Las Vegas To Get NHL Team

The NHL has settled on Las Vegas as its choice for expansion, provided organizers can come up with a $500 million fee, sources told ESPN's Scott Burnside.
The league's board of governors is scheduled to hold a formal vote during its meeting on June 22. Quebec City was also considered for expansion.
A person who had been briefed on the decision told The Associated Press, which previously reported the decision, that Las Vegas was a "done deal" after the recommendation of the NHL's executive committee.
The 2017-18 season is the earliest the league would expand.
The franchise would be the NHL's 31st team and the first major professional sports franchise in Las Vegas, the rapidly growing gambling center of the American West.
The NHL hasn't expanded since 2000, when Minnesota and Columbus paid $80 million each to join the league. Prospective Vegas owner Bill Foley is a wealthy businessman who isn't likely to blink at the elevated price tag previously proposed by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman as an expansion fee.
The Las Vegas bid says it has secured more than 13,200 season-ticket deposits for the new team, which will play in T-Mobile Arena, the sparkling new multipurpose building on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. Bill Foley did things right.  He is going into a privately built and owned (no government spending) arena, built up a ticket base and was patient.
Now, we will see if Las Vegas is a major league city or not.  And I am sure the NFL is going to watch this very closely as they consider whether the Oakland Raiders go to vegas or not, though I really hope not- it's a bad fit.

 Walker posted a new message with an image of a 50-star flag about 40 minutes after taking down the original. Both carry the same message: "Let us remember all that Old Glory stands for on Flag Day."

Walker was posting the messages on his political account from Mexico, where he is participating in a state-led trade mission. Chick-fil-A was roasted a few years ago for being anti-gay.
So, who was out front and trying to do it quietly, helping with the gay night club shooting in Orlando?

Normally Chick-fil-A is closed on Sunday so workers can go to church or spend time with their families or just sit on the front porch in a rocking chair and wave to passersby.
So when I received word through some of our readers that several Chick-fil-A restaurants in Orlando had opened their doors on Sunday – I was a bit intrigued.
Hours after the gunman had massacred 49 people and wounded dozens more in the Pulse nightclub, the community sprang into action.
One of the most inspiring photographs showed hundreds and hundreds of people waiting in long lines – for hours to donate blood.
Team members at two nearby Chick-fil-A restaurants figured those folks must be getting hungry. So somebody flipped on the lights and they started frying chicken.
Before long they were serving sandwiches and nuggets and sweet tea to all the folks waiting to donate blood – along with a host of law enforcement personnel.
“We love our city and love the people in our community,” a team member wrote on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
The following day many of their restaurants provided free chicken biscuits and orange juice to firefighters and police officers and first responders.
“We are appalled by the senseless crime that was committed this weekend, but we are part of a community that stands strong and stands together,” they wrote on Facebook.
So why is Chick-fil-A so generous?
It’s because Chick-fil-A’s number one priority is not to make a profit (which they do.) And it’s not to make the best chicken sandwich in the world (which they do).
Their number one corporate priority is to “glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.”
Chick-fil-A declined to comment on their activities in Orlando.

From the Laughlin Nevada Times: A suspect in the murder of an unidentified man in Laughlin Wednesday was apprehended Wednesday morning, less than an hour after the victim was discovered on the Heritage Trails pedestrian bridge.
Walter Klatt, age 49, is currently incarcerated in the Mohave County Jail in Kingman. Authorities plan to extradite him to Nevada, where he’s expected to be charged with murder with a deadly weapon.At about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, the park’s camp host summoned Las Vegas Metro officers to the south end of the bridge that crosses Highway 163. The host reported he’d been contacted by the individual who initially discovered the body because that person did not have a phone with which to call for help. Upon arrival, Metro officers determined they had a homicide on their hands and summoned detectives and the crime scene unit from Las Vegas.
Bullhead City Police Department officers stopped Klatt at about 3 a.m. Wednesday because he was riding a bicycle without a head lamp, an offense for which he’d had been warned previously, said Emily Fromelt, BHCPD spokesperson.
Klatt, a transient, was very uncooperative and told officers he didn’t care if he got a ticket, that he’d just eat it anyway. He also shouted profanities at the policemen. Upon receiving the ticket, Klatt crumpled it up and threw it on the ground, Fromelt said. He was then arrested for littering.
Lt. So, the guy is riding his bike and is given a ticket for not having a light on.
Instead of taking the ticket, he gets pissed off and throws the ticket on the ground.

