Currently, there is a massive power outage in the San Diego area and other places in the Southwest and it is causing major problems in those areas. Hope for a quick fix is not forthcoming and most people may not get power until tomorrow.
From the San Diego Union: A major power outage has spread across San Diego County after a transmission line running from Arizona to California failed Thursday and power could remain out through most of Friday.
The outage began about 3:40 p.m., leaving 1.4 million customers without power throughout the county as well as eastern Arizona, northern Mexico and the southern part of Orange County. The power failure led to school closures, flight cancellations, blacked-out traffic lights, silent radio stations and trapped elevator passengers.
Gallery: Power outage hits countyMike Niggli, president and chief operating officer for San Diego Gas & Electric, said the company is working on a restoration plan but warned that power may be out for a while.
"We want all of our customers being focused on emergency supply plans," he said. "We will do anything we can do get the power supply back as soon as possible here in San Diego."
Niggli said the massive, unprecedented outage was due to cascading events that began first when a transmission line in Arizona went out that then knocked the San Onofre nuclear power plant offline.
“Essentially we have two connections to the rest of the world -- one to the north and one to the east -- and both of those connections were severed,” he said. “We actually don’t know what happened to the line. All we know is the line went out."

Well, the Feds and others were quick to point out that this was not terrorism. Really, why would they say this? This is the weekend of 9-11 and so there are terrorists who want to cause havoc.
Then you have this quote: “Essentially we have two connections to the rest of the world -- one to the north and one to the east -- and both of those connections were severed,” he said. “We actually don’t know what happened to the line. All we know is the line went out." Seems like this could be caused by a terrorist. It is very easy to take down a electrical grid, if you know what you are doing and what lines to cut.
Also, why did it fail now? There have been no wildfires in the areas, no excessive heat, no earthquakes- so it was not nature caused.
Of course, it may have been done by a Obama hater who wanted to save people from listening to President Obama's speech. Cripes, Obama just cannot get a break. First, opening day for football and now a massive power outage for his speech tonight.
So, in reality, the authorities in California and elsewhere, don't know what really happened, including if the power outage is terrorism or not. But don't be surprised if it was and don't be surprised if the Fed's try and keep it hush hush.

How Stupid Is Major League Baseball?
There are a lot of reasons to think MLB is stupid, but how stupid is MLB when they scheduled the New York Yankees to play the California Angels in California on the weekend of 9-11 annivesary?
The Yankees are a New York icon and they should have been playing in New York this weekend.
Come on, MLB, think about these things.

Wow, It's Opening Day...
And no mention of Brett Favre playing this year. Now, maybe, with 100?% certainty, Brett is finally retired.
Also, no mentioned of Favre, from what I saw, on NBC pre-game show.
The 2011 football season will Favreless for the first time since 1991.
But I bet he still thinks he can still play professional football.
Thank you
Brett thank you for your years of excitement, but please stay retired.

Peyton Manning Career Close To being Over?
Peyton Manning, quarterback of the Indianapolis and probably one of the best quarterbacks this past decade, is having more neck surgery and possibly seeing his Hall of Fame career ending prematurely.
From ESPN: Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning had further neck surgery Thursday, the team announced, his third procedure in the past 19 months.
Manning decided to have the surgery after consultation with a half-dozen doctors who reached a consensus that the most viable option would be a one-level cervical neck fusion in the wake of his May 23 surgery to repair a bulging disk. It's unclear whether Manning would be able to return to play this season.
The team said in a statement Thursday that the surgery was "uneventful" and that it would not place Manning on season-ending injured reserve and instead keep him on the active roster.
"This procedure is performed regularly throughout the country on persons from all walks of life, including professional football players. Two former Colts players had this same procedure last winter and have fully resumed their careers," the team said in the statement.
"Rehabilitation from such surgery is typically an involved process. Therefore, there will be no estimation of a return date at this time."
The team said that Manning immediately would begin the rehabilitation program prescribed by his surgeon.

3 neck surgeries in less than 2 years? At what point does it hit you and say that you are risking a very serious injury by trying to play longer.
Manning should look around and see how many fairly young former NFL players have died recently, last week it was LeRoy Selmon, or have severe injuries or dementia at young ages.
Manning has the money, has heard the cheers in high school, college and at the pro football level. He has made friends, is pretty popular and could live on his savings and his endorsements. So why would he want to come back and risk further injury? Yeah, i know, the money and the glory, but is it worth it if you end up very seriously injured or dead in 1 years?
Peyton, don't come back and enjoy your retirement.

So, The President Is Prattling On Tonight....
And the fact is a President and politicians cannot create jobs unless they are government jobs and then they have to pay for those jobs. When you are ten's of trillions in debt, that is not going to happen.
But a politician can kill jobs quite easily. Just look at how many jobs Cry Baby Harry Reid has personally killed in Nevada. He has killed Yucca Mountain and the storing of nuclear fuel there and that cost upwards to 7500 to 10,000 jobs. He killed two power plants in Northern Nevada that killed thousands of construction jobs and permanent jobs at the plants all because they were coal fired plants. Thanks Crybaby Harry.
Harry Reid, by himself, has not created one job in Nevada, except for staffing of his office, his security detail and maybe private servants and maids. But yet he has put thousands of people out of work by his influence.
So, President Obama can say all he wants about creating jobs. He can't do it. The GOP presidential candidates cannot do it and neither can Congress. What they can do is to make conditions right for businesses to hire people and the politicians are not doing that. Obama and his government people are not doing that. They are increasing regulations, harass companies like Gibson guitars and Starbucks (remember the case of the EEOC suing Starbucks because they fired a little person because of safety concerns and other stupid cases?) and they constantly threaten to raise taxes.
The GOP is not much better. They are trying to get a balanced budget amendment passed and that is just plain stupid. First, it won't happen and they don't account for severe emergencies. And why do we need an amendment to balance the budget. just balance the darn thing on your own.
The politicians should just shut up, do very little except make conditions right for hiring and let the private sector take over.
The Fed's can also help create jobs funding some needed, not make work- projects. Help with transportation projects like a freeway from Las Vegas to Phoenix, fix some infrastructure that actually needs fixing and other projects that need fixing. Repaving I-15 in Las Vegas over and over and over is not going to help.
They should decrease the time to get permits for construction and get the patent office moving efficiently and be properly funded.
And Green energy is just not going to do anything to help the economy, but the liberals don't seem to get that message and that is another reason why Obama, Reid and Pelosi's plans will fail. It is not the time to put most or all your eggs in the Green Energy basket at this time. We need to drill more oil, build oil refineries(especially in Nevada where we have so much government land, and if we need a lot of water, build a pipeline from the Pacific Ocean instead of stealing it from Northern Nevada)
So, in the end, the President will prattle on along with the GOP candidates about creating jobs and in the end, the politicians from both the Dems and GOP along with presidential appointed department heads and czars and the entrenched federal government bureaucrats will keep screwing things up and make a bad situation worse.

9-11 Sound track
We are starting to be inundated with 9-11 memorials and vigils and honoring the hero's of the day. And this has to be done because 9-11-01 and has changed the
United States forever. We are fighting at least 3 wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya and have had conflicts in other countries as well. People are still suffering from the attacks and people are still dying from the after effects of working at the World Trade Center.
And the views of Muslims and the religion of Islam has also changed. Some people have forgiven the Muslims for the attacks while others like me, do not trust moderate to radical Muslims anymore, and I am not the only one.
Anyways, here is some newly released video/audio from 9/11.
Sadly, this clip may contain a commercial, which seems kind of crass and insensetive.

Ready For The Big Night?
Tonight is the night many people have been looking forward to. No silly, not some speech by a lying and useless president, but it's opening night for Football when the Defending World Champions, Green Bay Packers (I like the sound of that) and the New Orleans Saints.
So to honor this great night, I give you the following theme songs:

Another Bad Day For Juarez Cops
Three more Juarez, Mexico police officers were killed by drug thugs today, bringing the number of Juarez police officers killed this year to 52. From the El Paso Times: Three members of the Juárez police department were shot to death Wednesday afternoon after they finished their shift at the Babicora police station, authorities said.
A woman walking near the area also was wounded and taken to a local hospital, officials said.
The officers were in a green Chevrolet Impala when they were surprised by an armed group on Avenida de Las Torres and Hacienda de las Torres street. More than 30 shots were fired toward the car, which then crashed into a pole.
At least one of the men was in his uniform. Visibly upset family members of the victims arrived at the scene about an hour after the attack, but were soon escorted away by other officers.
The shooting created a large police mobilization and a search for the shooters in nearby streets, but there were no known arrests. In the past year, 52 police officers have been killed in Juárez.
http://www.elpasotimes.com/newupdated/ci_18844940
No matter what city, state of country, a cop is a cop and to have 52 police officers killed from 1 police department is outrageous. It is like Juarez suffers a 9-11 every year where they lose 50, 60 70 or more police officers a year.
Thank goodness there are still police officers in Juarez and trying to protect it's citizens, despite the drug thugs try and kill as many cops as they can.

