Strange Shooting At Last Stop, AZ.

From the LVRJ: Authorities said a 9-year-old girl accidentally shot her shooting instructor in the head in northwestern Arizona.
Mohave County Sheriff’s officials say the 39-year-old shooting instructor was shot at an outdoor range in Dolan Springs about 10 a.m. Monday.
Details weren’t immediately released.
Sheriff’s officials say the man was airlifted to a medical center in Las Vegas, and his condition wasn’t immediately known.
The name of the man and the 9-year-old girl weren’t released.

The incident actually happened at the Last Stop store/restaurant, about 20 miles into Arizona, about 40 miles from Las Vegas.
We traveled to Las Vegas from Kingman and we saw the scene shortly after it happened.
We saw 2 Mohave sheriff deputy's pass us on the road as they were on their way to the scene.
At the same time, 2 Arizona Highway patrol officers were close by, giving a truck with an oversized load an escort and they drove by the scene but did not stop to help.
The rescue helicopter was not at the scene yet and it is possible they passed by the scene shortly after the shooting, especially since the ambulance had to travel a long way to the scene, maybe from Dolan Spring or Willow Beach.  If they came from Dolan Springs, that is at least a 20 minute drive, going red lights and siren.
Instead of telling the truck to stop and then assist at the scene, they just kept on driving.
And I also must say that it sure took a long time for the rescue helicopter to get to the scene.  We passed the scene at least 20 minutes after it happened and maybe even longer.
We saw the guy laying on the ground, about 50 feet from the building and near the fence, where they take the shooters.
Hopefully, the guy will be ok.  We have stopped at Last Stop many times, especially to buy lottery tickets when we lived in Vegas, so we probably saw the man at least once, if not many times.
Last Stop has a restaurant, a gift shop and sells a lot of lottery tickets.  It is a tourist hangout and many tours stop there.  You can fire many different kinds of guns, including a large caliber machine gun.
So, I do hope there is an investigation, not only into the shooting but why the Arizona Highway Patrol (DPS) did not stop and help render aid and assist at the scene.

ObamaVille: 5 Dead 31 Shot During Weekend

ObamaVille aka Chicago aka Big Juarez must have had a end of summer shooting fest.

Five people have died and at least 31 people — including a 3-year-old boy — have been wounded in shootings across the city since Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The 3-year-old boy was accidentally shot in the head Friday about 7:30 p.m. in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, authorities said.
The boy’s father, 26-year-old James Jenkins, was charged and ordered held on $500,00 bond Sunday for owning the gun that either the 3-year-old or a sibling accidentally discharged at a home in the 4300 block of West Monroe, prosecutors said.
The child was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, officials said.
Jenkins is charged with felony count of unlawful use of a weapon by a parolee.
The most recent fatal shooting occurred Sunday afternoon in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.
A 14-year-old boy was in the 1100 block of North Leclaire at 2:52 p.m. when two males approached him, police said. One of the males was armed and fired shots at the boy, striking him in the back. The two then got in to a dark Infiniti and drove off, police said.
Marcus McCarty, who lived a block south of the shooting, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead an hour later, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
Several hours earlier, another teen was shot to death in Little Village early Sunday.

What's the difference between a cop shooting someone dead and a gang banger shooting someone dead?

You Have to Pass The Law To see What's Inside It

But if you count on your tax refund and you're one of the millions getting tax credits to help pay health insurance premiums under President Barack Obama's law, it's not too early.

Here's why: If your income for 2014 is going to be higher than you estimated when you applied for health insurance, then complex connections between the health law and taxes can reduce or even eliminate your tax refund next year.

Maybe you're collecting more commissions in an improving economy. Or your spouse got a better job. It could trigger an unwelcome surprise.

The danger is that as your income grows, you don't qualify for as much of a tax credit. Any difference will come out of your tax refund, unless you have promptly reported the changes.

Nearly 7 million households have gotten health insurance tax credits, and major tax preparation companies say most of those consumers appear to be unaware of the risk.

"More than a third of tax credit recipients will owe some money back, and (that) can lead to some pretty hefty repayment liabilities," said George Brandes, vice president for health care programs at Jackson Hewitt Tax Service.

Two basic statistics bracket the potential exposure:

The average tax credit for subsidized coverage on the new health insurance exchanges is $264 a month, or $3,168 for a full 12 months.

The average tax refund is about $2,690.

Today, the family took a drive from Kingman, up Route 66, the famous highway, to Seligman and we stopped at a very good restaurant, The Diamond Creek Restaurant.
The restaurant is located at the Hualapai Lodge, which is located on the Hualapai Indian Reservation.  It is pretty much right in between Kingman and Seligman and I-40.
My wife and I had Indian tacos and they tasted great, especially if you like fried bread.  The kids had sandwiches, they liked those very much.  The service was great and food came out quickly and it was hot.
We all got desserts, and they were huge, especially the chocolate cake.  You can get diabetes just by looking at it.
They also have a contest to see if you can eat a 6 pound Indian taco. So far, no one has finished the taco in the required 60 minutes, but the taco probably could feed a small impoverished country for a day.
So, if you are traveling Route 66 in Arizona, stop there are you won't be disappointed.

