From the LVRJ: Media update: Less than a month after being dropped by KXNT, 840 AM, Alan Stock returns to talk-show radio on Monday on KDWN, 720 AM. He'll be on from 11 a.m. to noon. He's on "The Ed Bernstein Show" at 4 p.m. Sunday on KSNV-TV, Channel 3.

While I am not surprised by Stock going to KDWN, I thought it would be for a regular 3 hour shift. My guess is that this is a trial run- if he succeeds, he will get the 3 hour slot after Heidi Harris and if it fails, no harm was done.
Stock is going up against Rush Limbaugh, so the odds are not that good but Stock is still better than Dennis Miller and some of the other people they have brought in.
KXNT still hasn't announced who is going to replace Stock int he 3-6PM slot. It would be nice if they brought back Mark Levin to this slot and the ratings will be much better than what they have now.

What's going on at KDWN??? Heidi wasn't on this morning but instead we got a dose of the recorded version of Dennis Miller. Then at 6 we hear Alan Stock until noon. Seriously???? I stopped listening to KXNT when they dumped Hendrix and Kidd. Not because I thought they had a great show but at least they were local and usually did a good job. Given some time I think they would have done very well. Personally I always liked KDWN's lineup of local talk show hosts....especially Jim Dallas. Never understood why he isn't still a major player in the lineup. If Stock replaces Harris I'm done... just as smart as 1280 going music 24/7....hows that working out for the bean counters???
ReplyDeleteI agree about the dismal state of local radio... and kxnt just grates on my nerves now that Hendrix, Kidd, AND Stock are gone. But as far as Heidi goes, she's still all over their website and promoted at an event tomorrow that they're hosting. I think she's still here.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Heidi is still there, probably taking a vacation day.
ReplyDeleteI think they will put Stock in the 9-12 slot, though he is against tough competition from Limbaugh and Ingrahm on AM 670.