Finally, A TV Show For Pedophiles And Child Molesters
If you ever have watched the TV show "Dance Moms" after the show, you have to feel just a little bit dirty.
But then, pedophiles and sexual predators now have a show they can watch and get off on the kids in the show.
I hope the dance director (Abbey Lee Miller-chief pimp), the place that have the dance contests and the mom's (co-pimps) on the show are proud of themselves for all pedophiles and sexual predators getting off on their kids.
And what is to stop sexual predators and pedophiles from attending these dance shows?

OMG: I Agree With Crybaby Reid
I have never supported a balanced budget amendment for the Federal government because you never know when a 9-11 may hit or a huge natural disaster may hit the U.S. and I happenn to agree with Crybaby Harry Reid on this matter.
From the Las Vegas Sun: While Congress was on vacation, the country got walloped with a triple-whammy from Mother Nature: an uncommon earthquake shook the nation’s capital, then a hurricane flooded swaths of the East Coast, and now, wildfires are consuming millions of acres in Texas.
Those catastrophes have become Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s latest rallying cry against House Republicans' spending proposals.
“I don’t see how we, this great nation we have, can stand on the sidelines when our people are suffering,” Reid said to reporters Tuesday. “Some of my Republican colleagues are trying to – um, I was going to say something that was vulgar and I’m not going to do that. Are trying to cater to the Tea Party by holding up relief efforts.”
The complaint stems from Republicans’ push for Congress and the country to adopt a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. The amendment would limit the annual budget to the government’s annual tax intake, and also cap spending at 20 percent of GDP – a cap that could be waived by a simple majority vote in Congress in times of war or domestic security. But not necessarily in times of emergencies caused by natural disasters.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/sep/07/sen-harry-reid-cites-natural-disasters-argue-again/
Of course, the mentally challenged Karoun Demirjian said the earthquake, hurricane/rainstorms and wild fires are catastrophes in which they are not. and these events could be covered in a normal Federal budget, but there is a chance we will suffer an actual catastrophe like Katrina or 9/11 when the Muslims declared war on the U.S.. There has to be a clause in the budget amendment to address real catastrophes and at this time, i have not seen one. Crybaby Harry Reid does have a point about that. But on the other hand a minor earthquake or a minor hurricane or some wild fires should be expected each year in the Federal budget and should be budgeted for.
If the mentally challenged Karoun Demirjian included the tornado outbreaks or the floods this year, she may have a little bit more creditability, but since she is employed by the Las Vegas Sun, under the ownership of Brian, the "Coward" Greenspun, a pot and crack addicted editor of the Sun, we cannot expect much more from her.
So, every once in awhile, Crybaby Reid comes out of his dementia and actually makes some common sense. And those who call for a balanced budget amendment, need to address actual emergencies before calling for the balanced budget amendment.

This Is Different: School Principals Go On Strike, Close Schools
From the Butte Mt. Mt.Standard: Butte public schools are shuttered Wednesday after district officials and administrators failed to agree on a contract for the 2011-2012 school year.
Butte School District 1 and Teamsters’ Union 2, which represented the 15 principals, assistant principals and directors at a last-chance meeting Tuesday evening, could not strike a deal which would have allowed schools to continue to operate.
The disagreement is a 1 percent difference in the size of a salary increase for the administrators.
The school district offered a 2 percent raise on administrators’ base salary in addition to their guaranteed raises for experience. That would amount to at least a 4.4 percent annual pay increase for all the administrators.
The union countered last Friday with a proposal to accept a 1 percent raise for this year, while maintaining their request for the 4 percent experience factor increase for the administrators.
That divide could not be bridged Tuesday and a strike was called.

Metro Police Having Problems With New Radio System
From the LVRJ: A traffic stop along a lonely road. A drag-out fight with a suspect. A foot chase through a dark alley.
Every day Las Vegas cops find themselves alone in dangerous situations where the radios on their hips are the only lifeline to fellow officers.
Many officers consider their radios the most important tools they carry, which is why beat cops throughout the Metropolitan Police Department are grumbling about the agency's new $40 million radio system.
Unveiled last summer, the Desert Sky digital system expanded channel capacities, enabled advanced data communications for in-car computers, and added other features that were unavailable on the agency's aging analog system.
Since then, the Police Department has worked with the radio provider, Harris Corp., to fix bugs, dead zones and other issues as they came up. But while most problems have been fixed, the cops who rely on the radios aren't satisfied, and some even worry the radios' lack of performance could get one of them hurt or killed.
When the topic came up at a recent patrol briefing, the room filled with groans, eye rolls and "best radio in the world" sarcasm. At times, cops frustrated by their radios have turned to cellphones to call dispatchers. Some officers joke that two tin cans and string might work better.
"Nobody's happy with it because, for police work, it does not work," said officer Laurie Bisch, a patrol veteran and two-time candidate for sheriff.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/police-griping-about-radios-129285968.html
This is the new world of the secret police. Most police scanners do not pick up police calls and so the cops in the Valley, including Henderson, North Las Vegas, Metro along with Nye County, can act without people watching them, unless something happens in their immediate neighborhood. Many times, the only way the public knows about a crime is when the cops put out a press release. And the media in town have just rolled over and accepted it without complaints because it makes their job easier.
Digital radio is dangerous and has been in most areas of the country that has tried it. Communities have even dropped digital and went back to the old fashioned way of dispatch- through analog.
Badger Blogger (http://badgerblogger.com/ ) has between all over this story and they have shown that these digital radios are a danger to those who use it, including the police and fire departments.

Libertal Thugs Don't Believe In Free Speech
From Fox News: Dozens of police officers were called in to control a raucous crowd Tuesday at a luncheon with Rep. Paul Ryan, as protesters repeatedly interrupted a speech given by the Republican congressman.
Police arrested three protesters who "resisted our attempts to remove them," local Police Chief Brad Wendtlandt told FOX6 News in Milwaukee. A total of 20 were escorted from the Greenfield, Wisc., event.
The protesters demonstrated inside and outside the local Rotary Club where Ryan was speaking, criticizing him over the state of the economy. As one protester was escorted away, she shouted: "I'm being arrested because I spoke out against my congressman."
Ryan continued to give his speech despite the interruptions. He told FOX6 that he's available to speak to constituents if they come to see him at his office.
"I have listening hours. I have office hours in my office for people who schedule meetings; that's what I've been doing all month and they could have set a schedule," Ryan saidRead more: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/09/07/police-arrest-remove-protesters-from-raucous-rep-ryan-event/#ixzz1XK53xJnO
It's getting to the point that these liberal thugs are no different than those pukes from the Westboro Baptist Church who picket service members who were killed in battle.
These liberal thugs protest at Special Olympics events, when youngsters sing the national anthem and they show up everywhere making a nuisance of themselves, just like the Westboro Church jerks.
Apparently, these liberal thugs don't believe in free speech. They think they are only who should be allowed to to talk and they don't care about the others in the audience who do care about is being said.
So, liberal thugs in Wisconsin, I think you should have a meeting with the Westboro Church thugs and get to know each other, since you have so much in common.

Entire Pr Hockey Team Killed In Russia
In Russia, an entire pro hockey team was killed in an airplane crash, which included former NHL hockey players.
From ESPN: A private jet carrying a Russian professional hockey team to its first game of the season crashed shortly after takeoff Wednesday, killing 43 people -- including European and former NHL players -- in one of the worst aviation disasters in sports history. Two people survived the accident.
Both Russia and the world of hockey were left stunned by the deaths of so many international stars in one catastrophic event. Of the 45 people on board, 36 were players, coaches and team officials; eight were crew.
Dallas Stars defenseman Karlis Skrastins, Slovakian national team captain and ex-NHL player Pavol Demitra, Olympic gold medal-winning goaltender Stefan Liv of Sweden and the team's coach, former Detroit Red Wings assistant and NHL player Brad McCrimmon were among those confirmed dead.
The chartered Yak-42 jet was carrying the team -- Lokomotiv Yaroslavl -- to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, where it was to play Thursday against Dinamo Minskin its opening game of the Kontinental Hockey League season.
The plane apparently struggled to gain altitude and then hit a signal tower before breaking apart along the Volga River near Yaroslavl, 150 miles (240 kilometers) northeast of Moscow. One of the blue-and-white plane's charred engines poked through the surface of the shallow water.
Russian television showed a flaming fragment of the plane in the river as divers worked feverishly to recover bodies.