Online fundraisers for Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson surpassed the amount of money raised for Michael Brown's family as the officer's supporters gathered at an afternoon rally Saturday.
Supporters of Wilson, the police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., came to Barney's Sports Pub in south St. Louis.
"Many of us have received death threats toward ourselves and our families," said one speaker, wearing sunglasses, paint beneath her eyes and a baseball cap. "We will not hide. We will no longer live in fear … If you support Darren Wilson, make your voices heard."
She refused to give the media her name, saying "You want my name? I am Darren Wilson. We are Darren Wilson.
The media has shown a strong bias against Wilson supporters, the speaker said, drawing loud applause from the crowd....
A crowd-funding page created for Wilson raised $235,010 from 5,902 people before organizers stopped accepting donations Friday after surpassing their goal of $100,000 in four days. The group then opened a new fundraising page, which already has more than $104,000,
This amount surpasses the more than $214,000 raised in support of the Michael Brown Memorial Fund. According to the page, which was set up by Brown family lawyer Benjamin Crump, "the funds will assist his family with costs that they will acquire as they seek justice on Michael's behalf."

Another Case Of Democrats Criminalizing Politics

This must be new in the Democrat's playbooks: Instead of beating the GOP with thoughts, actions and ideas, they are using the criminal courts to ruin the GOP politician's political and personal lives.
From the Wisconsin Reporter: Conservative targets of a Democrat-launched John Doe investigation have described the secret probe as a witch hunt.
That might not be a big enough descriptor, based on records released Friday by a federal appeals court as part of a massive document dump.
Attorneys for conservative activist Eric O’Keefe and the Wisconsin Club for Growth point to subpoenas requested by John Doe prosecutors that sought records from “at least eight phone companies” believed to serve the targets of the investigation. O’Keefe and the club have filed a civil rights lawsuit against John Doe prosecutors, alleging they violated conservatives’ First Amendment rights.
Subpoenas also demanded the conservatives’ bank records, “emails from every major private email provider” and other information in what some have described as a mini-NSA (National Security Agency) operation in Wisconsin.
“In fact, Defendants’ submissions confirm and expand upon the scope and intensity of retaliation previously demonstrated,” O’Keefe’s attorney wrote in documents ordered unsealed by the 7^th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
The documents raise serious concerns about the tactics of Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm, two of his assistant DAs and others involved in the investigation targeting dozens of conservatives.
Chisholm, a Democrat, launched the dragnet two years ago, and, according to court documents, with the help of the state Government Accountability Board, the probe was expanded to five counties. The John Doe proceeding compelled scores of witnesses to testify, and a gag order compelled them to keep their mouths shut or face jail time. Sources have described predawn “paramilitary-style” raids in which their possessions were rifled through and seized by law enforcement officers.
Prosecutors have operated the secret investigation under the legal theory that at least 29 conservative organizations may have illegally coordinated with Gov. Scott Walker’s campaign during Wisconsin’s partisan political recalls of 2011 and 2012. Two judges, including the federal judge presiding over the civil rights lawsuit, have said the prosecutors’ theory doesn’t hold water. Paul Ryan For President???

Look out, Rep. Paul Ryan, the Democrats will soon indict you on a trumped up criminal charge.
From the Chicago Sun: So, there’s good news and bad news for Hillary Clinton as she eyes a presidential run.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie seemed to be emerging as the favorite Republican son. Moderate, folksy, likable.
Then he became ever more enmeshed in his Bridgegate scandal and his national star began to fall.Texas Gov. Rick Perry was just turning his image around since he last ran for president. He recently challenged President Barack Obama on border issues and catapulted onto the national scene.
Oops, but then he was indicted.
So there you have two bits of good news for Clinton. Two major Republican possibilities are marred before Clinton even had to lift a finger.
That brings us to the bad news for Hillary.
His name is Paul Ryan.
The conservative Wisconsin congressman, chairman of the House Budget Committee, respected leader and, of course, Mitt Romney’s pick as his 2012 presidential running mate, seems to be flirting with the idea of making a 2016 run, if his newly released book is any indication.
“It didn’t take long for me to realize that while we may have lost an election, the cause continues,” Ryan wrote in “The Way Forward: Renewing the American Idea.”
“The prudent leader is like the captain of a ship. He doesn’t curse the wind; he uses it to reach his destination.”
Ryan could pose an even bigger threat to Clinton than Christie or Perry, and she knows it. Instant name recognition. Policy experience, yet he also has endured the rigors of a national campaign.
He has credibility with conservatives and a solid reputation on the Hill. Those who know Ryan have long said he’s just too much of a policy wonk to make the run, which isn’t the worst way for your colleagues to think of you.
Then there are plain numbers. Real Clear Politics has Christie with a slight lead among possible Republican competitors. But various surveys have shown Ryan gaining steam. But the media will trash him and the Democrats in Wisconsin will find a way to have him indicted.
But I hope he does run, though Scott Walker would be my choice.

