From the LVRJ: If this U.S. Senate thing doesn't work out, there might be a fallback
for Rep. Shelley Berkley in her family's new business. Berkley and her
husband have obtained franchise rights to operate frozen yogurt shops in
New Mexico.
Three U-Swirl Frozen Yogurt cafes have opened in Albuquerque, and the
franchise agreement calls for seven more to be up and running in the
state by May 2015, according to a company filing with the Securities and
Exchange Commission.
Berkley and her husband, Dr. Larry Lehrner, closed the deal in May
2011, after Lehrner set up a company, Family Yogurt LLC, for the
venture.
They paid between $50,000 and $100,000 to get into the frozen yogurt
business, according to a Berkley disclosure to the U.S. House. At the
end of 2011, Berkley valued the franchise at between $250,000 and
$500,000.
The investment is but a small part of the couple's financial
portfolio. Berkley, a Democrat and seven-term House lawmaker who is
running for the U.S. Senate, last week was ranked by The Hill, a Capitol
Hill newspaper, as the 35th wealthiest member of Congress, with net
assets of at least $9.2 million. http://www.lvrj.com/news/berkley-husband-invest-in-yogurt-shop-franchise-167521975.html
I think it's great that the Berkley's are starting a small business and they will have to face all the regulations that the government imposes on small business owners.
But as a 1%er, you would think that if Berkley wanted to, she could also find a franchise that would provide jobs and opportunities in Nevada.
Shelly Berkley: Looking out for New Mexicans.

Reno Airplane Race Crash Cause Found
From the LVRJ: A plane that crashed into spectators at an air race in Reno last year
bore modifications that weakened its structure and showed evidence that
it was flown beyond its limits, investigators said Monday.
The National Transportation Safety Board deemed the failure of a tail structure to be the probable cause of the crash of the souped-up World War II-era P-51 Mustang fighter that killed pilot Jimmy Leeward and 10 people on the ground at last year's National Championship Air Races in Reno and injured more than 70.
Leeward also was blamed for failing to fully document and test extensive modifications to the aircraft before the September 2011 crash.
Board member Robert Sumwalt said, "If you want to go out and fly fast and try to win, that's one thing. If you're modifying an aircraft without fully understanding how the modifications can affect the aerodynamics, you're playing Russian roulette."
Structural modifications of the aircraft dubbed the Galloping Ghost made it lighter and reduced drag, according to the NTSB report. But flight control modifications also made the aircraft less stable. The NTSB found that an elevator trim tab malfunction created aerodynamic instability that made Leeward's plane uncontrollable.
High-resolution photos show the skin wrinkling and the canopy separating from the plane seconds before the crash, and NTSB investigators later found loose screws in the crucial tail assembly. http://www.lvrj.com/news/ntsb-tail-structure-failure-caused-reno-air-race-crash-167578695.html
It's a shame this tragedy happened and it could have been prevented.
On the other hand, the show must go on as they say and the plane races will continue this year, even with a $1million+ insurance premium rate increase.

Obama's Afghanistan Policy Is Not Working
From Yahoo News: Insurgents beheaded
17 civilians in a Taliban-controlled area of southern Afghanistan,
apparently because they attended a dance party that flouted the extreme
brand of Islam embraced by the militants, officials said Monday.
The killings, in a district where U.S. Marines have battled the Taliban for years, were a reminder of how much power the insurgent group still wields in the south — particularly as international forces draw down and hand areas over to Afghan forces.
The
victims were part of a large group that had gathered late Sunday in
Helmand province's Musa Qala district for a celebration involving music
and dancing, said district government chief Neyamatullah Khan. He said the Taliban slaughtered them to show their disapproval of the event.
All
of the bodies were decapitated but it was not clear if they had been
shot first, said provincial government spokesman Daoud Ahmadi.
Information
was only trickling out slowly because the area where the killings
occurred is largely Taliban controlled, Khan said. The Taliban spokesman
for southern Afghanistan could not be reached for comment.
Many
Afghans and international observers have expressed worries that the
Taliban's brutal interpretation of Islamic justice will return as
international forces withdraw. Under the Taliban, who ruled the country
from 1996 to 2001, all music and film was banned as un-Islamic, and
women were barred from leaving their homes without a male family member
as an escort.
Helmand is one
of the areas seeing the largest reduction in U.S. troops, as the force
increase ordered up by President Barack Obama departs. The U.S. started
drawing down forces from a peak of nearly 103,000 last year, and plans
to have decreased to 68,000 troops in country by October. http://news.yahoo.com/17-afghans-beheaded-insurgent-attack-party-105555181.html
Why are even in Afghanistan now if the Taliban is going to replace our troops as we get out? Either we should be all in or all out. We are getting our soldiers killed by Afghan forces and the civilians are getting killed by the Taliban. What the hell kind of policy is that?
I'd rather be all in because I know as soon as we leave, the Taliban and other Muslim extremists are going to overrun the country and we will be in the same position prior to 9/11.
However, I do understand the feelings of those want us to get out completely. But you cannot do things half asssed like Obama is doing..
Another reason why Obama is unfit to be president of the U.S..

Las Vegas Parents Are Singing This Song Tomorrow
First day of school tomorrow for Clark County Schools. Kids are unhappy and their parents are celebrating.
The Sad Downfall Of Randy Travis
Country Singer Randy Travis downfall continues: A truck registered to country star Randy Travis has been found tipped over and abandoned in a Texas field.
From the Houston Chronicle: The Dallas Morning News reports the truck was found on Saturday morning in a field behind a Walmart Neighborhood Market in Frisco.
Police say they are investigating but haven't yet been able to talk to Travis.
Travis' lawyer, Larry Friedman, says a ranch hand was using the truck and Travis will follow up to find out how it ended up in the field. Friedman says Travis rarely uses the truck himself.
The truck was found less than two days after Plano police said they cited Travis for simple assault related to an argument in a church parking lot.
Travis has been arrested twice this year on alcohol-related charges.
Most recently, Plano authorities cited him for fighting outside a church on Aug. 23.http://www.chron.com/news/article/Randy-Travis-truck-found-abandoned-in-Texas-field-3816046.php

Can We Try This With Obama?
From The San Francisco Chronicle: The
female wing of a civil rights group is urging women in Togo to stage a
week-long sex strike to demand the resignation of the
country's president.
Women are being asked to start withholding sex from their husbands or partners as of Monday, said Isabelle Ameganvi, leader of the women's wing of the group Let's Save Togo. She said the strike will put pressure on Togo's men to take action against President Faure Gnassingbe.
Ameganvi, a lawyer, told The Associated Press that her group is following the example of Liberia's women, who used a sex strike in 2003 to campaign for peace.
"We have many means to oblige men to understand what women want in Togo," Ameganvi said.
The sex strike was announced at a rally Saturday of several thousand in the capital city, Lome. The demonstration was organized by a coalition that is protesting recent electoral reforms, which they say will make it easier for Gnassingbe's party to win re-election in the parliamentary polls set for October.

