Mount Charleston Fire Is Huge

8675136-20-150007.jpg
How big is the Mount Charleston (Nevada) Fire?  From where I live in Henderson, about 50 milesaway and at night, I can see the orange glow of flames and it is quite bright.
From the Las Vegas:
The blaze that until late this week crept along rugged rims of Mount Charleston grew to as many as 9,000 acres Friday and swept into Kyle Canyon, threatening hundreds of homes.
The Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources reported that 400 structures were in danger as the uncontained, wind-fueled wildfire moved north and south along a ridge overlooking the canyon and devoured dry vegetation atop the mountain range, one of Las Vegas’s most popular and coolest destinations.
Police and fire officials ordered more than 500 residents to evacuate as hundreds of firefighters — most of whom specialize in attacking aggressive, wind-whipped blazes in steep, rocky terrain — made their way up the mountain.
Officials made plans Friday to turn Centennial High School in the north part of Las Vegas Valley into the incident command post for the fire in a move intended to keep resources close to the threatened structures in Kyle Canyon. An estimated 700 to 800 firefighters will encamp at the school.
Work will begin and firefighters will start arriving Saturday afternoon and continue through Sunday, said Butch Smith, a facility unit leader of the National Incident Management Team. Tents will be set up on the soccer field and personnel will use some of the classrooms for logistics and planning operations.
It was unclear Friday exactly how many acres the blaze had torched, but the figure grew from 2,000 to as many as 9,000 acres by midafternoon. The glow of flames was visible from North Las Vegas. Suzanne Shelp, Spring Mountains National Recreation Area trails program manager, said the fire had scorched 9,030 acres.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/fire-rescue/6000-8000-acre-fire-threatens-hundreds-homes

Stay Classy Pro Death Pro Abortion Child Abusers

View image on Twitter

An elementary school kid has a poster saying "If I want the government in my womb I would **** a Senator".
First, that is totally inappropriate for such a young girl to be holding a sign that says such a nasty statement.
And second, clearly, the left is exploiting a non-aborted young child for their cause.
To me, this is a case of child abuse and the parents need to be investigated for child abuse.

This Photo Is Controversial?

This photo of the 19 firefighters is causing controversy.
From Digtriad: A photograph of 19 flags, apparently draped over body bags on a patch of charred earth, was published Thursday on a social-media page devoted to the Granite Mountain Hotshots, the firefighters who died in the Yarnell Hill Fire on Sunday.
The image appears to show the scene of where the 19 firefighters died, after an honor guard draped the body bags with flags while preparing to remove them from the hill the day after the fire.
The image turned up on a Facebook page at midafternoon Thursday with no comment, no credit and no explanation about its source. Within a few hours, almost 1,000 people had shared it on their own Facebook pages.
The picture immediately triggered a debate on the page over the sensitivity of posting the photo. It drew a claim from at least one family member that the image was intended to stay private, though it was unclear who would have made that commitment. It also elicited outrage from a fire department official.  http://www.digtriad.com/news/national/article/290130/175/Granite-Mountain-Hotshots-Controversial-Photo-Posted-To-Facebook
I'm not sure why it is controversial.  It's not like they are showing the bodies.  Further, while this story is a huge tragedy, it is still a news story.
To me, it shows that the firefighters were treated with respect right after they passed away.

Good Thing The Election Wasn't Close

From the New York Daily News:  Nearly six months after President Obama began his second term, the votes of some 1,600 Brooklyn residents who went to the polls were not counted until this week, the Daily News has learned.
Good government groups reacted with outrage — saying the bungling raises new questions about the ability of the Board of Elections to conduct an error-free mayoral election later this year.
“There’s three weeks between the primary and the runoff election, and the board is going to have to perform at an optimal level,” said Alex Camarda, of Citizens Union....

A board investigation narrowed the problem to two optical scanners at two poll sites — Brooklyn Borough Hall and the Carroll Gardens Public Library.
Voters cast ballots on those machines, but the data never got uploaded into the Board of Elections database and the votes were not counted...
Using the paper trail from the two scanners, officials counted the results by hand, a process only completed last week. Meeting on Tuesday — 238 days after Election Day — the Board of Elections added the totals to the official vote count.
The totals did not change the outcome of any race, from the presidential contest to those further down the ballot. But as history has shown, a tiny margin can have major ramifications in a local election.

It's Official: Pope John Paul II To Become Saint

Pope John Paul II

From the NY Daily News:
Pope Francis has cleared John Paul II for sainthood, approving a miracle attributed to his intercession.
Francis also decided Friday to canonize another pope, John XXIII, even though there has been no second miracle attributed to his intercession. The Vatican said Francis approved a decision by cardinals and bishops.
The ceremonies are expected before the end of the year. The date of Dec. 8 has been floated as a possibility, given it’s the feast of the Immaculate Conception, a major feast day for the church.http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/pope-john-paul-ii-canonized-saint-pope-francis-article-1.1390836
It's kind of neat, especially for us Catholics, to watch a man as he was elected pope and then watch rule his empire and then, a few years after he dies, becomes a saint.

4th Of July Activities In The Las Vegas Valley

It seems like we are having fewer fireworks show this year than last and actually it is true- Nellis AFB and Lake Las Vegas are not having their shows- Nellis cancelled their show and Lake Las Vegas had theirs on June 30th.
But most Station Casinos will be having fireworks at red Rock and Green Valley casinos- hopefully the Culinary thug union won't picket them and Caesar's Palace will be the casinos holding fireworks while the Smith Center, Boulder City and the Las Vegas Motor Speedway will also have fireworks.
For more information on these activities and others: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/jul/02/still-looking-fourth-july-festivities-check-out-th/#axzz2Y4uTPwHX

A Tornado In North Las Vegas?

From the LVRJ:  A tornado-like system caused damage to structures destroyed a fireworks stand and uprooted 15 to 20 trees in North Las Vegas on Tuesday.
Firefighters were alerted around 11 p.m., according to Public Information Officer Cedric Williams.
“I talked to the captain on duty last night and he said he thought the fire station’s roof was coming off,” Williams said Wednesday. “He said it sounded like a train landed on top of the station.”
Missing roof tiles, power outages, vehicle damage and flying debris were reported from the blocks surrounding the intersection of Ann Road and Simmons Street, Williams said.
“We see that quite a bit around here when thunderstorms develop and rain evaporates,” National Weather Service Meteorologist Barry Pierce said. “The drier the air is, the quicker (evaporation) rises from the surface. So once it hits the surface, a release of wind can spread from the base of the ground.”
Similar systems, which Pierce called “microbursts,” are responsible for some of the fiercest wind events ever recorded in the Las Vegas Valley.
There were reports of minor injuries but no transports to the hospital.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/las-vegas/tornado-system-causes-damage-north-las-vegas
Las Vegas doesn't get real tornadoes but we get some powerful dust devils and microbursts.  We also get a lot of wind, sometimes winds as strong as a category 1 hurricane, especially close to the western mountains.