Peng Fan had just finished preparing an Indochinese spitting cobra for a soup when the serpent's severed head clamped down on his hand, injecting him with a fatal shot of venom, the Mirror reported.
Peng reportedly had decapitated the snake 20 minutes earlier, but he was doomed by the cobra’s long-lasting, reptilian reflexes that persisted even after death.
Stunned diners were startled by the chef’s final cries.
“We did not know what was happening but could hear screams coming from the kitchen,” diner Lin Sun, 44, told the Mirror. “There were calls for a doctor in the restaurant, but unfortunately, by the time medical assistance arrived, the man had already died. After that we did not continue with our meal.”

Anti-Law Enorcement Obama Goes after Cops Again

From the San Fran Chronicle: The White House is conducting a review of programs that have equipped local police departments with military gear from the Pentagon, urged by President Barack Obama's call for more separation between the nation's armed forces and civilian law enforcement.

The examination comes in the aftermath of the police response to unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, following the police killing of an unarmed black man.

Two senior administration officials said Saturday that the review will examine whether the programs are appropriate; the amount of training provided for using military equipment; and how well the government audits the use of the money and equipment by local police departments....

"There is a big difference between our military and our local law enforcement, and we don't want those lines blurred," Obama told reporters at the White House. First, Obama doesn't believe in tradition as he has violated so many White House traditions, like using the IRS for political purposes.

But we have seen the cops on the street out gunned time and time again and officers are dying because of it.

This past week, Cascade County, Montana, buried a deputy because he was shot by a thug.

Late this past week, A San Bernardino sheriff's deputy was shot in the head and gravely injured when several thugs opened fire on him.

On Saturday, a police chief in Texas was shot and killed by another thug.

The Chief of the Elmendorf Police Department was killed during a traffic stop Saturday, the Bexar County Sherriff's Office reported.
Michael Pimentel was gunned down just before noon near South First Avenue and East Ninth Street, where he conducted the traffic stop, Bexar Sheriff Susan Pamerleau said.
Pamerleau said the suspect, identified as Joshua Lopez, 24, is in custody. He is to face a charge of capital murder of a police officer. Pamerleau said the Bexar County Sheriff's Office has taken over the investigation of the incident.
Details surrounding the traffic stop were not disclosed, but there was an active graffiti warrant out for Lopez, Pamerleau added.
Pimentel was shot twice, once in the shoulder and once in abdomen, said Sgt. Jason Burchett, who's now the Elmendorf's acting police chief. He added that the suspect suffered from mental illness.
Alderman Polo Maldonado and Alderwoman Linda Pena Ortiz confirmed the chief, who was flown to University Hospital, had died from his injuries.

Las Vegas Got Screwed In Little League World Series

Today, after a wonderful run and experience, Mountain Ridge was beaten in the Little League World series.

Mountain Ridge Little won’t be remembered for what happened today: They lost at the Little League World Series to Chicago, 7-5, in the U.S. championship game.

Rather, the team of ballplayers ages 12-13 will be remembered for its accomplishments. They, after all, were the first from Nevada to advance to the World Series in Williamsport, Pa., in more than 70 years of its existence.

This team was loaded.
Entering today’s game they had a 16-0 record in four tournaments this summer and had outscored opponents 184-29. Here is what sucks for Las Vegas.
The tournament is a double elimination tournament, meaning if a team loses, they go to the losers bracket and work their way up and if they lose again, they go home.
Except in the U.S. and World title games.
Mountain creamed Chicago so bad last week, they only played 5 innings out of 7 because Las Vegas was beating them so bad they had to invoke the mercy rule.
But Chicago worked their way through the losers bracket and faced Las Vegas today and Chicago.
Instead of playing a 3rd game, Chicago gets to go into the title game, even though they have 1 loss, the same as Las Vegas.
They should have played a 3rd game, maybe shorten it up or have sudden death to see who the best team really is.  That's what they do in the vast majority in double elimination tournaments.
But it is all about TV, ratings and money.
Not fairness.
And Las Vegas/Mountain Ridge got screwed.

Walter Misco said it pays to listen to your wife.
It paid off huge, in fact, about 11 p.m. Friday when he won $2.4 million on the MGM Grand’s Lion’s Share progressive slot machine, a legend for its stinginess.
Misco and his wife, Linda, both 66, were in town this weekend for a slot machine tournament at the MGM Grand. During their stay, he told her he recalled reading an article about the legendary Lion’s Share progressive machine which had reached cult status.
His wife asked, “what’s the big attraction?’ I told her it hadn’t hit in years. She said, ‘well you need to play that and win.’ I was just doing what I was told.”
So Misco inserted a $100 bill and started playing the $3 maximum. After five minutes he had $127 on the counter when he lined up the three emblems and hit the jackpot of his life.
The machine had not given a jackpot in 15 years, according to MGM Grand spokeswoman Mary Hynes.

