Now days, we have few circuses in existence in the United States. I think Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey are still around and a couple small ones still exist.
But NASCAR certainly qualifies as a circus.
They come into your town for 4 days of shows.
They bring several acts- Nationwide, Trucks and Sprint.
They bring in their souvenirs.
They bring in their food.
Instead of the circus train, NASCAR brings their big rigs and haulers, hundreds of them.
Circuses have animals and clowns.
NASCAR has drivers and pit crews.
Circuses have daredevils.
NASCAR has drivers going 200 miles per hour.
Circuses has a master of ceremonies, the ring master.
NASCAR has the TV announcers and the France family.
The Circus goes to big towns and small towns.
NASCAR goes to big towns like Dallas and Las Vegas and small towns like Louden, NH, Bristol TN and Elkhart Lake, WI. (Nationwide)
So, NASCAR is a circus in the truest sense and am glad they are.