Happy 4th Of July

Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance:

Despite Sequester, President's Band Still Playing

The President's Own - United States Marine Band
From the Detroit Free Press: Given John Philip Sousa’s feeling that “The Victors” was the best college fight song going, maybe it’s no surprise that more University of Michigan grads play in the band Sousa used to direct — that’d be the U.S. Marine Band — than just about any other school around....
As is typical for Independence Day, the Marine Band will be playing at the White House today, starting with a concert ensemble performing patriotic standards and show tunes from a balcony overlooking the South Lawn before a drum major leads a group in “Semper Fidelis” and other military medleys. After that, a contemporary country ensemble plays songs from artists such as Lady Antebellum and Toby Keith.  http://www.freep.com/article/20130704/NEWS06/307040025/Marine-Band-University-of-Michigan-tradition
So, the White House cancels tours, the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds are cancelled but Obama gets to keep his band.
Obama: Don't do as I do, do as I say.

She's Be Very Welcomed In Las Vegas

Sheaffer had just lost 100 pounds and had just started wearing bikinis.

From the New York Daily News: A Missouri woman is putting on a brave face after she was reportedly kicked out of a water park because of her full figure.
Madelyn Sheaffer had just lost 100 pounds and felt confident enough in her skin to wear a bikini to the Adventure Oasis Water Park. After employees told her to cover up or leave, the Independence woman decided to speak out.
“I just felt like I was singled out,” Sheaffer told KSHB. “I felt like it was both age and body discrimination.”
The woman was in the swimming pool with her niece and nephew when two park employees allegedly walked up to her and asked her to throw on some shorts. They said her bottoms were too small.
Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/full-figured-missouri-woman-allegedly-kicked-swimming-pool-wearing-bikini-article-1.1389763#ixzz2Y4VTk2NB
Umm, I don't the bottoms were the problem.  I've seen more clothes a Vegas stripper than what she wearing on top.
But she certainly would be welcomed to most clubs and pools in Las Vegas.

My Guess: More Transgender Teen Boys

From the San Fran Chronicle: California lawmakers approved a bill Wednesday that would require public K-12 schools to let transgender students choose which restrooms they use and which school teams they join based on their gender identity instead of their chromosomes.
Some school districts around the country have implemented similar policies, but the bill's author says AB1266 would mark the first time a state has mandated such treatment by statute....
California's bill would give students the right "to participate in sex-segregated programs, activities and facilities" based on their self-perception, regardless of their birth gender....
Opponents said the state is going too far if it permits opposite-sex students to use restrooms and locker rooms.
"It is not all about discrimination. Elementary and secondary students of California — our most impressionable, our most vulnerable — now may be subjected to some very difficult situations," said Republican Sen. Jim Nielsen.
Parents, school administrators and school board members would have no say over students who identify themselves as transgender and enter shower rooms or bathrooms used by the opposite sex, Nielsen said, warning that the privilege could be abused by youthful sex offenders.
"Think about the millions of California parents and students who at the least would be extraordinarily uncomfortable with what this bill would impose upon them," Nielsen said.
Sen. Steve Knight, R-Palmdale, and Sen. Rod Wright, D-Inglewood, each said that male athletes who are mediocre in competition against their own gender could game the system by competing against female athletes. http://www.sfgate.com/news/us/article/Calif-lawmakers-pass-K-12-transgender-rights-bill-4646077.php
You know there will be days when some boy with raging hormones will dress up as a girl and then demand to be allowed into the girl's bathroom and shower rooms, and no one will be able to stop them.
Further, this violates the rights of the straight kids in school.  Why should they be forced to fear about worrying if an opposite sex student all of a sudden shows up in the bathroom or locker room?
What transgender people do on their own time, is not a problem of time, but they completely lose my support when they demand that others bow down to them and force them to play their little game.
As far as I am concerned, the transgendered are offered too many protections.  For instance, a male may come to a job interview dressed as a man and on the first day of work, they dress as a woman and the employer cannot do anything about it.
I'm sorry, while in public, you go to the same bathroom as your genitals are, especially in school.

No Kidding

From the stupid headline of the day:

FAA says it will take steps to avoid near-collisions
http://www.reviewjournal.com/business/aviation/faa-says-it-will-take-steps-avoid-near-collisions

What does the LVRJ expect, the FAA not taking steps to avoid near collisions.
But then again, this is the Obama administration.

Another Obama Epic Fail: Egypt

Mideast Egypt

From ABC News: President Barack Obama is encouraging embattled Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi (MOHR'-see) to respond to concerns being voiced by throngs of protesters seeking his removal from office.
The White House confirmed in a statement Tuesday that Obama called Morsi on Monday while traveling in Africa. The call came as Egypt's military said Morsi must meet the demands of millions of protesters who have taken to the streets.
The statement said Obama told Morsi that the United States is committed to the democratic process in Egypt and does not support any single party or group. The statement also said Obama underscored to Morsi that the current crisis can only be resolved through a political process.
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/obama-potential-violence-egypt-remains-19543340#.UdU-b37n-cw
Well, that didn't turn out too well.
And Mark Levin nails it, about Obama and the Muslim Brotherhood, Morsi belonged to:
On his Tuesday program, conservative talk show host Mark Levin told his listeners that President Obama is loyal to Mohamed Morsi in Egypt because the American president “likes the Muslim Brotherhood.”
Levin, author of “Ameritopia: The Unmaking of America,” pointed out that the president’s loyalties seem to be on the side of Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood — which he deemed the “community organizers for Arabs.” Levin suggested that stemmed from him surrounding himself with radical elements all throughout his life.
“Basically Obama is telling the Egyptian military not to undertake a coup or all the enormous amount of military support we’ve been giving the military will be withdrawn,” Levin said. “Isn’t that nice? He didn’t step up for Mubarak, who was an ally and kept the peace for decade after decade after decade. But this guy — Obama likes them. OK, I’ll be the one to say it — Obama likes the Muslim Brotherhood. He just does. You know, they’re the community organizers for the Arabs.”
“Look at it that way. You know, this is the guy that sat 20 years in the pews listening to, what’s his ass, what’s his name — [Jeremiah] Wright,” he continued. “Oh, the Rev. Wright — treat him with honor, respect. So these radical nut-job goons who Obama has surrounded himself with these people his entire life — Franklin Davis, the commie nut-job in Hawaii, [Bill] Ayers, the commie nut-job in Chicago, [Jeremiah] Wright, the commie or whatever he is nut-job in Chicago and the Muslim Brotherhood. What’s the difference? So that’s what’s going there.  ‘No coup, you know.’ Well, I don’t know — is [Mohamed] Morsi, is he an ally?”
Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2013/07/03/levin-obama-sympathy-for-muslim-brotherhood-tied-to-his-community-organizer-roots/#ixzz2Y4ErmYot
And aren't we impressed by that Secretary of State, John Kerry?
Egypt is still a dangerous country to be in because the radical muslims will not take this lying down and will fight back, either through riots or terrorism.