Remember The America"s Cup? Me Either
Apparently, the America's Cup in yacht racing is still going on.
From the San Francisco Chronicle: In a wild finish to the America’s Cup World Series, the winner of the final fleet nearly capsized at the finish. The bigger issue was the action that followed immediately thereafter.
Italy’s Luna Rossa Piranha won the race Sunday, and skipper Jimmy Spithill‘s hard-charging Oracle Team USA forced Team Korea into a critical penalty around the final gate, giving Spithill second place and the overall championship of the San Francisco regatta by a single point.
Spithill was in ninth place out of 11 boats on the third leg of the seven-leg race. Even after losing the earlier match-race final – by one second – to the other Oracle boat, skippered by Russell Coutts, Spithill’s team was harder to stop than the tide.
“It’s a sign of a champion team when you can come back from a bit of adversity,” Spithill said, “and the boys showed that in the fleet racing.”
Spithill entered the final fleet race with 61 points. Team Korea and Piranha each had 45, behind second-place Energy Team with 48. The so-called Super Sunday race was worth 40 points to the winner, 25 for second and 20 for third. So in the home stretch, Spithill needed to finish second to keep Piranha from winning the title.
He did, just three seconds behind, and that gave him 86 points, one more than Piranha, skippered by Chris Draper. Team Korea with skipper Nathan Outteridge was third with 65.
“Honestly, it didn’t really change what we were going,” Spithill said. “In that race were in comeback mode. All we were trying to do was keep chipping boats off and climb our way up there.”
The thrilling race in the sunniest weather of the week finished a highly successful first stop of the new ACWS season. Round two on the Marina Green takes place Oct. 2-7 before two stops in Italy next spring.

I think this was a preliminary race before the big America's cup.
America's Cup sure lost it's luster since Ted Turner stopped racing.

I Hate Sore Losers
From Fox News: Rep. Ron Paul, with his trademark fervor, used a counter-convention
rally in Tampa Sunday to take shots at a Republican establishment he
claimed was "failing" the country. As the 77-year-old congressman
prepares to retire after three presidential bids and decades in
Congress, Paul told a rowdy crowd that the party would eventually drift
into his "tent."
"We'll get into the tent, believe me, because we'll become the tent eventually," Paul said. "Once they know we are the future they will know about us."
Paul, whose most recent presidential bid ended earlier this year, drew about 8,000 to a rally in Sun Dome stadium at the University of South Florida, separate from a weekend rally by Paul supporters at the Florida State Fairgrounds. Paul reportedly declined an invitation to attend that event.
The final stop on the Texas Republican's presidential tour was several miles away from the official Republican convention in Tampa, Fla. With the start of that convention effectively delayed by Tropical Storm Isaac, Paul's rally was just about the most lively political event in town Sunday -- as Paul and his supporters heaped scorn on the convention that was about to get underway.

If Ron Paul doesn't like the Republican Party, why doesn't leave and start a third party. If there is a person out there who can do it, Paul would be the one. It may be a few years, but the party may end up being pretty big.
But Paul likes the GOP because he gets power and money from the GOP and that's it. He gets campaign cash and gets to be on powerful congressional committees and that is really what Paul really wants..
If Obama Loses, What will Happen If He Refuses To Leave?
Remember when George Bush's was nearing the end of his presidential run and some liberals speculated that Bush might try and find a way to retain his presidency and not allow Obama to take over? No, well I do remember some of the the conspiracy theories out there, like bush using an executive order to stay as president.
Well, tit for tat. What will happen if President Obama loses the November election and he doesn't want to leave the White House?
The Lane Conservative Forum has a nice article about the different scenarios. Will Obama step down or will he try and stay? Well, in New York City, Michael Bloomberg is serving in his third term as mayor even though NYC has term limits and Bloomberg exceeded his term limit.
From Lane Conservative Forum: Let’s go there: if Obama thinks he’s losing, will he allow safe and fair elections on November 6? And if he does lose, will he peacefully turn over power to Mitt Romney on January 20, 2013? Or will he cling to power “by any means necessary,” as a highly placed insider alleges?
Now, I’m truly sorry to raise such disgusting, un-American, crazy-sounding questions, but, alas, they’re not crazy, and I’ve got a disquieting amount of evidence. The Democrats have already accused Romney of murdering a woman with cancer, financial felonies, and not filing taxes for ten years — the last charge delivered by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on the Senate floor, on the basis of absolutely no evidence whatsoever....
Super-High-Level Trial Balloons
USA Today reported that on September 27, 2011, Governor Beverly Perdue, Democrat of North Carolina, told a Rotary Club audience, “I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover[.] … You want people who don’t worry about the next election.” When outrage greeted her suggestion, she retreated to the standard defense: she was just joking. What a kidder!
Meanwhile, that same month, Peter Orszag, Obama’s former director of the Office of Management and Budget, published an article in The New Republic titled “Too Much of A Good Thing: Why We Need Less Democracy.” In it, he posited that the country was too polarized; hence, “radical as it sounds, we need to counter the gridlock of our political institutions by making them a bit less democratic.”....
“Whom Does the Government Intend to Shoot?”
That’s the question recently posed by retired Major General Jerry Curry in the Daily Caller, in light of horrifying reports that the Social Security Administration is buying 174,000 rounds of hollow-point bullets for distribution to 41 locations in the U.S.
According to Major General Curry, Social Security’s ammo spree follows the purchase by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of 46,000 rounds of hollow-point ammunition. Will they be shooting fish in a barrel?
Most terrifying of all, Major General Curry reports that the Department of Homeland Security ordered 750 million rounds of hollow-point ammunition in March, then subsequently ordered an additional 750 million rounds, including bullets capable of penetrating walls.
“This is enough ammunition to empty five rounds into the body of every living American citizen,” writes Major General Curry, who wonders what plan might require “so many dead Americans.”....
Obama may not be fond of governing, but he certainly does enjoy issuing executive orders — 135 so far. As American Thinker‘s Warren Beatty points out, these little-reported edicts reveal an all-too-predictable pattern: concentrating all national power and resources in Obama’s hands, in case of “emergency.”
So far, Obama has granted himself the right to control all transportation, including highways, airports, seaports, and railroads, and all modes of communication, storage facilities, electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels, and minerals.....
Normally, presidents don’t want to endanger American citizens and military personnel by leaking top-secret information — but aiding and abetting the enemy is apparently all in a day’s work for Obama.
And so, if he wants to stir up trouble before the election, either at home or abroad, he’ll have plenty of enemy partners to help. First, he’s got the Russians, to whose president he was caught whispering on a hot mic about missile defense, “This is my last election[.] … After my election, I have more flexibility.”
Second, Obama is this close to the Muslim Brotherhood, who are world-class experts on unleashing political violence. Obama helped the Muslim Brotherhood ascend to power in Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and Libya, and he’s placed its operatives in the highest levels of the American government. Surely, such clever characters as Huma Abedin, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, and Mohamed Elibiary, a Homeland Security Advisory committee member, can be trusted to think up some exciting turmoil to apply where needed.
And finally, close to home, Obama can rely on the Sinaloa drug cartel in Mexico, whom he supplied with thousands of guns. Gratefully, they used their American taxpayer-funded AK-47s to wipe out rival drug gangs and to murder Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Attorney General Eric Holder is presently in contempt of Congress for refusing to turn over documents on Operation Fast and Furious, and Obama (“President Transparency”) has claimed executive privilege to withhold them.
The greatest asset of Obama and his investors has been their warp-speed audacity. We’re too stunned to believe what’s happening in front of our eyes, and too embarrassed to mention it. Who wants to speak up and be ridiculed as an unhinged paranoid, marching with the tinfoil hat brigade?
But our best bet — perhaps our only bet — is to frankly confront this ugly reality. As Iran prepares to go nuclear and the global economy teeters, any number of “national emergencies” can suddenly erupt, demanding unprecedented measures by Obama to “save” us. We must be prepared with skepticism, outrage, and defiance of any actions to deprive us of our Constitutional rights. http://laneconservativeforum.org/5239
If Obama is losing, will he start something? If Obama loses, will he give up power? You would think and hope that nothing illegal would happen.
But by any means necessary is the Obama mantra and we have seen in Wisconsin and through the Occupy movement, anything can happen including violence, protests, lawsuits and other strange things.
These are strange times politically in our country and us conservatives need to be prepared for any scenario.

