Need Transportation To The Speedway This Weekend?

The Road Warrior from the LVRJ has some tips about getting to the NASCAR races this weekend. http://www.lvrj.com/news/go-to-las-vegas-nascar-weekend-early-and-stay-late-for-speedway-fun-117004918.html
She points out that there are shuttles to and from the Strip and downtown which cost $35 round trip on Friday and Saturday and $45 on Sunday. Taking a shuttle is going to be much cheaper than a taxi, even though many people do take taxis' I have to think that with mileage, waiting time in traffic and tip, you are probably talking about a $100 trip one way.
If you want to helicopter in, you can take the helicopters for $500. From the article: OK, so you have some extra money and want to fly over all this congestion?
Go for it. Maverick Helicopters, at the south end of the Strip, will zip spectators 20 miles to the speedway for $500 per person. The helicopters drop passengers off right outside Turn 2. Maverick also provides shuttles from hotel-casinos on the Strip or within five miles of the Strip corridor.
It's a pretty cool way to get to the race track and you will be able to get a great view of the Las Vegas Valley. The landing pad at the track is just outside Gate A and is about a 10 minute walk into the track.
If you drive, if you come from the south, I have always taken Las Vegas Blvd. You will have a smooth ride in, until you hit Range Rd or so and then the lanes shift and narrow and from there, it will be about a 30-45 minute drive in from there.
My suggestion is to leave early, very early and don't wait for the last minute or you will miss the opening ceremonies and even the first part of the race.

On Saturday, there will still be traffic jams close to race track, so again, leave early.
As far as getting out after the race, it's a little easier than getting in because people leave at all different times after the race.

If you like to tailgate, go for it. The parking lot ground is made out of gravel. The weather is going to be great for tailgating, with highs in the 60's, which is nice to BBQ. Just watch how much you will be drinking, because Metro police and the NHP swarm Las Vegas Blvd. and the Interstate entrance looking for drunk drivers.
