110,000. (Department of Managed Health Care has not returned my call to confirm these number. In that stories report that Kaiser sent out cancellation notices to 160,000, this number seems low to me.) Either way, you get to 600,000 or more.  http://blog.sfgate.com/djsaunders/2013/10/25/half-a-milllion-californians-could-lose-their-health-care-under-obamacare-next-year/
Remember what President POS said about keeping your health insurance?

Another Reason Not To Live In San Francisco

There are a lot of reasons why not to live in San Francisco. The city is inhabited by liberals who are extremely nuts, the home to Michael Savage, who at times ins nuts and this:
From the San Fran Chronicle: San Francisco rentals were a different world when Chuck Post became a leasing agent - just four years ago.
"In 2009 we were actually discounting rents, offering things like a free month's rent when you moved in, perhaps throwing in free parking," he said.
Those days are long gone.
Now as the economy roars back, his listings draw long lines of wannabe tenants, and apartments get snapped up in less than a week.
Rents in San Francisco are escalating at breakneck clips this year, largely driven by an influx of tech workers. Oakland and San Jose likewise are seeing steep run-ups.
San Francisco's bigger apartment complexes saw average asking rents break the $3,000 mark in the third quarter, hitting a record $3,096 across all size units, according to data service RealFacts. That's an 11.9 percent bump from the same time last year.
Median asking rents for San Francisco apartments listed on www.livelovely.com clocked in at a record $3,398 in the third quarter, up 21 percent from 2012, said apartment-finding company Lovely.  http://www.sfgate.com/realestate/article/Rents-soaring-across-region-4924282.php
Hell, in Las Vegas, you can get a nice sized 3 bed apartment, with a pool in the common grounds and sometimes an common gym/exercise building for about $1000 a month.
But I guess the liberals in San Fran just want to kick of out the poor and  homeless from their little piece of utopia.
Why do liberals hate the poor and homeless in San Fran?

Another Reason Why Heck Hs Become A RINO

From the Las Vegas Sun:
U.S. Rep. Joe Heck lambasted his own party leadership today in a strongly worded statement reacting to news reports that the House may not bring immigration reform up for a vote this year.
"It’s extremely frustrating and very disappointing to hear reports that the House does not plan on voting on immigration reform legislation this year," Heck said in a written statement. "This is yet another example of the leadership vacuum in Washington that rightly has so many people frustrated with this dysfunctional Congress."
The U.S. Senate passed a comprehensive immigration reform bill earlier this year that includes strengthened border security provisions as well as a pathway to citizenship for immigrants here illegally. To be eligible for legal status, those immigrants would have to meet a number of conditions including a clear criminal record, paying a fine and back taxes and waiting a minimum of 13 years to become eligible for citizenship.
But momentum behind the bill ground to a halt once it reached the House, as Republican lawmakers began crafting their own piecemeal immigration bills. Then the issue took a backseat to the frenzied debate over Syria and the government shutdown.  http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/oct/25/heck/
Umm, Rep. Dr. Joe Heck, most conservative don't want immigration reform, we want current immigration law enforced.  We don't want to encourage illegal immigration, we want to stop it and we want to get rid of all the dangerous illegals, those who live off the U.S. taxpayer and those who are here and get free medical care at the expense of taxpayers and those who have insurance.
If you want to be a RINO, Rep. Dr. Joe Heck, you are well on your way.

Scary, Very Scary

I wonder if there will be outrage in the mainstream media over this:
From the Washington Times:
Maryland state police and federal agents used a search warrant in an unrelated criminal investigation to seize the private reporting files of an award-winning former investigative journalist for The Washington Times who had exposed problems in the Homeland Security Department's Federal Air Marshal Service.
Reporter Audrey Hudson said the investigators, who included an agent for Homeland's Coast Guard service, took her private notes and government documents that she had obtained under the Freedom of Information Act during a predawn raid of her family home on Aug. 6.
The documents, some which chronicled her sources and her work at the Times about problems inside the Homeland Security Department, were seized under a warrant to search for unregistered firearms and a “potato gun” suspected of belonging to her husband, Paul Flanagan, a Coast Guard employee. Mr. Flanagan has not been charged with any wrongdoing since the raid.
The warrant, obtained by the Times, offered no specific permission to seize reporting notes or files.
The Washington Times said Friday it is preparing legal action to fight what it called an unwarranted intrusion on the First Amendment.
“While we appreciate law enforcement’s right to investigate legitimate concerns, there is no reason for agents to use an unrelated gun case to seize the First Amendment protected materials of a reporter,” Times Editor John Solomon said. “This violates the very premise of a free press, and it raises additional concerns when one of the seizing agencies was a frequent target of the reporter’s work.
“Homeland’s conduct in seizing privileged reporters notes and Freedom of Information Act documents raises serious Fourth Amendment issues, and our lawyers are preparing an appropriate legal response,” he said....
Mrs. Hudson, 50, says that while the authorities were raiding her house, Coast Guard investigator Miguel Bosch — who formerly worked at the marshal service — began asking questions about whether she was the same Audrey Hudson” who had written “the air marshal stories” for The Washington Times. Mrs. Hudson says she responded that she was.
It was not until roughly a month later, Mrs. Hudson says, that she realized the agents had quietly seized five files from her private office — including handwritten and typed notes from interviews with numerous confidential sources related to her exclusive reporting on the air marshals service.
The search warrant for the raid, issued to Maryland State Trooper Victor Hodgin by a district court judge, made no reference to the documents. A copy obtained by The Times indicates that the search was to be narrowly focused on the pursuit of “firearms” and their “accessories and/or parts,” as well as any communications that that might be found in Mrs. Hudson and Mrs. Flanagan’s home related to “the acquisition of firearms or accessories.”

