Today starts the inquest of Eric Scott, the man who was killed at the Summerlin Costco by Metro police.
Right now, they are talking about Eric Scott's use of narcotic medicine and trashing Scott about it.
Excuse me if I just ask this question. What the hell does this have to with the shooting? Absolutely nothing. The cops didn't know he was on pain medication. The DA is just using this information for the sole purpose of trashing Eric Scott.
As a person who lives with chronic back pain and at times has to take strong pain medicine, the medicine has nothing to do with my behavior and I am sure it had nothing to do with his behavior at Costco.
So, maybe the DA and Metro will get to the facts of the shooting soon.

I absolutely disagree if he is under the influence of any controlled substance he is not to be in possession of a firearm in this state
ReplyDeleteSome people grow a tolerance to narcotics so that it doesn't affect them.
ReplyDeleteStill doesn't give the cops the right to shoot him. And to spend almost an entire day of this seems over the edge.
Thank you for stopping by, though.
That comment is so one sided!! If narcotics did not have an effect on a persons body, brain, or actions especially if abused then they would not need to be precsribed and monitored closely or have warning labels that say "Do not opperate heavy machineary" and all the other labels that come with it. Drugs have a lot to do with his (or anyones)inabilty to follow directions or possibly commprehend what he is being told to do!
ReplyDeleteNote: I was given Morphine after having surgey and it made me "high." I didn't like it beacuse I felt I was not in control of my body!
To anon, that could very well have happened to you but that was a shot deal, so to speak.
ReplyDeleteBut if you build up a tolerance, the effect is much different. Just like a booze hound. The effect of booze in a person depends on a person's tolerance.
I am not excusing his behavior, but it is also crazy for the DA to put so much emphasis on it.
Even if the guy was high as a kite, that is no reason to shoot him.
For regular users there are different types of morphine. His levels were so high because after a long amount of time it builds up in your body.Just like some drugs have an effect on peoples liver after long term use.As long as hed taken it Id doubt that, it made him high. Its not like a pill that you can pop, thats what people dont get.
ReplyDeleteSara/Anonymous - I bet you there are plenty of cops in Vegas' notorious LVMPD that are taking all sorts of medications without reporting it. There is no accountability. The cops who shot Mr. Scott should show proof that they were not using narcotics either. I agree with the Badger; this is just another attempt to trash Mr. Scott's reputation. The DA is looking for anything to help their case because this one has generated so much bad press.