In the United States, we have never had an incident where an entire professional team was killed in an accident but we have had a college football team killed in an airplane crash in 1970. For more information: http://media.herald-dispatch.com/mucrash/index.php?p=1_61
I do know that all the professional leagues have contingencies in case of a major disaster where a team is killed or injured in an accident, which I hope and pray never happens.
R.I.P. to all the players, coaches, team members and prayers to the families, friends and fans of the team.

3rd National Guard Member Dies In Carson City Shooting, Left Wing To Blame?
Just a day after Joe Biden and Jimmy Hoffa Jr. gives firey speeches about going to war with conservatives, a Mexican with mental health problems goes on a rampage and kills 3 National Guard members in uniforms, is it coincidence or did Hoffa and Biden, with approval from President Obama make a looney person go nuts and go on a rampage? We'll never know for sure, but it certainly is a strong possibility.
From the RGH: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong confirms that a fourth victim of today’s shooting at the IHOP restaurant located in south Carson City has died. The victim was a female member of the Nevada National Guard. She had been flown to Renown Medical Center and had undergone surgery, Sheriff Furlong said. To date, four victims have died (3 Nevada National Guard members and one civilian); the shooter has also died. http://www.rgj.com/article/20110906/NEWS01/110906010/4th-person-dies-result-Carson-City-IHOP-shooting?odyssey=modbreakingtextFRONTPAGE

The Hell With The Death. Put The Thug In General Population
Some people will go to hell when they die. Hopefully, this thug will go to hell a lot sooner than most people in prison.
From the LVRJ: She had been stabbed more than 40 times, a coroner's report revealed. Her body had been doused with gasoline and was burned so badly that it took two days for authorities to identify her.
The suspect, identified Monday as 19-year-old Javier Righetti, told detectives he had raped and robbed the girl before setting her ablaze, a Las Vegas arrest report said.
Righetti was arrested at his home on the 7900 block of Willow Pines Drive, minutes from Alyssa's home and her school and less than a mile from the vacant lot where her body was found.
Police said the killing was a crime of opportunity. Righetti had never met Alyssa but lived near Grand Teton Drive, the route she walked to school.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/man-tells-police-he-raped-stabbed-and-burned-arbor-view-student-129313498.html
Scrw the death penalty, just let this thug out in the general population of the prison he is sent to and the prisoners will make sure this thug will get what's coming to him. He will meet a guy named bubba who make him his sex slave and then he will be attacked with a shank or 10 by his buddies in prison. and no one will see what happened.
On the other hand, Metro needs to take seriously missing kids reports:
Alyssa Otremba had been sick.
Not wanting to miss homework in her first week of high school, the 15-year-old Arbor View freshman walked to school Friday evening to borrow a geometry book from a friend.
She sent a text message to her mother about 6:30 p.m. that said she would be home in 30 minutes.
That was the last time her mother heard from her. Minutes stretched to hours, and the fading daylight turned to black.
"The police convinced Alyssa's mother that she was out partying," said close family friend Olivia Murphy, "and to wait until morning."
That is unforgivable for Metro to say something like this. Whoever said this took the lazy way out and probably is too jaded to work the missing people's detail. Time for a job change or quit the force.
This is a sad situation for the family and friends of Alyssa and hopefully the thug that did this too her, will receive the same kind of punishment the thug gave Alyssa.

More Moronic Comedy From The Pahrump Valley Times

From A PVT Editorial: But, we have to admit, it is not an enviable task, what we sometimes put people in positions of power through. For all we know, Ms. Matson’s financial problems have perfectly reasonable explanations that would be worth hearing if she would just comment. We feel for her supporters as well. No one likes to see their friend or political compatriots on the receiving end of negative publicity. We, for that matter, don’t like being called “communists” or “California socialists” by whack jobs with nothing better to do than to obfuscate issues that should be pretty cut and dry — racist politicians aren’t welcome here.http://pvtimes.com/news/editorial-board-we-tackle-touchy-stories-take-our-lumps-learn-our-lesson-and-do-it-again/ So, these idiots don't like being called names but in the very same editorial, the call us conservatives wing nuts. In fact, in the very sentence, they call people names.
Seriously, these idiots call themselves journalists?
More from the Whack jobs and Matt Ward of the PVT: We will take our lumps from the wingnuts. But Matson and her supporters can rest assured, that tax lien story is not the end of our reporting.
Seriously, Matt Ward and the PVT Editorial board, is it the water in Pahrump that makes you stupid or is it your upbringing? Maybe it is that you are liberals that make you stupid. I honestly don't know. but you guys are a laugh a minute with your incompetence as journalists and writers. You pretend you are muckrakers like mike Royko or Studs Terkel, but you are not. You are more like Bozo the clown and you have big red hair on your head and a big red ball on your nose.
A Few Thoughts On The Carson City Shooting
Today a gunman shot and killed 3 people. From the Reno Gazette Herald: UPDATE 7:45 p.m.: The gunman went all the way to the back of the restaurant to the back area and opened fire, Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong said.
When the gunman left the restaurant, he stood in the parking lot and shot into the nearby businesses, shattering the windows of a barbecue restaurant and an H&R Block and a casino across the street....
5:42 p.m. update: Authorities gave a few more details Tuesday afternoon about a fatal multiple shooting at a Carson City IHOP earlier that day, but the motive for the attack that left four dead, including the gunman, and eight more wounded remained unknown.
FBI Supervisory Special Agent Michael West said at a news conference shortly after 5 p.m. that there was no sign the attack by Eduardo Sencion, 32, was an act of terrorism and nothing outside of the victims — five of which were National Guard members either partially or fully in uniform — to indicate Sencion was targeting the Guard specifically.
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said at that news conference that two of the three slain victims were male Guardsman. The other deceased was a civilian woman. All were shot inside the International House of Pancakes. Authorities said that at least one person was shot outside the restaurant.
There were “words said,” during the incident, West said, but it was unclear what was actually spoken.
He said Sencion, a Carson City resident, used a version of an AK-47 but it was unknown if it was an automatic weapon. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said at the news conference that another AK-47 variant and a pistol were found at the scene, but were not fired during the attack.
Furlong described Sencion as single and born in Mexico but possessing a U.S. passport. At an earlier news conference, he said that Sencion had no criminal record and was not in the military.
Out of the eight wounded, three had “relatively minor” wounds — which meant they were shot in a limb or extremity, Furlong said at the early-evening conference. He said the other five were shot in “critical” areas. He did not have updates on anyone’s condition.
“This is a real tragic event,” Furlong said.
The five National Guard members — two women and three men — were having an informal meeting at the IHOP, he said.

First, how did a Mexican with mental issues be able to get ahold of a AK-47 or any other gun or rifle? First, the fact he had mental health issues should have been a disqualifer for him to getting ahold of any firearm. But is this guy a U.S,. citizen? It said he had a U.S. passport, but that doesn't automatically mean he has U.S. citizenship and how did they know he had a U.S. passport?.
If this person had mental health issues, why was he allowed into the United States in the first place?
His family is a piece of shit also, from the RGH: But in a follow-up call after a reporter verified Eduardo Sencion’s address and employer, the man at the Tahoe market identified himself as Gilberto Sencion Gonzalez, 46. He said he was Eduardo’s elder brother and admitted knowing about the shootings.
Gilberto said he arrived in South Lake Tahoe from Sacramento on Tuesday afternoon to find the Mi Pueblo Market closed. He said he had just found out about his relative’s rampage.
“I feel very sorry about what happened,” he said. “I feel very sorry about those people. I’m trying to find out what happened…How would you feel if your mom or your dad did this thing?”
He declined to discuss whether Eduardo had any mental health problems. He said he didn’t think he was angry about anything. Gilberto said he expected more media calls.
“You guys (the media) are going to make a lot of money from this,” he said. “In order for me to give you more information you will have to pay me a lot of money too.”
He declined to say anything further.
I certainly hope their family business goes under because of this and if this is their attitude, Mexico, I hear, is a nice place to visit, especially Juarez, Mexico. Take a hike, you bums.
this sounds like a sick shooting by a person with mental health issues who should never had access to a gun and the family of shooters are some of the biggest a=hole is which they want to profit off what their relative did. Get rid of them all, even if they are in the U.S. legally.

Why Some Bicyclists Get Killed
I was driving down St. Rose Parkway in Henderson today, and St. Rose is about as close to being a freeway as you can get without being an official freeway. For much of the road, the speed limit is 55 and at the northern end, just before you get to the I-215, the speed limit drops down to about 45.
Today, we had a close encounter with a bicycle rider and it almost ended badly, for the bicyclist, as he almost ended up like a bug on a wind shield.
We were in the 2nd lane of traffic to the right, and it was a right turn only lane and the was a bicycle rider who was bound and determined to get in front of our car and move over to the third lane. This rider had all the bells and whistles of a good rider- the bike clothes, helmet, expensive bike and an I-Pod on his arm. He tried to move over, but didn't use any arm signals or made any attempt to indicate he wanted move over. He just tried to move over when our car was about 2 feet in back of him. We slammed on our brakes and blew our horn to indicate our displeasure with him being a jerk.
He eventually got into the third lane and at the stop light, he blew through a red light.
While it is sad when someone dies in a car-bike accident, when you have jerks like this guy, it is not surprising when bicyclists die in accidents.