I'm Sure Black Lives Matter Will Be Protesting This

From the Chicago Tribune: The five men were standing next to a playground just off the Eisenhower Expressway late Monday when someone opened fire with a rifle, hitting all of them, according to police.
The shooting in the 3200 block of West Congress Parkway punctuated 19 hours of gun violence Monday through Tuesday morning that saw 29 people shot across Chicago, three of them fatally — a toll usually associated with whole weekends in the city.

The men were on the street the runs along the playground, known as "Park 422," when they were hit around 11:35 p.m. Monday, police said.

At least three piled into a van and sped off, finally stopping on the California ramp to the Eisenhower, police at the scene said.  A fourth walked across the expressway and into the Harrison District police station a block away.
Among the fatal shootings was a 21-year-old man who was hit in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side around 10:45 p.m., police said.  
The man was walking in the 5600 block of South May Street when someone in a passing black sedan fired shots, striking him in the left side, police said.  He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.
Around 9:30 p.m., a 28-year-old man was shot to death and a 21-year-old man was wounded in the 5300 block of West Gladys Avenue in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, police said.
The 28-year-old was shot several times and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Alfaro said.  The 21-year-old was grazed in the left buttocks and walked into Loyola University Medical Center, Alfaro said.
Earlier in the day, an 18-year-old man was discovered inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds to the head and hand in a shooting about 11:55 a.m. in the 6500 block of South Ross Avenue in the Englewood neighborhood. The man was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

In a bizarre twist of events, a Sheboygan County man was hospitalized on Saturday after the jack he used to steal the rims off a 2016 GMC Sierra couldn't hold up the weight of the truck, which collapsed on him.
The 45-year-old man was found trapped beneath the vehicle at 6:45 a.m. on Saturday by a customer pulling into the parking lot of Meyer Motors at 107 Plaza Lane in Plymouth.
The Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office said the man had been trapped for seven hours.
He was transported to ThedaCare Medical Center in Neenah, where he is being treated.
Steve Schuh, sales manager at Meyer Motors, said the man does have a fractured skull but was able to communicate with authorities when he was found on Saturday morning.
Schuh said one of the rims was stolen, but was later recovered. He added that another person may have been with the man and left with a rim before the car fell.

In other words, the FBI had limited options at stopping Mateen because it was ordered to back off its investigation into his mosque.

And this piece of crap "news organization " decided that today they going to rip on Donald Trump.
Weekend Edition in the 3 to 4:00 hour had at least 2 segments, if not more, they ripped on Trump. The first time was just an ordinary, standard hit job.
The 2nd segment to blame Trump for the terrorist attack.
The BBC attacked and his temperment and said his volatile temperment by saying the attack was done by a muslim extremist was over the top, even though it is very clear that a muslim extremist carried out the terrorist attack.  And it is the weak kneed liberals who are laying low and showing the world how weak American liberals are.
It's 1 thing to rip on Trump because are what scaredy cats do, it's another totally different to do so before the bodies are even removed from Pure or next of kin are notified.
Without a doubt, all government funding should cease immediately to NPR.

1 Agency That Deserves Credit In muslim Terrorist Shooting

This morning, at scene of the muslim terrorist attack, many first responders got credit and well deserved at that. This includes the Orlando police officers and all other poliee agencies involved. The medical staff at the local hospitals andbthose giving hugs and blood.  Very well deserved.
But first responder agengy seems to be let out of the praise.
And that would be the Orlando paramedics and firefighters who gave emergency trauma to at least 3 to 4 dozen people. They were truly herioc. This also their medical director, various fire chiefs and training instructors.
They saved many lives with their trauma medicine and their telling the hospitals what kind of patients they wrte getting .

