Pawn Stars Review: June 6, 2013

Today has been the hottest day of the year, with a high around 106.
Congratulations to all graduates- be it high school, college or kindergarten.
The show, last week had an audience of 5,000,000 in the United States, about a million more than normal and they were beat by only the basketball game between the Heat and the Pacers.
My apologies about last weeks blog about the show.  A picture of the tonsil extractor caused all the print to go away and I didn't notice it until the next day, so my apologies.
In the 1st episode, the guys were talking about the lottery-probably Powerball and Chumlee talked about going to Arizona to buy tickets, since we don't have the lottery in Nevada- just casinos, bars, grocery stores and anywhere else you can put in slot machines.

The first guy brought in memorabilia from the 1910's-1920's, including pictures and autographs of the stars of the riders of the motordrome- pictured above.  He had the pay slips for the drivers they got after races and the drivers then turned them in for their winnings.
The racers raced on wooden tracks, which made them quite slippery and dangerous.
The guy wanted $200,000 for his collection but Rick said he wouldn't offer anything because they would be a very tough sell, so there was no sale.  Afterwards, Rick ridiculed the seller, which is unusual.
In the next scene, Corey gave Chumlee a scratch off lottery ticket and Chumlee supposedly won $10,000 but the ticket turned out to be a prank ticket.  This scene played out the same way on the TV show "Tanked" a couple of years ago.
Anyways, Chumnlee was excited and decided to quit or go on vacation.
Corey thought it was funny but Rick and the Old Man were not happy.

The next guy brought in an Civil War era Casmir LeFaucheux 1858 pinfire revolver.  The gun was used on the Confederate side of the civil war.  The guy wanted $2000 and time for an expert, Craig.  The expert said it was a Belgium gun, instead of being made in France.  He said it was a composite gun- it was two different guns put together.  Craig said it was worth about $700.  The guy still wanted $500 and Rick offered $375 and then $400 and that was the sale price.
The next guy brought in a K*I*S*S gold record.  http://www.kissonline.com/
The gold record was for their first gold record.  The gold record was inside a frame and the plastic of the frame had their autographs on it.  The guy wanted $3500 so it was time for an expert, Steve.  I haven't see Steve Grad before but he is an expert in autographs and DNA.  He said the autographs were real and it was worth about $1200-1500 because the record had a limited appeal.  Rick offered $700 and they guy came down to $1500 and rick offered $1050 and there was no sale.
In the end, Chumlee knew the ticket was fake and ended up taking the day off.
In the 2nd episode, Rick showed off his old man glasses.

The first guy brought in a antique cigar store counter top cigar lighter.  It was from the 1920's.
The guy wanted $1500 for the lighter.  Rick countered $900 and then $1000 and that was the sale price.
Corey played a joke on Chumlee because of what happened on the last episode and Corey wrote on the tailgate of Chumlee's pick up truck "Wave If You Think I Look Like A Walrus".  But Chumlee washed it off and Chumlee put in packing peanuts.  But if you look closely, Corey is looking down before he opens the door, so.... poor acting.
The next guy brought in a check from Aaron Burr.  http://www.ushistory.org/valleyforge/served/burr.html
The check was for 3 pounds of silver and the check was authenticated.  The guy wanted $2010.  Tim for an expert, Stuart Lutz, an signature expert and another new guy on the show.  Stuart said the check and signature was real and worth about $750.  Rick offered $500 and then $600 and then $610 and that was the deal.

The next lady brought in a car to sell.  She brought in a 1960 Corvair.  It had an air cooled engine in the back of the car.  http://www.oldride.com/library/1960_chevrolet_corvair.html
The lady wanted $10,000 and the guys took it for a ride.
There were some problems with the car.  Corey offered $3000 and there was no sale.
In the end, The Old Man got Rick with an air sounding when Rick sat in his chair.
Thanks for stopping by, stay cool and see you next week.