Mexican Soccer Thugs Rioting In Las Vegas

An unidentified fan, beaten nearly unconscious by Club America fans, is helped by others after fights broke out at the conclusion the El Super Clasico soccer game between Club America and Chivas Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Sam Boyd Stadium.
The LVRJ: Pandemonium erupted as up to 400 rival soccer fans clashed during El Super Clasico pregame festivities Wednesday night, drawing more than 120 police officers to the scene and sending at least six people to the hospital.
Violence flared up again when the game ended about 10 p.m. when angry fans rushed the field, throwing bottles and cans.
According to Las Vegas police spokesman Bill Cassell, tension began building when fans from two rival Mexican soccer teams, Chivas Guadalajara and Club America, arrived at the stadium by bus about 6:45 p.m.
The mayhem ensued shortly thereafter.
Witnesses at the stadium on Russell Road near Broadbent Boulevard said the actual pregame fighting lasted about five minutes before police and emergency vehicles showed up to quell the situation.
Roughly 40 officers from Las Vegas police initially responded. The crowd began throwing rocks and bottles, and additional forces were summoned. Russell Road was closed at Boulder Highway as law enforcement worked to defuse the situation.
According to Cassell, an additional 80 officers from Las Vegas, Henderson, UNLV and park police responded....
Spurts of chaos marred the game, with fans setting off fireworks and tossing a flare onto the field.
The match ended with a Chivas 1-0 win, and fans again began to cause trouble, storming the field and resuming the fight that had started earlier.
No one was arrested and no officers were injured, Cassell added.
The fans weren’t the only ones who wanted to fight on Wednesday night.
Four players from the two teams were ejected during the match.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/crime-courts/pregame-soccer-melee-resumes-fans-clash-after-el-super-clasico
And from the Las Vegas Sun:
The brawl was only the beginning.
Less than an hour before the start of the heated match between Chivas and Club America, hundreds of Club America fans met a Chivas bus entering the Sam Boyd Stadium parking lot. Rocks the size of baseballs flew and bottles were thrown.
Minutes later, dozens of Metro Police cars flooded the entrance of Sam Boyd Stadium to separate the sea of yellow Club America fans from the sea of candy-striped Chivas fans. Six people were injured, including one Chivas fan whose blood blended with the red-and-white stripes on his jersey.
Thousands of fans were trapped outside the parking lot, and were forced to walk in from Boulder Highway after the game started. Yet the game marched on; it had a TV schedule to keep, game promoter Tim Luce said. He had no comment on refunds....
The parking lot brawl set the tone for a match that ended with fans flooding the field throwing beer bottles at each other and fighting. In the process, the match challenged the notion that Las Vegas could handle a Major League Soccer team.....
The brawl started simply out of hatred. The two teams have been rivals since 1943. Fans are taught to despise the other from the moment they are born.  Putting both teams in the same parking lot, with the same entrance was like mixing vinegar and baking soda.
Club America fan Gil Garcia described the rivalry plain and simple: “(It's) deadly. We don’t like each other.”...
Chivas fans blasted off fireworks in the stands; Club America fans tossed half-filled Bud Light bottles and streamers onto the field. Then came the fans. At first one or two trickled onto the field and were carried off.
Then came the flood. Fans overran the field. They threw beer bottles at each other, and kicked each other in the face.
According to police scanner traffic, a large crowd in the stands was throwing objects at officers tending to an injured fan. More officers were called in to deal with the perpetrators.
About 10:15, a "major fight" broke out in the stands that officers were alerted to.
At the end several fans were carried off by police bloodied and injured marking the end of another El Super Clasico.  http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/jul/03/major-pre-game-brawl-mars-mexican-soccer-event-out/#axzz2XpGr1dLO
A couple of thoughts.
First, no arrests?  Why.
Second, this reminds me of the NBA All Star game in 2007 where rioting occurred on the Strip.   http://www.8newsnow.com/story/6109396/weekend-violence-mars-nba-all-star-experience
I don't think Las Vegas is capable of handling a major professional team, especially in basketball and soccer.
Finally, how many people rioting were here in this country illegally?  While insensitive, it has to be asked and it also may explain why cops didn't make any arrests.
It does show one thing though, Mexican soccer can be just as thuggish as European, especially British soccer fans.

Should Have Gone With His First Thought

From the Washington Post:
Mitt Romney officially announced his candidacy for president in June 2011. But during the spring of that year, Romney considered scrapping his campaign altogether, as detailed in a soon-to-be-released book about the 2012 presidential campaign by The Washington Post’s Dan Balz.
Then in the exploratory committee phase of his campaign, Romney was preparing on a May morning to deliver a speech in Michigan to defend the health care plan he signed into law as governor of Massachusetts and attack President Obama’s federal health care measure. The Wall Street Journal released a scathing op-ed that same day slamming the Republican over his Massachusetts plan.
Romney’s eldest son Tagg got a message from his father early that morning, he told Balz. “I’m going to tell them I’m out,” Tagg Romney recalled his father telling him. “He said there’s no path to win the nomination.”
Romney confirmed after the election that he called his son one morning to tell him he thought he wasn’t going to run. “I recognized that by virtue of the realities of my circumstances, there were some drawbacks to my candidacy for a lot of Republican voters,” he told Balz in January. “One, because I had a health care plan in Massachusetts that had been copied in some respects by the president, that I would be tainted by that feature. I also realized that being a person of wealth, I would be pilloried by the president as someone who, if you use the term of the day, was in the 1 percent.”
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/07/02/balz-book-romney-considered-scrapping-bid-in-spring-of-2011/?print=1
Romney is a very nice guy who had some very bad conservative ideas.  I wish he had never ran for president.
The only problem is that the GOP would have nominated someone just as bad as Romney.

Maybe For You But Not For Me.....

Spot The Media Bias

From the LVRJ:
If U.S. Rep. Joe Heck is sweating his re-election chances, it isn’t showing — even in 115-degree heat.
But if a town hall forum the Nevada Republican held Tuesday evening is any indication, enduring the sweltering heat outside will be easier than balancing on the political tightrope he needs to walk to remain in office after 2014.
Heck, who represents a district that includes about 9,600 more Democrats than Republicans, was peppered with questions about topics from immigration to Social Security....
Among topics that didn’t come up during the event was a recent report by the website BuzzFeed that highlighted racist, sexist and homophobic remarks Heck’s 16-year-old-son, Joey Heck, made on Twitter. Heck apologized for his son’s remarks after the BuzzFeed story ran last month.
Another topic not addressed by audience members were recent revelations about widespread surveillance of Americans’ phone and internet communications by the National Security Agency.
http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/politics/us-rep-joe-heck-attempts-strike-balance-while-gearing-re-election-campaign
If the audience didn't bring up the issues with Heck's son and the NSA, then why did the reporter put the items in the paper?
A job of a reporter is to report the news, not add things to a news event.
Reporter Benjamin Spillman, I suspect, needs to go back to school and repeat Journalism 101, otherwise, he will end up like this idiot.