50 Dead In Terrorist Attack At Orlando Gay Night Club

A terrorist by an muslim has killed at least 50 people and injured at least 53 people in an Orlando, FL. night club.  It is the largest mass shooting in the United States.

He was born in New York to parents of Afghan origin and was a Muslim, Fox News confirmed.
A licensed security officer, Mateen also had a Statewide Firearms License, Fox News reported....
"More likely than not, that it was an ideologically motivated attack," Grayson said, though he said it was unclear if Mateen was linked to any terror groups.
"It's not coincidence the attack took place where it did and when it did," Grayson said.
Orlando Regional Medical Center called in six trauma surgeons, including a pediatric surgeon, as victims poured in, Dr. Michael Cheatham said. A couple of questions:
1. Why did it take a couple of hours to capture the muslim terrorist?
2.  Obviously, the guy flew under the screen because he was a security officer allowed to have guns and worked with the cops, or was he known to have radical ties and he was given the license because the city/county didn't want to offend him because he was muslim?
3. Was this murder connected to the murder of the singer, Christine Grimmie?
4.  Why do gays support Hillary Clinton as she is a huge supporter of terrorist countries, where they hate gays?
5.  Will Obama immediately label this as a terrorist attack as he has denied muslim terror attacks in the past.  He has a conflict as he is friends with terrorists and he is considered the first gay president as he has supported/rammed down policies supporting gays?
6.  Will gay haters come out and laugh or support this attack, especially very conservative religious ministers?  I really hope not, though I am sure the despicable westboro church is probably jumping for joy.
7.  Fox News reported that the muslim terrorist was under investigation by the FBI 2 times, in 2014 and 2016.  Why were these investigations dropped?

This is a sad day in America, the 2nd largest muslim terrorist attack in history.  We knew this was coming and shows again that islam is not a religion of peace.

A federal appeals court in San Francisco ruled Thursday that people do not have a Second Amendment right to carry concealed weapons in public, in a sweeping decision likely to be challenged by gun-rights advocates. 
An 11-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued the ruling, determining that law enforcement can require applicants to show they are in immediate danger or have another good reason for a permit.
The judges dismissed the argument that a right to carry a concealed weapon was contained in the Second Amendment.
"We hold that the Second Amendment does not preserve or protect a right of a member of the general public to carry concealed firearms in public," wrote Judge William Fletcher in the majority opinion. 
If challenged, it could set up a Supreme Court fight. 
The decision overturns a 2014 ruling by a smaller panel, and resulted from a case in which a sheriff in San Diego County required applicants to show supporting documents, such as restraining orders against attackers, in order to get a permit.

Personal: This Totally Sucks

A Special education aide I worked with this pat school year, who has worked for the school district I work in for 15 years, from 2001 to May 27, 20016.
Her last day was on a Friday, May 27th..
On Saturday, May 28th, she had a stroke that has left with total left side paralysis and has affected other areas of her body.
So, the day after she retired, she had a stroke that will leave her permanently disabled  for the rest of her life.
That really sucks.