First, congratulations to the winning couple.
But only $2,400,000?
They said the machine had not hit for 15 years (20 years, according to the Las Vegas Sun)
That means only $417 per day was deposited/lost in the machine per day.  Since the slot machine was the most popular, $417 is a pittance compared to what the casino got from the machine, even after it paid out the winnings.
So, it looks like the couple while lucky, should have gotten a whole lot more.

Who Cares?

But a delicate and crucial question lingers: What happens if the grand jury now considering the case doesn’t return a charge against the officer?
The fear among some local residents and officials trying to maintain peace in Ferguson is that failure to charge the officer could stoke new anger among a community profoundly mistrustful of the legal system. Many say they just hope the grand jury’s decision, whatever it is, has irrefutable facts to back it up.
U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill told The Associated Press she’s pushing for federal and local investigations to be completed around the same time so that all evidence in the case can be made public — a step many consider important should prosecutors decide not to charge the officer. Her office said Friday that the Department of Justice hasn’t given a timeline for the federal investigation, which centers on whether a civil rights violation occurred when officer Darren Wilson fatally shot the unarmed Brown Aug. 9.

Who cares if they don't indict the cop if he didn't do anything wrong?  In fact, if he is unjustly, that would be the real tragedy of the incident.
It already has been established without a doubt that Michael Brown caused his own death.
He chose to smoke pot.
He chose to rob a store.
He chose to assault the employee of the store.
He chose to walk in the middle of the road and he refused to get out of the middle of the road.
He chose to confront the cop.
If he didn't do any of those things, he would still be alive.
That is indisputable.
It also appears he severely beat the cop and was looking to hurt the cop even more.
So, if a bunch of thugs get pissed if the cop is not indicted? Who the hell cares?
Except the hand wringing liberal crowd.

She Didn't Think They Would Notice?

A candidate for stupid criminal of the week:  Merced woman was arrested for allegedly trying to enter a maternity ward on two occasions while carrying a lifelike baby doll, police said.
Tonya Whiteny, 42, was booked on suspicion of trespassing after trying to enter the newborn baby unit of Mercy Medical Center Merced, first on Saturday then again on Monday, with an unidentified male companion.
Whiteny and the man were treating the doll as if it was a real child, cooing at it, changing its diapers and posing for pictures holding it, according to a report from KSFN-TV in Fresno.
She told police that she was trying to sell the doll to the hospital as a training tool, but police were skeptical of that explanation.
“It almost sounds reasonable,” Merced police Capt. Tom Trinidad told The Chronicle. “But if you’re trying to sell something, you go the business office. Any businessperson would know that the nurses in the maternity ward aren’t responsible for purchasing.”

And You Are Still Against The Death Penalty???

From the Chicago Tribune:  A much-feared gang leader who federal prosecutors allege murdered an off-duty Chicago police detective and his female companion in 2008 shot the pair for no other reason than to show how coldblooded he could be, an underling told police days after the slayings.
Terrance Scott told police that Traveling Vice Lord lieutenant Jason "J-Rock" Austin had been staking out the home of a gang rival whom he intended to kill when he noticed an SUV parked nearby that he decided to rob, according to a video recording of the interview played Friday in federal court.
Austin walked up with a drawn revolver and told Robert Soto, 49, an off-duty detective, to turn over any cash or valuables he had, Scott told police. Soto may have fumbled with his wallet before Austin opened fire on the off-duty officer and Kathryn Romberg, 45, in the early morning of Aug. 13, 2008, as they sat in Soto's SUV on West Franklin Boulevard.
Scott said there was no reason for Austin to shoot the two.

If there was ever a death penalty case, this would be it, but not according to Eric Holder and President Obama, who apparently found something redeeming about this thug as they are only going for life and looks like a possibility of parole.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid apologized Friday for jokes he made about Asians during a luncheon of business leaders in Las Vegas earlier this week.

Reid was addressing the city's Asian Chamber of Commerce on Thursday when he told the audience, "I don't think you're smarter than anybody else, but you've convinced a lot of us you are."

When another man was summoned to the podium, he grabbed the microphone and quipped, "One problem I've had today is keeping my Wongs straight."
Both comments were met with laughter from the crowd of about 150 people.
The incident was captured on video by a tracker, posted on YouTube and distributed to reporters by America Rising, a Republican opposition research firm.

Is It High Crimes And Misdemeanors Time Yet

Well, lookey here, the Obama administration broke another law, one of many he has committed.

