From the Portland Press Herald: The sequester has been in effect for just over a week now and the economy hasn’t crumbled.
A week’s time has not provided much clarity or certainty, however.
For instance, the organizers of the annual Great State of Maine Air Show in Brunswick were counting on the Navy’s elite Blue Angels flying team to help draw tens of thousands of spectators to the September event again this year. Now their participation is, well, up in the air.
The Navy has already canceled four Blue Angels shows in April due to the more than $40 billion in budget cuts required of the Defense Department through Sept. 30.
“Unless things change ... it would not be unreasonable to conclude that we could cancel shows for the rest of the season as well,” Navy spokesman Cmdr. Kevin Stephens said last week.
And it’s not just the Blue Angels that could be affected. The military may not be able to send all of the other aircraft that perform “tactical demonstrations” and are on display for the crowd. Yep, Obama wants to make the cuts the most public and the most hurtful. There is no doubt he is doing this on purpose.
It is also obvious that Obama and his ilk hate the military. They are laying off ten's of thousands of military personnel and they are killing the number 1 recruiting tool the military has- the shows like the Thunderbirds from the Air Force, Blue Angels of the Navy and the other air shows and Naval shows and whatever the army and Marine Corp do.
And they won't have moments like this:
And yet Obama has no problem using Air Force 1 to go where ever he wants, whenever he wants. same with Michelle and her brood.