Personal: Why I Haven't Been Writing Lately

I haven't done a lot of posts lately and there several reasons for it.
In early March, I got arrested for DUI.  I was working on a 19 hour day, driving home and almost home when I apparently swerved into another lane on I-40.  A State trooper pulled me over gave me some field tests, which I passed some, especially the cognitive ones but failed the physical ones, like walking a straight line.  However, being a long day, having numb feet, driving for an hour and a bad back, I wasn't going to pass the tests any time, under any condition.  But because I use Oxycodone, he busted me for DUI and spent a few hours in jail. 
Not a big deal to be in jail for me because when I was working to get through college, I worked at Mendota Mental Institute in Wisconsin, an institution for the mentally ill, especially the criminally insane.  I worked on the unit that housed the worst of the worst criminally insane and worked in a prison setting, including jail cells, so the hours spent in the Mohave County jail wasn't that big deal.
When I got checked into the jail, the jail nurse took my blood pressure and sensed something was very wrong right away and she got an EKG for me and did a several other tests.  She immediately called the doctor on call and got me on some high blood pressure medicine and another med.
I plead not guilty and intend to fight all the way to trial and I am acting as my own attorney.
Then 2 days later, I got sick at work and ended up going to the emergency room, where I was diagnosed with a possible ATI (mini stroke), my kidneys were shutting down and my blood pressure was dangerously high.  I spent about 4 days in the hospital and finally got my blood pressure under control. 
This is what caused me to get the DUI.   I am not mad at the trooper because he probably saved my life because it forced me to get treatment.
So, I was in a bit of depression for all of this.
Then about a month ago, I was attacked by a student at the school I taught at, a big student, got hit several times and AI had to take him down to prevent him from hurting me and others in the classroom. 
Because of this, I injured my knee and my shoulder.  My knee is now ok but my shoulder still hurts and it is hard to do certain things, like driving and typing.
I also missed about 3 weeks of work and my shoulder is still not healed.
More depression.
Then my wife was in the hospital because of a diabetic ulcer and now she is in a cast to help the healing and it is healing.
So, because of all of this, with a bit of depression, I just haven't posted like I used to.
Sorry.

Trump And Liberal Hypocrisy

So, the liberals and some weak kneed Republicans are complaining about what Donald Trump complaining that the judge in his lawsuit about Trump University is Mexican.  They called Trump racist and insensitive.
Meanwhile, the Democrats nominated Hillary Clinton whose sole qualification is because she is a woman.
Meaning of course, Hillary supporters are also bigots because they voted for her solely because she is a woman and refused to consider voting for a man.
And, don't forget, the democrats/liberals are a group of racists who enjoy keeping minorities in the liberal racist plantations.
Liberals provide horrible education to poor areas.
They keep minorities poor and dependent on liberal money welfare programs.
The liberals are killing the Black population by admitting so many illegals to take jobs in the inner cities and the suburbs.
Because of the liberals, especially Hillary Clinton, they keep police from policing the high crime areas, making many innocent people victims of crimes.
Because of the poor education and lack of opportunities, liberals will keep so many Blacks in prison and on probation.
So, Trump makes a stupid comment but the liberals are the real racists.

So, Hillary won the Democrat's nomination fore president.
So what?
So, she is the first woman presidential nominee.  So what.
Of all the Democrats out there, Hillary is best they got?
She barely beat an old geezer who is a socialist and so the Democrat party really is divided.
But again.  Hillary, who is under criminal investigation, is the Democrat nominee.

Muhammad Ali Dead

"The Greatest" has died.
Muhammad Ali died tonight in Phoenix of Parkinsons in a Phoenix hospital and he was 74.
Growing up, I didn't like his views, didn't care for his religion change and bombastic rantings.  But over the years I began to appreciate him more and finally became a fan of his.
He is truly a legend, both in and out of the ring.
RIP to Ali and prayers to his friends and family. 

Very Strange

Today, a Thunderbird pilot and airplane crashed in Colorado at about the same time a Blue Angel presumably was killed in Tennessee when his plane crashed during a practice run. The Thunderbirds were doing a flyover for the graduation at the Academy and President Obama was in attendancen
The Thunderbirds are out of Nellis AFB while the Blue Angels are out of of Pensacola Florida.
These are the best pilots and crew of the Air Force and Navy and at almost the same you have 2 planes go down?
Something doesn't seem right to me.
I hope they check for terrorism and sabotage.
Update: apparently, both planes that crashed were both number 6. Strange.

The Power Of The Internet

I don't shock easily but blew mind.
Today, at school, I was attacked by a special needs student with a violent history. I got a bit banged up but the kid did not harm any students or staff.  Not a big deal for me, it's happened a few times in my 19 year career.
What blew my mind was that even before the altercation had ended, the incident was on Facebook, Havasu Scanner Feed and being broadcast via Internet around the country.  A former colleague who lived in Virginia called a teacher before the incident ended, wondering what was going on.  An aide who was out sick informed a teacher at school what was happening and they came and helped because she read about on Facebook.
It just blows my mind that while was fighting with this, getting punched and kicked that it already was over the Internet for all to see.
Amazing.