15 Year Old Wins In LPGA Golf
This is exciting or bad, depending on your point of view:
From ESPN: Lydia Ko won the Canadian Women's Open on Sunday to become the youngest winner in LPGA Tour history and only the fifth amateur champion.
The 15-year-old South Korean-born New Zealander closed with a 5-under 67 for a three-stroke victory. She broke the age record of 16 set by Lexi Thompson last September in the Navistar LPGA Classic in Alabama, and is the first amateur winner since JoAnne Carner in the 1969 Burdine's Invitational.
In January, Ko won the New South Wales Open in Australia at 14 to become the youngest player to win a professional tour event, a mark broken by 14-year-old Brooke Henderson in June in a Canadian Women's Tour event in Quebec. Ko also won the U.S. Women's Amateur two weeks ago in Cleveland.
Ko finished at 13-under 275 at The Vancouver Golf Club, pulling away with birdies on five of the first six holes on the back nine. She opened with consecutive 68s and shot a 72 on Saturday to take a one-stroke lead into the final round.
Inbee Park shot a 69 to finish second. http://espn.go.com/golf/story/_/id/8305148/amateur-lydia-ko-15-becomes-youngest-lpga-winner-taking-canadian-women-open
I think it is kind of cool that a 15 year old amateur wins a major golf tournament but it also says that the LPGA is extremely devoid of talent if a 15 year old amateur wins a tournament.

There's A Storm Brewing In The Gulf
Soon to be Hurricane Isaac is brewing in the Gulf of Mexico and no one knows where it will strike land and how hard. However, the following things are sure to happen:
1. There will be hurricane parties.
2. Members of the media will report outside in the rain.
3. Those same media will exaggerate how bad the storm really is. They will report on the flooding while people are walking by the cameras in ankle deep water.
4. There will be mandatory evacuations and massive traffic jams and it will turn out most of those people evacuating will have done so for no reason.
5. there will be hurricane parties.
6. In mandatory evacuation areas, some people will refuse to leave but will call 911 when their house floods and their roof is torn off.
7. There will be wall to wall media coverage of the hurricane for the next 10 days.
8. The media will exaggerate how much damage there was in the storm by showing 1 roof or tree damaged while everything else in the area is still standing.
9. Most liberals will blame global warming for causing the hurricane, ignoring the fact that there have not been that many hurricanes in the U.S. for the past several years and a lot less than predicted.
10. and there will be more hurricane parties.
If the storm lands as a category 2 hurricane, there will little wind damage but there will be some flooding damage.
However, the most damage or the most positive, depending on your point of view, is that the storm will hit during the GOP convention. Instead of hearing a bunch of hot air from politicians, we will be hearing and seeing a bunch of hot air from the storm and the media.

Are Virtual Schools Better Than Regular Schools?
Within the past 5-10 years or so, there has been a push for virtual schools- where a student stays home and takes their courses on-line instead of going to a regular school in a building. So, are the virtual schools doing better than the brick and mortar schools?
Gannet Newspapers conducted a study of virtual schools in Wisconsin and the statistics show for the most part that regular schools do better than the virtual schools.
From the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune: Enrollment in Wisconsin’s online schools has doubled in the last five years, but students who have chosen class without a classroom often struggle to complete their degrees and repeat grades four times as often as their brick-and-mortar counterparts, according to a Gannett Wisconsin Media analysis.
Standardized test results also show that virtual school students trail traditional students in every subject but reading and are far less likely than their peers to take the ACT or Advanced Placement tests.
But virtual schools have more than four times the turnover of traditional schools and teach students who often bring a history of academic struggles. So are mediocre results indicative of a flawed system or flawed students?
“That’s really the $10,000 question, maybe the million-dollar question,” said Matthew Wicks, vice president of strategy and organizational development for the International Association for K-12 Online Learning. “We have an assessment system that isn’t effective in general, and I think is especially ineffective in online and virtual.”Virtual charter schools — those that allow students around the state to enroll full time in online classes — have operated in Wisconsin for 10 years, growing from four schools with 265 students in 2002-03 to 25 schools with nearly 5,000 students in 2011-12. Three more virtual schools will open for the 2012-13 school year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction....
According to a Gannett Wisconsin Media analysis:
• In the 2011-12 Wisconsin Student Assessment System testing, virtual students fared slightly better in reading than their brick-and-mortar counterparts, with 83.1 percent scoring proficient or advanced, compared with 81.9 percent statewide. But virtual students fell short in other subjects, with 5 percent to 12 percent fewer virtual students scoring proficient or advanced in math, social studies, language arts and science compared with the statewide average.
• Virtual students also scored lower on the ACT in 2011-12, with students statewide averaging a score of 22, and virtual students averaging 21.5.
• Virtual school students scored slightly better on Advanced Placement tests in 2010-11, with 70.9 percent scoring three or higher, compared with 67.6 percent of all students statewide. But far fewer students took AP tests — 4 percent of all high school students, compared with 10.4 percent statewide....
DPI data shows a stark contrast between virtual and brick-and-mortar schools when it comes to students’ ability to complete their coursework.“I wholeheartedly recommend virtual school … but you do have to have a level of self-initiative, of maturity, of independence to be able to succeed,” said Sue DeHaan Palubiak, whose daughter, Tia DeHaan, graduated this year from eAchieve Academy in Waukesha. “It is a more passive learning environment in which children have to reach out and have to have the drive to complete the work. If they’re not inclined to do so without big brother or teacher looking over their shoulder, then certainly it’s something at which they could fail.” http://www.wisconsinrapidstribune.com/article/20120826/WRT019802/308260118/Virtual-charter-schools-Wisconsin-not-making-grade
I've taken 2 on-line classes and you have to be dedicated to take the course. There are so many distractions that can affect how you do in the course. But if you are willing to ignore the distractions and don't like the socialization of being in the brick and mortar schools, then the virtual schools may be for you.

Why Actors Shouldn't Comment On Politics: Part 2
From the Washington Examiner: Paul Ryan as the Wicked Witch of the West? That’s what actor Nathan
Lane jokingly portrayed Mitt Romney’s running mate during a fundraiser
with Vice President Joe Biden last night in the Hamptons.
Lane told several zany jokes at the fundraiser including one about Ryan’s plan for fixing Medicare.
“I think his precise words to Medicare were ‘I’ll fix you, my pretty’ as he rode off on his broom,” Lane said according to the pool report.
Lane also referred to actress Edie Falco, who was a co-host – but wasn’t in attendance since she was filming her show Nurse Jackie.
“I love Nurse Jackie,” Lane said. “She can’t get through the day without Vicodin, Adderall, Percocet, Xanax and Oxycodone, which oddly enough also happens to be the names of Mitt Romney’s five children.”
http://washingtonexaminer.com/actor-compares-paul-ryan-to-the-wicked-witch-of-the-west/article/2505889#.UDnk2KA8VXs
Ahh, yes, pick on the children of Romney- what a class act.
Maybe these jokes are funny:
The Obama economy is so bad...that Kenya now claims he wasn't born there.
The Obama economy is so bad...that Michelle fired her nanny and learned her children's names.
Q. What will America's national bird be when Obama takes office?

