A Black Day In Education: 2-17-2011

Today, many school districts in Wisconsin have shut down because of an illegal teacher strike. because of this strike, these "teachers"/union hacks gave educators across the nation a black eye.
What these "teachers" did was to perpetuate the notion that teachers are just a bunch union hacks and not professionals.
What these "teachers" showed that is that it is not about the children but it is about themselves.
What these 'teachers" showed is that they little regard for the parents of students who have to find babysitters for the younger kids because these union hacks wanted to protest in Madison.
What these "teachers" showed is that is ok to break the rules and/or lie. Even there is a no strike law in the State, they broke this law. If any "teacher" called in sick and used sick time or personal time, they showed that they are liars and thieves.
What these "teachers" showed the nation that they think they are better than anyone else. If someone did this in the private sector, they would probably be fired, but not these "teachers".
The Wisconsin "teachers" gave educators across the nation a black eye today and made the rest of the hard working teachers in the nation look bad. I am sure the protest will garner national attention in the media and the union hacks/goons so called teachers will be in the forefront.
So, from this teacher to the "teachers" in Wisconsin who chose to go on strike, I hope that you spoiled little brats get your asses fired, that parents will get up in your face and call you a bunch of ass holes, that if you took sick time or personal time and get paid for today, that the school district and local police will charge you with theft and the kids that will have to spend an extra day or two in school at the end of the school year kick you in your shins and the administration laughs at you as you try and write them up.

  1. Wow, really? I remember when my teachers went on strike in Whitehall, Ohio, circa 1979 or so. We kids had a BLAST, and we were on the side of the teachers. After a couple of days of school disarray (and watching movies, and throwing paper airplanes at the "scab" substitute teachers), most of us kids just stayed home. It lasted about a week, the teachers got what they wanted, and we all went back, business as usual.

  2. Great post, keep them coming. Hope you get home as much as you want, although today you're only missing some dreadful weather!

  3. Thanks. I grew up in Wisconsin, went to school at U,W. Madison and silver Lake College (where I learned so much more at Silver Lake than U.W. Madison)and taught in Milwaukee and Westfield. I've been in WEAC and know what a joke it is. Thanks for writing.

  4. Jamie, that happens a lot in states where strikes are allowed, which explains why Illinois teachers often make more than $100,000 a year for working 9 months.