Obama: The War Monger

Geez, who will Obama wage war against next?
Headline from the Minot daily News:
Air Force wages war on winged pests
http://www.minotdailynews.com/page/content.detail/id/576643/Air-Force-wages-war-on-winged-pests.html?nav=5010
A modified C-130H cargo craft flies at around 150 ft over Minot’s North Hill Monday evening, spraying for mosquitoes. The US Air Force personnel piloting the plane are from the 910th Airlift Wing’s aerial spray squadron stationed at Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, and will drop a second application sometime between July 14 and July 19. The active ingredient in the spray is naled, an organophosphate insecticide which is EPA-approved but also known to kill honeybees along with mosquitoes.
In all seriousness, why is an Air Force from Ohio spraying Minot, ND, especially when the base is 20 miles north of Minot?
Why is this not a local problem?

Constitutional Amendment To Ban Gay Marriage

From the Baltimore Sun:
In a friendly reminder (like you really needed it) that last week's Supreme Court decisions are far from the end of the marriage equality debate, 29 Congressional Republicans have come out in favor of a bill proposing a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage in the United States.
Among the co-sponsors of the bill is Rep. Andy Harris, the lone Republican in Maryland's congressional delegation.
The bill, known as the Marriage Protection Amendment, asks for the words "marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman" to be added to the Constitution and would prevent state constitutions to require marriage to be "conferred upon" same-sex couples.
Harris' co-sponsorship of the proposed amendment may come as a surprise, given that a majority of Maryland voters approved legalizing same-sex marriage in a 2012 ballot measure. Plus, after the Supreme Court reversed the Defense of Marriage Act, Harris said he was glad the court upheld individual states' rights to define marriage - though he voiced his displeasure with the court's decision to overrule Congress.
Yet even though a majority of Maryland voters approved legalizing same-sex marriage in a 2012 ballot measure, Harris' district (which covers the entire Eastern Shore and portions of Baltimore, Harford and Carroll counties) actually voted against the ballot measure. It's those constituents who Harris represents in Congress, which puts his co-sponsorship of the Marriage Amendment in perspective.
For Harris' bill to become the 28th amendment, two-thirds of both the House and Senate would need to approve it -- and then all but 12 states would need to ratify it. Currently, 13 states have legalized same-sex marriage.

Can this happen?  Actually, I think it could.
If the GOP takes over the senate and House in 2014, it's possible, with the help of Blue Dog Democrats (conservative) and with re-elections in 2016, I can see this happening in Washington D.C.
And considering that that many of the states had judges approve ay marriage instead of through the legislative process, it is possible to get the States passing the amendment.
Is it going to be easy, of course not and it shouldn't be.  It should be very difficult to amend the constitution.
But is it possible?
Maybe a 25% chance of it happening.  Maybe 10%.  But it is a possibility.

The New Losers In Society

Media Trashing Tim Tebow

The media are having a hay day trying to link Tim Tebow with murderer Aaron Hernandez and insinuating  that Tebow was up to no good.
Nothing could be further fromt he truth.
From the Houston Chronicle: When Aaron Hernandez first went before a judge to face a murder charge, a defense attorney said the former New England Patriots tight end had never been accused of a violent crime. But Hernandez is apparently no stranger to violence.
Since he was arrested last week in the shooting death of a friend whose body was found a mile away from his home, a portrait has emerged of a man whose life away from the field included frequent connections with police-related incidents that started as long ago as his freshman year at the University of Florida.....
Tim Tebow, now a member of Patriots and at the time Florida's star quarterback, is listed as a witness. The report said Hernandez asked him to intervene in the verbal dispute before the assault.
The complaint classifies the offense as "felony battery." It wasn't clear Tuesday how the case was resolved.  http://www.chron.com/news/crime/article/Before-arrest-Hernandez-had-brushes-with-violence-4642218.php?cmpid=hpts
Tebow's name is in 1 paragraph of a story with 26 paragraphs in it.
And what is the headline in the link of the Chronicle's main web page?
Stupidity, just plain stupidity.

What A Bitch

Amanda Bertoncini’s friend thought it was just fine pretend to give beer to the statue in tribute to firefighter Jonathan Ielpi and other slain smokeeaters.
From the NY Daily News:
THIS PRINCESS is a royal boor.
Amanda Bertoncini — a cast member on Bravo’s reality TV show “Princesses: Long Island” — has triggered an uproar after disrespecting a statue honoring a fallen 9/11 firefighter from Great Neck.
Bravo on Sunday aired footage of Bertoncini, 26, staging a boozy photo shoot in front of a monument paying tribute to FDNY firefighter Jonathan Ielpi and other slain heroes.
“It was disgraceful,” said Ielpi’s father, Lee, a retired FDNY firefighter who spent months searching for his 29-year-old son’s body in the wake of Sept. 11, 2001.
“It was a slap to the people of Great Neck,” he said. “It was a slap to the fire department of Great Neck and it was a slap to all of the people that were lost on 9/11.”
At the photo shoot, the loudmouthed Bertoncini — who is hawking a bedazzled beer-can holder — stripped down in front of the statue as cameras rolled. Then, she and a photographer were recorded urging a model to drape herself on the statue and thrust a beer can into its mouth.
“Kiss the fireman. Try to feed him the beer,” the photographer says. “Yeah, feed him the beer!” Bertoncini adds.
The model does as she’s told, prompting Bertoncini to giggle with delight.

To the bitch: go back to the trailer home in the ghetto you came from and if you want to be in the news, go shows that will accept you, like Jerry Springer type shows.
Just a trailer trash bitch.
Especially after 19 firefighters died.
And to the photographer, may you rot in hell after you are hit by a fire truck racing to  fire trying to saving the low life of your family.
And to Bravo, the most idiot filled network, may your studio burn down and the firefighters refuse to put out the flames or rescue any employees who work there.

Pope John Paul II To Become Saint

From the New Daily News:
He could be St. John Paul by Christmas.
Pope John Paul, the popular Polish pontiff who led the Roman Catholic church for more than a quarter century, was placed on the fast-track for sainthood Tuesday by the cardinals and bishops on the Church’s canonization committee.
All that stands now between John Paul and his canonization is final approval from Pope Francis, which is expected to happen on Dec. 8, the Italian news agency ANSA reported.
“I thank God that I will live to see the elevation to sainthood the person who I served with love to the last beating of his heart,” Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, who was the Pope’s longtime private secretary, told Polish radio.
John Paul, who reigned from 1978 to his death in 2005, was a charismatic leader who reformed the church, hastened the downfall of communism in Europe and repaired relations and denounced anti-Semitism as a “sin against God and humanity.”
Abe Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League said “for many of us Pope John Paul is already a saint, this just formalizes it.”

It'll be kind of cool to see someone that you have seen on TV and read about in newspapers to become a saint.