A. He answers the door when the phone rings.
Q. Why did Senator Ted Kennedy vote for Barack Obama?
A. Brain tumor.
Q. What’s the difference between Ross Perot and Barack Obama?
A. Ross Perot is crackpot with big ears; Barack Obama is a pothead with big ears.

Phrump Valley Times: Religious Bigots
![]() |
| Yes, We Are Bigots |
From the PVT: You would have thought Pahrump was picked up by a twister and carried to the middle of the Bible belt earlier this week as local pastors commiserated with county commissioners over a proposed ordinance regulating clothing optional businesses.
Pastor after pastor got up and exhorted commissioners to forego such an ordinance, because it somehow suggested that clothing optional businesses were okay here in sunny Nye County.
Of course, they are — there’s nothing at all illegal about taking your clothes off at a private business so long as you aren’t committing some sex crime, like exposing yourself to children or some such moral decadence. All commissioners were considering is actually building a framework to regulate such a business. That’s what they’re supposed to do.
To hear the preachers talk, Pahrump was headed for ruination, damnation and the wrath of a vengeful God should commissioners decide to pass regulations outlining what’s allowed and not allowed at a local RV resort that wishes to offer a secluded place for nudists.
One preacher even described how his daughter burst into tears when she heard about the middle-aged nudists who might wish to flock to Pahrump to frolic in our dry sunshine away from public view.....
Seriously, the pastors were just doing what they feel is right, guarding the moral character of the community, as it were. But in a town where brothels thrive and juiced-in pimps open strip clubs on Main Street, the pastors are totally barking up the wrong tree. Give us a break. Take your moralizing and picket signs down to Homestead and State Route 160 and when you guilt that white castle blight out of business, then we’ll listen to what you have to say about the secluded nudey pool Treasures wants to open for those “ah so sexy” over 54s. Until then, the testifying is probably best left for Sunday morning, and the commissioners best left to do the job they’re elected to do. http://pvtimes.com/news/from-the-editor-guilt-stricken-commissioners-allow-unfettered-nudity/
So, according to the PVT, the ministers are supposed give up their constitutional rights- freedom of speech- because the PVT disagrees with them. What a bunch of stupid, bigoted, idiotic and drug addled minded thoughts.
Perhaps the PVT should stop giving opinions because I don't like them and because they written by writers who apparently dropped out the 3rd grade.
But on the other hand, the PVT sure provides comic relief in their editorials because they take themselves so seriously but they really sound like a bunch of clowns, like this song: (if you look closely enough, you can see Matt Ward in the video)

Why Obama Will Lose
From the Post and Courier: The way food prices are these days, Sheanna Caban and her family have
had to adjust to a life of meatless Mondays and a whole lot of pasta on
the dinner menu.
The 32-year-old mother of two and her husband work behind the scenes at local television stations. But even with two incomes, they struggle to keep pace with the ever-rising cost of living and raising a family.
The 32-year-old mother of two and her husband work behind the scenes at local television stations. But even with two incomes, they struggle to keep pace with the ever-rising cost of living and raising a family.
With staples like milk going for $3.50 or more per
gallon, just putting food on the table leaves a big dent in the budget
of middle-class families like the Cabans.
“It’s a big concern,” she said. “Our grocery bills are second on the list of expenses, right after rent.”
Things
are expected to get even tighter in the coming months as fallout from
the nation’s worst drought since the 1950s drives food prices higher.
Extreme
heat and an extended dry spell have put a big hurt on corn, soybean and
grain harvests in several states. These shortfalls are expected to have
ripple effects in global food markets, driving up prices for everything
from beef and dairy to corn flour and cereal, according to the U.S.
Department of Agriculture.
Underscoring those fears,
the global food price index climbed 6 percent in June after three months
of decline, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture
Organization. http://www.postandcourier.com/article/20120826/PC16/120829369/1165/with-the-cost-of-food-rising-consumers-are-cutting-back-or-doing-without
While President Obama cannot be blamed for all the food problems, his policies certainly have not helped.
Next year, we are going to have even higher food and fuel prices because of the government's ethanol mandate. Even though ethanol sucks as a fuel additive, the government forces us to use it because it helps the corn farmers in Iowa and other places. Obama can suspend the corn and ethanol requirement and then we should have more corn for human consumption. But Obama puts the environment above humans, so we will be stuck with high price food shortages.
As the great pants down former president Bill Clinton says, "It's the economy, stupid". And if Obama thinks that putting more people on food stamps is a winning issue, he is sadly mistaken.

Idiots
From the New York Daily News:
An Ohio hospital has suspended its kidney transplant program after a nurse accidentally threw out a healthy kidney during surgery.
The University of Toledo Medical Center called the incident a rare accident.
The botched surgery happened earlier this month when a Toledo man had his kidney removed to donate to his sister, the Toledo Blade reported.
The donated organ was supposed to be immediately transferred to the waiting patient, but at some point it was tossed out with the medical waste.
It took about an hour to locate the discarded kidney, which was by then ruined, hospital officials said.
“In the process of transferring a kidney from a donor, a human error rendered the kidney unusable,” the hospital said.

I don't even know how this could have happened since they keep the kidney's separate and it wastes a totally good kidney that may have improved a person's life or at least, gave the donor a healthy 2nd kidney.
Morons.

Why Axctresses and Actors Should Not Talk About Politics
There some actress named Natalie Portman, someone who I would not know even if I met her on the street, is in Las Vegas campaigning for President Obama.
Of course, using the few brain cells she probably has, she repeated the Democrat talking points, just like reading a scipt and then came up with this goodie:
She noted the two Republicans don't want to fund Planned Parenthood, for example, and she criticized Romney and Ryan for wanting to erode "our right to choose," referring to abortion.
"We would go back to the days where being pregnant is a pre-existing condition," she said. http://www.lvrj.com/news/actress-natalie-portman-backs-obama-appeals-to-women-voters-167450095.html
Note to Ms. Portman: Why should taxpayers fund a private organization? Where in the constitution does it say we have to fund Planned Parenthood.
And Republicans treat pregnancy as a pre-existing condition? Umm, Ms. Portman, it is Republicans who support pregnancy and hope women will give birth to the baby while Obama says that a baby can be killed after it is born.
So, Ms. Portman, stick to scripts and looking beautiful and stay out subjects that you have no clue about. You may run out of brain cells.

Tony Stewart Ought To Be A Pitcher
If you are watching the NASCAR, you probably saw Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth battling for the lead on about the 315 lap and they crashed side by side.
Stewart was done for the day and was quite pissed and took his helmet and threw a perfect strike with his helmet and struck Kenseth's car straight on- it bounced off the hod and bounced over the top of Kenseth's car.
In an interview, Stewart says he is going to take out Kenseth at every chance he gets.
It's silly season in NASCAR.