North Las Vegas Bad Deal
Supposedly, the North Las Vegas police officers and the City of North Las Vegas has come to an agreement on their latest contract and it is a horrible contract for NLV and it's residents.
From the LVRJ: North Las Vegas and the police officers union have reached a tentative concessions agreement that, if approved by the City Council, will save the cash-strapped city's recreation centers, Mayor Shari Buck said Tuesday.
The agreement, which includes suspending a January cost-of-living raise for the 360-member Police Officers Association, will save the city about $2 million through June 2012....
The agreement with the larger police union includes suspending a 1.13 percent cost-of-living raise scheduled for January. But that raise will be added to a separate cost-of-living raise scheduled for July.
It also includes suspending a December uniform allowance until July.
Buck acknowledged the agreement could be seen as simply kicking the problem down the road.
"We'll have to renegotiate again in July," she said.
Councilwoman Anita Wood said she was struggling over whether to support the agreement.
"It's really a bad deal, and yet you hate to not take the little bit they're offering," she said. "It will ensure the rec centers will stay open through June 30, but will we be able to keep them open past then?"
The agreement also isn't fair to the city's other unions that have offered up more concessions in recent years, she said.
"It's creating a very negative dynamic here in the workplace," she said.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/deal-with-police-union-may-save-north-las-vegas-rec-centers-129345593.html
The only reason why Mayor Buck is presenting this contract proposal is that she is facing a possible recall because of her incompetence in running the City. This doesn't save the City of North Las Vegas any money and in July, the same song and dance will happen.
This is just another example of Mayor Buck's incompetence and her willing to throw the City under the bus for political reasons.

The next guy brought in some old Japanese video games. There were 3 games, Dig Dug, Super Dodge ball and one other Kung Fu game. I loved the Dig Dug game but never played the others . The guy wanted $4500 and Corey offered $450 and then $500 for the three and then $600. The guy then wanted $1000 and $600 was the selling price.
The next lady came in with a necklace given to her by Elvis Presley. It had over a pound of gold in it. The lady wanted $400,000. Rick offered $20,000. She came down to $250,000 and but there was no deal.
In the second episode, the first guy brought in a spoon owned by General Robert E. Lee and a pipe from Ulysses Grant. The spoon and Lee's name on them and the pipe had a cariture of Grant. The guy wanted $8000 and Rick offered $3500 and then $4000 and a selling price of $4100.
The next lady brought in 4 volumes of Don Quixote books. The books were the 4th edition which was printed in 1731. Time for an expert and said the books were worth around $1800 and Rick offered $1000 and that was the deal.
The next guy brought in a 1960's metal detector. Alexander Graham Bell invented the detector. The guy wanted $150 and Rick offered $50 and then $60 and that was the deal.
Thenext guy brought in a practice bomb from the Vietnam War. The guy wanted @200 and Rick offered $75 and the selling price $85.
The next guy brought in a horshoe from triple crown winner, Secretariat. He had also had some hair from the horse's mane. Time for an expert. Jeramey came in and said the shoe came from Secretariat and may have been used in a race. He thought the shoe was worth around $2000. The guy wanted $4500 and Corey offered $1500 and there was no sale.
That wraps another 2 new episodes of Pawn Stars. Hope your week goes well and thanks for stopping by.
Even The Liberal Papers Are Not Happy
The Reno Gazette Herald, along with the Associated Press are starting to actually report the actual news instead of sugar coating the news to please their master, President Obama.
From RGH: The job market is even worse than the 9.1 percent unemployment rate suggests.
America's 14 million unemployed aren't competing just with each other. They must also contend with 8.8 million other people not counted as unemployed — part-timers who want full-time work.
When consumer demand picks up, companies will likely boost the hours of their part-timers before they add jobs, economists say. It means they have room to expand without hiring.
And the unemployed will face another source of competition once the economy improves: Roughly 2.6 million people who aren't counted as unemployed because they've stopped looking for work. Once they start looking again, they'll be classified as unemployed. And the unemployment rate could rise.
Intensified competition for jobs means unemployment could exceed its historic norm of 5 percent to 6 percent for several more years. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office expects the rate to exceed 8 percent until 2014. The White House predicts it will average 9 percent next year, when President Barack Obama runs for re-election.
http://www.rgj.com/article/20110904/BIZ/110904011/Unemployed-face-tough-competition-underemployed?odyssey=tabtopnewstextFRONTPAGE
This story would never would have run a year ago because the press is overwhelming liberal and to throw Obama under the bus was unheard of a year ago.
But the number one rule of the media is to sell newspapers, magazines and get high ratings on the radio and TV and right now, bashing Obama is making the media money.
More from the article: Some groups are disproportionately represented among the broader category of unemployment that includes underemployed and discouraged workers. More than 26 percent of African Americans, for example, and nearly 22 percent of Hispanics are in this category. The figure for whites is less than 15 percent. Women are more likely than men to be in this group.
So, please tell me again why the African American and Hispanic communities are supporting Obama? The Democrats and Obama are taking Blacks and Hispanics for granted and they could easily see the minorities staying home on election day next November because Obama and the Democrats like Shelly Berkley of Nevada will only campaign in the well to do areas of cities instead of spending time in the inner cities.
Note to the GOP candidate: Spend significant amount of time in the poverty areas while campaigning and you will be able to get some voters to vote for you.

Strange Weather Drives Bettors Crazy
This long Labor Day weekend, including Thursday, has seen it's share of havoc on sporting events around the Country.
The NASCAR race in Atlanta has been postponed until 8:00 AM (Pacific time) Tuesday and there is still no guarantee that he race will held then.
Several college football games were delayed because of rain. The biggest game delayed was the Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs the South Florida Bulls that was played on national TV and the game was delayed about 3 hours.
Then, there have been some games declared over early because of some storms. The Michigan vs Western Michigan game was called with 1:27 left in the 3rd quarter and with Michigan leading. Meanwhile the game played today between Marshall and West Virginia was called with 5 minutes left in the game. West Virginia was stomping Marshall 34-13.
Because the Michigan and West Virginia games ended early, the game was considered to be not played by the sports books in town. From the LVRJ: Michigan, a 14-point favorite, was on the way to a cover while a majority of bettors counted their winnings. But school officials opted to stop the action and declare it a Wolverines win for the record books.
Of course, Nevada's sports books view it differently. According to the posted rules, there was no winner and wagers were refunded. For betting purposes, a football game is considered action after 55 minutes.
"It was kind of wacky. There have been some crazy weather games, but I've never seen that," MGM Resorts sports book director Jay Rood said. "I would rather have seen the game get in and played than end the way it did, when maybe some people feel like they were cheated.
"We were going to lose on the game. That was by far the biggest public-backed game on the board. The ticket count was ridiculous, like 20-1 for Michigan."
So the first weather-shortened game in the 132-year history of Michigan football was a money-back guarantee for both sides, even the lucky non-losers on the underdog.

So, the sports books got lucky when the Michigan game ended early because there was heavy betting on Michigan.
I don't ever recall so many football games, except high school games, being delayed or ending early during a single weekend, I don't know if the home teams and referees are being more cautious or just bad luck.
However, safety is first and foremost. There was a report of a fan being hit by lightening in West Virginia, but it may have been a false alarm. From the Sporting News: West Virginia officials denied a report that a fan was struck by lightning during a weather delay in the Mountaineers' game Sunday vs. Marshall.
"Contrary to a report on ESPN, there have been no reports to law enforcement or emergency officials of a fan being struck or affected by lightning at the West Virginia-Marshall University football game," according to a statement released by West Virginia University Relations after the game.
Fans had been asked to leave their seats at the time of the delay midway through the third quarter, but some fans were still in the upper deck when lightning hit near the top of Milan Puskar Stadium.
Play was delayed for nearly three hours due to lightning and thunderstorms before play resumed at 8:50 p.m. ET. About 20 minutes after the resumption, play was again stopped because of lightning.
The game eventually was called with 14:36 to play in the fourth quarter, with West Virginia leading 34-13. Officials from both schools decided it was unsafe for the game to resume.

So, Mother Nature is letting us know who is in charge and who is more powerful. That, or maybe Mother Nature took Western Michigan and the points with her bet at the Flamingo.