Nannies Can't Even Get This Right

From the dopeheads at the Las Vegas Sun:
The Center for Science in the Public Interest rarely makes friends in the nation's chain restaurants. The advocacy group frequently calls out foods it finds nutritionally objectionable.
And on Tuesday, it put Long John Silver's Big Catch meal, with hush puppies and onion rings, in its spotlight, calling it the worst restaurant meal in America — even though plenty of other choices have more calories.
The CSPI says laboratory tests show the Big Catch has 33 grams of trans fat, "the most powerful promoter of heart disease in the food supply," and an additional 19 grams of saturated fat and nearly 3,700 milligrams of sodium — more salt than is recommended for a day.
The Big Catch has 1,320 calories. The dish, the Louisville-based company says, is a temporary menu addition it will offer through July, "or while supplies last."
Long John Silver's, which was founded in 1969, issued a statement in response to the CSPI's assertions, saying that at $4.99, the Big Catch "delivers tremendous value to value hungry consumers."
Diners don't have to take the hush puppies and onion rings, the company says. Other side choices include corn, green beans, rice and cole slaw. The Big Catch is a wild-caught whitefish three times the weight of the company's usual uncooked whitefish, the company says.

These bozo nannies aren't even close with their worst meal.
The Heart Attack grill have far worse meals.

Obviously the retarded nannies at the Center of Science in the Public Interest and the dopeheads at the Las Vegas Sun got it wrong...as usual.

But They are still Collecting The taxes

cartoon_obamacare_pixie
There she blows, ObamaCare is blowing up.
From the Chicago Tribune:  The Obama administration delayed a key provision of the president's healthcare reform law by a year, saying today it will not require employers to provide health insurance for their workers until 2015.
The delay, which could raise new questions about whether Obamacare will be implemented on time, comes in response to widespread complaints from businesses and their lobbyists about reporting requirements for employers with 50 or more full-time workers.

Companies would have had to pay the Internal Revenue Service $2,000 for each full-time employee who did not get health coverage, beginning Jan. 1, when the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was scheduled to come into full effect.
“We have heard concerns about the complexity of the requirements and the need for more time to implement them effectively,” Mark J. Mazur, assistant secretary for tax policy, wrote in a post that was published on the department’s website late Tuesday.  http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-healthcare-reform-law-delay-20130702,0,7981644.story
Clearly, the reason why Obama is doing this is because they are afraid of the 2014 elections and they also know that ObamaCare is all screwed up.
It's time for the GOP to defund it, shoot it or whatever and put it out it's misery.

Some People Just Don't Have A Life

I work at a local Henderson Wal-Mart and after 10:00, after most supervisors leave, I answer the phones, if needed.
It seems almost every night, we get some kind of prank phone call.  Some times, it is silly, other times, they talk about sex.
What kind of miserable life do you have to have to make prank phone calls to a Wal-Mart, especially talking about sex?

Why Aren't Flags At Half Staffed In Nevada?

A flag is at half-staff outside the Sandy Hook fire department. (Hartford Courant, Anthony DiLorenzo / December 14, 2012 )
Fire stations across the country are flying their flags at half staff in honor of the 19 firefighters who died in Arizona.
In New Mexico, the governor ordered flags to be lowered to honor 19 heroes.
In Nevada nothing.
In Henderson, where I live, the flags are flying high on their poles.
You would think because of Nevada's close proximity of Arizona- Nevada meets Arizona at the Hoover Dam, that we in Nevada and especially Southern Nevada would honor those who died.
But then you would think wrong.
What a shame.

Obama: You Don't Have To Switch Doctors/Insurance....HA

From the Detroit Free Press: As Detroit confronts a possible municipal bankruptcy, the forthcoming rollout of President Barack Obama’s health care law could be the city’s lucky break.
Emergency manager Kevyn Orr has proposed moving younger retired city workers who do not yet qualify for Medicare out of their city-sponsored health plans and into the new federal system, which takes full effect Jan. 1.
The city’s Medicare-eligible retirees — generally those age 65 and older — also would give up their current coverage plans and switch over to Medicare.
Detroit is only the second major city, following Chicago, to propose shifting the financial burden of its retiree health care obligations to the new exchanges.
Under the Affordable Care Act, anyone who lacks insurance can go shopping for coverage on state-run health care exchanges starting Oct. 1.   http://www.freep.com/article/20130702/BUSINESS06/307020019/Obamacare-health-care-exchanges-Detroit-city-retirees
These younger retirees were promised a certain medical insurance in conjunction with their doctors.  Now, they may have to give up their insurance and their doctors.
From Obama: So let me begin by saying this: I know that there are millions of Americans who are content with their health care coverage - they like their plan and they value their relationship with their doctor. And that means that no matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what. My view is that health care reform should be guided by a simple principle: fix what's broken and build on what works.  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/06/15/obama-ama-speech-full-tex_n_215699.html
What a liar Obama is.

Al Franken Is Still A Comedian

From the Star Tribune: The recently passed Senate immigration bill fixes both Minnesota’s and the country’s “broken immigration system” by helping business and agriculture and protecting workers, said U.S. Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn. It also cuts $875 billion from the nation’s deficit over the next 20 years.
“This is an astonishingly good bill, a great compromise,” Franken said at a St. Paul news conference Monday.  http://www.startribune.com/politics/213919521.html
He would get great laughs at any comedy show if he used that line

It's About Time

From the Houston Chronicle: The Army psychiatrist charged in the deadly 2009 Fort Hood shooting rampage will finally enter a plea Tuesday, just a week before jury selection begins in his court-martial.
Maj. Nidal Hasan is expected to plead not guilty. In military cases, a defendant is not asked to enter a plea until right before the trial is to start.
Hasan, 42, faces execution or life without parole if convicted of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the massacre on the Texas Army post.
Under military law, a death penalty case requires a plea of not guilty.
At previous hearings in which Hasan was represented by military defense attorneys, he indicated that he wanted to plead guilty. But Army rules prohibit a judge from accepting a guilty plea to charges that could result in a death sentence, and the judge refused to remove execution as a punishment option.
The judge, Col. Tara Osborn, also denied Hasan's request to plead guilty to lesser murder charges. She cited legal issues that could have arisen because his court-martial would have proceeded; Hasan still would have gone to trial on the premeditated murder charges, and if convicted, he still would have faced the death penalty.
If Hasan, who now serves as his own attorney, tries to plead guilty Tuesday, the judge will reject it and enter a not guilty plea for him, according to military law experts.  http://www.chron.com/news/texas/article/Fort-Hood-shooting-suspect-to-enter-plea-in-case-4641943.php
If he pleads guilty, great and then sentence him to death, but for some reason they don't want to.
And the Obama administration and Senile/Coward/Liar Harry Reid still deny that this was an act of terrorism.
Pathetic.