R.I.P. Neil Armstrong
from Fox News: Neil Armstrong was a quiet,
self-described "nerdy" engineer who became a global hero when as a
steely-nerved U.S. pilot he made "one giant leap for mankind" with the
first step on the moon.
The modest man who entranced and awed people on Earth has died. He was 82.
Armstrong died Saturday following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures, a statement from his family said. It didn't say where he died.
Armstrong commanded the Apollo 11 spacecraft that landed on the moon July 20, 1969, capping the most daring of the 20th century's scientific expeditions. His first words after setting foot on the surface are etched in history books and in the memories of those who heard them in a live broadcast.
"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," Armstrong said.
In those first few moments on the moon, during the climax of a heated space race with the then-Soviet Union, Armstrong stopped in what he called "a tender moment" and left a patch to commemorate NASA astronauts and Soviet cosmonauts who had died in action.
"It was special and memorable, but it was only instantaneous because there was work to do," Armstrong told an Australian television interviewer this year.

This is one of those :"where were you?" moments. I was 8 years old and watched at home. (or at least a highlight) And who has not heard the words "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,"
You just have to think about the chances these guy went through when they went to the moon. Would the equipment work? What happens if the space suits fail and other problems that may have come up.
But when the mission was over and the Navy ship picked up the space crew, the pride we felt in the accomplishment was awesome and everyone felt pride that the United States was the first country to make it to the moon.
Of course, now, with NASA being gutted, the pride is not there and I know Armstrong was none too happy about that.
Anyways, R.I.P. Neil Armstrong and thank you for your bravery and skill and for helping to make Americans feel pride in the United States.
Who Said This?
And, ‘I give the pills to Lesley Stahl. Then, when Lesley’s passed out, I take her to the closet and rape her.’
Or, ‘That’s why you never see Lesley until February.’ Or, ‘When she
passes out, I put her in various positions and take pictures of her.’”
So, who said this joke about rape?
!. Rush Limbaugh
2. Sean Hannity
3. Al Franken
4. George Bush
Of course, the answer is 3, Al Franken. I guess if you are a liberal Democrat who steals elections, jokes about rapes are acceptable.
So, you have a Senator who jokes about rape and a president who supports killing babies after they have been born- so please tell me why women support Democrats?

But They are Quiet About George Bush Dart Boards
From the Orlando Sentinel: President Charles Mojock apologized Friday after a participant in an estate-planning seminar complained that a speaker held a drawing to give away a punching bag depicting President Barack Obama as a black-eyed boxer.
Tavares attorney John Feldman, who brought the 5-foot punching bag, didn't mean to offend anyone in the audience of 85 to 95 people, Mojock said.
"He's well-known for his sense of humor," Mojock said. "He's the kind of person that likes to speak his mind and people generally enjoy what he has to say."
Feldman couldn't be reached for comment.
Lucille Espey-Francis, a Tavares attorney and Obama supporter, complained to Mojock that the punching bag sent a bad message.
"There was a suggestion that Obama should be beaten," Espey-Francis said. "What else do you do with a punching bag?" http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2012-08-24/news/os-lk-obama-punching-bag-apology-20120824_1_president-charles-mojock-bag-lake-sumter-community-college
And I am sure Ms. Espey-Francis complained loudly when there were George Bush dartboards like the picture below. Yeah, I didn't think so.

But He's Right
From the Chicago Sun Times: U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh remains steadfast in his conviction that “radical
Islam” threatens the American way of life — a view the controversial
congressman again expressed to an unhappy group of Muslim constituents
Friday night.
Moon Khan, a Republican Party precinct committeeman
in DuPage County and member of the York Township board of trustees, was
one of about 80 people who attended an “intense” meeting with Walsh
Friday night in the back yard of Khan’s home in Lombard.
“It was a very, very intense meeting, and he did not change his mind,” Khan later said of Walsh.
The meeting was called after Walsh alleged there is
“a radical stream of Islam” in the U.S. that threatens the lives of
Americans — including residents of Addison, Elgin and Elk Grove — at a
townhall meeting in Elk Grove. http://www.suntimes.com/news/14708440-418/walsh-wont-apologize-for-saying-radical-islamists-in-us-want-to-kill-americans.html
Anybody who says there are not Muslims in the United States who want to do us harm is either a complete idiot or has been asleep since Sept. 10, 2001.
Are there a lot of Muslim in the U.S. who want to do us harm- no.
Are there some Muslims in the U.S. who want to do us harm? Of course.
But the Muslims at the meeting with the congressman were not there to condemn the terrorists, they were there to abuse the messenger. It would be one thing if the vast majority of Muslims in the U.S. condemn Islamic terrorism here int he U.S. and worldwide, but they don't- they would rather go after the messengers, like Rep. Joe Walsh.
So, thank you to Rep. Joe Walsh for telling the truth.
Interesting Education Study
From the Chicago Sun Times: What happens to student achievement if you start the school year by
offering teachers end-of-year bonuses for improved student test scores?
Not much.
But give teachers cash up front on the condition they will lose it if test scores don’t show gains?
Lots of improvement.
That’s what researchers say a study
of 150 Chicago Heights teachers found in what some are touting as the
first U.S. field experiment to indicate merit pay for teachers can work —
if timed properly.
For one school year, the research
project by heavyweight economists from the University of Chicago and
Harvard University — including the author of the best-seller Freakonomics
— turned nine elementary schools in Chicago Heights School District
170 into a teacher testing ground of a behavioral phenomenon called
“loss aversion.’’...
Chicago Heights teachers given $4,000 upfront on the condition they
could lose it — or double it with the right results – produced 2 ½ to 3
½ times the gains in student math scores as teachers offered up to
$8,000 in end-of-year bonuses, the study indicated. Similar findings
were not observed in reading, where researchers encountered more
technical glitches. http://www.suntimes.com/14687664-761/cash-upfront-the-way-to-get-teachers-to-rack-up-better-student-test-scores-study.html
First thought, it's all about the money.
Second thought, it's all about the money.
Dude: You're Going To Jail
Tony Farmer was an all-star basketball player who decided to beat the crap out of his girlfriend and then thought he would not face any punishment because he was a great basketball player.
Well, he was wrong and his facial expressions are priceless and should be shown to every high school and college athlete who is pampered by their family, school and advsors
Now, he is going to spend the next few years in prison and kudos to the judge for seeing past the BS and saw an angry spoiled man who needs help, starting with a lesson in reality.
Dog Tired
Happy 3rd birthday Sammy, now you are 21 years old in dog years. Looks like you already had a brew or 2.
R.I.P. Counting Vampire
From the San Francisco Chronicle: Jerry Nelson,
the puppeteer behind a delightful menagerie of characters including
Count von Count on "Sesame Street" and Gobo Fraggle on "Fraggle Rock,"
has died. He was 78.
Nelson, who suffered from emphysema, died Thursday night in his Massachusetts home on Cape Cod, the Sesame Workshop said Friday.
"Every description of his characters describes Jerry as well," said "Sesame Street" executive producer Carol-Lynn Parente. "Silly, funny, vulnerable, passionate and musical, for sure. That voice of his was superb."

