Update: Marine Pilot Killed In Nevada Identified

This photo appears on the fundraising website for Capt. Reid Nannen's family.

How sad.
From the Marine Corp Times: A fundraising effort has identified the pilot who was killed March 1 when his F/A-18C crashed in Nevada as Marine Corps Capt. Reid Nannen.
“Reid was a fighter pilot through and through,” the fundraiser’s website says. “He embodied all the qualities of the heroic aviators of old and was the leader of the new generation. His love of flying was surpassed only by his love of family. A devout father of four, his passion for family served as a gleaming example for all to emulate.”
The fighter was on a training mission from Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, also known as TOPGUN, when the crash occurred about 70 miles east of Naval Air Station Fallon, Nev., according to the U.S. Naval Institute.
The Defense Department has not officially identified Nannen. A newspaper in Nevada has reported that the pilot killed in the crash was stationed in Okinawa. III Marine Expeditionary Force expects to release the pilot’s name early next week, a spokeswoman told Marine Corps Times on Thursday.
The Captain Reid Nannen Memorial Children’s Fund is trying to raise $200,000 for Nannen’s family. The fundraiser’s website features a picture of Nannen hugging three young children: Two boys and a girl.  http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/article/20140308/NEWS/303080008/Fundraiser-identifies-Marine-pilot-killed-crash