Update: Arizona Fire Tragedy

From the Prescott Daily Courier: They're regular people, like anyone else except for their jobs as hotshots.
And the Granite Mountain Hotshots were hailed as heroes Monday.
Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar led an afternoon memorial service for the 19 Prescott firefighters who lost their lives June 30 while battling the 8,400-acre Yarnell Hill fire.
Over a thousand mourners filled the activity center on the campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). Emergency services personnel who could be spared from duty came to ERAU to mourn and offer support to the families of the firefighters.
Firefighters from throughout the state attended the service with family members and friends. Some leapt over the center's plastic yellow benches to embrace their peers.
Among the firefighting personnel in attendance were members of the Forest Service hotshot crew based in Prescott, who received a standing ovation and more than a minute of applause.
Sixth-grader Emily McMahon, of Trinity Christian School, sang the National Anthem to start the service.
"Twenty-four hours ago I was at an amusement park with my two daughters in California. Twenty-three hours ago I received a text message that our hotshot crew had burned up. I responded to it with the question, 'How many fatalities?' The answer was 'All of them,'" said Prescott Fire Division Chief Don Devendorf.

http://prescottaz.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&ArticleID=120798

The City of Prescott has released the names of the 19 victims in the Yarnell Hill fire. All were members of the elite Granite Mountain Hotshots.

Those who lost their lives are:

   Ashcraft, Andrew - Age: 29

• Caldwell, Robert - Age: 23

• Carter, Travis - Age: 31

• Deford, Dustin - Age: 24

• MacKenzie, Christopher - Age: 30

• Marsh, Eric - Age: 43

• McKee, Grant - Age: 21

• Misner, Sean - Age: 26

• Norris, Scott - Age: 28

• Parker, Wade - Age: 22

• Percin, John - Age: 24

• Rose, Anthony - Age: 23

• Steed, Jesse - Age: 36

• Thurston, Joe - Age: 32

• Turbyfill, Travis - Age: 27

• Warneke, William - Age: 25

• Whitted, Clayton - Age: 28

• Woyjeck, Kevin - Age: 21

• Zuppiger, Garret - Age: 27

The Prescott Fire Department did not release the name of the lone Granite Mountain Hotshot who survived the fire because he was working in a different location on the fire. Officials said it might be a few days before his name is released.
Marsh was the superintendent of the hotshot team who had led it since its founding in 2008.
Just last week while the team was wrapping up its efforts on the Doce wildfire on Granite Mountain near Prescott, Marsh talked about tracing Granite Mountain's shadow on paper to create the hotshots' logo for their helmets.
"It's kind of bittersweet," Marsh said of the Doce wildfire, because the hotshots often hiked up their namesake mountain during workouts since it's so close to the city.
The team hiked up Granite Mountain during the Doce fire to save an ancient alligator juniper that is listed as the largest such species in the world alongside another Prescott National Forest alligator juniper.
"They were hard-working people," Prescott Fire Chief Dan Fraijo said at a news conference Monday afternoon shortly after the department released the names of its dead. "I never heard them complain."
The 19 men deployed their fire shelters but to no avail, officials said.
"That's a last ditch effort to save yourself," Fraijo said.

Sounds Like Dina "Felon Thief" Titus

From the New York Daily News:
City university will pay $150,000 to former CIA Director David Petraeus to teach two classes in the next school year, a CUNY official said Monday.
The salary is substantially higher than most visiting professors, but it will be covered through private fund-raising, not taxpayer dollars, CUNY spokesman Michael Arena said.
Petraeus, who resigned from the CIA last year after admitting an affair with his biographer, will be a visiting public policy professor at CUNY’s Macaulay Honors College.
Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/petraeus-out-earn-cuny-colleagues-article-1.1387783#ixzz2XsYxJ7wJ
At least Patraeus is qualified to teach the courses and he is not using student tuition/taxpayer money, unlike the felony thief, Dina Titus who stole from UNLV several hundred of thousands of dollars for teaching courses she wasn't prepared to teach.

What The Heck: San Francisco Firefighter Drunk And In Accident

San Fran Truck 1
On the day 19 firefighters were killed in a wildfire in Arizona, a San Francisco firefighter/driver was arrested for drunk driving while driving a ldder truck.
From the San Fran Chronicle:  A San Francisco firefighter who allegedly drove a ladder truck into a motorcyclist while drunk and left the scene faces possible charges of felony driving under the influence and hit-and-run, authorities said Monday.
Michael Quinn, 43, of San Francisco was arrested more than two hours after the crash at 11:34 p.m. Saturday at Fifth and Howard streets, authorities said. He was released from jail at midday Sunday after posting $65,000 bail.
Prosecutors say they expect police to present a case to them Tuesday for possible charges.
Quinn, who has been with the Fire Department for more than 20 years, was suspended without pay, said department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge.
Quinn works at Station 1 at 935 Folsom St. On Saturday night, he was driving a ladder truck with emergency lights flashing and the siren blaring, responding to what turned out to be a false alarm.
Police did not release details of the crash. However, sources with knowledge of the incident said the accident happened as Quinn was driving the ladder truck north on Fifth Street, crossing Howard. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk about the matter publicly.
The rig had just entered the intersection when it hit the motorcycle headed west on Howard. The rider was thrown 75 feet and suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung, sources said.
The motorcyclist was hospitalized in serious condition but was expected to survive. His name has not been released.
The fire truck stopped after the crash. Quinn was told to remain at the scene to provide a statement and take a drug and alcohol screening test, sources said.
He left, however, and returned to the firehouse two hours later, the sources said.
Police arrested Quinn there. His lawyer, Jim Bustamante, could not be reached for comment.
Quinn's blood-alcohol level was measured at 0.13 percent, above the legal driving limit of 0.08 percent, the sources said.  http://www.sfgate.com/crime/article/SF-firefighter-could-face-DUI-hit-run-case-4641434.php
If his BAC was .13 two hours after the accident, can you imagine what it was at the time of the accident.
An this isn't some volunteer firefighter who may have had a couple of beers before responding to a call.  This is a career firefighter who either drank at the station or was totally blasted when he came to work.
And his supervisors didn't notice.
And the supervisor, the officer on the truck, couldn't keep him at the scene of the accident?
This is what happens in 3rd world countries, not in San Francisco.
This will become a huge scandal in San Francisco in the days and weeks to come.

Yeah, What He Said

The Obama legacy: Tyranny.

