Pawn Stars Review: August 15, 2013

To get out of the heat this week, Corey and Rick Harrison decided to take a trip to the Phillipines an other hot and humid countries in Asia.  From GMA Manila: Leaving their Gold & Silver Pawn Shop business in Las Vegas for a quick break, Pawn Stars '  father-and-son duo Rick and Corey Harrison take their humor and sharp-eyed pawning and appraisal skills to the Philippines, as they  get set  for a tour  around Manila to meet their fans (and perhaps, search for worthy pieces to pawn) from August 22 to 24. Manila is the second stop in their first trip to Asia. Other destinations include Tokyo, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and New Delhi.
Rick and Corey have an exciting series of activities planned during their stay, including a Meet & Greet event with the show’s fans at the Glorietta Activity Center, Palm Drive on August 24 at 12pm. Pawn Stars followers may also participate in
trivia contests, games, and raffle draws to win exciting prizes and HISTORY merchandise at the event.   http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/322095/newstv/newstvspecials/pawn-stars-rick-and-corey-harrison-visit-manila
In the first episode, the first guy brought in a poster a Bruce Springsteen poster that had not been released.  http://brucespringsteen.net/
The poster told about Springsteen and the E-Street Band's Born In The USA tour in the 1984 and 1985.  The poster had a little bit of damage and Rick offered $50 because the poster was not that rare and that was the sale.
The story line was Rick was in bad mood while in the shop, so they suggested he go on vacation.  Rick decided to go to England and would hang out with a pawn broker in London.  The guys chipped in for a Beatles tour in Liverpool.

The next guy brought 1965 James Bond Aston Martin toy car from the movie, Goldfinger: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldfinger_(film)  .  Some of the gadgets worked on the car, including an ejection seat.  The guy wanted $2000 and time for an expert, Johnny from the Toy Shack came in to look at the car.  The car was battery operated and it the car still worked properly.  Johnny said the car was worth about $2400.  Chumlee offered $500 (seriously?)  The guy went down to $1800 and Chumlee went to $1200 and finally, $1450 and that was the sale price.

The next guy brought in a Sky Kings decoder-spy detecto writer.  The decoder cost 20 cents plus a label from Peter Pan Peanut Butter.  The guy wanted $125 and Rick offered $60 and then $75 and that was the sale price.

The next guy brought in a Boston Red Sox World Series ring that belonged to Brandon Puffer.  You can find out more information about the ring and the player from Boston.com.  Basically, the guy played 1 game for the Red Sox before being sent down to the minors and was given the Word Series ring.  He also spent 5 years in prison for burglary and attempted sexual assault.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandon_Puffer
The guy wanted $89,000.
Corey said Puffer was still in prison but that is not true because Puffer was paroled in 2011.
Corey did not make an offer so there was no sale.

In the 2nd episode, Rick was still in England and they showed Rick in England.  Instead of his friend, an employee of the shop was sent to show Rick London, even though the guy didn't drive.  Rick said the guy was Chumlee's skinny twin.  The guy said he didn't know London and never has been to London, but knew where a comic store was.  They took a tour around Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, went to a map store (where they found an old map of the Nevada Territory   and Las Vegas).  Rick wanted to buy the maps, including a map of Western U.S. by the Dutch in 1650 and spent $10,150 in buying the Dutch map and the Nevada Territory map.
Rick then went to the city of Chester, England to see his friend's pawn shop- Royal Pawn.  They had a lot of Dr. Who merchandise.  Big Mark showed Rick a small piece of the Titanic's hull.  The guy wanted 1,200,000 pounds or $2.09 million, which is what someone offered.  Rick then was shown boots from Elton John.  The guy wanted 1700 pounds and Rick offered $1000 pounds and the selling price was 1,325 pounds.  They then went to Liverpool and see Beatles places.
The first guy in the Vegas shop brought in a business license for a brothel in Pennsylvania.  The document was from 1782 and from Cumberland County.  The guy wanted $250 and Corey offered $100 and then $150 and that was the selling price.
1971 RUPP ROADSTER II
The next guy came in to by a Rupp motorcycle from the 1970's..  http://www.oldrupps.com/RuppHistory/RuppHistory.html
Corey could not sell the motorcycle because Rick loves the motorcycle so there was no sale.
That ends another episode another 2 new episodes of Pawn Stars.  As always, thanks for stopping by and feel free to take a look around the web site.