More From Obama's Chicago
From the Chicago Tribune: Three males - 17, 33, and one whose age wasn't immediately available -
were killed and at least 5 others wounded in a three-hour stretch this
evening in shootings on the city's South Side. A sixth person was
wounded early Saturday morning.
The first of three homicides happened about 5:45 p.m. in the city’s Bridgeport neighborhood. A 33-year-old man was shot to death in the 3100 block of SoutH Wallace Street and pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr., Hospital of Cook County, a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. Police weren’t able to provide details about that shooting.
Someone opened fire near 79th Street and Drexel Avenue in the Chatham neighborhood, hitting a 42-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy. The boy died and the woman was shot in the leg. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital, police said.
A third male was killed about 8 p.m. Someone shot him in the 8800 block of South Prairie Avenue in the West Chesterfield neighborhood. He was first listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the back but he later died, police said. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-woman-teen-wounded-in-east-chatham-shooting-20120824,0,5211283.story
Sounds like Chicago needs another community organizer. Hopefully, in January 2013, they will be able to hire one from Washington D.C.
And it seems that Rahm Emmanuel is doing a bang bang bang up job as mayor of Chicago.

Why Did Jon Ralston Leave The Las Vegas Sun?
It's been a couple of weeks since Jon Ralston has left the Las Vegas Sun as a political writer. Ralston is considered to be an elite political writer in the State of Nevada (not by me, mind you). He writes for several papers and has a state wide TV show- Face to Face.
So, why did Ralston leave the Sun when:
The November elections in Nevada are going to be on of the closest watched in the nation.
Nevada is a swing state and is receiving a large amount of nationwide attention.
There have been several national stories including about Harry Reid and Shelly Berkley.
So, after all this, why would Ralston voluntarily leave the Sun with no animosity?
I suspect he didn't leave voluntarily or if he did, he was basically shown the door.
There have been several embarrassing stories about Harry Reid in the past several weeks. This includes the time when Reid lied about Mitt Romney taxes. The Sun refused to write anything on this story- basically spiked the story- even though it was both a local and national news. Further, Reid betrayed the Sun's position on civility and they still spiked the story. I suspect that Ralston wanted to write about this story, since this is what Ralston does but that Brian "The Coward" Greenspun refused to allow him write about it in the Sun.
Since Greenspun completely lacks any ethics in journalism, which is a shame since both his mom and dad were big time media people, he is willing to corrupt any legitimate journalism at the Las Vegas Sun.
When Greenspun spiked the Reid story, I think Ralston had enough or refused to follow Greenspun's directive about Reid and Ralston was gone.
Once again, Greenspun and the Sun have showed the complete lack of ethics in journalism and it will continue throughout this election season. They still have a few stooges left who lack ethics so they have no problem kissing Greenspun's hairy butt. Annjeanette Damon, David McGrath Schwartz and Patrick Coolican will do Greenspun's bidding and show their extreme liberal bias in their unethical reporting.
I wish we could do something, like boycott their sponsors, but they don't have any, not even in the print edition.
How pathetic is that?

Las Vegas Sun Refuses To Report On Reid's Senile Lies
Once again, the Las Vegas Sun, a supposed newspaper once again is hiding Crybaby Harry Reid's embarrassing and erratic behavior.
Earlier today, Reid said that the name of McCarren Airport should be changed because: "Pat McCarran was one of the most anti-Semitic ... one of the most anti-black, one of the most prejudiced people ever to serve in the Senate," Reid said. http://www.lvrj.com/business/reid-change-name-of-mccarran-international-airport-167363525.html
A couple posts ago, I mentioned that McCarren was not anti-Semitic nor racist or at least nothing showed when you Googled it.
Further, the most anti-Semitic and anti-black compared to Robert Byrd or Jesse Helms?
Anyways, this is news that has been reported by the media in Las Vegas including the LVRJ and the television and radio news.
But once again, The Las Vegas Sun has refused to write an article showing how mentally disturbed Reid is. They also refused to mention anything about when Reid lied about Mitt Romney and his taxes even though it was a local and national story.
My guess the editor, Brian :Coward"Greenspun has put out an order to protect Reid and his senility. When Obama came to Las Vegas, Reid walked down the airplane steps unsteadily and looked horrible.
So, once again, the Las Vegas Sun shows it's extreme liberal bias by protecting Reid. Fortunately, the readership and lack of sponsors for the Sun show that they are becoming very irrelevant, and that is a good thing.

Where Oh Where Is The cranky Hermit

Well, not quite, he's working as the political director for Danny Tarkanian and his bid for a U.S. house seat.
Tarkainian is running in the new House District #4 and is running against Steven "I can park wherever I want" Horsford.
It's going to be a tight race as both candidates have issues but Tarkainian should win because Horsford just is a mean person. He is the guy, when he was leader of the Nevada Senate, decided to park in a handicapped parking place while he ran an errand, making the parking spot unavailable for the handicapped.
So, good luck to Mike and Danny and hopefully the cranky Hermit will be back soon.
Harry Reid: Mentally Unfit To Be Senator
Once again, Crybaby Harry Reid has embarrassed Nevada again with a senile rant about Sen. Pat McCarren today.
From the LVRJ: At a ceremony Friday morning at McCarran International's Terminal 3, U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., cast his lot with those who would like to remove the name of former U.S. Sen. Pat McCarran from the airport.
Reid acknowledged that he did not have a role in the decision - that role rests with the Clark County Commission because the county owns owns and operates the airport. Nevertheless, Reid made his feelings clear in response to a question.
"Pat McCarran was one of the most anti-Semitic ... one of the most anti-black, one of the most prejudiced people ever to serve in the Senate," Reid said. "It's not a decision I am going to make, but you asked me to give you my opinion. I don't think his name should be on anything." http://www.lvrj.com/business/reid-change-name-of-mccarran-international-airport-167363525.html
Except, McCarren was anti-Semitic. From Online Nevada: When Nevada-born Jew Samuel Platt was running for the U.S. Senate in 1940, there was idle speculation within Senator Patrick McCarran's camp that Platt's ethnicity could prove to be a negative factor among voters. In view of the many other Jews elected to public office in the twentieth century, Platt's several losses at the national level were largely the result of his go-it-alone Republican politics. As for McCarran's alleged anti-Semitism, he tended to identify Jews as Communists. A recent biographer has characterized his views as "casual" and typical of the times. Several Nevada Jews were close to McCarran. Mort Saiger, McCarran's Las Vegas chauffer, considered him a friend. Eddie Ginsberg of Reno's Home Furniture store was an honorary pall bearer at McCarran's funeral, for which he was reproached by the local B'nai B'rith lodge and the Anti-Defamation League. McCarran's anti-Jewish bias may have been one borne of his religious upbringing and not directed to Jews he actually knew. http://www.onlinenevada.org/anti_semitism_in_nevada
As far as being anti-black? Where, Harry, is the evidence that McCarren was anti-black? And the most anti-black to serve in the Senate? Really, senile Harry, more anti-black and anti-Semitic than KKK member, Robert Byrd? How about Jesse Helms, who the left hates.
I really think Harry Reid has lost it mentally. He is a disgrace to Nevada and now he is making things up while trashing people's reputations.
Harry Reid needs to go. Somebody from the Democratic Party needs to go to Reid and tell him to resign because he is not mentally fit to serve as Senator. Right now, Reid is a danger to people's reputations and to the livelihoods of Nevadans.