A nonpartisan government watchdog agency said Thursday that the Pentagon broke the law when it swapped five Taliban leaders for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl earlier this year.
The Government Accountability Office, in a legal opinion issued at the request of congressional lawmakers, said the Defense Department violated the law by failing to notify key Capitol Hill committees at least 30 days in advance.

Further, the report said the Pentagon broke another law by using funds that were not technically available.

Defense Department press secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby told Fox News Thursday night,  "the operation to retrieve Sgt. Bergdahl was lawfully conducted and that was also the judgment of the Justice Department. Nothing has changed about our view that this was a lawful recovery operation."
The GAO said the law in this case is "clear and unambiguous." The agency said that while the Defense Department defended the legality of the controversial swap, "in our view, DOD has dismissed the significance of the express language" in the law.
The report comes several months after the Obama administration released five senior Taliban members from Guantanamo Bay in exchange for Bergdahl, who had disappeared in 2009. The liberals want to fry the police officer who shot the thug in Ferguson, after the thug broke the officer's eye socket and almost beat him into unconsciousness. 
From WND: Among the demands of the “protesters” in Ferguson is that the investigation and prosecution of police officer Darren Wilson be taken away from St. Louis County Prosecutor Robert McCulloch.
McCulloch is biased, it is said. How so? In 1964, his father, a St. Louis police officer, was shot to death by an African-American.
Moreover, McCulloch comes from a family of cops. He wanted to be a police officer himself, but when cancer cost him a leg as a kid, he became a prosecutor.
Yet, in 23 years, McCulloch has convicted many cops of many crimes, and has said that if Gov. Jay Nixon orders him off this case, he will comply. Meanwhile, he is moving ahead with the grand jury.
As for Gov. Nixon, he revealed his closed mind by demanding the “vigorous prosecution” of a cop who has not even been charged and by calling repeatedly for “justice for [Brown's] family” but not Wilson’s.
What has been going on for two weeks now in Ferguson, with the ceaseless vilification of Darren Wilson and the clamor to arrest him, is anti-American. It is a mob howl for summary judgment, when this case cries out, not for a rush to judgment, but for a long tedious search for the whole truth of what happened that tragic day.
For conflicting stories have emerged.
The initial version was uncomplicated. On Aug. 9, around noon, Brown and a companion were walking in the street and blocking traffic when ordered by Wilson to move onto the sidewalk.
Brown balked, a scuffle ensued. Wilson pulled out his gun and shot him six times, leaving Brown dead in the street. Open and shut. A white cop, sassed by a black kid, goes berserk and empties his gun.
Lately, however, another version has emerged.
Fifteen minutes before the shooting, Brown was caught on videotape manhandling and menacing a clerk at a convenience store he was robbing of a $44 box of cigars.
A woman, in contact with Wilson, called a radio station to say that Brown and Wilson fought in the patrol car and Brown had gone for the officer’s gun, which went off.
When Brown backed away, Wilson pointed his gun and told him to freeze. Brown held up his hands, then charged. Wilson then shot the 6-foot-4, 292-pound Brown six times, with the last bullet entering the skull.
St. Louis County police then leaked that Wilson had been beaten “severely” in the face and suffered the fracture of an eye socket.
Brown’s companion, Dorian Johnson, says Brown was running away when Wilson began to fire. But, according to the autopsies, all of the bullets hit Brown in the front. ABC now reports that Dorian Johnson has previously been charged with filing a false police report.
If the first version is true, Wilson is guilty. If the second is true, Brown committed two felonies before being shot, and Darren Wilson fired his weapon in defense of his life.
If there is any public official who should recuse himself from any role in this investigation, it is not Robert McCulloch but Eric Holder.
Holder has a lifelong, almost Sharpton-like, obsession with race.
Three weeks in office, he declared America a “nation of cowards” for refusing to discuss race more. Arriving in St. Louis, he declared, “I am the attorney general of the United States. But I am also a black man.”
Query. What is the chief law enforcement officer of the United States, who is heading up the federal investigation of the shooting of a black teenager by a white cop, doing declaring his racial solidarity?

When Will They March For This 9 Year Old?

From the Chicago Tribune: A 9-year-old boy was killed and at least seven others were wounded in separate shootings on the city's South and Northwest Sides, officials said.
The boy killed had been shot in the 1200 block of East 71st Street in the city’s Grand Crossing neighborhood, police said. The boy was in a backyard near train tracks when he was shot in the chest, hands and arms, police said. The boy was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead, said police.
A resident on east 71st place described hearing six shots. He also said the sound of gunfire is very common due to the drug and gang activity in the area. Police with dogs were investigating the area nearby where train tracks were located.
The first shooting happened about 3:45 p.m. on the 3900 block of South Lake Park Avenue in the city's Oakland neighborhood. Two teens, ages 16 and 18, suffered gunshot wounds, according to Police News Affairs. The 16-year-old boy was taken in critical condition to Comer Children's Hospital in Hyde Park. She said her son found a “neatly dressed” boy lying in the backyard of a neighboring apartment building.