Difference Between Patterson NJ And Minot ND
Patterson, NJ and Minot, ND recently have gone through floods. Patterson got hit by Hurricane Irene and suffered some flooding while Minot has been suffering through flooding from the Souris River for much of the Spring and Summer.
Today, on the CBS News radio news, a lady was heard talking to President Obama and say something to the effect: "send us money. don't send it tomorrow, send it now".
In Minot, ND, President Obama has refused to visit the site of this disaster, where several thousand people lost their homes to flooding. The residents of Minot are not demanding that the federal bring money to the city right away. In fact, FEMA is helping out quietly with trailer homes and providing some money to the area. Most of the people in North Dakota are self sufficient and don't rely on the federal government to survive.
In Patterson, NJ, send us the money. Minot, ND- we'll be as self sufficient as possible. And we don't need Obama to make us feel better.

Is Jerry Lewis Dead? MDA Thinks So
I just got done watching the first 10 minutes of the MDA and watching the "hosts" of the telethon, it sounded like they were giving Jerry Lewis an eulogy at his funeral instead of praising Jerry Lewis for his work. It was rather disgusting. It was also disgusting when they lied when they said Lewis retired. If he retired, he certainly was helped out the door.
The stupidest quote comes from one of the male hosts(I have never heard of any of the hosts before) The guy said that no one could replace Jerry Lewis. Huh? MDA just replaced the man who they said they couldn't replace.
I still hold out hope that Lewis does show up at the very end of the show to give the thanks he deserves in person.

Horrible Glenn Lerner TV CommercialIn Las Vegas
This is for those who live in Las Vegas and are bombarded by Glen Lerner's commercial.
Glenn Lerner is an ambulance chasing attorney who makes unethical lawyers look like saints. 2 years ago, he was sanctioned by a Clark County judge for missing/dissing a murder trial in which he was the defendent's attorney.
From the LVRJ: A District Court judge sanctioned personal injury attorney Glen Lerner on Friday for missing the first day of a client's murder trial in January.
District Judge Michelle Leavitt ordered Lerner, known in his law firm's advertisements as "Heavy Hitter," to pay $2,490 in jury fees and state costs and cover the attorney's fees for the new murder trial of his former client, Mario Lino.
Lino is now represented by the public defender's office.
Leavitt could have held Lerner in contempt and jailed him.
Appearing in court in a blue suit, Lerner apologized profusely for missing the Jan. 22 trial date and took full responsibility for the mistake.
In contrast to his often humorous commercials, Lerner was subdued throughout the hearing.....
She said she was angry at the lack of respect Lerner showed the court when he failed to show up to the January trial. She also was miffed that a few days before the trial, Lerner left a message on a prosecutor's voice-mail saying the judge could sanction him for missing the trial if she wanted to, but he wasn't returning to Las Vegas from Pennsylvania, where he was on a "sabbatical."
Leavitt called the incident "surreal."
Lerner said the voice-mail was part of his tough negotiating strategy but conceded it was a lot of "huff and puff."
"I was posturing, I am way too old to be leaving silly messages like that," he said.
Lino, 41, has been in the county jail since May. He is accused of killing a man he suspected was having an affair with his wife. Lino faces a possible life sentence.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/16702786.html
Lerner is also known for his very irritating commercials on TV and the radio, but in his latest commercial, Lerner crosses the line in taste, not that Lerner has any taste to begin with.
It shows a man answering the phone as a 911 telephone operator. He starts out saying "911 operator, what is your emergency". Then the operator is informed that is a car accident and the 911 operator then asks if the "victim" wants a Glen Lerner app for their cell phone. They then say you can video the accident scene, describe what happened and collect witnesses names. The "victim" is a young female who is made out to be a dim wit. The announcer answers the phone and mention the aps 3 times in the 30 second commercial.
For me, the commercial degrades 911 operators everywhere and there are some people who are stupid enough to be swayed by this commercial. (Just look at all the Obama voters- nah, just kidding)
But Lerner just goes over the line with his degrading commercials using fake 911 operators and he should pull the commercials.

How Terribly Sad
From the Las Vegas Sun: A junior at Faith Lutheran High School — and younger sister of 22-year-old homicide victim Michael Portaro — died Saturday night in a four-wheeler accident.
Christina Portaro was riding on the back of an ATV with a friend in Brian Head, Utah, when she fell off, said family friend Ron Futrell. She died instantly.
She had been spending the weekend with friends, Futrell said. The Portaro family is in Brian Head grieving privately, he said.
The tragedy is the second to befall the Portaro family this year. In March, Michael Portaro, a former Faith Lutheran quarterback and aspiring hip-hop artist, was slain outside the Tenaya Creek Brewery while selling tickets to an upcoming concert.
Metro Police arrested a suspect in connection with his murder in June.
“I don’t know how much the family is asked to go through with both these situations,” Futrell said.
In the wake of her brother’s death, Futrell said Christina Portaro was “there every step of the way helping the family out.”
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/sep/04/atv-accident-claims-life-girl-compounding-tragedy-/
It's hard enough to lose one child but to lose two kids within a couple of months of each other has to be a horrible, horrible experience. The story of Job comes to mind.
Please keep the Portaro family in your prayers.

MDA Telethon: The Good, the Bad And The Ugly
Today, the MDA Telethon returns to the air for it's 59th annual telethon, but this time, without Jerry Lewis for the first time since again, 1952. http://www.mda.org/telethon/
There has been controversy as this year's show is without Jerry Lewis and it appears he was fired instead of allowed to bow out graciously. There has been talk about whether he will show up or not, and right now, I would say there is a 60% he will not show up. Since I live in Las Vegas and the Pacific time zone, I'll be one of the last people to find out.
I also think, since Jerry Lewis is gone, the telethon will last only 1-2 more years because Jerry is/was the show and I don't think the stars they have on the show today will want to be on the show if Jerry is not there. Some more information from the Las Vegas Sun:The question was posed in a TV studio located, of all places, near Dean Martin Drive and Jerry Lewis Way.
“MSNBC Sunday” host Alex Witt asked it: How can it be that Jerry Lewis won’t be onstage at the South Point this evening to say a proper goodbye at the MDA Telethon?
“Do we know if this is health related?” Witt asked, reasonably, as Lewis is 85 years old and as recently as June had to miss an appearance on behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation of Australia, citing physical exhaustion.
But no, Lewis certainly seems healthy enough to appear on television for 10 minutes, physically robust enough to sing a song and say goodbye. His appearance Aug. 20 at the Nevada Broadcasters Association dinner at Red Rock Resort reinforced that he is in good shape, and his omission from the telethon is not for failing health.
“It is somewhat inconceivable that the MDA Telethon will go on without Jerry Lewis,” Witt added, with mounting incredulity. “When you talk to people, are they scratching their heads and saying, ‘Really? The telethon with no Jerry Lewis?’ ”
Simple answer: Yes.
Officially, the Big Why remains unanswered. What can be said at this moment is Lewis is not part of the 46th MDA Telethon because MDA officials and he never could arrive at an agreeable context and format for what would be Lewis’ historic final appearance. A late-arriving effort to record Lewis performing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” with an orchestra Thursday at South Point collapsed Wednesday morning.

More information here: The hosts of the 46th annual Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon said Sunday that Jerry Lewis retired from the yearly fundraiser — the organization’s first comments about the beloved icon’s departure since an announcement last month.
Lewis publicist Candi Cazau declined comment to the Associated Press when told of the comments to open the telethon on Sunday.
Co-host Nigel Lythgoe said during his opening comments on the telethon that he didn’t realize Lewis, 85, was thinking about retirement during the show last year, when the comedian offered Lythgoe his seat as Lewis took a break and Lythgoe was coming on the air.
“He made such a big point about it. 'I’ve never done this before,' he said,” said Lythgoe, the executive producer of “American Idol.” “I didn’t realize then that he was contemplating retiring.
“And Jerry, and I know you’re watching, when you gave me that chair I know it’s possible to sit on it, but it’s isn’t possible, Jerry, to replace you, sir,” he said. “What you have done for this organization and its families is something close to a miracle and I know that we all want to carry on your legacy.”

That is a load of BS. and if he retired, you would think the MDA would have given him a few minutes to say good bye.
I have mixed feelings about the telethon:
The Good: The MDA telethon has raised awareness of Muscular Dystrophy and other disabilities. It has raised money to provide services and equipment to the kids who have MD. Also, the money has gone for research, but sadly, there has not been much positive research as kids still get MD. There have been no cures, no immunizations or other ways to prevent MD.
The Bad: I have always thought Jerry Lewis has exploited the kids on the show. No doubt, he loves them very much, but they are not his kids. I work the severely disabled and I hate when they are exploited, even if it has some benefits. But then, if Lewis did not exploit the kids and make seem like they are totally helpless, then the money going into the MDA would be much lower.
The Ugly: The way MDA has treated Jerry Lewis this year has been ugly. From what I have heard, Lewis can be difficult to work with, but to throw away 52 years without saying good bye is also wrong.
I also have this little thought gnawing at my brain: the MDA has raised billions of dollars for MDA and they will raise ten's of millions today. What incentive do the researchers have to find a cure for MD? If they find a cure, then the money dries up and the researchers lose their gravy train. I would hope that is not the case, but then stranger things have happened.

