Amish Buggy Takes Out Car

This doesn't happen very often. An Amish horse and buggy got into an accident outside of Wisconsin Rapids with a car and the horse and buggy won.
From the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune: At 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, a car driven by Donald L. Brehm, 63, Vesper, and a buggy driven by Samuel E. Wagler, 21, Arpin, collided while traveling east on Highway 186, just west of Hemlock Creek, according to a Sheriff’s Department crash report.
The car hit the back left corner of the buggy, which was fully compliant with all required
safety rules, crossed over the center line, went into the north ditch, overturned and landed upright on Hemlock Creek, according to the report. Wagler was not injured, though his horse received a small cut on its back leg.

The driver of the car was arrested for drunk driving, drinking in a car and inattentive driving.
This could have been a horrible accident as there are many times young kids are in these buggies and are often injured seriously.
So, it was nice to see 18th century technology beating 20th century technology for once.

  1. Hey Dan, Love the picture of the Amish horse and buggy! Did you notice the copyright on the lower left?

You need to contact the photographer and ask his permission to use the photo before you take it upon yourself to post it on your blog.

Please either take the picture down or get permission to use it.

    Thanks,

  2. You can have all my profits from the blog.
And if you don't like it, don't post it on line.

  3. I did not post it "on line" Dan. You are breaking copyright law. Last warning.

    1. Dan, Here is what you should do in the future.

      1) go to one of the many stock photo web sites and buy an image that suits your article. They are cheap.

      2) Find an image you like floating around on google in the images section when you do a search. Take a few minutes to find out who owns the image. In this case you won't need Serlock Holmes as the copyright notice is on the freakin thing. Contact the owner of the image, tell him or her they are wonderful and ask if you may please kindly use the image and offer to give them credit for their work and a "link back" to their site. Most of hem will say "okay". But if you just take it and then post some response like you did which is basically "stick it", then you won't be making many friends.

      Thanks,

  4. I have some problems with what you said.
    1. I don't know who you are- you may be David or an Internet troll looking for a fat buck or looking to harass someone. You could also be a competitor of the person who took the picture and don't want people to see the picture.
    2. It was on the Internet- someone uploaded it and that gives people permission to use it.
    3. If you disagree with number 2, look up "Righthaven" either on this blog or in general. It is case law here in Nevada. The LVRJ (local newspaper) tried to intimidate people who blog and post on line pictures and articles and they lost big time in the courts. and now they are bankrupt.
    4. I don't intimidate easily.
    5. Since I don't take advertising or any money from this blog, any lawsuit would fail because I am not profiting from it.
    6. If you want to post your contact information to receive credit, if it is your picture, feel free to do so. Of course, this post is almost 3 years old and not many people will read it.
    7. If you persist, I will do a blog about our conversation because it is an interesting subject and maybe 500 people a night will see it. Right now, probably no one has seen it except us two.
    8. If I cared about making friends, I wouldn't do a conservative blog.
    9. Merry Christmas and stop being such a Grinch.

  5. Dear Dan,

My name appears on the front of the picture you posted.. Had you the interest you could "google" my name and find me easily.

    My email address is hurrymailtodave@gmail.com

The link to the original photo is at:

    http://www.armentphoto.com/p685703137/e3a9fe2af

The watermark has changed but the picture is the same.

I have thousands of dollars in photo equipment and I make a portion of my livelihood on photographs I take. The photo was posted on a web site that hosts pictures. The web site is "crawled" by web search engines like Google and they post the pictures "on line" as searchable images. So I'm not sure what you think I did which opened the floodgates for people to take what they want.

I note that in your blogs you do credit newspapers when you use their information. When you use someone's picture you have a different standard????

I did as you suggested and looked at the "Righthaven" info on line. You are comparing "apples to oranges".

So blog all you want about whatever you want. I don't care. Just don't use any of my pictures in an unauthorized manner in your blogs.

... and I don't appreciate your calling me names...

    Thanks

  6. http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/copyright-fair-use-and-how-it-works-for-online-images/

    From this article:

"If you’re just using the image to pretty up a post, then think twice; or better yet, get permission or buy a stock image."

Much more "in line" with what we are talking about than the reference you had in your earlier posting.

    Thanks Again,