The Real Reason Why The Thugs Are Protesting/Rioting In Ferguson

If the media weren't involved and I believe provoking the riots and protests for the news headline of the day and the protestors and other associated thugs who want to be seen on TV and in the newspaper, the protests and riots would have lasted a day, if not shorter.
I realize the media have a job to do but they have to admit they love the riots and the police response because it looks good on TV.
If the cops were smart, they would allow 1 pool reporter embedded with the cops and that would be it.  Instead, they probably have more media than rioters, all looking for the money shot.

Guess What Arizona Diamond Back Visited Our school Yesterday?

It came slithering onto our baseball field, about 3 feet from the blacktop.  The kids were at recess when the snake was discovered.
The snake was gently captured and taken to the desert, far away from the school.... but not by me.
I've also had 2 bull snakes slither past my classroom so far this year.
I've also seen some huge bugs I've never seen before.
They forgot to mention this snake thingy during the job interview.

From the LVRJ: A drunk driver did not deserve “execution” by a Texas father accused of taking the law into his own hands in a fit of rage over the killing of his two sons in a wreck, a prosecutor told jurors on Tuesday.
David Barajas is accused of fatally shooting Jose Banda in December 2012, minutes after Banda plowed into a pickup truck that Barajas and his two sons had been pushing on a rural road. Twelve-year-old David Jr. died at the scene and 11-year-old Caleb died at a hospital. Barajas’ truck had run out of gas about 100 yards from the family’s home.
Barajas’ attorney told jurors his client did not kill Banda and was focused only on saving his sons.
In opening statements Tuesday in Barajas’ murder trial, prosecutor Brian Hrach told jurors Banda made a horrible decision by drinking and driving,
“He deserved severe legal punishment, but he did not deserve a public execution,” Hrach said.
Barajas allegedly left the scene of the accident, retrieved a gun from his home and returned to kill Banda.
Sam Cammack, Barajas’ attorney, told jurors Barajas never left the crash site. Cammack portrayed Barajas as a father who was desperate to help his sons and was covered with their blood after he tried to perform CPR on the boys.
“When police get there my client is doing what he was doing the whole time, trying to save his children’s lives,” Cammack said.
Dashcam video of the crash scene played for jurors Tuesday after testimony had begun brought many in the courtroom to tears. Barajas kept his head down as the video was played.
On the video, Barajas can be seen kneeling on the ground near a roadside ditch where the body of his son David Jr. had landed. A woman can be heard screaming, “My babies. Why? Oh my God, please help them.” David Barajas’ wife, Cindy, and their infant son and 8-year-old daughter had also been in the truck. They were not seriously hurt.
Legal experts said the case will be difficult to prosecute given the lack of hard evidence: no weapon was recovered, no witnesses identified Barajas as the shooter and gunshot residue tests done on Barajas came back negative.
An even greater challenge for prosecutors could be overcoming sympathy for the father. Many people in the town of Alvin where the tragedy occurred, 30 miles southeast of Houston, have supported Barajas. Some have said they might have done the same thing in a similar situation. This case should never have been brought to trial.  Even if he did it, I think it was justifiable, in the heat of the moment, if the guy even did it.
For those who have kids, if you see your kids killed in front of your eyes by a drunk driver, are you just supposed to say, "oh let the cops and attorneys take care of it?"  Most fathers, if they could would off the thug that just killed your kids in front of you and I don't blame them.
And since this is in the conservative part of Texas, this case will be a slam dunk not guilty verdict.

A California woman who was kicked in the face by a giraffe at Henry Vilas Zoo says she plans to contest the $686 citation she received after the Saturday incident.
Madison police cited Amanda Hall, 24, of San Luis Obispo, for harassment of zoo animals after officials said she crossed a barrier to get near the pen of a 2-year-old giraffe named Wally.
“I was not trying to harm the giraffe. I just don’t think it’s fair,” Hall said of the citation. “I got hit in the face by a giraffe. I had to deal with all that. That was a lot of pain to deal with already. I don’t need a fine and this on my record. I don’t ‘harass’ zoo animals. I’m an animal lover.”
Hall needed at least 10 stitches below her lip , she told the Los Angeles Times. Efforts by the State Journal to reach Hall were unsuccessful.
Hall, who was visiting friends in Madison, disputed the police report that she climbed over one fence and was partially through a second fence when the giraffe injured her. Instead, she said, she easily stepped over a 3-foot-high, gate-like barrier and did not climb the second fence. She said the giraffe put its head through a gap in the fence and ate some grass out of her hand.
“He had some grass and nuzzled my head,” Hall said. “He licked me and then I got a kick to the chin. It was a shock.”
She said she grew up with animals and stressed that she doesn’t fault the zoo or the giraffe. Nobody is to blame for what happened, she said.
Hall, who planned to return to California on Monday, said she’d like to apologize to the zoo for “stepping over the line.”
“Obviously I won’t do it again,” she said. The barricade is “there for a reason. I just didn’t think twice about it. I just didn’t think it was a big deal.”