10 Reasons Why Donald Trump Will Be President In 2017

Here are 10 reasons why I believe Donald Trump will win the presidential election in November.

1.  His opponent, Hillary Clinton.  The Democrats could not put up a weaker than Clinton.  Other than Clinton is a woman, she doesn't have any positive qualifications to be president.  It also helps Trump that Clinton is under heavy investigation for her e-mail scandal.
2.  Donald Trump knows how to win.  He beat 16 highly qualified Republicans in this race.  He has also won in business and on his reality shows, like The Apprentice.
3.  The media, for the most part, love him.  Fox News drools over him and Trump will show up just about anywhere for an interview.  The media also likes a lot of his flamboyant rants.  The media also want this election close so they can get ratings, so look for a few months of bad Hillary news, compared to Trump.
4.  The media don like Hillary.  While Trump is very open to the press, Clinton is not and the press, I believe will turn on her, even though they love her liberalism.
5.  Trump will turn all the protests and riots that will be sure to come into a positive.  Most people don't like people who are anarchists, rioters and thugs.  These thugs don't bother Trump and in fact, they embolden Trump.
6.  Trump is not afraid of Hillary Clinton and all of her investigators.  Trump's life already has been investigated and he more than likely, has no ghosts in his closet that will come out and hurt Trump.  Meanwhile, Hillary's closet is so overloaded with ghosts and scandals that they have had to hire Pods and their warehouses for all of Clinton's storage problems.
7.  Most of Trump's supporters will be excited to vote for Trump in November and the GOP establishment that don't like him will either shut up or quietly support Trump.
8.  Hillary's supporters are few and if she can't Bernie Sander's supporters to vote for her, she is toast.
9.  Hillary is a career politician and this is a bad year for career politicians or political establishment folks.  If you add the votes for Cruz, Trump and Sanders- all political outsiders, they crush Hillary.
10.  While Trump has large negatives now, I predict those negative numbers will decrease significantly as people get to know him better in the next 6 months or so and Hillary's numbers will stay about the same.

The Person Who Is Most responsible For Ted's Cruz's Loss

Mark Levin is a huge reason why Ted Cruz lost, especially in the past few weeks.
Levin is a conservative talk show host, even more conservative than Rush Limbaugh and he went all in with Cruz right around the New Hampshire primary.
This is also the time that Levin was bought off by Cruz, when Cruz's PAC's started to advertise on Levin's show, essentially buy Levin's love.  Levin was bribed by Cruz and then Levin went all in with Cruz, to the absurd. 
Levin repeated all the talking points the Left was saying about Trump.
Levin accused Trump of being a bully, even though that is Levin's trademark- being a bully against liberals.
He fully supported all the dirty tricks Cruz's campaign did in the GOP elections.
Levin spent almost all of his 3 hours on the air propping up Levin, basically ignoring the rest of the issues of the day.
While Levin was trashing Trump, he basically ignored Hillary Clinton, making many us wondering if Levin will support Hillary for president.
And Levin insulted all of Trump supporters, which some are his listeners.
So, congratulations to Mark Levin for helping to bring down Ted Cruz.

The Republicans have their nominee, Donald Trump when Ted Cruz dropped out.
You do have to give Ted Cruz credit for staying in this long and providing another path to those who hate the insiders of the GOP party, like myself.
It is tough to run for president, no matter what political party you belong in.  Days are long, nights are short and the food you eat is crap.
So, thanks to Ted Cruz for running.

I'm familiar with some of the fire departments.  Who hasn't heard of Intercourse, PA?  And I've driven through Embarrass, WI.
I'm surprised the "Bird in the Hand" Fire Department wasn't mentioned along with the Climax fire departments (apparently, more than 1).

