Pawn stars Review: March 11, 2013

Las Vegas just finished up with our NASCAR weekend and I went to the races on Saturday and Sunday.  Races were boring and I ended up looking like a boiled lobster on my face from sun burn.
Spring is finally here with temp's in the 80's before the end of the week.  Time to party around the swimming pools.
Tonight are two new episodes of Pawn Stars.  In the first episode, the first guy brought in a John F. Kennedy's cigar box used in the White House.  It was a wood box with a a metal plate with John F. Kennedy's name on it and it came with some cigars.  http://www.whitehouse.gov/about/presidents/johnfkennedy
The owner of the box is a museum director.  The guy had some documentation.  The guy wanted $95,000.  Rick offered $50,000.  The guy came down to $70,000.  Rick offered $60,000 and that was the selling price.  The guy got $30,000 now and the other $30,000 when the seller brought in more documentation.
A story line of the show was the Old Man getting a Strawberry-Rhubarb pie in the mail.  Rick said The Old Man had to eat better so, they took the pie away from him.

Revolver - Colt Brevete
The next guy brought in a 1857 Colt .44 Colt pistol.  It was the biggest gun Colt ever made and it was carried by the Texas Rangers.  The guy wanted $50,000 but Rick said it was one of the most faked guns.  Time for an expert, Craig.  Craig could not find a proof mark, whatever it is, so, Rick only offered $3000.  There is no sale.
The other story line is that Chumlee nutritionist at a local gym and she Chumlee lost weight (5pounds) and some body fat.  The nutritionist had Chumlee eating rice cakes.

The next guy brought in a 1988 Olympic Gold Medal in Seoul, South Korea.  The owner didn't know who won the medal or if it was a sample gold medal.  There was no story behind the medal, so it made it less valuable.  The guy wanted $18,000 and Corey offered $10,000 and there was no sale.
The next lady brought in an 1872 tooth extractor, used by dentists/doctors.  The seller is a radio talk show host, at least in Las Vegas, Dahliah.  She wanted $300 and Corey offered $155 and then $180.

In the second episode, the first guy brought in an alternative album photograph of the Beatles Sgt. Pepper album.  (Just, FYI, a few years ago, Cheap Trick played a year or two of Sgt. Pepper's band here in Las Vegas- pretty cool show)
EMI put out 100 photos and the guy wanted $800.  Rick offered $500 and that was the sale price.
The story line of the show was Rick wanted their vinyl records put out for sale.. You know, the things that play on record players.  Hopefully, you know what that is.
The next guy brought in a 400 or 500 year old pirate's chest.  It was quite large and made of wood, I believe.  It had some secret compartments.  The guy wanted $2000 and time for an expert, Mark from the Clark County Museum.  Mark said it was not a sea chest but was used in homes and from India.  It was used as dowry chest and was about 140 years old.  Rick offered $400 and then $450 and the selling price was $500.
Thenext guy brought in some lithographs made by Miro (http://joanmiro.com/) and Chagall (http://www.guggenheim.org/new-york/collections/collection-online/show-full/bio/?artist_name=Marc%20Chagall)
The guy wanted $10,000 for each lithograph and time for an expert, Brett at art Encounters.  Here is the Chagall and worth $8000 to 12,000

Brett didn't like the Miro lithograph and said it was worth $4000-6000.
Rick offered $8000 for both and was firm until he went to $8600 and that was the sale price.
Then Steve Carell came into the shop, in time for his new show.  He wanted a WWII diver's knife.  Rick offered the knife for $2500 and Carell offed $4000 and they kept bidding up.
That wraps up 2 new episodes of Pawn Stars and thanks for stopping by for the late night edition.  Not sure if next week's show's are repeats or not.