Question: Who Is The Worst President Ever. Answer Is...
The San Diego Times Union editors namedthe worst president in the United States and guess who won?
In 5th place, it's Andrew Johnson
4th-Richard Nixon
3rd- James Buchanan
2: Jimmy Carter
And a drum roll please for the worst president ever: Barack Hussein Obama
Their reasoning: He took office at a time when the U.S. economy was on its worst slide in 75 years, but pushed policies using borrowed money that were more meant to preserve government jobs than broadly help the private sector where the great majority of Americans work, ensuring the jobs crisis continued.
Ouch, that's going to leave a mark. In the reader poll and in a close race, Jimmy Carter edges out Obama.
They are now running a poll for it's readers for the best presidents of U.S. history and I would not be surprised of Obama shows up on the list.

He railed against the heavy
spending and big deficits of his predecessor, but blithely backed
budgets that had triple the deficits ever seen in American history.
He
promised a smart, sweeping overhaul of the U.S. health care system, but
ended up giving us a Byzantine mess promoted to the public with myths:
that offering subsidized care to tens of millions of people would save
money; that people would keep their own doctors; that access to care
wouldn’t change; and that rationing would never happen.
He
promised a more sophisticated approach to the economy than that of his
predecessor, but had so little common sense that his health law actually
gave businesses a big financial incentive to discontinue providing
health insurance to their employees.
He
offered hosannas to genius entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs in his
prepared remarks, but when speaking off the cuff betrayed his
faculty-lounge view of the world, saying of businesspeople, “if you’ve
been successful, you didn’t get there on your own.”
He
swore to bring overdue oversight and honest accounting to the corporate
world, but made flagrantly dishonest claims about General Motors paying
back its government loans that would have triggered a criminal fraud
investigation in the private sector.
He
promised to set a high new standard for ethics in the White House, but
used a baffling claim of executive privilege to shield his embattled
attorney general from the repercussions of a cover-up involving the
death of a federal law enforcement officer.
He
denounced his predecessor for permitting harsh interrogation tactics
with suspected terrorists, but once in office somehow concluded that a
better, more moral approach would just be to use drones to assassinate
such suspects without getting any information from them http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/jul/22/presidential-busts/Ouch, that's going to leave a mark. In the reader poll and in a close race, Jimmy Carter edges out Obama.

Solar Program Ended Because It Costs To Much
From the Denver Post: Black Hills Energy, which serves Pueblo
and 52 towns and cities in southern Colorado, is set to pull the plug
on its solar-panel incentive program.
The Rapid City, S.D.-based utility is proposing cutting its current program by about 75 percent, according to a renewable-energy plan filed with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission.
Low natural-gas prices make adding renewable energy sources uneconomical, said Christopher Burke, vice president for Colorado utility operations.
"This is a pretty good punch in the gut," said JD Johnson, owner of SolStore, a Pueblo-based solar installer. "We are just looking for some consistency."
The move by Black Hills comes after Xcel Energy, the largest electric utility in the state, with 1.4 million customers, trimmed its Solar Rewards program.

Fortunately, some energy companies are fighting senile old corrupt politicians like Crybaby Senile Reid and winning and protecting the consumers. Good for them.

Lance Armstrong Should Still Be Proud
Well, the jealous ass holes won.
From Newsday: The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency said Thursday night it will strip Lance Armstrong of his unprecedented seven Tour de France titles after he declared he was finished fighting the drug charges that threaten his legacy as one of the greatest cyclists of all time.
Travis Tygart, USADA's chief executive, said Armstrong would also be hit with a lifetime ban on Friday.
Still to be heard from was the sport's governing body, the International Cycling Union, which had backed Armstrong's legal challenge to USADA's authority.
Armstrong, who retired last year, declined to enter USADA's arbitration process -- his last option -- because he said he was weary of fighting accusations that have dogged him for years. He has consistently pointed to the hundreds of drug tests that he has passed as proof of his innocence during his extraordinary run of Tour titles stretching from 1999-2005.
"There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now," Armstrong said in a statement sent to The Associated Press. He called the USADA investigation an "unconstitutional witch hunt."
"I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in winning my seven Tours since 1999," he said. "The toll this has taken on my family and my work for our foundation and on me leads me to where I am today - finished with this nonsense."
USADA reacted quickly and treated Armstrong's decision as an admission of guilt, hanging the label of drug cheat on an athlete who was a hero to thousands for overcoming life-threatening testicular cancer and for his foundation's support for cancer research. http://www.newsday.com/sports/lance-armstrong-to-be-banned-for-life-stripped-of-tour-de-france-titles-1.3924288
The United States Anti Doping Agency is just a Nazi-like agency that will convict a person on no evidence and then proceeds to make a person's life hell until they get their way.
Armstrong has passed every drug test given him and now are prosecuting him for wins that were 13 years ago.
It is one thing to go after someone who test positive for a banned drug but another when there is no evidence except hearsay evidence. Further, to keep on going after a person and trying to bankrupt him in the process shows this agency is Nazi like.
Lance Armstrong, you did the U.S. proud and it is a shame that some jealous ass holes who never had the skill you had, go after you.
Armstrong won the Tour de France race and nothing can take that away from him. And the people that finished second, guess what, you are still a loser to Lance Armstrong.
Taxpayers fund this corrupt agency, so I would call on Congress to defund them and put them out of business. This Nazi like agency led by Dr. Richard W. Cohen should not represent the United States or get money from the United States government. Get rid of them.

Criticize The Government- Get Thrown In the Nut House
From the San Francisco Chronicle: A
judge on Thursday ordered the release of a former Marine who was
detained for psychiatric evaluation after posting strident
anti-government messages on Facebook.
Prince George County Circuit Judge W. Allan Sharrett said at the end of a one-hour hearing that the involuntary commitment order issued by a magistrate against Brandon J. Raub was invalid because it contained no allegation or basis to hold him, according to the head of a civil liberties organization that represented the 26-year-old veteran.
"This is a great victory," Rutherford Institute executive director John Whitehead said. "He's a good human being. He just got caught in some weird bureaucratic meanderings and the judge recognized that there's really no true facts to hold this man in a psychiatric ward."...
Raub, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, was taken into custody Aug. 16 after being questioned by Chesterfield County police and federal agents about his Facebook posts. The FBI said the interview was prompted by complaints from people who read his ominous posts, including some that spoke of a pending revolution. One said "a day of reckoning" was coming, and another said: "Sharpen my axe; I'm here to sever heads."

Onlookers
shot a video of Raub being led away from his home in handcuffs and
posted it on You Tube, fueling a groundswell of support for the veteran
and criticism that the government was trampling on his free-speech
rights. The Charlottesville-based Rutherford Institute came to his
defense, characterizing the government's actions as those of a police
state. Raub was not charged with a crime.
"Brandon Raub was arrested with no warning, targeted for doing nothing more than speaking out against the government, detained against his will, and isolated from his family, friends and attorneys," Whitehead said. "These are the kinds of things that take place in totalitarian societies. Today, at least, Judge Allan Sharrett proved that justice can still prevail in America."

"These are the kinds of things that take place in totalitarian societies. Today, at least, Judge Allan Sharrett proved that justice can still prevail in America."
Makes me wonder when the Fed's or police will come after me or other conservative bloggers.
I'm Glad Bunheads Have Been Renewed
For me, one of the funniest shows on TV is Bunheads, which is on the cable channel of ABC Family. It's a story about some young dancers (no, not young like the pedophile show, Dance Moms- these dancers are adults and they dance ballet) but the story revolves around their lives.
It is more of a sophisticated humor and the actors and actresses and fairly new in the business. The show stars Foster Sutton and she is a very good actress and dancer.
Anyways, it got picked up for more episodes, starting in the winter but this is a show that should be on prime time on regular television, but then, the writers and directors would dumb down the show and ruin it.
So, I cannot wait until winter for the new episodes.

Obama's Chicago
I guess Obama's Chicago is starting to be the murder capitol of North America.
From the Chicago Tribune: Thirteen people were shot between 8 and 10 p.m. Thursday night, including eight in a single incident at 79th Street and Essex Avenue about 9:30 p.m.
Police are still trying to sort out that shooting, the second of three incidents that left multiple people wounded since 8 p.m. As of 11 p.m., none of the 13 people shot had died.
The first reported shooting of Thursday night happened in the Ida B. Wells / Darrow Homes neighborhood about 8:10 p.m., police said. Two men – 27 and 33 – were shot in the 600 block of East 37th Street and taken to the University of Chicago Hospitals, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said. The younger man was shot in the head and the other in the right arm, Gaines said.
The eight people shot at 79th Street and Essex Avenue were wounded in a drive-by about 9:15 p.m., police said.
About 9:30, two men were shot in their arms in the 2900 block of West 39th Place in the Brighton Park neighborhood. It's not clear what hospital they were taken to, Gaines said.
And about 15 minutes later, at least one male was shot in the leg and taken to Jackson Park Hospital from the 7200 block of South Jeffery Boulevard, Gaines said. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-shootings-chicago-violence-august-23-august-24-violence-gunfire-20120823,0,49779.story
Now that Juarez, Mexico has gotten their act together, it seems that maybe Chicago is now the new murder capitol of North America or at least in the running.
Seems like Obamaite, Rahm Emmanuel is becoming as much a failure as mayor of Chicago as Obama has been a failure as President.

Prince Harry In The Buff: Who Cares
Apparently, there is this guy who is a Prince in England and he came to Las Vegas and had a hell of a time. I'm not sure how much he remembers of it, but the pictures show that he had a great time.
From Norm of the LVRJ: Prince Harry supporters are rushing to his defense after his Full Monty adventure in Las Vegas. They've got his back, no ifs, ands or bare butts about it.
In a blistering email to the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, a female admirer of the prince emphatically suggested Las Vegas issue an apology for allowing his nude photos to surface.
TMZ.com's photos of Prince Harry playing strip billiards in a suite at Wynn Las Vegas on Friday went viral after the celebrity website posted them Tuesday.
The angry emailer launched her rant by taking issue with the popular decade-old marketing slogan, "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas."
That, she said, "obviously does not apply to this young man.
"Too bad. I would call that false advertising. Wouldn't you?"
She added, "Perhaps all your visitors should be subjected to the same sort of treatment and I think your tourism business would disappear very quickly."
Continuing, she wrote: "I believe you owe him an apology especially since he was there on his own time and in his own private suite. http://www.lvrj.com/news/harry-s-fans-not-wild-about-critics-167156685.html
Here's the thing about Las Vegas. If you are nobody, like 99% of the visitors, you can do just about anything that's legal.
But if you are a prince or other celebrity, then all bets are off. And if you allow yourself to be photographed in the nude while you are drunk and playing strip pool (a version of pool I haven't heard of) well, you deserve the nude photo's to be published, even if grandma calls up the local England papers and complains.
Anyways, the Prince probably doesn't care- he flies Black Hawk helicopters and has been on search and rescue missions and so it is doubtful a nude picture of him will mean much to him, even if he apologizes for it.
So, those who are upset about the pictures of a helicopter in the buff, get a life and get over it. I'm sure he has.

More CCSD-Teacher Union War fare
From The LVRJ: An order from a Teachers Health Trust official to increase paycheck
deductions for the coming school year was rejected by Clark County
School District Superintendent Dwight Jones as an illegal request.
The increase, which was not approved by either the district or the teachers affected, was sought for higher health insurance rates.
"They wanted to put their hands into teachers' pockets, but tell us to do it for them," said district spokeswoman Amanda Fulkerson Thursday.
The district refused to make the deductions, according to a mass email sent to its 17,000 teachers Thursday. That message runs counter to that of the trust, which told teachers in July that $8 more would be deducted per biweekly paycheck for Diamond plans and $5 more for Platinum plans. Higher co-pays that could total an additional $250 per month in prescription costs for those requiring maintenance drugs is also planned.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/district-rejects-request-for-increased-teacher-paycheck-deductions-167278525.html
While technically the Teacher's Health trust is not part of the union, it is the union's baby and the teacher's union protects THT to no end.
Earlier this year, the District tried to eliminate THT and go with a different and a cheaper health insurance company but the union said no.
So, this may be an attempt to bankrupt The Teacher's Health Trust and it won't be the end, that I am sure.
And to Dwight Jones, thank you for looking out for the teachers.

Watch Out For Flaming Pine Cones
To be honest, I haven't heard of a fire starting this way but...
From the Havre Daily News: Firefighters today were fighting two lightning-caused fires in the Bear Paw Mountains, as National Weather Service has issued a fire alert for tonight and Friday in the region.
Hill County Disaster and Emergency Services Coordinator Joe Parenteau said this morning that the first fire, named the Thackeray Fire on the old Web Thackeray place and burning east of Bear Paw Lake, started when lightning struck a hilltop Tuesday night, starting a tree on fire. Pine cones were ignited and rolled down the hill, causing it to spread, he said. http://www.havredailynews.com/cms/news/firefightersfightingtwoblazesinbearpaws.html

Who Is More Extreme On Abortion: Obama Or The GOP?
The GOP and specifically Mitt Romney and Todd Akin have been excused of being extreme when it comes to abortion. Fair enough, but who is more extreme than either one of those? Why it's President Obama.
From Rich Lowery: n the Illinois legislature, he opposed the “Born-Alive Infants Protection Act” three times. The bill recognized babies born after attempted abortions as persons and required doctors to give them care. Obama’s stalwart opposition to the bill came up during the 2008 campaign, and his team responded with a farrago of obfuscation and distortions.
The bill was supposedly redundant. Except it wasn’t. Protections for infants who survived abortions were shot through with loopholes, which is why the bill was offered in the first place. (Abortion doctors were leaving infants to die without any care.) The bill was supposedly a threat to abortion rights. Except it wasn’t. Obama opposed a version that stipulated it didn’t affect the legal status of infants still in the womb.
About a year after his final vote against the bill, Obama gave his famous 2004 Democratic convention speech extolling post-partisan moderation. But he couldn’t even bring himself to protect infants brutalized and utterly alone in some medical facility taking what might be only a few fragile breaths on this Earth. Some moderation. The federal version of the bill that he opposed in Illinois passed the U.S. Senate unanimously. Some post-partisanship.
President Obama is an extremist on abortion. He has never supported any meaningful restriction on it, and never will. http://www.620wtmj.com/blogs/charliesykes/167243095.html#comments
Obama not only supports all kinds of abortion, but he also supports infanticide or the murder of infants who were born alive in a botched abortion. How sick and extreme is that? Anybody who supports the position of killing infants who were born is not only an extremest, but is a supporter of murder. Even Romney and Atkins are not that extreme on the right.
And this extremest, pathetic person is our president? If we elect him again, knowing what we know, our nation has certainly gone to hell. (unless your an atheist, then our country is as pathetic as Obama)