Turmoil In The school District Where I Teach At

Tomorrow will be an interesting day at the Lake Havasu Unified Public School District/Lake Havasu High School.
There is talk of a student walk out to support the teachers who are facing a pay decrease of at least $2500-3000 from their paychecks over a 9 month period of time, mostly due to insurance premium increases.  The teachers also have not had a raise in over 8 years.
So, several hundred students plan on walking out of class at 11:00, but since Thursday is an early release day, they will be missing only 1 hour of class time.
In my 19 years of teaching, I have never been involved in this kind of action by students, so it will interesting to see what happens.
In Lake Havasu, this is a huge story, in Mohave County, it's an important story, in Arizona, it's mildly interesting and in the U.S., it probably won't even be a mention in any news stories.

You Know When You Live In A Small City When...

You get arrested for assault with a deadly weapon...a banana.
From the Lake Havasu News Herald: Travis Ramsey, 21, of Lake Havasu City was arrested on assault and disorderly conduct charges at a residence on Indian Peak Drive on April 10.
Police say Ramsay verbally threatened a female victim and threw a banana at her, striking her in the chest and head.
The female told police she did not have any injuries.

Life is Not A Video Game And Crime Is Not A Farmer's Market

You can only shake your head and wonder if the family involved watches a lot of video games and watch reality TV.
From the Kingman Daily Miner: Andrew Granados is not happy with the prospect of spending the next two or three decades in prison. Not many people would be, but for Granados, who doesn't turn 17 until this summer, 30 years behind bars likely seems like a fate far worse than death.
He's also learning the hard way that the Constitution affords him rights to an attorney and to a fair trial - but he doesn't get to pick his attorney and he has no right to a plea deal.
Granados is one of three defendants accused in a home invasion Jan. 27 that led to a woman being shot, her dog being injured, and her money and her car stolen. He stands accused of attempted murder and other felony counts and is one of two juveniles in the case who has been charged as an adult. Samuel Jacob Bravo, 15, and Ashlin Gene Whitesinger, 18, also face multiple felony charges.
Granados was in court with his attorney Ron Gilleo on Monday, and he didn't like what Judge Lee Jantzen or prosecutor Jacob Cote had to say.
Gilleo told Jantzen he and Granados received the proposed plea agreement just minutes before Granados was scheduled to change his plea to guilty. Gilleo asked for a one-month postponement.
Jantzen said he received a note from Granados, who has been in the Mohave County jail since shortly after the incident, in which he is requesting a new attorney.
In fact, Granados and his family have a specific attorney in mind.
"You don't have a right to pick your attorney," said Jantzen. "You have the right to an attorney, but you don't get to pick one. And you're not entitled to a plea offer. You're entitled to a fair trial."
Gilleo said Granados' parents are under the belief that "you never take the first plea offer," taking the same approach one would take in purchasing a used car.
"I haven't yet put a deadline on the plea offer," said Cote, warning such offers can be taken off the table after a period of time. "I have no plans to make a more generous offer."....
Speaking in general terms and not specifically about Granados, Gilleo said juveniles who commit serious offenses often don't understand the reality of the criminal justice system.

Civics lessons have pretty much disappeared from the curriculum of public schools and it doesn't help that you have individuals and families who probably sit around the house and play video games and watch the latest episodes of the Kardashians.  Drugs and alcohol probably are thrown in for good measure.
This little thug will be lucky get 20-30 years in prison considering the charges he is facing.

Peachtree City police also advise residents not to feed the 6-foot gator known as "Flat Creek Floyd" as he soaks in the sun on Flat Creek, about 30 miles southwest of downtown Atlanta.
Peachtree City police Lt. Mark Brown tells WSB-TV that the gator's presence has "gone a little crazy" on social media.
Police say that when Floyd was spotted earlier this month, it was the first alligator sighting in the area in five years. Gators are common in parts of south Georgia, but are not usually seen in metro Atlanta.

I remember when I lived in Montana a guy got eaten by a grizzly bear after the ate up fellow took pictures of the said hungry bear.
The last picture of the hamburger looking chap was the bear standing on his rear paws and looked like the bear was growling...or the bear was saying "Darwin award winner, they are tasty and it's time to eat".