So, what will the excuse by the liberals for this action?  Because it was against a conservative writer, that's ok?
Can you imagine the outcry if Richard Nixon ordered the seizure of records and notes from the Watergate writers, Woodward and Bernstein?  Or if George Bush ordered reporter's records seized when there were leaks about national security that was reported in the New York Times?
But because it is Obama and a conservative reporter, the blind loyalists of the "The One", will completely ignore this or attack the writer instead.

One Reason Why ObamaCare Has Been A Failure

Obama to Ohio University: Reject These Voices That Warn of Big Government and Tyranny
When I was going to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as a student in the Special Education teacher training program, it opened my eyes about the world of education and teacher colleges, especially public school teacher training programs.
One of the lead professor's in the program, a very nice man, but he never stepped foot in the classroom- either in high school or elementary school.  He never was a teacher- he went from graduating college to being a teacher assistant in college to being a professor.  This is was true of several other teacher trainers as well.  These supposed educators could write good books and papers but they have no clue what the real world is like.
This true with President Obama.  He is an academic, along with many of his inner circle.  There are also many liberal journalists who are also working in the Obama administration and they have no clue about how the real world operates.
Finally, liberalism is mostly based on emotion rather fact.  In theory- academic theory, this is a good thing if you are n emotional person, but in the real world, it just doesn't translate into reality.
ObamaCare, in theory, sounds great.  Give low cost insurance to the poor and those with pre-existing conditions.  And all you have to do is go on the computer and sign up, just like that, 15 minutes tops.  Sounds great, doesn't it.
Well, in reality, ObamaCare has been an complete failure so far.
The web site is broken and may not ever be completely fixed.
Younger people are not signing up for the insurance, even though that is really who is paying for the insurance for the poor and people with pre-existing conditions.
The number people being enrolled is very low.
The Obama administration has made many excuses, false and laughable excuses, for the failures, include many denials.  They are embarrassed and are in denial that their pet project has been a failure.
Now, because they didn't plan failure, because after all, in theory, ObamaCare worked on paper and approved by the supposed book smart people, they have no clue what to do.
Oh, they will bring in tech support, but they won't be able to fix the problems, the problems are too large.
They may even ask for a delay, but they don't realize that thousands, hundreds of thousands, I not millions of people, have already been affected by the law.  They have had their hours cut from work (if they haven't been laid off/fired), lost their insurance, lost their doctors, had their premiums raised etc.  Of course, their supporters will make laughable excuses because after all, they have blind loyalty to their leader, Obama, like the North Korean people have blind loyalty to their dictator and Cubans had blind loyalty to Castro.
Because Obama and his administration, while they may have book smarts, they are as stupid as rocks when it comes to real world matters.
They thought that ObamaCare was their utopia, not realizing that the real world works in a completely different manner than in college and academia.
That is also why almost every program Obama has tried has been a failure.

Shame On Las Vegas And NIAA

chattanooga portable toilet
You would think  city that can put on events that draw hundreds of thousands of people can totally screw up an event that draws about 600.
Today, at Floyd Lamb Park in Las Vegas(http://www.lasvegasnevada.gov/find/21180.htm)
There was a divisional cross country race that involved teams from Laughlin to Lincoln and Nye Counties and many CCSD high schools, with about 400 hundred runners participating and couple hundred more coaches and spectators at Floyd Lamb Park
The park is owned and run by the City of Las Vegas and it is on couple hundred acres.  It has a small pond/like on it with a lot of geese, pigeons and a couple of peacocks.  It's a beautiful park, for the most park and it is a nice place to run a cross country meet except....
None of the toilets, when we got there at 9:00, had toilet paper in them.  Further, you just had 8 bathrooms open for about 600 cross country participants and visitors.
There were no port a potties set up, even though they really needed.  Wait, I should say, that yes, a port a potty truck circled the race area mocking those of us who needed to go to the bathroom but couldn't because of no TP.  And at about 10:30, with two races to go, they finally dropped off 3 port a potties in the area where the buses were parked.
The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) put on the race and so, they deserve part of the blame for not ordering the potties and making sure they were in place at least a day ahead of time.
But how dare the City of Las Vegas hold a large event in the park, have just 1 employee in the guard shack collecting tolls, while having no one making sure that the bathrooms had some toilet paper in them.  Disgusting.
Mayor Goodman, is this how you treat your guests to your City by making not even providing the basics at a park?
Finally, whoever pays the bill for the port a potty company, they should refuse to pay, if the potties were supposed to be in place before the races began.
Shame on the City of Las Vegas and the NIAA for putting on such a crappy event without planning beforehand.