The LVRJ List Of Pro Football Bars: 2011
From the LVRJ: Well, it was touch-and-go there for a while, pigskin fans. But NFL players and owners finally came to their senses, settled their differences and decided to let the 2011 season commence, sparing us the sight of at least a game or two with replacement players.
Seriously, did anything good come out of that 1987 strike other than a movie in which we actually liked Keanu Reeves? Didn't think so.
Anyway, praise be the ghosts of Lombardi, Halas and Brown, the 2011 NFL season kicks off (we never tire of that pun) Thursday, and that mean it's time to unveil our annual list of Southern Nevada bars, taverns and restaurants that cater to fans of specific NFL teams.
As always, we present this list for the benefit of rabid but displaced hometown fans who prefer to watch their teams play while surrounded only by fellow fans of their teams, creating the ambience of a day at the game or, at the very least, watching the game in your living room with some good buds.
Therefore, we don't include sports bars, sports books or places where other games are shown while the hometown team's game is on. If your favorite bar doesn't appear here, it's because the bar doesn't fit our criteria as a team bar, because the bar's owner or manager didn't call us or didn't call us by our deadline, or because the bar requires fans to fork out a membership fee to join a backers club before allowing them to partake of game day goodies.
So, we now present to you 52 NFL team bars (down, if you're a stats freak, from last year's record-setting 72). This year's roster of teams without bars is made up of the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, St. Louis Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans and Washington Redskins.

Cathy and I go to the Rum Runner on Boulder Highway: Rum Runner, 6658 Boulder Highway (near Russell Road), 451-7357. Food specials include a Packers Backers breakfast menu featuring such items as eggs with bacon or sausage for $5.59, two eggs with a New York steak for $7.99 and biscuits and gravy for $1.99, and a $2 bratwurst buffet at halftime. Drink specials include 25-ounce Pabst Blue Ribbon or Hamm's drafts for $3, 20-ounce Miller Lite drafts for $2.50 and $1 schnapps shots.
If you pay about $35 a person, which is good for the entire season, you can get some low cost beer and drinks, participate in their mini-halftime buffet and there is a drawing for Packer merchandise every game. It's a nice little bar and the people are friendly, unless you are a Bear fan and come to the bar with your Bear jersey on and root for the Bears. If you do that, then there maybe some friendly trash talking going on.
As usual, Da Bears have the most bars rooting for Chicago with 9.
So, go out to your favorite watering hole, cheer for your team, drink responsibly, tip your bartender/waitress and have some fun.

Some People Just Should Not Be A Pilot
From the Reno Gazette Herald: A small plane took off from Burning Man and crashed upon its return Friday night, Washoe County sheriff's Sgt. Doug Brady said Saturday.
The pilot and a passenger walked away from the crash, though the pilot called it a "hard landing," Brady said.
The crash was on the Smoke Creek side of Burning Man, Brady said.
He said the pilot wasn't entirely sure about how to land his plane.

The pilot and passenger are darn lucky they were not killed along with others on the ground near Burning Man because of the pilot's stupidity.
If this pilot does have a pilot's license, it should be revoked immediately and run an inquiry as to how this fool got his license in the first place.
I just wonder how many more pilots like this are out there flying?

Ralston Shows His Liberal Stripes Again Or How Ralston Hearts Democrats
Jon Ralston is a columnist for the Las Vegas Sun, Reno Gazette Herald and hosts a political interview show in Nevada. Ralston also pretends he is neutral when it comes to politics and claims he is a hard hitting journalists who asks tough questions . Never mind that Ralston is always being humped by Harry Reid and will go after a Democrat every third blue moon, just to pretend that he is neutral reporter.
Well, Jon Ralston, in today's column, does the Democrats bidding against the Nevada State Education Association.
From the supposedly fair and balanced Ralston: Let’s hope that most teachers don’t share the values of the union that represents too many of them.
When it released a so-called report card on state lawmakers last week, the Nevada State Education Association exposed itself as a hypocritical and disingenuous — not to mention thoroughly ineffective — advocacy group. The union failed the Legislature in its bizarre, capricious grading system; but NSEA really failed the members it supposedly represents and the students whose interests it is supposed to care about.
And to what end? To rile up teachers to get more members? Why would any teacher want to be part of an organization that declares a Legislature controlled by the party it is aligned with has acted in ways inimical to their well-being?
They are either the worst, most ineffectual lobbying group in the state or they are advocating for the wrong things. Or — dare I say it? — both.
There are so many aspects of this report card that deserve scorn that it’s hard to know where to begin. So let’s start with the kernel of truth in the report: Yes, the Gang of 63 has serially failed to take education seriously, both in funding and accountability, passing incremental measures that don’t provide enough money or enough reform.
Fine. But for the teachers union to argue, as it does in the report card and accompanying text, that the NSEA folks are “leaders in the education reform debate” is not just laughable but outrageous. And even though it did not intend to in the packet — which can be found here — the union exposed itself.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/sep/04/teachers-union-fails-members/
So, Ralston, once again, does the Democrats bidding by criticizing the NSEA for grading state legislators. Well, let's see what Ralston says about the NSEA and the GOP: Yes, you expect an unimaginative group such as this to give every Republican an F. Yep, that's it; totally blows off the GOP, which again, shows the extreme bias of Ralston. (This is the same Ralston, who lied about election polls and showed he is a racist when he called out Brian Sandoval saying he wasn't Hispanic enough and used as a source, an avowed racist who offered no proof to the charges against Sandoval)
Then Ralston, in today's column, continues his rant against the NSEA: But to downgrade Democrats for voting for reforms, including those who have fought long and hard for more funding, is ludicrous. I guess when these teachers instruct students about that old saw, “Hold your friends close and your enemies closer,” they change it to: “Screw your friends and make your enemies more hostile.”
And if you ever wondered if your son or daughter didn’t do well in school because a teacher didn’t like him or her, NSEA reveals that its report card is “based on voting records and the experience of the NSEA lobbying team.”
What?
One Democratic legislator who did relatively well in the survey lamented how a friend with an identical voting record received a D because of a lack of solicitousness to the union lobbyists. It’s almost inconceivable.
All of this is so beyond the pale that you half expect an announcement will be forthcoming indicating this is parody and that the teachers were just showing us what a great sense of humor they have. It is that loony.
But, from what I can tell, very few lawmakers are chuckling. And even though the union folks deny it, Assembly Democrats are astounded that they are being told no union support will be forthcoming unless they agree to vote against evil reformer Debbie Smith, a ferocious education advocate awarded a D grade, for speaker.
I just wonder how much money the Democrats paid Ralston to write this article and if he wasn't paid, the Dem's certainly called in a few favors for this column to be written by Ralston.
I am no fan of the teacher's union, even though I do belong to the NSEA. I only belong because if you want to join the local, you have to join the NSEA and the NEA. The NSEA is pretty much irrelevant in the State of Nevada All they really do is lobby State government and not much more than that. I do find the ratings of the legislators to be silly, especially rating every GOP legislator, an F just because they a GOP member.
But Ralston shows once again, he is just a lackey for the Democratic Party and when the Dem's tell Ralston to jump, he yells how high and then jumps around like the Easter Bunny.
Most radio talk show hosts are proud they are conservative or liberal and even most newspaper columnists are not shy about their beliefs. But Ralston refuses to admit that he has a severe dislike of conservatives and he enjoys being a love slave for the Democrats
Just pathetic, Jon, just pathetic.