Just Wondering.. Why Do Cops Investigate Car Accidents?

This picture in the LVRJ had me wondering, why police officers are the ones who investigate motor vehicle accidents instead of people in the private sector?
Just in this picture, at a scene of a motorcycle fatal accident in North Las Vegas, shows that least 3 (two motorcycle cops and an officer in the car) but probably many more, will be off the streets while they investigate this accident for several hours, probably around 4 hours and if it is the Nevada Highway Patrol, about 6-8 hours.
Why can't they hire traffic investigators who investigate these accidents and if there is a need for a ticket to be written or an arrest, then call the cops in, or have 1 cop on stand by in major accidents.
Cops spend hours investigating major accidents at the scene and more back at the station, taking them off the street while they cold be doing cop things.  Maybe it could reduce the number of cops and the overtime associated with these bad accidents.
Of course, the union hacks will say the cops are better at it but that is crap, as usual.
And they will say tradition, but cops used to ride horseback and they broke that tradition.
So, just putting it out there.

Remember Barack Obama telling his followers to always "bring a gun to a knife fight"? Like good subjects do, his supporters in Texas obeyed. Friday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry was indicted on two counts of abuse of power. 
This ridiculous politically motivated “indictment” of Governor Rick Perry stems from the ugly thug tactics of the "politics of personal destruction" that the left is known for. They draw blood and leave scars on conservatives who threaten their political power, hoping the threat retreats and hoping his or her base of support remains silent in fear of becoming collateral damage.

Thankfully, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and those of us with scars to prove it can help others learn from things like this Texas-sized political drama.

First and foremost, today's liberals have no shame. Case in point: Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg.
Lehmberg was busted for drunk driving with an open bottle of vodka in her car after a 911 call reported her endangering others while swerving erratically on the road. The D.A. was smashed -- three times over the legal limit. 
She was a nut job while in custody, disgracefully threatening law enforcement officials and lashing out violently. The D.A. had to be physically restrained. It was all caught on tape. The extent of the D.A.'s serious drinking problem was uncovered, evidence included her purchase of 72 bottles of vodka in just one store alone, in just over a year. It's reasonable to believe she imbibed elsewhere, too.
The appropriate and honorable thing for this powerful D.A. to do -- note, she's the county's chief law enforcement officer and her job is to decide which law-breaking Texans she wants to put in jail - is resign. Governor Perry asked her to do so, which any good governor would do. But because this D.A. is a hardcore Democrat in a hardcore-Democrat county, and Governor Perry is a Republican, Democrats rallied around her and she refused to resign.
Lehmberg's D.A.’s office runs the state’s Public Integrity Unit which prosecutes public crimes like government corruption. Texans were baffled that this clearly unfit official was running a unit with huge statewide importance and they lost confidence in this government oversight unit.
Governor Perry used appropriate tools under the Texas Constitution to urge Lehmberg to do the right thing, using line item veto power to defund the Public Integrity Unit until it could actually serve the public with integrity, under a leader who had integrity. 
According to reports, he reached out to alleviate the Democrats’ fears about her replacement by promising to select her right hand man for the post – essentially giving liberals their desired replacement. All he wanted was for this unfit public official to step aside.
The governor was doing his job in looking out for the people, but Democrats only care about Democrats, and drunk or sober, Lehmberg was one of them. 
Her liberal supporters filed an ethics complaint against Perry, defying commonsense and common practice by claiming he abused power when he publicly announced his intention to veto.
The Travis County D.A.'s Office, still under Lehmberg, convened a grand jury, and – surprise, surprise! – Perry was “indicted.” Remember, a grand jury indictment is not a criminal conviction. From Chicago CBS: Seven people have been killed and at least 29 others wounded in shootings across the city since Friday evening, police said.
Two people were killed and another wounded in what police said was a “domestic-related” shooting in Roseland late Sunday.
The shooting occurred about 9:55 p.m. in the 400 block of West 104th Street, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said, citing preliminary information.
Two people were dead at the scene, said Greer, who added that the shooting is believed to be “domestic-related.”
A man was shot and killed early Sunday in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.
Police found 26-year-old Kardeon Glover, of the 4100 block of West Grenshaw, with a gunshot wound to the head on the sidewalk in the 900 block of North Karlov about 1:15 a.m., authorities said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A police source said the man had gang affiliations.
Two people were killed and a third was wounded in a shooting Saturday night in Logan Square.

Why Are There So Many Fires At Fire Stations?