Political Hack Running Against Rep. Dr. Joe Heck

Yeah, this should be a cake walk for Dr. Rep. Joe Heck.
From the LVRJ: Erin Bilbray-Kohn, a Las Vegas political trainer and daughter of a former U.S. lawmaker, launched her own campaign for Congress on Monday.
Bilbray-Kohn, a Democrat, announced her candidacy for the U.S. House to represent the 3rd Congressional District, a suburban and rural district that includes Henderson, Boulder City, Laughlin and unincorporated areas to the southern tip of the state.
Barring any surprise entrants, the race to Election Day 2014 will pit Bilbray-Kohn against two-term incumbent Republican Rep. Joe Heck in a district that President Barack Obama carried in the past two presidential elections, narrowly in 2012.
The announcement was made via a two-minute video posted to a campaign website. In it, Bilbray-Kohn declares “Congress is not working” for families and the middle class.
“It is time for a fair budget that protects Medicare and Social Security, creates jobs and reduces the deficit,” Bilbray-Kohn said, adding the economy should reward people who “work hard and play by the rules.”  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/politics/erin-bilbray-kohn-announces-run-congress
Oh, and she doesn't even live in the district:
Within hours, the race took its first twist when Republicans pointed out that Bilbray-Kohn’s home in Spring Valley is not in the 3rd Congressional District. The law does not make residency a requirement to run.
How pathetic is that?
Bilray-Kolm is just another Democrat trying to run as a conservative but in reality is an extreme liberal.
Rep. Dr. Joe Heck is a medical doctor, ran his own business, was in the Army as a trauma surgeon, dealt with bureaucracy, is an expert about the military and medicine and bureaucracy and taxes.
Bilray-Kolm is an expert in .......?
Bilray-Kolm will play a conservative on TV but in reality, she is just like Dina "The Felon Thief" Titus- a radical liberal who supports the radical Obama and Senile/Coward Reid agenda.
My guess will be that Heck wins by 8-10 points.  It's like the Miami Heat going against St. Johns School of the Blind.

Thug Dr.(?) In Hepatitis Scandal Guilty

At least 1 jury in Las Vegas got it right as Dr.(?) Dipak (Dipshit) Desai and a nurse anesthetist were found guilty.
From the LVRJ: A jury Monday convicted Dr. Dipak Desai and nurse anesthetist Ronald Lakeman of criminal charges stemming from the 2007 hepatitis C outbreak, one of Southern Nevada’s biggest medical calamities.
Desai was found guilty of second-degree murder and 26 other counts related to the outbreak. Lakeman was found guilty of 16 counts, but not guilty on 11 other counts, including the murder charge involving the 2012 death of infected patient Rodolfo Meana.
District Judge Valerie Adair ordered both Desai and Lakeman jailed while they await their Sept. 5 sentencing.
Marshals handcuffed the two defendants and led them out of the courtroom. Dr. Kusum Desai, Desai’s wife, and their two daughters hugged each other and wept in the first row behind the defense table.
“I love you, Daddy,” said one of the sobbing daughters as Desai walked by. “God is with you. He’s always with you.”
Desai’s family members rarely missed a moment of the high-profile trial, often escorting him in and out of the courtroom and sometimes assisting his defense lawyers from the sidelines.
Desai, as he did throughout the trial, showed no emotion when the verdict was read. He faces a prison term of 10 years to life on the second-degree murder count alone.
Jurors, who endured nearly two months of testimony, primarily from 70 prosecution witnesses, had been deliberating since Friday. They returned the verdict about 4:30 p.m. after earlier reporting being deadlocked on some of the charges.
The verdict closed the book on one of the largest and most complicated investigations undertaken by Las Vegas police.
The investigation was launched in March 2008 after health officials disclosed the outbreak and urged some 64,000 patients to get tested for blood-borne viruses.  http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/crime-courts/guilty-verdicts-delivered-hepatitis-c-outbreak-trial
Hopefully, this Dr(?) will spend the rest of his life in jail and be fined millions of dollars for all the damages he has caused.

And She Endangers Babies For Political Gain

From the NY Daily News:
Texas state senator and pro-abortion rights sensation Wendy Davis slammed her state's leaders as opportunists eager to endanger women to further their own careers.
"Gov. (Rick) Perry and Lt. Gov. (David) Dewhurst are willing to … put women in harm's way in order to step up on the political ladder," she said on CBS' "Face the Nation" on Sunday morning.

And Davis cheers on the deaths of babies all for her political gain.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Maybe It's Time Has Come

From the New York Daily News:
Toying with the idea of starting a new political party? You betcha.
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin entertained building a "Freedom Party" while answering Twitter questions on Fox News Saturday.
One user asked, “Would you & Mark Levin be willing to build a 'Freedom Party' if GOP continues to ignore conservatives?”
"I love the name of that party — the 'Freedom Party,'" Palin replied. "And if the GOP continues to back away from the planks in our platform, from the principles that built this party of Lincoln and Reagan, then yeah."
The 2008 Republican nominee for vice president said that many conservatives with "that libertarian streak" feel ignored by the GOP. If this presumed neglect continues, Palin said, creating a new home for conservatives might not be such a bad idea.
Palin expects more and more people who want government off their backs to ask, "You know, what's wrong with being independent?"
"I think there will be a lot of us who start saying, 'GOP, if you abandon us, we have nowhere else to go except to become more independent and not enlisted in a one or the other private majority parties that rule in our nation, either a Democrat or a Republican."
She said that these organizations are private and "no one forces us to be enlisted in either party."
Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/sarah-palin-bolt-gop-create-freedom-party-article-1.1386434#ixzz2XmvZvrQJ
I'd be open to a new party, especially considering how the GOP is selling out many conservatives.  Just look at two idiots we have in Nevada- Gov. Brian Sandoval and U.S. Sen. Dean Heller.  They aren't conservatives and all in all, would be happy in the Democratic Party, at least with Blue Dog Democrats.
I just wish Palin would not be the face of it.

Shame On MGM, Cirque du Soleil and Cirque KA

Cirque du Soleil performer Sarah Guyard-Guillot is shown here with her two children. Guyard-Guillot plunged to her death during the troupe's performance at the MGM Grand Las Vegas.

The above picture is of Sarah Guyard-Guillot, who died while performing at the MGM and the performance of KA.
When you go to the MGM web site http://www.mgmgrand.com/entertainment/, the Cirque website: http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/home.aspx#/en/home/americas/usa.aspx or the KA web site, http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/shows/ka/default.aspx there is no mention of the accident, no remembrances of her- nothing, like she never even existed.
Even though the tragedy is big news across the country, MGM, Cirque and KA treat it like it was just an inconvenience that she died and it was not big deal.
How pathetic is that?

I'd Have A Lot More Respect For The Gay Community If So Many Didn't get Dressed Up Like This:

From the Chicago Gay Pride Parade

I'm pretty sure many in the gay community feel the same way.