LVRJ:Editorial Get's It Right
From today's LVRJ editorial: Barack Obama has long admired Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Now he and the 32nd president share a special distinction.
For the first time since the end of FDR's time in the White House, the economy in August showed a net job change of zero, fanning more talk of the "R" word.
"Underlying job growth needs to improve immediately in order to avoid a recession," economist Ryan Wang told The Associated Press.
Unemployment remained at 9.1 percent, while previous job growth figures for June and July were adjusted down to show 58,000 fewer jobs added than previously thought.
"There is no silver lining in this one," Steve Blitz, senior economist at ITG Investment Research, told the AP. "It is difficult to walk away from these numbers without the conclusion that the economy is simply grinding to a halt.
The question now becomes: At what point -- after almost three years in office and billions of debt and "stimulus" -- will this administration admit that the policies it has implemented to right the U.S. economy have, to be generous, not fared very well?
http://www.lvrj.com/opinion/-no-silver-lining-in-this-one-129179128.html
It's about time that President Obama man's up and admit that his economic policies have failed and it's time to try and do something different.
Here are some suggestions:
1. Stop putting money into green energy companies and projects and give it to projects that will benefit more people. One suggestion would be an interstate highway from Las Vegas to Phoenix.
2. Reduce regulations and proposed regulations. Obama has finally realized this when he put on hold some regulations dealing with the EPA.
3. Stop placing blame of the economy on other people. You are the president, the most powerful person on Earth, starting acting like one and take responsibility.
4. If there is a second stimulus, it has to be paid for by cutting other federal expenses, selling federal land, building and equipment and cutting out waste. And the stimulus cannot be used solely to protect government and union jobs only, like the first stimulus did.
5. Stop all the talk about singling out the rich to raise taxes on. However, close loopholes for businesses, like GE, so most companies pay their fair share of taxes.
6. Encourage oil companies to start drilling for more oil, especially in the Gulf of Mexico, Alaska and other areas. This will employee thousands of people and reduce energy prices.
7. Stop listening to people like Harry Reid. Reid is a good politician, but he is not particularly intelligent. He knows how to play politics but he does not live in the real world.
8. Start visiting inner city areas, instead of ignoring them. These areas are your base and you need to get to know them and see how they are suffering under your rule.
9. Realize, President Obama, you can only do so much as a president, don't try and over do it. Spending and/or printing money is not going to solve this problem.
10. We need a leader, like a Ronald Reagan, who gives us confidence. Stop being such a wimp, President Obama and start being a leader. You have been a wimp your entire presidency, now it is time to step up and be a leader.

Quote Of The Day
From the Las Vegas Sun: Commissioner Tom Collins said the proposal has no chance at being adopted. “The likeliness of that thing passing is about the same as a whore with no teeth winning a beauty pageant,” he said.
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/sep/03/some-question-need-new-rules-protect-desert-tortoi/
The story is actually a good story about how bureaucrats, in this case, for Clark County, and how they abuse their power.
From the Sun article: A study of Clark County’s protections for desert tortoises and other wildlife could lead to higher fees for development and an expansion of the area covered by the protections.
Although still in its early stages, a proposal to modify the county’s Multi-Species Habitat Conservation Plan could raise the fees from $550 to $1,600 an acre; expand by up to 200,000 acres the area covered by wildlife restrictions; and reduce the number of animals designated for research, from several dozen to fewer than 20.
“With climate change and renewable energy development (taking up thousands of acres of desert) ... and two decades of pretty much unmanaged breakneck-pace growth, we have to step up our game,” Nevada Conservation League Executive Director Scot Rutledge said.
Climate change is affecting the desert? How, making it hotter. So, how does that affect sand? Further, Las Vegas has more grass, trees, flowers and other green vegetation than there was 100 years ago. That should help the tortoises, not harm them. and if the Desert Tortoise is so much in danger, why are the tortoises being kept as pets in the Las Vegas Valley?
Commissioner Steve Sisolak says it best: Commissioner Steve Sisolak said he doesn’t see the sense in pushing ahead with plans to preserve and protect animals on land that won’t be touched for years. The commissioner, whose district includes a habitat of relocated tortoises, thinks the drive to adopt a new plan has as much to do with a handful of government employees wanting to remain relevant while development is on hold as it does protecting wildlife.
“I think they want to expand their empire at the expense of development and other worthwhile causes,” Sisolak said. “It’s the tortoises, the frog, the butterfly, the mustard plant. It’s kind of like a black hole. You cannot throw enough money into this thing.”
To understand how the money is spent, Sisolak ordered the Desert Conservation Program to report on expenditures of money received from fees and through a federal land program. That report is scheduled to be delivered at Tuesday’s County Commission meeting.
“We should definitely protect endangered species, but we’ve studied this for a good 20 years. It’s gone too far,” Sisolak said.
Finally, we had the best quote of the day, now, here is dumbest quote from Scot Rutledge: But Rutledge admits that political opposition to changes appears strong. That’s a worry because “politics are going to make the decision, not the science.”
And, Mr. Rutledge, what is the science? Or maybe you really mean, "I am irrelevant and I have no clue what I am talking about."
So, thanks to Sisolak and Collins, this plan by the irrelevant Mr. Rutledge, seems like it is dead in the water.

Las Vegas Sun's Guide To Football Bars
The Las Vegas Sun put out a pathetic list of football bars in Las Vegas, but it is a list, nonetheless. The bars listed probably had to pay to get on their list:
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2011/sep/03/get-couch-and-watch-your-fellow-fans-these-valley-/
They only list 1 bar per team. The LVRJ should be coming out with a much bigger list pretty soon.

Crybaby Reid, Dem's Screw Disaster Relief
It could be easily said that Crybaby Harry Reid(Dumbass-NV) and the U.S. Senate Democrats are in desperate need of disaster relief as their policies have been a total disaster, but that's for another day.
It seems though, that the Democrats in the Senate are holding hostage funding for disaster relief over a bunch of wind up/battery cars.
From the Wall Street Journal: Rahm Emanuel may have decamped to Chicago, but Democrats in Washington still won't let a good crisis go to waste. Their current gambit is to use Hurricane Irene as a pretext to prevent spending cuts to one of Washington's most notorious boondoggles.
This week the left-wing press has been attacking House Majority Leader Eric Cantor for holding disaster relief funding "hostage." A more accurate way to put this is that Senate Democrats won't approve new funding for disasters unless they get the funding they want for corporations that make electric cars.
Here's the story: In June, House Republicans passed the 2012 Homeland Security appropriations bill, which included an amendment adding $1 billion to the Disaster Relief Fund of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). In a sensible move for taxpayers, the amendment offsets this new disaster funding by cutting spending on the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan Program. This may ring a bell with readers as the funding conduit for one of Washington's adventures in crony capitalism.

Crybaby Reid has his head so far up the butt of green energy companies that he and the Democrats cannot see reality. Green energy has been almost a total failure. Earlier this week, a company that received over a half of Billion dollars in federal loans just went belly up. Further, how many times has Crybaby Reid promised Southern Nevada that a several green energy companies would locate here? Probably 4-5 or more in the past 2 years and how many of these companies have fulfilled the promises Crybaby Reid and the companies made? None. But Crybaby Reid and the Democrats want to continue to funding these fraud green energy companies.
So, Crybaby Reid is willing to defund FEMA and the disaster relief fund over cars hardly anybody wants and that suck off money from the national treasury. But hey, it's only taxpayer money and I would think the majority of taxpayers would rather fund disaster relief than a bunch of wind up toy cars that no one wants.
Crybaby Reid and the Democrats are in total need of moral and disaster relief.
It seems though, that the Democrats in the Senate are holding hostage funding for disaster relief over a bunch of wind up/battery cars.

Northwestern Nevada Transformed Into Another World
Burning Man has begun in the Northwestern Nevada and the desert therein.
From the Reno Gazette Herald: For one week out of the year, a portion of the Black Rock Desert is transformed into a thriving diverse city known as Black Rock City, the home of Burning Man. The massive Festival takes place on the barren remnants of Pleistocene Lake Lahontan, which is now commonly referred to as the playa. Participants hail from all across the globe, creating an environment that is a one of a kind melting pot that brings out the best in most everyone involved. http://www.rgj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/gallery?Site=J7&Date=20100901&Category=EVENTS04&ArtNo=9010802&Ref=PH&Profile=1459
Burning Man is like San Francisco on extremely potent steroids.
From the Burning Man's web site: Trying to explain what Burning Man is to someone who has never been to the event is a bit like trying to explain what a particular color looks like to someone who is blind. In this section you will find the peripheral definitions of what the event is as a whole, but to truly understand this event, one must participate. This site serves to try to paint a picture of the Burning Man experience to those who are new to the project, as well as to give those participants looking to keep the fire burning in their daily lives an environment in which to connect to their fellow community members. For a brief yet eloquent overview of the entire event from the time of arrival to the time of exodus, please read "What is Burning Man?", an essay written by participant and one-time web team member, Molly Steenson. Please see archived sections for each year to read more about the art themes, art installations and theme camps for each year.
Here you will find links that will take you on a trip through the past - through the history of Burning Man - from its early days on a small beach in San Francisco through its evolution into the bustling city of some 48,000+ people that the Burning Man event has become today. These people make the journey to the Black Rock Desert for one week out of the year to be part of an experimental community, which challenges its members to express themselves and rely on themselves to a degree that is not normally encountered in one's day-to-day life. The result of this experiment is Black Rock City, home to the Burning Man event.
There are no rules about how one must behave or express oneself at this event (save the rules that serve to protect the health, safety, and experience of the community at large); rather, it is up to each participant to decide how they will contribute and what they will give to this community. The event takes place on an ancient lakebed, known as the playa. By the time the event is completed and the volunteers leave, sometimes nearly a month after the event has ended, there will be no trace of the city that was, for a short time, the most populous town in the entire county. Art is an unavoidable part of this experience, and in fact, is such a part of the experience that Larry Harvey, founder of the Burning Man project, gives a theme to each year, to encourage a common bond to help tie each individual's contribution together in a meaningful way. Participants are encouraged to find a way to help make the theme come alive, whether it is through a large-scale art installation, a theme camp, gifts brought to be given to other individuals, costumes, or any other medium that one comes up with.

