From the Houston Chronicle: Bend County, officials said.
The teen was on the telephone with his father, Houston Police Department officer Ken Patmon, when he opened fire at one of two people who had forced their way into the home, officials said.
Patmon was on duty about 3:15 p.m. when he got the urgent call.
"He said, 'Dad's someone's banging on the door.' This is certainly not customary here," Patmon said as Fort Bend County Sheriff's deputies continued their investigation into the incident in the 17000 block of Manchester Point Lane.
Patmon said his 18-year-old son, who was home alone, then heard someone pounding on the back door. Seconds later, two men were inside.
"One of the suspects started to go upstairs. That's when my son took care of himself and our home," Patmon said.
Sheriff's officials said the teenager shot one of the men, who later was pronounced dead at the scene. The other home invader fled, driving away in what sheriff's officials said was described as a dark blue Nissan Sentra.
Patmon said he called 911 as his son was telling him what was happening at the family's home.
"I'm talking to my son, making sure he's good and I'm telling the dispatchers everything that's going on so I can get some deputies out here," he said.
The teen fatally shot the intruder with a pistol belonging to his father. http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Fort-Bend-teen-kills-intruder-4870109.php?cmpid=hpbn
But, sadly, there are anti gun nuts out there who think the kid just should have called 911 and let things happen without him having the means to defend himself. People like Mayor Michael Bloomberg and many liberals who think all guns are bad.
The good part is that a thug is dead and the thug's DNA will never be spread around. Good riddance thug and good shooting, kid.
