About 3 weeks ago, we had some flooding rains in the Las Vegas area where we got upwards of 2 inches of rain in about 45 minutes. A couple weeks ago, we had another inch of rain and in most areas of the Valley, we got 3-4 inches of rain, depending on where you live.
Now, allergy sufferers are hurting. We are experiencing a huge growth of flowers and grasses which are causing allergy suffers to be sniffling and sneezing constantly.
I live across the street from Black Mountain and now it should be called Green Mountain because of the grasses growing on it- something rarely seen. They call it Black Mountain because it used to be a volcano and the rocks and the soil are black.
In some desert areas, wild flowers and grasses are springing up and in washes that criss-cross the Valley- which act like large rivers during a storm- the grasses in the washes are 2-3 feet high.
I know 2 members of our family are suffering and nothing is really helping them right now.
So, good luck to those who suffer from outdoor allergies in Las Vegas: we feel you pain and it soon will get better.