This not an event that I would be interested in, but obviously, 48,000+ people enjoy the experience and they bring in a few dollars each. The event sold out in a few hours.
So, hopefully everyone will be safe, drug busts are at the minimum and the 48,000 drop a lot of money into Nevada's economy.
More Strange News From Obamaville
From Fox News: Gibson Guitar Corp. is claiming the Obama administration wants more of its woodwork done overseas, as a bizarre battle heats up between the government and one of the country's most renowned guitar makers.
The dispute started in 2009, when federal agents raided the company over suspect wood shipments from Madagascar. Gibson took that case to court but has denounced the administration with a vengeance after agents returned late last month to raid several Gibson factories -- this time out of concern that Indian export laws had been violated.
Though some reports on the dispute have cited environmental concerns, court documents suggest the latest battle boils down to a simple, non-environmental question -- which country is working on the wood?
Gibson's CEO has said repeatedly that the only reason his company is in trouble is because U.S. workers are completing work on guitar fingerboards in the United States. In an interview earlier this week, CEO Henry Juszkiewicz claimed that the U.S. government even suggested Gibson's troubles would disappear if the company used foreign labor....
Juszkiewicz said in a statement that the U.S. government has effectively suggested "that the use of wood from India that is not finished by Indian workers is illegal, not because of U.S. law, but because it is the Justice Department's interpretation of a law in India."
A representative at the Indian Embassy in Washington could not be reached for comment.
But Juszkiewicz has since claimed that his company's wood exports do in fact comply with Indian law, even if American workers are doing some of the work.
In an interview on the company website, Juszkiewicz said Gibson "for decades" has purchased fingerboard wood that is two-thirds finished.
"The fact that American workers are completing the work in the United States makes it illegal," he said, citing the government's position.
Juszkiewicz maintains Gibson is still complying with the law.

So, the U.S. Feds are trying to enforce an Indian law and wants to put American workers out of work because of piece of wood that is not endangered.
You just cannot make this crap up. In Obamaville, the lunatics really are running the asylum and the American workers are the ones being hurt.

This Song Has Been Rolling Around In My Head
KBET, 790AM in Las Vegas, has been playing this song a lot recently and it has been hard to get the music out of my head.
So, from Kenny Rogers singing Reuben James:
I still don't know how KBET makes any money- they have no commercials and just run PSA's. But they play great true oldie country music.

Raise Taxes, Lose Jobs
From Global Economic Analysis: Thanks to Illinois governor Pat Quinn and the Illinois legislature Illinois Loses Most Jobs in the Nation
"In a trend that continues to worsen, more Illinoisans found themselves unemployed in the month of July.
Illinois lost more jobs during the month of July than any other state in the nation, according to the most recent Bureau of Labor Statistics report. After losing 7,200 jobs in June, Illinois lost an additional 24,900 non-farm payroll jobs in July. The report also said Illinois’s unemployment rate climbed to 9.5 percent. This marks the third consecutive month of increases in the unemployment rate.
Illinois started to create jobs as the national economy began to recover. But just when Illinois’s economy seemed to be turning around, lawmakers passed record tax increases in January of this year. Since then, Illinois’s employment numbers have done nothing but decline.
When it comes to putting people back to work, Illinois is going backwards. Since January, Illinois has dropped 89,000 people from its employment rolls.
A combination of high taxes, overspending and red tape do nothing but chase away job creators and leave too many citizens without jobs. Springfield needs to act now and reverse course."
http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/2011/08/illinois-loses-most-jobs-in-nation.html
The Democrats, especially the liberal one's like Obama, Crybaby Reid, Shelly Berkley and the Dem's in the Nevada Assembly and State Senate all want to raise taxes, especially, in Nevada, on the mining and casino industries.
The Democrats just don't realize that if you raise taxes, even on the most wealthy, you are going to lose jobs. It's been proven time and time again.
But the liberals just sing just like Peter Griffin. They sing so loudly that they don't want to listen to common sense because they just don't hear that their philosophy has been debunked.

Only In Obamaville
In the Prairie Home Companion radio show, Garrison Keillor talks about Lake Wobegon, where all the women are strong, all the men are good looking and all the children above average.
In Obamaville, spending is rampant, regulations strange business and individuals and stupid agencies make stupid decisions.
Today, in Obamaville, the EEOC is suing a trucking because the company had the audicity to fire a trucker because he is an alocholic.
From Fox News: Citing a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Obama administration is suing a trucking company for taking the keys away from an Arkansas driver and eventually firing him after he admitted he was battling alcohol abuse.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit this week arguing that Old Dominion Freight Line discriminated against Charles Grams by stripping him of his position and offering him a demotion even if he completed a substance abuse counseling program...
Joel McCarty, general counsel to Old Dominion, wouldn’t comment on the details of the pending litigation. But he told FoxNews.com, “We intend to vigorously defend our position.”
When asked to respond to EEOC’s comments and rationale behind the lawsuit, McCarty said, “Obviously, we disagree with their position totally.”
“Our concern is safety,” he said. “And that’s why we intend to defend the policy.”
According to the EEOC’s suit, Grams, who had been with Old Dominion for five years without incident, informed the company in June 2009 that he believed he had an alcohol problem.
The company suspended him from his driving position, which paid him nearly $22 per hour, including benefits. In compliance with U.S. Transportation Department regulations, Grams met with a substance abuse professional who notified the company that Grams would participate in an outpatient treatment program and could return to work.
But Old Dominion told Grams that he wouldn’t be allowed to drive again for the company and instead offered him a part-time position as a dock worker as soon as it became available. The position paid $12 per hour without benefits, the lawsuit alleges.

The ADA was never supposed to be like this and now, in Obamaville, they have decided to cause more problems for businesses. Now, trucking companies are put in in a quandary: Hire a drunk and put them on road and risk them falling off the wagon and causing accidents.
Or fire the drunk and be sued in court by the Federal Family in Obamaville.
And the leaders in Obamaville wonder why we have such a huge unemployment problem in the U.S.
Hopefully, in 2012, Obamaville will be hit with a nuclear blast of voters and disband this horrible town.

More Green Fraud
From the Reno Gazette Herald: A California solar-panel manufacturer once touted by President Barack Obama as a beneficiary of his administration's economic policies -- as well as a half-billion-dollar federal loan -- is laying off 1,100 workers and filing for bankruptcy.
Solyndra LLC of Fremont, Calif., became the poster child for government investment in green technology. The president visited the company in May 2010 and noted that Solyndra expected to hire 1,000 workers to manufacture solar panels. Other state and federal officials, such as former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Energy Secretary Steven Chu, also visited the company's facilities.
But hard times have hit the nation's solar industry. Solyndra is the third solar company to seek bankruptcy protection this month. Officials said Wednesday that the global economy as well as unfavorable conditions in the solar industry combined to force the company to suspend its manufacturing operations.
Republicans have been looking into the Solyndra loan for months. The House Energy and Commerce Committee subpoenaed documents relating to the loan from the White House Office of Management and Budget.

Obama Vs Green Bay Packers: Who Will Win?
Next Thursday, President Obama will try and address Congress regarding jobs. It so happens that the speech is at the same time the Green Bay Packers play the New Orleans Saints in Green Bay.
NBC will be idiots if they go to Obama's speech instead of the game.
If NBC does go to the speech, there should be a class action lawsuit for all the damage people cause by throwing things at their TV's, walls, radios etc.
Or will Obama cave again and have the speech later that week or the next?
Clearly, Obama is not a football fan.

U.W. Madison Opens Up Against UNLV Tonight
Defending Big 10 Champs, the University of Wisconsin-Madison (my alma mater) opens up tonight against UNLV at Camp Randall in Madison.
U.W. is a 35.5 point favorite. It's going to be tough for UNLV to cover the spread. It's going to be a warm and humid night. UNLV will be able to handle the heat but the humidity may get them. For a team that is used to less than 10% humidity, now have to play in 50+% humidity, will be difficult.
Not to mention that the farm boys of Wisconsin outweigh the Rebels by 30-40 pounds on the line.
The one good thing about UNLV is their coach, Bobby Hauck- he's an excellent coach and he probably has something up his sleeve. But since he is wearing short sleeves, there won't anything up there that will beat the Badgers or the spread.
So, my guess, even the Badgers are giving a lot of points, I would still put money on the Badgers.
So, in honor of the kickoff of the U.W. Madison football season:
