Breaking News: Lee County Superintendent Drops Out Of CCSD Job Race

The LVRJ is reporting that the Lee County Schools Superintendent, Dr. James Browder is dropping out of the CCSD superintendent job application process.
This is not surprising since he was being courted for a college job and also was fairly well liked in Lee County. But it seems like he took the college job.
Now CCSD is stuck with two inferior candidates for Superintendent. They have to reopen the search process immediately.

  1. Inside information. No plans to re-open the search. This is an "unfortunate consequence of seeking out such highly qualified applicants". It was a forgone conclusion the app was going to take the college job and was only tossing his hat in the ring to negotiate and get his name out there(was to pull out before he could be passed over, white guy had no chance of final selection). CCSD knew that going in. He was the token. Plan was to hire a "highly qualified" minority that represents the racial breakdown of CCSD(lumping black and hispanic to create a minority majority justification). Pretty sad then the main qualification is to hire the most qualified minority. Leaves out many qulified applicants with legitimate track records.

  2. I think you are right. That is what it looks like, right now. Milwaukee did the same thing as well. My bet is now on Jones, espcially after what the LVRJ said over the weekend.
No matter what happens, if they hire Jones or Hinojosa, there will be outrage in the community. Not because they hire a minority but because they hired someone not qualified. And since very few people are covering this, it seems like it will happen.