Islam: That Kind And Tolerant Religion Beheads Priest Others (And Obama Supposts These Thugs)

From The Blaze: Syrian Catholic priest Francois Murad killed last weekend by jihadi fighters was beheaded, according to a report by Catholic Online which is linking to video purportedly showing the brutal murder.
As TheBlaze reported last week, Murad, 49, was setting up a monastery in Gassanieh, northern Syria. Last Sunday, on the Christian leader’s Sabbath, extremist militants trying to topple President Bashar Assad breached the monastery and grabbed Murad.
While earlier reports suggested Murad may have been shot to death, Catholic Online reported Saturday: “The Vatican is confirming the death by beheading of Franciscan Father, Francois Murad, who was martyred by Syrian jihadists on June 23.”
The Catholic news service quotes local sources who report that the radical Al-Qaeda-linked Jabhat al-Nusra, or Al-Nusra Front, was behind the savage killing.
In video posted by Live Leak purporting to show the execution, dozens of men and boys are seen cheering on as three men are seated on the ground awaiting their grisly fate.
The men are methodically beheaded one at a time by men holding what appears to be a simple kitchen knife after which the heads are placed on top of the bodies.
According to Catholic Online, the first victim was Murad.
A frenzy ensues, with dozens drawing out their smartphones to capture the bloody scene, as a chorus of Allahu Akbar (“Allah is the greatest”) are sung with jihadi rapture. Several observers are seen moving within inches of the bodies in an effort to capture close-up photos.  http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/06/30/catholic-priest-beheaded-in-syria-by-al-qaeda-linked-rebels-as-men-and-children-take-pictures-and-cheer/#
CAIR, the Council of American-Islamic Relations had no comment and no other comments about Muslim violence.  What a pathetic bunch of radical hating muslims.
And this:
Catholic Online is raising alarm that western nations are providing support to the rebels who have shown a proclivity toward persecuting Christians:
This should make it clear to Christians around the world what jihadists are about. Make no mistake. Catholics and [other] Christians around the globe are under dire threat, particularly from the spread of militant Islam. Until the threat is recognized and taken seriously, martyrdoms like this will continue.
Vatican Radio reports that Gassanieh, a village with a majority Christian population, had been under attack by Islamist fighters for the past few weeks, forcing most residents to flee for safety.
And guess who supports these muslim thugs?  None other than Obama and the disgraceful RINO John McCain.

Stupid Headline Of The Day From Las vegas Sun Potheads

Las Vegas has never been hotter: 117 degrees ties all-time recordRead more: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/jun/30/las-vegas-hits-116-degrees-tying-june-record-set-1/#ixzz2XmQ8wonQ
Umm, if we tied a record, that means we have as hot at least one other time.

Horrible Day For Cirque du Soleil

A performer for Cirque du Soleil died yesterday when she fell to her during a performance.
From the Las Vegas Sun;
Sarah Guyard-Guillot, an artist in "Ka" at MGM Grand and a mother of two children ages 8 and 5, was killed Saturday night after a fall from the show's stage at MGM Grand. The Clark County Coroner's Office said this afternoon that Guyard-Guillot, 31, was pronounced dead at 11:43 p.m. Saturday at University Medical Center.
No formal cause of death has been determined pending further examination of Guyard-Guillot's body. She was born in Paris and had spent more than 22 years as an acrobatic performer. She was a graduate of Annie Fratellini Art & Circus Academy, named for the famed French circus clown and actress. The official website for Cirqeufit acrobatics school in Las Vegas, where Guyard-Guillot served as a coach, said she was an acrobatic and aerialist specialist. She was hired by "Ka" as the production opened at MGM Grand in 2004.
This afternoon, MGM Resorts International, Cirque's artistic and business partner in Las Vegas, issued a statement about the tragedy:
"Our company is deeply saddened by the loss of one of the talented 'Ka' artists Saturday night. The thoughts and prayers of our employees are with the performer's family, the cast of 'Ka' and the entire Cirque family during this difficult time."
It is the first reported death from an accident onstage in Cirque's 30-year history.
According to reports from audience members, the incident occurred Saturday night during the latter stages of the production at MGM Grand. Guyard-Guillot was one of the artists suspended by a wire from the show’s vertical stage in the show-closing Final Battle scene. As she ascended to the top of the stage, she slipped free of her safety wire and dropped to the open, unseen pit below the performers.
After the incident, one eyewitness seated in the middle of the audience and just a few rows from the lip of the stage said Guyard-Guillot dropped from the left side of the set (or on the right side, as audience members face the production) over a distance of at least 50 feet. In the act, performers wear harnesses that are clipped to cables, and that apparatus is designed to keep them in position onstage. Guyard-Guillot was reportedly still in her harness when she fell from the stage.
The show momentarily continued, but then the music halted, and the performer’s screams and groans could be heard from below the stage.
Read more: http://www.lasvegassun.com/blogs/kats-report/2013/jun/30/cirque-suffers-another-accident-artist-falls-ka-mg/#ixzz2XmNSQOqP
And a reader's comment: There is nothing speculative in this article, although the fall distance stated isnt correct. We were sitting dead center in the 2nd section and watched it happen. The stage was completely vertical and she was either above the top of the stage or climbing over the top. At first it looked like a controlled descent and she made one cartwheel rotation but she picked up speed and disappeared into the pit below. All motion on stage stopped but the music played for a little while. When the other performers started looking down it was obvious that something wasn't right. Then she started making horrendously painful sounds, the music cut out and her screams were the only noises coming from the stage. We knew it was bad when they said the show had to stop but none of my group imagined we'd find out it resulted in her death. There should be a donation set up for her and her children. After witnessing her death trying to entertain us, we'd like to help any way we can. I'm glad that "the show must go on" didn't hold true. Prayers and wishes for her family and the performers who now have to work through this tragedy.
I know how the audience feels as I saw race car driver Dan Wheldon die at LVMS- it's something you don't forget.
All performances have been cancelled.

Horrible Day In Arizona

From the Arizona Central.com:
Arizona forestry officials confirmed Sunday night that 19 firefighters have died in the Yarnell Hill Fire that has ripped through half of the town, sent residents to Prescott for safety and given the state its biggest ever wildfire firefighter tragedy.
“It’s a dark day,” said Mike Reichling, Arizona State Forestry Division spokesman.
Reichling said the 19 firefighters were found in an area that also had 19 fire shelters deployed. Some of those found were inside a shelter, which is typically used as a last resort to withstand the fire as it blows over. Some of the crew members were found outside the shelters.
Officials said 18 of the deceased were members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots team. It’s unknown what fire crew the 19th firefighter belonged to. The firefighters are part of a team that is typically sent in first to help cut off the fire, Reichling said.
“They were up there doing what they normally do,” he said.
At Mile High Middle School, dozens of cars filled the parking lot as family and friends of the firefighters were gathered. There, they received official confirmation of the firefighters’ deaths.
Through the night, people slowly filed out of the middle school, holding one another and looking ashen.
Juliann Ashcraft said she found out her firefighter husband, Andrew, was among the dead by watching the news with her four children.
“They died heroes,” she said, crying and wiping tears away from her eyes. “And we’ll miss them. We love them.”
Gov. Jan Brewer offered her condolences to the families of the fallen in a statement late Sunday.
"This is as dark a day as I can remember, with Arizona suffering the truly unimaginable loss of 19 wildland firefighters," the statement said. "It may be days or longer before an investigation reveals how this tragedy occurred. When a tragedy like this strikes, all we can do is offer our eternal gratitude to the fallen, and prayers for the families and friends left behind. God bless them all.”....
The fire likely is human caused as there has been no lightning in the area recently, but the exact cause still has not been determined, Perry said. No structures currently are threatened.  http://www.azcentral.com/news/arizona/articles/20130630crews-fighting-small-fires-around-Arizona.html
First, if it was set on purpose or by neglect, may whoever did it be sent to jail for life.
RIP firefighters and prayers to their families, friends and members of their fire department(s)