If you read the web site, Firehouse, just about every month, there is a story about a firehouse burning down or is severely damaged.
Shouldn't the local fire station be the least likely place to have a fire?
From Firehouse: Leaders of the island's fire department are weighing their options after their main station was leveled in a devastating fire at the Commercial Block Building.
Fire Chief Robert C. Markert said that since the department leased space from the Thousand Island Park Corp., which owned the building, the staff is evaluating its next move.
"That's going to be the big decision over the next few weeks," he said.
Since the fire early Thursday morning, the department has been flooded with offers to lend equipment, though it has turned down many of them due to a lack of storage space.
"We don't need any more equipment," Mr. Markert said. "We need a place to put it."
The department has enough equipment at its station on County Route 100A to remain in service in a limited capacity.
In a note released Friday afternoon, Jefferson County Emergency Services Director Joseph D. Plummer called the outpouring of support for the department "the true meaning of Brotherhood!"

An early Friday morning fire at Friendship Hose Company gutted the station's kitchen and bar, but spared firefighting equipment, including turnout gear and the station's rescue and squad vehicles.
Sunbury Fire Chief Ken Kipple said the fire is not considered suspicious, and the origin has been narrowed down to the kitchen on the first floor of the three-story station. The second floor, where the kitchen and bar was once located, sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. From the Las Vegas Sun: A woman who unknowingly drank iced tea laced with an industrial cleaning solution at a Utah restaurant has whispered and gotten out of bed, her lawyer said Saturday.

The progress marks the first sign of improvement for Jan Harding since the 67-year-old was rushed to a hospital nearly a week ago with severe burns to her mouth and throat, according to family attorney Paxton Guymon.

The heavy-duty cleaner that ended up in the sweetened iced tea Harding drank Sunday at a Dickey's Barbecue in a Salt Lake City suburb was unintentionally mixed into a bag of sugar, which a worker later added into the iced tea dispenser, authorities have said.
Harding's breathing tube has been removed, and she was doing well without it, Guymon said in an email.
She had not been able to speak in days, nor had she been on her feet before standing briefly with the help of nurses, according to Guymon. "Everyone is more optimistic today," he wrote. "Any such sign of improvement is good news."...

You go out to eat with your family and expect a good meal and you darn near die after drinking ice tea because someone accidently mixes lye with sugar.

The Crazies In Fergeson

Police fired smoke and tear gas canisters early Sunday in an effort to disperse several dozen protesters who defied a curfew in a St. Louis suburb where a black teenager was fatally shot by a white police officer last week. 
The Missouri Highway Patrol said that seven people were arrested and one man had been shot at the site of the protest in Ferguson, Mo. Missouri State Highway Patrol Capt. Ron Johnson said that the shooting victim was in critical condition and had been rushed to a hospital by protesters. 

Johnson said the use of tear gas was precipitated by concerns about people who'd broken into a barbecue restaurant and taken position on the roof overlooking approaching police. Another concern involved a man flashing a handgun who appeared in the middle of the street as armored vehicles approached. Johnson says someone fired at a patrol car, but no officers were injured.

"I was disappointed in the actions of tonight," Johnson said.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that St. Louis Alderman Antonio French, who has taken part in demonstrations all week, told reporters that the police's tactics "were a lot better" than they could have been. French also said that he had attempted to convince people to honor the curfew, but some "didn't want to be told to leave."
French later tweeted, "I can tell you firsthand that some of the people that remained tonight were armed. Were ready for a fight. And wanted to injure police."
Hundreds of other protesters had left peacefully before the midnight-to-5 a.m. curfew took effect, but remaining protesters -- chanting "No justice! No curfew!" -- refused to leave the area.  http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/08/17/police-try-to-disperse-protesters-defying-ferguson-curfew/
First, I would be willing to bet that 95% of those protesting, and the vast majority of those are Black have said nothing about Black on Black crime in their neighborhood.  Like most Blacks, they turn a bland eye to violence in their own communities, but if a cop shoots and kills a Black person, right after they rob a store and they happen to be a very large person who fought with the cops, then they get pissed.
Second, the only reason the big thug was shot is because he robbed a store, assaulted the store owner and then fought with the cops.  He is responsible for his own death, not the cops.  If he had stayed out of trouble and not fought, this shooting never would have occurred.  It also doesn't help that President Obama has encouraged the rioters by not supporting the cops who are handling the riot.
Finally, The cops are being directed by liberals, including the governor of Missouri.  They are letting the thugs run wild.  They need a longer curfew, arrest anyone and everyone who is out and hold them for as long as possible and completely block off the areas where the rioting is taking place with a very large police presence.
It is obvious that in Ferguson, there has been no strong Black leadership in the community.  Otherwise, people would have listened to them and I don't blame the community for being pissed by having outsiders come in and telling them what to do, like the governor.  Before the riots, when was the last time the governor had been in Ferguson?
In the end, these rioters/protestors/hypocrites just feed the stereotypes other people have of inner city Blacks.
